Spoilers for ‘And Just Like That’…
Chris Noth is coming back to Sex-and-the-City-ville. There were rumors for a while about whether Mr. Big would be included in And Just Like That, the HBO Max ten-episode sequel series, and we learned about a month ago that Noth will appear. If you were wondering about how there could be any doubt that any SATC experience could be had without Mr. Big’s toxicity, well, here’s your answer. Apparently, And Just Like That has a major plot about how Carrie and Big are getting a divorce and it’s a nasty, bitter split.
Leaked script details from the much-anticipated follow-up to “Sex and the City” seem to show Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big have split — and they’re in the midst of a bitter divorce. While star Sarah Jessica Parker has been seen filming in NYC as her iconic “Sex and the City” protagonist, Page Six can exclusively reveal in the new HBO Max series, titled “And Just Like That…,” her character is bemoaning her divorce with Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, to her friends.
Carrie and Big finally tied the knot in the first “SATC” movie after he initially got cold feet and left her at the altar at the New York Public Library. But Page Six has learned from an exclusive glimpse at a script for the reboot that Carrie — now in her 50s and the host of a podcast — and Mr. Big appear to be over and fighting over finances in a plot familiar to many real-life Manhattan socialites.
In the new scene, Carrie is dining with BFFs Stanford Blatch (played by Willie Garson), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis). Carrie tells them she isn’t in a good place: “I was taping the podcast, I was washing my hair. Yes, I wasn’t eating or sleeping, but at least I felt good about my marriage. Now I’m just one of the wives he was taking care of?”
While Kim Cattrall isn’t making a comeback as man-eater Samantha Jones, HBO Max has announced that Sara Ramírez, Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman have joined the cast. Tony-winning Ramírez will play Che Diaz, a nonbinary, queer comedian who hosts a podcast that regularly features Carrie. Nicole Ari Parker, known for a raft of shows from “Empire” to “Chicago P.D.,” will play Lisa Todd Wexley, a Park Avenue mother of three nicknamed LTW.
Choudhury, best known for her breakout role opposite Denzel Washington in “Mississippi Masala,” will play Seema Patel, a single, self-made powerhouse Manhattan real estate broker. Pittman (“The Morning Show”) will appear as Columbia Law professor Dr. Nya Wallace, described as brilliant yet challenging.
I did not know that Sarita Choudhury was mixed up in this mess! Sarita is an excellent actor, why?? I hope she’s getting seriously paid for this. As for the plotline of Big and Carrie’s divorce… well, that explains why it was no big deal that Noth had not signed on for the sequel. I wonder what changed his mind? I hope it was a massive paycheck. Plus, he’s New York-based and already filming The Equalizer in town, it’s probably pretty easy for him to schedule a few days here and there on the AJLT set. Now, for the Big-and-Carrie divorce… it was completely unrealistic for them to get married in the first place! The realism was their back-and-forth psychodrama and dysfunctional narcissism. They were addicted to that cycle of drama and they never would have gotten married in the first place. Honestly, I’m more shocked that Carrie is a podcaster!

It won’t be the same without Kim Cattrall’s character. I will surely miss Samantha.
I will too! She is a phenomenal actor and she was so central to the show. The only thing I am looking forward to are the feats of the designer, if they have the original one. But they never should have made the movies, but the second one was beyond awful. I won’t be watching this mini-sequel, I will just look at the fashion. I don’t care about them and it’s too late to keep bringing this show back. Do they not have enough money?
@BothSidesNow- I regret to inform you that Patricia Field, the original designer, did not return!! I believe she’s working on Emily in Paris instead.
I agree with you. First I don’t like how SJP let her minions do her work on insulting Kim Catrall because she wouldn’t come back for a useless sequel. I’m still pissed I wasted time and money going to see the second movie. How much money does SJP need? It’s obviously they are only doing it for a pay check. Fool me once! Also SJP looks like a homeless woman in that image with the hat. She seems to be a little obsessed with divorce since she did that awful series on HBO about divorce.
Anna, I can tell.
Yes, that explains the bad fashion.
Samantha provided the fizz. The other three characters needed her as a balance.
Honestly it would be more of a twist if the Prestons did NOT divorce because of money issues. Who is this man? They keep changing Mr Big’s motivations to suit the plot. Ugh
Correct. A shocking script would have had them living in the Bronx; blissfully happy, in love, running Kindergarten carpool.
I don’t believe this is true, I think they just planted that a) to get more buzz and b) put everyone on the wrong track so the real plot comes out as a huge surprise.
Also, that Carrie quote doesn’t mean they are divorcing, maybe they just had a fight.
And why I am writing this many words when I don’t actually care about this, I will never know
I too think it’s a fake leak. Otherwise there would’ve been something about how they explained Samantha not being in the picture – is she dead, has she moved, is she the mistress Big cheated with on Carrie? That’s the only thing that is interesting to me about the movie, to see what the writers did with it.
I don’t know, it feels like it could just be dialogue overheard during the filming, rather than a full-on script leak.
This.
The film isn’t getting the kind of attention from fans that they were hoping. I’m sure they discussed the idea of a Big divorce but I highly doubt it’s in the final draft. Look for more faux leaks like this to come in an attempt to drum up interest.
I hope this series have that late 90s, early 2000s “I neeeed a man” vibe.
Forgot a ‘does not’ in my previous comment
Same here! They are trying to build some buzz for this. I definitely will not be watching this. I have no doubt it will be a big flop. Then, maybe, just maybe, they’ll finally put SITC to rest for good.
I’m glad they’re getting a more diverse cast, but I’m sorry, I don’t think it will matter at all. It’s still going to flop!!
IMO, they should’ve just ended it with the first movie and even that was a stretch. It won’t be the same without Samantha but I’m still curious enough to watch it just to see the dynamic between the new characters and the original three.
@smiles. Exactly what you just said!
@smiles. Exactly what you just said!
I’m with you Smiles. It was over at the end of the series and Cantrell’sSamantha character was the ‘much needed’ spice that will be missed in this extension The first movie was ok, the second was a Disaster. Was there a third? I don’t even remember. Carrie (aka SJP) does look like she’s aging well in her over-the-top outfits.
I agree. While I personally think the show ended on a pretty good note, the first movie was not entirely terrible. It was cringy and not the greatest, but not nearly as cringy as part 2. I personally find the idea of Carrie and Big divorcing kind of annoying simply because they put us through all that ridiculous drama and 2 bad movies to get them to where they were. Now, if Carrie and Big were real people, they would never have ended up together. Big would’ve found himself another Natasha too young for him. But come on, after all that you’re going to split them up? This is why this installment is completely unnecessary. This is Toy Story 4 all over again, which I like to pretend never happened.
This exactly. I haven’t even watched the second because I heard it was such a disaster, so I kept it decent in my head with the end of the first!
They SHOULD have ended it after season 4.
I enjoyed the first one but the second one was too blatantly racist. Stop insulting other cultures Hollywood.
The first movie gets a lot of hate, but I loved it. It was basically what the seventh season of the series would have been about. The 2nd movie was trash though. Recycled storylines, no plot, Sam was made to look foolish, Miranda (my favorite character) had no storyline, etc.
This is backtracking- but after a man leaves you at the altar- as in you are in the dress already- isn’t the correct behavior to never marry him?
I mean, stay in the relationship if you want.
but he is not marriage material.
The new show doesn’t make sense to me.
He was a scared white, male, millionaire AND he built her the closet for all her shoes, so her dignity was worth it, because who would she be without Big?
I have absolutely no interest in this.
Me, neither. And I absolutely loved it at the time.
@ Amy Bee, ditto. -0 interest, in fact.
The producers & HBO must have money to burn in order to launch this particular Hindenburg, which was up in flames before anyone lit the proverbial cigarette SJP lit up for seasons 1-4 or something, before she put on her nicotine patch.
No one wants to see a show about self centered Carrie’s walk-in closet, her Manolos, or her penthouse problems which she created because she wanted to marry a man so that she and her hideous wedding dress could cover Vogue, alá Melania.
Perhaps instead of a nasty divorce, Big will run for POTUS, & we can watch a tedious season of “Carrie’s Walk-in Closet Goes to Washington”!
🇺🇸🐗👗👙👠🥻👘👡👠🧥🐗 🇺🇸
Everyone and their grandmother has a podcast these days so that bit just made me yawn but what I thought was way more surprising was the blatant tokenism the writers have mashed into the story as a replacement for Samantha’s absence.
That’s more offensive than having their original lily white cis cast imo.
I agree about the blatant tokenism. It’s like: have we got all the bases covered? Cringe.
How much you want to bet their storylines will all revolve around Carrie. They’re just supporting characters to listen to her whine about her life.
The show was always racist, so I’m not surprised. The characters were horrible people. I’ve always thought that if I hated women, and white women in particular, THIS is how I would have them portrayed. I just can’t believe that no one involved in the show could see that (except maybe Noth?).
Shoot, I don’t know, STC was the sound track of my youth i loved it, but even back then i knew she should not have married Mr Big, to me i prefered her with the furniture guy (he was also my big fat wedding) and it definitly wont be the same with out Samantha, but i can understand her not want to squeeze the last of the toothpaste by anymeans out of the tube. it had its time. and im sorry Carrie was looking hideous in that getup with the Hat.
I always thought Aiden was way too good for Carrie. She treated him terribly.
Asians was the one that got away, not Big. Carrie is too dumb to ever understand it.
Aiden was low maintenance, stable, loyal, and hot. Carrie was so stupid.
I was so pissed as well, when Aiden left Carrie, but he was WAY too good for her. Looking back on the original series now, Carrie is the worst character LOL! She is so self-absorbed, narcissistic, and all about herself. Aiden was completely stable, incredibly hot, and loved her unconditionally, yet she shit all over him, time and time again. And even when she finally gets her on again/off again “love” Mr. Big, all she does is complain (in the movies this is – which I know were crap haha!!)
It is no surprise they are doing a storyline about their divorce…but I am sure it will be garbage. Just be prepared for more of Carrie’s whining LMAO
Ironically, the other three women’s characters really grew up and developed over the series; Carrie’s never did. I prefer the other three over her any day!
BTW, Candace Bushnell herself said that she wouldn’t date the type of man Aidan was but she would date the guy who played Aidan (and she did, she said). And Bushnell IS Carrie after all, lol.
Aiden will be in this mess too. I hope he tells Carrie to take a hike.
OH God, Aiden is in this crap too? LMAO
Carrie is basically at her core a gold digger and that’s why she picked Big over Aiden. The shoe obsession on her columnist salary. The fact she was shocked when Aiden moved out and wanted to be bought out of their place (why wouldn’t he???)
Exactly this. Carrie wants to live the rich luxe life. She can’t do that with Aiden who just wants a normal family uncomplicated life.
She did not want to marry him and she did not even wear the engagement ring on her finger. No wonder he had enough. He never should have gone back to her.
Aidan seemed pretty rich to me. That ring that was probably 40k in 2001, the the buying second and third Manhattan apartments without a thought, a cottage in a competitive summer properties marked, investing in his friends business..
Bless your heart if you think Aidan is an Everyman. Bless it and lend me money.
Am I the only want who thinks this SATC reboot is going to be a dismal failure? I hope I am wrong.
FYI: Aiden is played by John Corbett. John Corbet first hit it big with the TV show Northern Exposure (which I loved).
News you can’t Use: John Corbett has been in a relationship with Bo Derek since 2002.
I’ve barely followed the show and I even I know this is tedious. Hasn’t Big mercilessly toyed with Carrie throughout the series, reluctantly giving her the award of finally marrying her, and now the big plot is their divorce? Uuugh.
Samantha was the only one who truly embodied the sexual liberation the show was known for, so why even return without her? Kim Cattrell must be cackling at this.
I said something similar above. The entire series and movies revolved around Carrie and Big finally being together, and now they’re going to divorce them??
@L84Tea – I know right???? Like WTF Just ridiculous IMO.
Reminds me of the Gilmore Girls reboot. We spent 7 seasons rooting for Rory to achieve her potential, and then they bring her back 13 years later unmotivated and living off her trust fund. Which takes all the fun out of rewatching the original episodes.
Or the plot will be about a near-divorce followed by them trying to work it out to follow the original will-they-make-it formula *eyeroll*
Just popping in to agree with @Bettyrose on the Gilmore Girls comment. I didn’t like the original GG very much, but what I did like was the idea that Rory was on a journey, and would someday synthesize her grandparents’ philosophies (succeed in the traditional way, be a wealthy person of good character and standing, honor where and who you come from) and her mom’s philosophy (doesn’t matter what your background is, be yourself at all times, do whatever makes you happy and feels most authentic even if it is way outside of the box). And then in the GG Netflix miniseries, we find Rory has not followed EITHER her mom’s or her grandparents’ path, and is, instead, a sullen, unemployed, underachieving, rootless loser, whose main motivation seems to be to bag a man, and who is very lucky she has family money to fall back on and family homes to live in. I had a low bar for the GG miniseries but it really sunk to unacceptable depths.
On SATC: omg this looks awful.
@BettyRose is spot on about GG. I have wondered why I never seem to want to watch the old episodes and it makes sense it is due to what they did with Rory in the miniseries. This new series of SATC is so unnecessary.
I have followed the show, and my first thought was, “good! Leave Big!” I hope she goes and enjoys herself in this movie. I fear it will be the Big and Carrie reunion show. 🙄 Well, I guess I don’t really fear it because I probably won’t watch it.
Also, I never thought so deeply about why Gilmore Girls ended up so disappointing. I agree with everyone. High five from Danerys from Game of Thrones, whose ending also ruined the idea of rewatching for me.
So Stanford got promoted to the lunch table?
He’s the new Samantha. 😏
Everything about this movie is just such a waste of space. A perfect metaphor to what happens when people get successful and become greedy. Carrie, a smart single woman living in New York and writing a newspaper column, is now an old lady who wears two purses as a fashion statement. Miranda, an independent and feisty lawyer who didn’t care to take out dinner plates and ate lasagna from the pan, now doesn’t go outside unless she is dressed in designer clothes. Charlotte is just collecting puppies and Botox shots. Samantha, the fun adult in the series has simply vanished (did she join a religious cult?).
These people can’t help themselves. They don’t care about the show. They want money. And it shows.
Agree with the last four sentences so much. Always been a money grab and an ego thing for the cast and producers.
In real life, Carrie would be posting desperate TikToks to try and be cool. The older I get, the less I like the selfish and self-absorbed Carrie character. The other women’s characters I always liked despite their flaws.
Its honestly hard to watch the original show now with the episodes including BIG their relationship was so toxic. Did they ever say how he was so wealthy? His mysterious wealth i thought was part of the fantasy for carrie? They had storylines of her not saving planning ahead with money spending more on shoes then pressuring friends to bail her out of that situation. He was the ‘solution ‘ for that for her
I still can’t believe that Charlotte gave her the engagement ring from the Trey MacDougal marriage. I always watched the show because everyone else in my circle watched it but I always thought it was highly overrated.
@Meg, I always assumed he was supposed to be some sort of real estate mogul because, and I believe it was said in the very first episode, when Samantha pointed out Big to Carrie, she said something along the lines of “Do you see that guy? He’s the next Donald Trump.” This of course was back when Trump was just a mogul and not the Orange Oompa-Loompa of Doom. That was always my assumption though.
@L84Tea Clearly you know this series as well as I do xo
Yes, I always assumed Big was in some type of real estate as well, from that line from Samantha. God, Donald Trump even had a brief cameo in the series, where Samatha meets a much older man (wealthy, and a business partner of Trump) and she tries the much older man thing for a hot second! LOL Who knew we were going to be tortured with the maniac of Trump all these years later???
I think the whole idea for the writers was to keep many things mysterious about “Big” – hell we didn’t even know his God Damn name until the very end.
I was in college during the SATC years so watching the show with my friends was a religious experience that we never ever missed. I’m embarrassed to admit how well I know those old episodes inside and out…
And yes, I do remember the Trump cameo. The one with the cute little old man who said “I used to groove with these cats in Cuba!” 😀
But yes, they definitely tried to keep Big a mystery, which was smart of them because it did add to the story. We couldn’t seem to get a grasp on him just like Carrie couldn’t. Finding out his name in the last moment of the show was pretty genius.
Oh same – I literally know every episode. Show me one scene and I can tell you what season it is from, and what’s going on in the storyline (sad I know LOL). I got the whole Sex and City DVD Collection when it came out. Of course you can stream it all now, but still. I was just married (in my late 20s) and watched SATC on Sundays when The Sopranos aired as well, on HBO. Those were great nights of television! My husband used to complain he “had” to watch SATC with me, but I know he liked it too!!!
Yes, the old man with Samatha – putting his “moves” on her – that was a pretty good episode! Pretty sure that is when we were introduced to Miranda’s Steve as well.
I’m still so disappointed that his name was… John. They had all this time to find a cool name for him and f##king John.
The movies were horrific. The only way forward is Samantha is dead. Unsure yet if I’ll watch but sure everyone will be talking about it.
Some speculated that he was called John after JFK Jr, who had passed away in 1999. SJP had dated JFK Jr. It could have been a tribute.
“I’m just one of the wives he was taking care of.”
So Big is a polygamist?
Maybe all of these new characters are also married to Mr. Big, and then it turns out that he and Samantha have been in a happy open marriage since 1985.
That line struck me too. It sounds weird.
Yes, that was strange. They have just done so many back and forth things with Big now, it just doesn’t make any sense. During the series, he was habitually non-committal to Carrie, never really emotionally available, unless she was attached (Aiden, the Russian). Then finally at the end – WOW. They get together. First movie – he gets cold feet (of course) at the wedding, but at the end, they wind up together again. Second (trash) movie – Big is the one who seems content in the relationship, but Carrie is a nagging bitch IMO. She kisses Aiden and confesses to Big. No big deal, he gets her a diamond. HAHA
Now, they are divorcing???? It just doesn’t make sense (and the suggestion that he has other wives – that is such a throwback to the Big of the earlies seasons). Just lazy writing if you ask me. And yes, this is a total money grab, and it is showing already.
I took it to mean maybe like alimony? Remember, Carrie was his 3rd wife.
Yeah, that’s a good point. Carrie is his third wife.
😂already doomed! HBO has too much money on their hands for going ahead with this despite how badly the movies did! I for one WON’T watch it
Im still so frigging confused as to who was begging to see more SATC? Honestly, now. I don’t understand people’s desire to not let things just be and end. I hated that they decided to continue with Big Little Lies, loathe that they did SATC movie #2 and I think they could’ve ended Handmaids Tale so much earlier. And it always seems like the plots are tissue paper thin at those points. Just let things die, people!
I’m all in for the twist that SJP awakes, discovers we’re well above and beyond this tripe and quits. I bet it goes viral.
Lol now that’s a movie I’d watch.
People will watch out of curiosity (probably to see what they do with Samantha), but I know it won’t be good.
Grrrrr. This is why you don’t make sequels. Just let me have them together and married. I’m sorry I love Chris Noth and love Big….I know, I know he was a POS. Calk it up to a very guilty pleasure. I know better now….but I want them to be together damn it! I will not watch this crap now even though I was never going to watch it anyway. 😅.
If they want it to be realistic they should have Carrie be a Bravo Housewife of NY. She’s completely the type- shallow, self absorbed, shopaholic. She’s the worst
That’s genius! lol
I hope this is a fake leak. 😒 I hate when reboots or whatever does this weirdness. We invested years in a love story you worked into the show’s DNA and now they are divorcing. I was ticked when the 1st movie came out and had that godawful jilted bride storyline plus Miranda cheating story and I tuned out at the hot mess of movie 2. This show never wrote diversity well and I will not be investing no matter how amazing Nicole Ari Parker is in everything
I’ll say it again: I would love to just watch a spin off with Samantha. That won’t happen for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that Kim Cattrall is over the role, but I’d rather see her. Sadly, I can see myself most in Charlotte and Miranda with an unhealthy dose of Carrie, but Samantha is the one I looked forward to seeing on the screen.
omg that would be fantastic!
@Betsy, don’t feel “sad” that you are more Charlotte than Samantha. Every character is someone’s perfect dream. Charlotte’s life was always MY favorite because in my mind, she had the cream of the crop – she grew up wealthy and well-connected in New York, and continued to be wealthy and well-connected in New York her entire life. I never wanted to be Carrie, running around New York, trying to make a living and spending all my money on my shoe addiction. Or Miranda, working like a slave in the most boring (for me) job. Or Samantha, who was just too crazy for my taste.
I’m simplifying of course, but the point is we are all perfect for someone.
This sounds tedious. Am I the only one who doesn’t think that Big actually left Carrie at the alter? He got nervous because he didn’t want the spectacle, but just wanted it to just be Carrie and him. He was even turning around to come back when Carrie started beating him in the head with the flowers. It would have been more realistic if they left the spectacle behind and went off to the court house that moment. I’m in the minority, but I thought those two were perfect for each other because they were both selfish and materialistic. They also got to a place where they could be 100 percent themselves around each other. No one else could really stand either of them! lol
Well, yes Big did have some hesitation over the huge spectacle that the wedding became. But you are right – he was heading back but Carrie was too pissed at the point. They originally were going to do something more simple, but Carrie went a bit overboard and lost sight of him. Plus it was his third marriage haha
They are perfect for each other 🤣 Materialistic and pretty damn selfish!
And Just like that 3 vapid 50 something Karen’s full of Botox and fillers reemerge on the New York scene to bitch and moan about their lives of Upper East Side Apartments, spacious brownstones, rich husbands, nannies, shoe shopping, successful careers and dining out. Sounds titillating and so relatable. Not.
Pretty damn spot on!!
And as somebody said upthread, isn’t that “Real Housewives” territory? (I only know it by reputation.)
I detest Chris Noth. I was having dinner at Chateau Marmont once while he was there and he’s such a smug asshole he actually made me cry. Even the staff agreed that he’s just a dick.
@Delphine, I would love to know more about what happened!! (If you can tell us without giving too many identifying details.)
😮😮😮😮😮 I must know the deets
This entire thing is cringe. Leave well enough alone. I did like the original series but the movies were unnecessary as is this stupid 10 episodes thing
Yeah, agree. The Carrie/Mr. Big relationship would never have ended in marriage IRL. An on-again, off-again, sex-is-really-hot-but-the-rest-of-the-relationship-sucks situation does not end in marriage.
Everyone keeps saying Big isn’t marriage-worthy. I think Carrie isn’t marriage-worthy. Her motivations for marrying Big were money and sex, not because she cared about him as a person. He was a typical NYC finance guy who had one marriage which ended – not unusual. Meets Natasha who checks off the boxes of low-maintenance, attractive and undemanding. Carrie “inserts” herself into his life over and over again because he has always been a conquest to her – not a love interest, but something to “win” from other women. His money, his status, his sexual bravado – all something she wants to win. She has no real empathy for him as a person, as witnessed in the SATC2 movie when she finds him watching TV and freaks out. Really? Freaking out because hubby watches TV!!!!! All of America (and the TV-watching world, for that matter) would be divorced if this were the case.
I was horrified reading somewhere online that a sequel script had Samantha sleeping with Miranda’s son Brady. Horrified. It is not okay, not funny and in the wake of recent news- makes so much sense why Kim Cattrall would burn all bridges and refuse any sum of money to film.
I read something about that too!! No wonder Kim Cattrall said NO WAY to that crap!
Plus they really made her look ridiculous in the third movie – I mean the whole movie was garbage yes, but I completely sympathize why she said no more to this!
My jaw just hit the ground. No wonder. Is everyone (besides Kim Cattrall) completely tone deaf?
In my teens and early 20s, I loved SAC. (Maybe too much!)
In my late 30s I realize how problematic and annoying it is. I won’t be watching
Chris Noth was good in the original Law & Order. Good actor, good part, tall, dark and handsome. He has not aged well, and in interviews as himself..no thanks.
SaTC the series was, at the time, enjoyable tv. Samatha was the best part, then the clothes. How the hell they ever got MB to join os the Russian?
#1 movie, meh.
#2. Horrible
I will check in here for pics of the clothes, bts info.
But, I’d rather spend time watching paint dry vs. this hot mess.
Maybe Noth, Nixon, Davis see this as 401K money. lol
SJP is just desperately hanging on by dredging this back to life.
The second movie was a disaster beyond imagination. And judging from the plot, the writers and producers lack any imagination here as well. How cliche to still to focus this character on her mr big story. I assume SJP’s inflated ego played a big part in that too.
I don’t care about Big and Carrie. He should have kicked her out after she kissed Aidan in the 2nd movie but instead she got a black diamond because she is oh-so-special. Carrie Bradshaw would be penniless without Big and yes, she was taken care of!
Just don’t break up Steve and Miranda.
Agreed! I literally don’t give two shits about Big and Carrie anymore (don’t think others do now either, looking back on their toxic back and forth relationship!) Hindsight is always 20/20. As many have said, many of us loved that series back when it aired, but when you look at it now through the lens of today – I think we can all see the problematic character that Carrie is, especially in relation to Big. I love Miranda and Steve AND Charlotte and Harry. Do not break them up. And I loved Samatha and Jared at the end of the SATC series (showing the growth of Sam’s character. I (sort of) get why they made her break up with him – she was always an independent, strong woman on her own. The second movie was complete trash, and I hated what they did to Samantha’s character in that movie.
But yes, Carrie would never be able to sustain the wealthy lifestyle she wants and craves without Big, and they are just completely annoying at this point. If they do truly divorce in this new series, I could care less LOL. It will just be showcase for more of Carrie’s selfish whining.
It seems no one will be satisfied. I will definitely watch it. These are women in their fifties, facing their later years and I will be very interested to see what they come up with. Over-50’s women get little enough representation as it is, so it will be a good watch I hope.
This sounds like a huge mess. They should have just left it alone after the first movie. I’m probably the only one disappointed that Big and Carrie did break up. They deserved each other TBH. But they broke up in the series and in each movie and got back together so I imagine that will happen again for the zillionth time.
