Keanu Reeves visited a village pub in Northamptonshire, called ‘a lovely man’

Everyone loves Keanu Reeves, right? As far as celebrities go, he is pretty unimpeachable. (And has the gift of eternal youth, but that’s another story). Keanu has been bopping around the English countryside, being the highlight of local residents’ days wherever he goes. He popped into a pub the other day and took photos with other patrons and the staff. They all had nothing but nice things to say about him and how lovely he was.

The Matrix actor visited The Fox and Hounds at Charwelton in Northamptonshire on Wednesday.

The Canadian, 57, had been spotted around the county and also mingled with a bride and groom at their wedding at a hotel in Daventry.

Pub manager Danny Ricks said Reeves was “a lovely, down to earth guy” who was “really nice to everyone”.

“He stood and took photos with customers and staff,” he said.

“Just everything nice you would think about him was all true.”

Dianne King, who lives in the village and was in the pub with her husband Jason, said at first she did not realise it was the actor, “so obviously I had to go and ask him 10 times ‘is it really you?'”.

She said he and the people with him were “lovely”.

“Myself and my husband are still on a high from it – what an honour and what a lovely man,” she said.

As a civilian, I get impatient taking too many pics while touristing, so it’s extra nice that he stopped and took so many pics in a restaurant on his way to a meal. Also nice — Keanu stopped by a wedding at his hotel after the couple randomly invited him. Apparently, he was staying at the hotel and met the groom at the hotel bar. The groom invited Keanu to the reception for a drink, and he actually did stop by later on to congratulate the couple and take pictures with them and their guests. That’s one way to make a wedding extra memorable for the couple and all the guests. Keanu just seems like such an all-around nice, chill dude.

Never break our hearts Keanu .

  2. Joanna says:

Wow! He really made their day! I love him as John Wick

    • Both Sides Now says:

@ Joanna, he is a fine John Wick, though I think he is a fine man!!

I absolutely adore these stories!! We knew how kind, humble, gracious and respectful he is to all of those around him but he seems to go the extra mile for common folk, unlike many others. As for the married couple, I don’t think I would have been able to contain my excitement!!! I am giddy just reading this article about Keanu!!

Keanu is our super star of kindness and humanity!! I love everything about him!!!!

  3. Sonia says:

So he went to a pub and acted normal and a fawning article was put out about it? I’m pretty sure 95% of famous people act normal at bars. Keanu has one of the best PR teams in the business. Never put a celebrity on a pedestal.

    • Both Sides Now says:

@ Sonia, these are stories that those who came into contact with him made, not his PR people! Don’t piss onto Keanu with your baseless claims.

    • Jenni says:

Hey Sonia why don’t you get out from under your cloud of pessimism and stop being so sad and pissed off? I’m sure you must hear so many stories about him being a wonderful person that it must really get to you for some reason enough to come comment to those who appreciate good people in the world. Let’s hope he doesn’t come down off his “pedestal” to anywhere you feel like dragging your morose self to. How about you work on yourself before crapping on people for being happy and loving each other and then you can leave the good vibes for people who appreciate it. Cheers Keanu!

    • whatWHAT? says:

so who p*ssed in your cheerios this morning, sonia?

sheesh…in an era where we constantly hear about how awful some celebrities are, it’s nice to hear about one who is NOT awful and is actually the OPPOSITE of awful. no one is putting him on a pedestal. just acknowledging that he’s a good guy who can laugh at himself and treats his fans with kindness.

I’m going to disagree here because most celebrities are self important and really unpleasant in real life – especially when you’re a mere commoner and you can’t do anything for their career. Ask most waitresses and lowly assistants on sets who have to put up with them. I once met Kathy Bates in an elevator and she was absolutely lovely! I believe Keanu is the real thing and damn it I’m gonna hold on to those 5 celebs that are nice people and not have any skeptics ruin it.

    Beautiful man, never change.

  5. Fuzzy Crocodile says:

I always love the stories about him. Such a kind human.

    • TigerMcQueen says:

I love these stories and hope he continues to not disappoint. So many celebs do.

Also, I saw him in person years ago, and he is legit the most beautiful looking human being I’ve ever seen. Stunningly gorgeous. I’m really glad that his inside seems to be pretty nice as well.

He’s an absolute delight and continues to be so, go Keanu.

On a related note, I’ve been watching Long Way Up on Apple – the 3rd/most recent Ewan McGregor bike journey which I think happened c.2019 (they’re doing it on prototype electric bikes and with a partially electric truck/4×4 support crew, it’s very interesting if you’re into that). In one of the cities they stopped at word got out that he was in town and while they were in a cafe a big crowd of people gathered. I imagined he’d be hustled out of there but instead he got everyone to line up and took photos with all of them. You could argue he knew the cameras were rolling and it’s good PR but he did seem genuine. Similar at Machu Pichu, he took pics as people came and asked then took himself to a quieter spot. I can still side eye him for his messy love life and admire him for this!

@sarahcs. I loved Long Way Down. I was so sad when I heard he and Evelyn divorced. She was a trooper on that show!

I’ve only seen the first of those motorcycle series (name isn’t coming to me right now) and I thought he came across as douchey and egotistical, it made me go cold on him as a personality. Still like him as an actor though

  7. SummerMoomin says:

Keanu stories always make me so happy. I wonder what he is up to in the midlands? He must be filming something to have his hair so kempt and his beard so black. He’s looking really good!

  8. Owlsyn (all hail Queen Meghan) says:

While this story is delightful and I am sure he absolutely made everyone’s day, I feel a little bad for Keanu that it seems like he can’t just have a drink in privacy and peace.

  9. Twin Falls says:

    Keanu forever.

  10. Well Wisher says:

It is possible to love a stranger, these stories were prevalent in early tumblr.
It is good to note that some things have not changed.
Lovely man, indeed and always in a jacket.
    Love …

  11. Regina Falangie says:

He’s the only one still on my list. “It’s laminated!”

  12. Erin says:

He is so wonderful and these stories give us life in these wild times!!
