Sean Ono Lennon makes fun of Prince Harry’s ‘Spare’, says Harry ‘earned some mockery’

Sean Ono Lennon is the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Their only child together, but Sean has half-siblings from each parent: Julian Lennon and Kyoko Chan Cox. Sean was part of an Oscar-winning Animated Short, WAR IS OVER! Inspired by the music of John & Yoko. That’s why he attended the Oscars this year. Well, Sean isn’t content to just be a celebrity offspring who dabbles in music and what have you. He also wants to have celebrity beefs. A few days ago, Sean decided to tweet about how much he hated Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.

John Lennon’s son has finally read Prince Harry’s memoir … and he’s crapping on it.

Sean Ono Lennon — John and Yoko Ono’s only kid — says he’s cracked open the Duke of Sussex’s memoir, a year after its release, and he was left underwhelmed by the tell-all, writing … “My long awaited review of Prince Harry’s autobiography is two words. ‘Spare Me.'”

As fans of the prince hit back at Sean’s criticism in his comments, the musician doubled down, calling the prince “a buffoon” and an “idiot” in replies to various people online.

While Sean admitted to having empathy for PH, he blasted the royal for “the way he whines and wangs on about things” … feeling particularly unimpressed with Harry’s tidbit about his frostbitten penis.

However, he clarified his scathing review a bit — later saying it was just a bit of fun, but in the same breath telling his followers King Charles’ son “deserves to be mocked.”

[From TMZ]

So I was going to be like “eh, live and let live, who cares.” Then I went through Lennon’s recent tweets to find the Spare-specific ones and now I f–king hate this guy. He’s lecturing people and rolling his eyes at Trump’s felony convictions and trying to bill himself as some kind of anti-woke crusader. The dude thinks he’s the biggest edgelord to ever live. Spare me, indeed.

Thanks, Sean Lennon, for reminding us how easy it is to be good at other people’s lives.

    • Andy Dufresne says:

Let’s not forget that his mom and her name has become synonymous with breaking up bands and taking the blame for why friendships end.

His mom has been dragged for decades to the point where she is now a trope.

Sean Lennon should know better and be more empathetic.

      • Christine says:

This! He is the byproduct of what might be the biggest manufactured feud of all time, all laid at his mother’s feet, and he can’t relate to Harry at all? Yoko Ono is an effing VERB now, but this tool has no compassion for Harry?

Or is it Harry’s success that you’re really pissed about, because the world views Julian as the defacto heir of John Lennon’s musical legacy?

William, Sean Ono sounds desperate for relevancy, maybe you can help with one of your shiney, totally earned honors?

      • pottymouth pup says:

Sean is spending much of his time espousing rightwing bullshit. He’s been complaining about DEI and “wokism” on Twitter and complaining about how the term mansplaining is sexist.

    • kirk says:

Wow @Amy T – love your reaction. May I quote you?
      ❤️

    • Editor M says:

I had the displeasure of being called for jury duty at the same time as Sean Lennon. We weren’t picked for a case but he showed up stinky, picked his nose constantly and rolled his eyes whenever someone spoke to him. He seemed to think we were wowed by his celebrity but I think we were mostly appalled at how classless and ill-mannered someone with all the advantages could be.

    • Jane says:

SEAN WHO? Run along to your Mumma, Sean. Spare me your opinion, you little MAGA sympathiser.

  2. vs says:

Just like with Beyoncé and Taylor swift, any low level celebrity can always get some attention by talking about H&M. I guess he wants his 15min of fame too …

  3. Jais says:

Another anti-woke crusader? How original. Spare me.

    • acha says:

The weirdest part of all this is that Yoko Ono, who is incredibly “woke”, is his mama. I wonder what she thinks of Sean’s growing conservatism?

      • Flower says:

It’s very common for kids with parents like that to rebel and become very conservative.

But mostly I think he’s doing it for attention – I mean he must see the irony in trolling Harry given the parallels between how his mother and Meghan have both been treated by the UK?

    • Yeah the bucket is full but they keep coming because they know the Right will worship them for being their worst possible selves in public.

he is giving off serious creep vibes, which is another reason why he’d take refuge among the people that celebrate murderers and rapists. they’ve got the rapist and human trafficking guy, the kid who crossed a state border to murder protesters, the convicted felon rapist for president, and Elon himself, companies he leads repeatedly accused of sexual harassment and racism and his horse present to the woman who says he sexually harassed her.

  4. equality says:

Says the guy living off his parents’ memory who hasn’t achieved their level of fame. Bitter much? I thought PH injected humor into most of the situations and more empathy than his family deserved.

  5. Nanny to the Rescue says:

I thought “spare me” in itself was a funny pun, even if I don’t agree with it. But the rest is kinda yikes.

    • sevenblue says:

The tabloids already did that joke. He is probably just repeating them.

    • aries48 says:

Like the good nepo baby that he is, his pun is not original. It’s borrowed.

    • Proud Mary says:

Yeah, “Spare me” is so original, isn’t it? I mean, that wasn’t repeated ad nauseum by every royalist hack in British media and every bottom-dwelling H&M SM troll, long before the book’s release. No he’s not like 20 months late to that one at all. Snark!

    • Kathleen says:

He did not come up with Spare me. He picked it up from a tabloid. No originality.

  6. Ale says:

Considering how much unjustified guilt and hate was put on his mother at the time of the Beatles break up, like she single handedly ended them, i would expect i bit more of empathy from him

    • ABritGuest says:

Ironically today he posted on twitter about the unjustified hate & harassment his mother experienced. I’m sure Yoko has discussed her experiences & rightly so. Would Sean call that “whining”?

It’s just interesting that everyone can discuss their own life & experiences & people can write multiple articles & books about Harry including how awful they claim he’s been to his family but when he addresses it – it’s whinging & complaining. sick of the hypocrisy of it.

Anyway I do think he’s clout chasing as he was commenting on all the press coverage his comments got before launching into some boring diatribe about wokeness. He will probably be on a trashy Murdoch show shortly as the latest anti woke , anti Harry & Meghan commentator

      • Tessa says:

Sean please study comments sections those who don’t like harry and Meghan don’t like y o k o. And even called Meghan yo ko. Think about it sean

      • Interested Gawker says:

Like his father didn’t talk to Dick Cavett explaining his situation the way H&M spoke to Oprah? C’mon. ‘They”re using the same J&Y playbook for H&M – satirical cartoon with the man on the woman’s lead, othering the woman, malicious press intrusion and propaganda, political interference. Sean needs to wake up so he can be ‘woke’ to the way he’s feeding the same wolves that made his parents’ life a misery.

    • MoonTheLoon says:

The hate was a continuation of the hate from how she and John came to be in the first place. Fans don’t forget how she was instrumental in his break up with Cynthia and how she took full advantage of John’s indifference to mistreat Julian later. John was a full participant for sure. But he’s not here anymore and people need someone tangible to direct their hate.

  7. WaterDragon says:

The ultimate nepo baby speaks. yawn.

    • Hypocrisy says:

He is the son no one remembers.. I totally forgot that John had a child with Yoko until this came out. Julian (Hey Jude) is who I remember 🤷🏻‍♀️

      • Christine says:

Julian is who everyone remembers, including me!

      • booboocita says:

I adored his first album, Valotte. Didn’t listen to his subsequent albums, but I think I’ll give them a go. He really is his father’s successor.

  8. bisynaptic says:

Good to know he takes more after his dad than his mom. 🙄

    • bisynaptic says:

Who’s the Angelina/Morticia draped on his arm?

    • NJGR says:

I doubt he takes after his dad. I bet if John were still around he’d be woke as hell.

      • bisynaptic says:

        John Lennon was a jerk.

      • MoonTheLoon says:

You haven’t paid much attention to John, have you? He was a prick in Woke’s clothing because he needed to remain relevant. He was a spoiled upper middle class guy playing Working Class Hero. He was horrible to most everyone except his enablers. Wrote a good tune here and again. That fell flat on its face when he went solo. I have no clue why people still fuss over him as they do.

    • Mel says:

Honestly, both parents were/are massive jerks. It’s imprinted in his DNA.

  9. Miranda says:

You’d think he’d empathize from the “son of a murdered parent” perspective, if nothing else. But I’m not surprised that he doesn’t get it. If I’m not mistaken, Sean is proof that it’s not always the younger child who is treated as the “spare”. Julian (and his mother) got the worst version of John.

    • Christine says:

I completely agree with you, he should empathize that they both suddenly and violently lost a parent when they were children. I think he’s salty because Julian has always gotten the public’s attention as John’s son, even if John himself was a terrible parent to him.

      • MoonTheLoon says:

He has the same goodwill available to him that Julian does. Probably more so amongst the diehard John stans because he was the one closest when John was murdered. He’s just accepted his role as John’s annointed and is happily coasting on the money and privilege. He also seems to have inherited his parents worst character traits and is happy as a pig in his own being that way. He’s exactly where he wants to be.

  10. Athena says:

Have not heard of him in years. So like everyone else trying to be relevant he has to talk about Harry. He’s in for the keep Harry’s name out of your mouth lesson.

    • TigerMcQueen says:

It’s kind of wild to me that John Lennon’s son is clout chasing Harry.

      • Christine says:

Right?! I’m obsessed with this interview, he really doesn’t get how many different levels he is failing as a human being capable of any kind of introspection. He is the very definition of whining…ABOUT HARRY! I love it, continue to be irrelevant, Sean!

  11. Izzy says:

This guy was crowned the golden child of his mother and late father, while John Lennon just walked away from Julian Lennon and allowed his new wife to treat Julian like crap. That’s who raised Sean, so not surprised he’s turned out to be a jerk. He was raised by two of them.

    • Chaine says:

To be fair his dad died when Sean was 5 so I don’t think John Lennon bears anywhere near the bulk of the blame on this.

      • kirk says:

I thought I liked John Lennon’s child’s music. Hah! Turns out it’s Julian’s music that I liked. Not sure I’ve heard Sean’s, but Rolling Stone assessment of his “genreless wash of instrumental music that flirts with jazz, rock, and electronic” is not compelling.

Didn’t know that Julian had been cut out of John’s will (left everything to Yoko and Sean), or that Julian had to fight Yoko 16 years in court to get $25M out of the $800M estate. Even worse, Yoko sounds like a vicious freak: “To make matters worse, after the settlement, Yoko began auctioning John’s possessions. This included letters that Julian had written to his father. Julian used his settlement proceeds to purchase these letters back.” (https://www.antonelli-legal.com/blog/litigating-john-lennon-estate-antonelli-and-antonelli.cfm)

      • Izzy says:

John Lennon could absolutely have set up his affairs to make sure his first child was properly taken care of, especially knowing his second wife hated the idea of Julian’s existence. He chose not to. He was a crap father and a crap husband. I’m not going to put him on a pedestal just because he fell into the luck of three talented bandmates.

      • MoonTheLoon says:

@Chaine- thing about that is that John’s BS behaviour is widely documented. Yoko cosigned or tolerated it. Seems he’s one of those with no self interest in improving because he’s got the money and privilege, regardless. Lazy nepo baby.

  12. Kokiri says:

I cannot Imagine what his father would think of this.
Considering Lennon wrote the most known empathetic song in history.

    • MSS says:

John Lennon was not that good of a person, if he were still alive he might have the same attitude.

      • C says:

Well considering John and Yoko wrote that song Woman is the N***** of the World as if Black women weren’t alive and struggling in 1972, I imagine they’d say Meghan is a crybaby or some other nonsense.

      • Ameerah M says:

@C He was also an abuser and I agree- I think John would actually be a lot like Sean if he were alive today.

    • wolfmamma says:

Strange little man.. with nothing going on but money…. And a Mom who’s music still sounds like a cat screeching… great credentials for an opinion about someone you don’t even know.

  13. TikiChica says:

The only interesting thing about him is the woman on his arm. Who is she, she’s gorgeous!

  14. sevenblue says:

There is no way someone who actually read the book can conclude that all Harry did is whine or something. He wrote what happened to him & Meghan because all his life story was sold to the tabloids mixed with lies. If he let it go like “anti-woke” people wanted him, they would repeat all the tabloid lies about him whenever his name comes up or about Meghan and how she made the white woman cry.

    • Nanny to the Rescue says:

Sadly a lot of people read it and came to that conclusion, but that’s because they already went into it with a negative attitude (I know a few, to my disdain).

  15. Dee(2) says:

Let’s see, monetized blue check on Twitter, check. Makes fun of someone incredibly popular but polarizing to some, check. Have a bunch of culture war other tweets, check. Increase follower account and thus payout, and the amount of fellow anti-woke people giving them engagement on a daily basis, check. These people are so transparent at this point it doesn’t make any sense. I’m sure Harry’s real broken up Sean Lennon.

  16. Tulipworthy says:

I have been to over 700 concerts, he is the worst act husband and I have ever seen. So I don’t think to much of him or his opinions.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

I listened to some of his stuff once. Utterly dreadful. This is 100% nepo baby.

    • booboocita says:

He’s a dilettante, pure and simple. No real talent, and no real passion for music, songwriting, or performing. Just a couple of solo albums that were released only in Japan and the USA and didn’t do well in either, after which he turned to producing. Tiresome man-boy.

    • kirk says:

Over 700 concerts!!! Count me stunned and amazed.

  17. Jane says:

Anti BLM, pro Putin talentless repo baby = Sean Lennon. He is basically a poor man’s Elon Musk. A truly revolting individual.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

I had no idea his politics were the exact opposite of his parents’. Strange he doesn’t address that elephant in the room.

  18. Ginger says:

Not surprised. All of these anti woke idiots/racists hate Harry and Meghan. Sean is nothing more than a clout chasing nepo baby. He probably wants a knighthood.

  19. Becks1 says:

So he didn’t actually read the book then? Because I don’t see how you can read the book and come away from it thinking that Harry is just whining.

    • Blithe says:

Well, it helps to have empathy — and not everyone does.

Poor little rich boy. Does he have a new project out — or does he just want attention for himself?

  20. Amy Bee says:

Whatever. Most people don’t know who he is.

  21. Tessa says:

Does Sean realize the derangers who trash Meghan also trash his mom. They compare Meghan to his mother not flattering to either of them . He’s appealing to derangers who don’t like his mother

    • Lady Digby says:

@Tessa agreed how vicious BM are about both Yoko and Meghan, I would have expected Sean to have a better understanding. BM also laughed at Sean for having his mother’s looks and her musical talent which I bet he didn’t find funny!

    • Christine says:

      100%.

  22. Eurydice says:

    I’d forgotten he existed.

    • Christine says:

I always forget about him too, which is weird since there is less than a year’s difference in our ages. I only remember Julian.

  23. Brassy Rebel says:

I wonder if this little “prince” is aware that right wing forces tried to deport his father decades ago and now they’re trying the same move on Harry. 🤔 Plenty of reasons for empathy it seems, but not much is felt.

  24. Subvers says:

I’m speechless. I remember the day John died like it was yesterday. I’ve spent decades defending yoko from the racists who still think SHE broke up the beetles. I can’t believe those two humans produced this toxic pos. I’m just speechless.

John was one of the most talented songwriters, communicators ever. 100x more than Paul who always rode his coat tails (bite me, I know that’s true. I’m almost their age and was around even in a recording studio). This makes me ill. Sorry Sean, you’re a d^ick and you’re cancelled. I had energy for him with what he’s been through. Ugh. OK that’s my crazy, angry, disappointed post.

Sean isn’t a spare, he’s actually a Willy. Pop stars don’t have spares they’re ALL willys unless there’s a major talent differential, which there isn’t in their family.. So they’re all entitled. No wonder. What a pos.

    • sevenblue says:

Mia Farrow tweeted that she wasn’t approving how H&M were making their family issues public. Mia Farrow said that with a straight face. I think, a lot of non-black people don’t care about a black woman getting abused by other white people and at worst, they think she somehow deserved it.

      • Subvers says:

Oh lordy.. Their carnival of media clowns. I expect it more from Mia f, she’s an older white woman who probably thinks their situations were different, but till.. These people tell on themselves.

      • sevenblue says:

@Subvers, yeah, she deleted it after a black woman told her how she supported her while her ex-husband, Woody Allen, was lying about her to the press after the scandal and questioned why she isn’t showing any empathy to a black woman in the same way. But, it is really interesting that was her first reaction. Now, if she also questioned the press and their stories about Meghan before they left, she wouldn’t look that bad, but they were all silent, watching the press destroying a black woman, then when she and her husband were sharing what really happened, they all started to tell them to be quiet. Why didn’t they say that to the press?

Mia’s daughter also contributed to the documentaries and shared her own story. You would think that she would see why H&M also needed to share their side of the story with the public after all the lies told about them.

      • MarqueeMoon says:

Agree, blaming a dad who died when the child was five years old for another adult humans actions? each adult owns their own actions
It would be like blaming Meghan for her dad‘s actions or blaming Harry for Charles actions, many people aren’t like their parents

    • Boxy Lady says:

I was also going to say that Sean is definitely the William in his family’s dynamic. Julian is more like Harry even though he was born first. John’s mistress May Pang is the one who got John to reconnect to Julian; John wasn’t doing that on his own, unfortunately. Yoko, the stepmother, was not encouraging John and Julian’s relationship. She didn’t treat Julian well after John died, either, I’ve heard.

      • Subvers says:

Apart from his John – like voice I must admit I don’t know as much about Julian career wise. I felt (without any evidence) Julian tried maintain legacy. And he seemed to have a decent relationship with Sean. John was a mess in many way in his later years relationship wise, though he wasn’t musically. I wondered who really wanted him dead.
His clip on Mind Games is genius and focussed

    • Maida says:

Subvers, agree with you about Sean’s behavior but your judgment of Paul McCartney is way too harsh — and John Lennon disagreed with it. In one of his last interviews he said he was proud to have chosen two people to partner with musically in a complete way: Paul and Yoko. I think it’s quite possible to prefer someone’s music without needing to tear someone else down.

      • MoonTheLoon says:

Don’t breathe too much life into her statement. She’s just like John stans, saying this crap hoping she gets picked. John’s talent is undisputed. But he slacked after the Beatles and you could see how much his “art” truly meant to him. These stans need to chill. John can’t pick them and Sean doesn’t care about them.

    • Jayna says:

Paul McCartney always rode John Lennon’s coattails? John was 100 times more talented you say. LMAO! They were both brilliant.

  25. C says:

This Spare Me pun wasn’t funny the first 90 million times the Karens online repeated it, it’s not funny now.

Looks like Sean is as classy and full of mature perspective as his mother. Team Julian Lennon.

  26. Blackapinay says:

Man. F him. He hasn’t done anything noteworthy, but be born to John & Yoko. I see someone who hasn’t read the book & clout chasing

  27. Mslove says:

“Jealousy is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius.”A nice quote for Sean Lennon to read and ponder. Mark David Chapman was said to have murdered John Lennon out of jealousy. Sigh.

  28. aquarius64 says:

What has this guy done lately? Another celebrity spawn who is trashing Harry for clout.

    • Athyrmose says:

      Well, let’s see…

He took to Twitter to reassure us that Vincent Gallo could not be guilty of SA or harassment/abuse of an actress on the set of his movie because he’s a cool dude, and they’ve been friends forever.

IIRC, he started grooming this girlfriend when she was a minor.

So he’s been quite busy being a garbage human.

      • See, I wrote above that he had probably done something creepy because all of these guys go hard Right because they know they’ll be protected and celebrated there.

And there it is. Also the defense of another sexual abuser because he’s his friend, lol. It’s a true wonder why his friend never sexually abused him! Wow! What a genius.

  29. Jaded says:

Yoko and John conceived Sean whilst addicted to heroin (and after several miscarriages due to their addictions). Maybe it affected his reasoning and empathy skillz because they are sadly lacking along with any discernable talent.

  30. Sue says:

A little late to the party isn’t he? I mean Spare came out over a year ago. And seriously he’s pro-Putin? I am feeling a little sick over that.

  31. Mel says:

Exhausting parents birth exhausting nepo baby who is STILL , trying to make a name for himself / achieve something of his own in his 40’s. Julian at least got a hit………

    • Jayna says:

Julian finally realized he wasn’t selling many records. His photography is stunning and something he won’t be compared to his father on. Back in 2010 Sean and Yoko attended his “Timeless” photograph exhibition in a show of support. He had his issues with Yoko, but he has said before he loves Sean.

      Julian:

      https://julianlennon-photography.com/video/

  32. Ameerah M says:

So he’s an a-hole just like his father? Got it.

    • Sue says:

I’ve never felt the same about John since I learned he supported the IRA. I still keep hoping that this was something that someone somewhere got wrong.

  33. TN Democrat says:

Tax the untalented nepo babies out of existence and bring them back down to Earth. This man is pushing 50, and much like Will-not, has lived a life of unearned luxury.

  34. Lola says:

It’s unfortunately the case that while Yoko has been the target of nonstop racist and misogynistic attacks for roughly 55 years, she has also behaved as a sheer sociopath in countless ways, especially when it comes to her hoard of money. Such as egging on John Lennon’s horrific treatment of son and wife from the time she was the other woman/ affair partner. Then after Lennon’s death forces him to buy back his own letters to his father. Speaking of Lennon’s first wife, he was completely open about the fact that he physically beat her and Julian. Even Sean has said Lennon screamed in his ear so loud as a 4 year old it ruptured his eardrum.

Lennon and Yoko were both bad people so I can’t say I’m that surprised Sean is too.

    • Mel says:

THIS! Yoko had the nerve to be sitting at his wife’s breakfast table in her robe, that’s how Cynthia met that woman. Yoko wasn’t to blame for the break up bu that woman is a piece of work.

      • Lola says:

Don’t forget Lennon brought her into the marital home, fucked her in the marital bed, and gave her full reign of his wife’s clothes and possessions. Both of them were truly rotten and encouraged each other’s malignant narcissism.

      • MoonTheLoon says:

@Lola- Was Yoko a child with an underdeveloped brain and no freewill of her own to not be a participant alongside John? It’s 50/50 responsibility with them two. I’m sick of the toxic feminism/positivity infantilisation of these crap people.

  35. Maida says:

Sean RICHLY deserves mockery — for one thing, in December of 2021 he tweeted about SkullXNFT NFTs and how they were for people who didn’t like “nauseatingly cute NFTs for little babies.” He praised these absolutely generic skull NFTs as “not for the faint of heart.” Sure seemed like he was being paid to promote them, and he’s since (of course) deleted the post.

  36. Karen says:

Sean Ono Lennon has a recent tweet that says, “Wokism is not a religion, it’s a full blown cult. I’m starting to realize we have to treat its members as victims of manipulation, indoctrination and abuse.”

The man is 48 years old and have never achieved anything of note in his entire life. Is is really this desperate to “Be somebody”?

  37. Lau says:

Given that I’m not going to scroll through this guy’s twitter page I’ll ask here : has anybody even asked for his review/opinion in the first place ?

  38. Thena says:

Maybe Sean is working on getting a knighthood from Future King Huevo.

  39. Jacques says:

Sean received all of the attention from his mommy and daddy, while Julian was essentially erased from their lives. He sees Harry as an extension of his half-brother and therefore mocks him. He is a spoiled baby-man who thinks he deserves all the attention. Grow up.

  40. QuiteContrary says:

He looks like a far less talented Weird Al Yankovic.

    And he talks absolute nonsense.

    • Christine says:

I do love that Julian looks like a carbon copy of John, while Sean has to grow his beard and hair out for people to notice the resemblance. You just know it has driven him nuts his entire life. Shades of William tantruming that he’s Diana’s true son everywhere.

  41. Aurora says:

He’s truly his mother’s son. There were too many issues at the core of The Beatles’ breakup -which most of them have acknowledged- for just blaming Yoko. But she seems to be a horrible, human being, devoid of any empathy or boundaries. So seemed to be John, he has zero sympathy from me, Paul forever!
She had her 5 mins of artistic thriving bc she was what was considered an exotic-looking woman doing weird abstract performance, which was kind of art gallery catnip back in the psychedelic era.
She had no qualm on sleeping with John in his marital house and pretty much helped John to alienate from Julian. She did interfere in The Beatles’ creative process and dragged John towards extremist political positions that many think might keep relation to his murder (which still was unjustifiable).
It wouldn’t surprise me if she’s also manipulated Sean into growing up as a narcissistic, insensitive twat.

No talent, no wit but a bit of a Twit! John was a giant and this guy is a germ and so he has to attack another giant to get some attention. Do not give him any time….no one of consequence rates him.

Personally what I like best about Harry is the whole Invictus Games and that is amazing IMO.
I have never heard that Sean has anything like that, in other words, a massive positive tool which aids Veterans in so many ways. I realize Harry is not in charge of the Games, but he has certainly been a big part in participating and promoting them.
