As we discussed yesterday, President Felon picked a fight on social media with his old nemesis Rosie O’Donnell, probably to try and deflect from his latest catastrophes. So the tyrant used his baby fists to type out that Rosie is “a threat to humanity” and that he was “giving serious consideration” to revoking her citizenship. The first is a lie, while the second I can no longer confidently say could never happen here (not with this Supreme Court and Congress). But Rosie unequivocally won the standoff with her biting comeback: “go ahead and try, king joffrey with a tangerine spray tan.” Nailed it. Rosie has garnered a lot of public support with her recent responses to the president coming at her out of nowhere, including from some perhaps unlikely places? A few months ago Rosie hinted at some longstanding tensions with fellow comedian Ellen DeGeneres, but that didn’t stop Ellen from voicing her support on Instagram:
Ellen DeGeneres is trying to bury the hatchet with Rosie O’Donnell.
After President Donald Trump shared a post on Truth Social saying he was considering “revoking” O’Donnell’s United States citizenship and she subsequently clapped back, DeGeneres stepped in with her own support.
Alongside screenshots of Trump and O’Donnell’s back and forth shared to Instagram July 13, the former Ellen DeGeneres Show host—who relocated to England earlier this year with wife Portia de Rossi—tagged The View alum and added, “Good for you.”
Meanwhile, O’Donnell—who moved to Ireland just before Trump’s January inauguration—defended herself.
“Hey Donald, you’re rattled again?” O’Donnell—mom to Parker, 30, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25, Vivienne, 22, and Clay, 12—wrote in her own July 13 Instagram post, alongside a photo of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein. “Eighteen years later and I still live rent-free in that collapsing brain of yours. You call me a threat to humanity—but I’m everything you fear a loud woman, a queer woman who tells the truth.”
The Now and Then alum went on to give insight into why she moved to Ireland with her adopted 12-year-old son.
“You build walls,” she continued. “I build a life for my autistic kid in a country where decency still exists.”
She added, “you want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try King Joffrey with tangerine spray tan. i’m not yours to silence and I never was.”
DeGeneres standing by O’Donnell publicly comes just months after O’Donnell admitted that the duo has a longstanding feud.
“It’s not like we’re tenaciously opposed to each other,” O’Donnell told Us Weekly in an April interview. “We’re just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do.”
O’Donnell admitted she was taken aback that DeGeneres followed through with her move to England upon Trump’s second term.
“I’ve never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump,” she continued. “Like, that shocked me, actually.”
You guys, E! News is killing me with the hyperbole! Was it genuinely nice of Ellen to back Rosie as she defended herself against a president hurtling us towards a constitutional crisis with the threat of revoking a US citizen’s very citizenship? Yes, that was actually Ellen being kindx. But E! News claiming “Ellen wants to bury the hatchet!” and titling the article “Ellen comes to Rosie’s defense!” And then, what… Ellen has spared all of three words total in support: “Good for you.” Cracks me up. I mean, it’s a better direction Ellen’s headed in with this post, as opposed to, say, acting like she’d never heard of Rosie before (iykyk). But still, the brevity of the caption is getting to me. Maybe even just an exclamation point would have helped — like this! — making it seem more like supporting the resistance, and less like offering humdrum congratulations to someone getting a raise. As for the two of them having history, first off, join the club, Ro! Second, “I’ve never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life,” was an expertly, stealthily made dig. At every turn, Rosie is winning the war of the words.
LOL the shade.
I definitely understand the urge to leave this shithole country especially when you have a nonbinary (or gay or trans) kid like Rosie reportedly does. But it’s frustrating to read stories about rich folks just packing up and leaving when so many working class folks have neither the money nor the resources to do the same.
Ultimately, I don’t blame Rosie or Ellen for doing what they’re financially able to do–something I’m sure many in the LGBTQ community would *also* like to do. But it does make me respect the rich folks who stay and fight even more.
I wish Ellen had referenced her wife’s show Arrested Development and said “Good for her.” instead (iykyk).
His pickled brain can only think of Rosie🤭
I think the surprising thing is that George W Bush hugger thinks the next incarnation of a Republican President is so bad that she had to move across the globe.
I’m so glad public figures like Rosie keep needling him. He’s desperate for adulation and can’t stand it when people don’t bow down to him.
Yep. We all support Rosie.
Who wouldn’t? She’s an icon fighting the good fight for all people everywhere. Brave. You go, girl!
