Brittany Snow is starring in the series The Hunting Wives, with Malin Ackerman and Dermot Mulroney, which is currently the second most-watched Netflix show. (Untamed and Amy Bradley is Missing are at number one and three.) I’ve seen the first two episodes, and while it’s unlikely I’ll finish it (the writing is uneven and I already looked up spoilers), Snow is a standout. She has great chemistry with Malin Ackerman, who is also a much stronger actress than I expected. Snow is one of those actresses who makes you think “where has she been?” She’s been working steadily since her breakout in Pitch Perfect in 2012, although she admited in a new People interview that it isn’t easy being an actress. I came away from this brief profile with a lot of respect for Snow and her outlook on work and success.
On her career and struggling for jobs
“I don’t think I’ve made it…“It’s always a struggle… I’m always wondering what my next job is going to be or if going to ‘make it,’ in a way. I think that’s the same for every actor — unless you’re Tom Cruise or something…”
No matter where her career takes her, Snow — who will also star in the Hulu Murdaugh Murders limited series later this year — is proud of the person she’s become and is still becoming.
“I think my idea of success when I was younger was this sort of one-track mind of needing to be Julia Roberts because as a 10-year-old girl, everyone wants to be Julia Roberts,” she says. “I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that there’s so many different forms of success. Success, to me, is the fact that I’m still doing this, and I love it even more now. I remind myself all the time that I didn’t give up.”
“I’ve been around since people were kids, so they grew up with me as I was growing up,” she says. “I know with the people who influenced me the most, growing up, and the actresses that I looked up to, I do feel like I know them. And when I meet them, they mean more to me than anything because they showed me what it was like to be a woman.”
On her dad’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis
Though she’s been “grieving” her dad John, 86, since his Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis about six years ago, she says he’s still her “biggest cheerleader.”“Alzheimer’s is just a terrible, terrible disease,” she says. “Not being able to tell him about certain things is really hard, but he’s still there in a way. I do tell him everything that I can, and I can still hold his hand. I’m just holding onto those moments as tightly as possible because I know that his soul knows and is happy for me.”
I appreciate when actors explain how much they hustle. It’s success to her to just be able to work as an actress, which is a perspective I try to have with my career too. I’m happy she has more work lined up after this. It’s news to me that there’s a new dramatization of the Murdaugh Murders coming, but I just learned that there are two movies with the same name starring Bill Pullman which were released by Lifetime in 2023. This series is from Hulu and seems to be a separate project. Snow is playing podcaster Mandy Matney, who was one of the first to report on the saga. Matney is pumped about it and posted that she’s admired Snow since she was a child. Snow essentially said the same thing to People, that it’s cool to meet her idols. Snow recently worked with Claire Danes on the upcoming thriller The Beast in Me, and said that she watched My So Called Life growing up and that “getting to work opposite of her and becoming friends with [Claire] was such an honor for me.” That’s sweet! I’m happy for her and will definitely follow her career.

I kind of vaguely remember her being on Guiding Light? I’m glad she’s still working and loving it. And Malin Ackerman has always been interesting to watch.
Was she? I loved GL. Reva Shayne and Josh Lewis ALWAYS.💖
I don’t think i was still watching GL when she was on in 1999-2000 (yeah, i keep imdb at the ready)
But Beverley- Me too on Reva and Josh.
I watched the shit out of that in the 80s.
But i knew her from Hairspray, and she had a 5 episode arc on Nip/Tuck- a wild show. And i bet if i saw her character i would remember her there too.
After watching the Station Agent, the first place i saw Peter Dinklage was on his Nip/Tuck arc.
I don’t think I still watched it then either but when my grandma visited we had to make sure to record GL and I think we still vcr’ed it back then. That’s why I feel like I vaguely remember? I def remember the characters from when I was younger and would stay with my grandma in the summer. Her room with the tv had the only ac, lol. But also the bunny ears with the static where you’d start hitting the tv. Only time I’d hear my grandma curse is when the static came on during her soaps. So yes, Reva and Josh.
I remember her from the series “American Dreams”. I thought she was very good in that and would go places.
I loved that show, and she was a standout.
Omg same! I was looking for this comment because American Dreams was when I first became a fan as well and felt the same way about her. I loved that show and use to watch it every week. She has been at it a long time is very talented so I’m glad she is still at it and enjoying it. I was shocked that she was married to the guy from Selling the OC, but she filed for divorce when all his messiness came out so there’s that.
Have always liked Snow. She was terrific in “American Dreams”—the center of a very strong cast. (A bummer it was on across from “Cold Case,” which was also terrific.) She’s insightful about her career, too…
I dunno, when I watched the movie “X” I couldn’t stop wondering if she lost all her money to some bad investments.
She was also in Hairspray. Very talented
