Jennifer Lopez ‘has come a long way’ since her marriage fell apart last year

Ben Affleck’s 53rd birthday came and went last week with few people saying anything. Same with Jennifer Lopez’s 56th birthday on July 24th. Suddenly, the two Leos were pretty quiet during Leo Season. Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of when Jennifer finally had enough and filed for divorce from Ben. He’d pretty much quiet-quit the marriage in the spring of 2024, and Jennifer spent months trying to convince him to come back to her and really be husband and wife. It didn’t work. Since she filed for divorce, Jennifer has been single. Is this the first time in decades that she’s been without a boyfriend or partner for a full year? I think so. Well, in any case, Jennifer is doing okay. “Sources” gave an update to People Magazine.

Jennifer Lopez is moving forward, one year after filing for divorce from ex-husband Ben Affleck. The star, who turned 56 in July, has remained busy in the year since her marriage to Affleck, 53, ended, premiering new movies and hitting arenas across the globe for this summer’s “Up All Night Tour.”

The tour has been treating Lopez well, as a source tells PEOPLE, “She’s been having the time of her life this summer. She loved connecting with fans all over the world. The tour was amazing. It’s been a great focus for her. She’s been doing what she really enjoys,” the source says about the performer, who is also mom to 17-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Lopez will also soon start promoting her upcoming movie musical Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“This is the movie she filmed last year in New York when she and Ben were going through a difficult time. She’s come a long way since. She’s very happy and just grateful for her life,” says the source.

I really respect J.Lo for so many reasons. Like, she made a point of marking the anniversary of her divorce filing, but she still noted that she’s got a potential awards-bait film coming out soon. Jennifer has never won a major acting award, and I hate the idea that she’s going to hustle her ass off for Kiss of the Spider Woman and then she’ll just be disappointed again. Like, if those people didn’t respect what she did in Hustlers, trust me when I say they’re not going to respect what she’s doing in KOTSW. Still, I hope Jennifer is okay and it sounds like she is.

This may be controversial but I think she absolutely deserved an Oscar nom for Hustlers… maybe a win. She was excellent in that film. I can’t help but root for her.

  2. Kitten says:

Glad she’s not jumping into another relationship. Hope she continues to focus on herself, her career and spending time with her kids. Rooting for her.

  3. Lucy says:

Wow, her kids are close to being out of the house (if they do college). I hope she can stay single until they’re out so they don’t have to deal with the drama. Has the $65 million or whatever albatross house she and Affleck bought in LA been unloaded yet? I felt like that seemed to be really indicative of their problems.

Really interesting questions. Got curious and just asked ChatGPT, which referred me to Page Six and People articles on this and apparently they took it off the market in July 2025 after not finding buyers for a year, even after a price cut, waiting for a friendlier buyer climate…… Not sure Links get posted here but if you google the title: Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck make surprising ‘business decision’ after finalizing divorce: report. This Leads you to the Page Six report

She was great in Out of Sight, too.

That is a stunning top picture of her, and I second her staying single. No one will know how much work she had to put into to not couple-up to cope with her heartache. Holy Hannah!!! That body.
