Here are some photos of Sydney Sweeney attending events at the Toronto International Film Festival. She went to TIFF to premiere Christy, the bio-pic of boxer Christy Martin. The pics in this post are from the premiere event and the afterparty, where Sydney changed into a black gown. Her premiere look was a pale pink corseted gown by Erdem. Which… it’s fine. I don’t hate it, and it’s flattering for her figure, but the skirt is a mess.
TIFF was Sydney’s first time back in public and in a press junket since all of this summer’s controversies. There was the American Eagle-eugenics issue, and on the heels of that, we learned that Sydney is a registered Republican in Florida. She’s also been dating Scooter Braun for several months, which I consider a stand-alone controversy because it’s in such bad taste for her. When asked about some of these scandals, Sydney told Vanity Fair: “I am there to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans. The movie’s about Christy, and that’s what I’ll be there to talk about.”
As for the movie, the critical buzz from TIFF is that Sydney has done a fantastic job in the role and she might have a shot at some awards. The NY Times rather patronizingly asked: “With ‘Christy,’ Can Sydney Sweeney Rebrand as a Serious Actress?” This is an actress with two Emmy nominations, mind you.

The pink dress is truly atrocious. And that’s the nicest thing I have to say about her, now that we know she’s the worst.

I give her another year, 2-3 tops. She’s a useful cudgel who will go the way of Diamonds and Silk. She’s doesn’t even have the body of work and krazy kook factor of Roseanne Barr.

Just Googled Scooter Braun’s net worth. It’s estimated at about $1 billion, so I think it’s fair to say she’s already investing in that retirement plan. He’s probably not thinking marriage, though. She might need to pull an Anna Nicole.
I dare say that mrs. bezos has nothing nailed down. marrying wealth does not make you wealthy unless you stay married, and even then, financial abuse is very common with men with no souls. and kk may be wealthy, but i never know with those grifters and their smoke and mirrors, and what a price she paid to get her coin

It’s such an odd choice because it’s going to alienate what’s left of her female fan base. Even right wing Swifties do not forgive and forget.
But is she catering to a female fan base? I feel like she’s living in a bygone era when the assumption was you attract male fans and the women will follow.
I really hope that she’s going to invest some of her ad revenue cash into a decent tailor for her dresses. I think that the dress would look much better in a jewel tone, the pink is washing her out.

It’s weird to me that there are two movies called “Christy” out at the exact same time. I saw this headline and was like “why is Sydney Sweeney at the premiere of an Irish indie movie?” Irish Christy is getting amazing reviews. I hope it doesn’t get overlooked by awards or at the box office bc folks are confused by the name.

Already going for the Oscar-baity biopic, huh? That didn’t take long. From what I’ve seen she’s not a bad actress but, I don’t know, she makes it really hard to root for her.
She needs to take a break, ala JLaw, so we can forget what we didn’t like about her.
The things people didn’t like about JLaw were harmless. Some came to find her annoying and became tired of her oversaturation.
SS being MAGA Barbie is not something that gets forgotten by the target audience for “serious actresses”, and a couple of Emmy noms for playing teen bait on HBO doesn’t make her Jennifer Lawrence.
I don’t think she’s had as much success as JLaw to be able to take a break yet. JLaw had HG and Silver Linings and those were pretty big deals. So I don’t see her not working anytime soon. And why not work while she can and while the offers are still there. Bc that doesn’t always last forever. There is a small pool of people who can always keep working. Maybe she’ll end up being one of them. Or not. Guess we see.
I think Pajiba might have said the movie is crap, so there’s that. I don’t care for her recent choices but there seems to be a bit of arrogance coming off of her like she thinks none of this will stick to her.
