Last week was full of drama about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, both of whom live in Royal Lodge on the Royal Windsor estate. Sarah’s 2011 email to Jeffrey Epstein was published two weekends ago, and in that email, Sarah apologized profusely to Epstein and basically told him that she still considered him a friend and she only bad-mouthed him to save her career and herself. In the wake of that, eight charities have now cut their ties with Fergie and there’s a lot of talk about how Fergie and Andrew should be forced out of Royal Lodge. Throughout it all, there’s been little mention of Princess Beatrice and Eugenie. That’s the nice thing about the York princesses being in their 30s, with their own families and lives. They don’t really live and die by their parents’ shenanigans at this point.
Well, one charity did want to cut their ties with Beatrice. The Mail’s Eden Confidential had a big piece about Outward Bound Trust, which Beatrice took over as patron from her father in 2019. Even though Richard Eden is trying to make a meal out of this, it actually sounds like a coincidence that Beatrice’s tenure as patron of the trust is coming to a close. Who even knows. One thing is for sure, though – Beatrice and Eugenie will never be called upon to become semi-working royals after their parents’ mess. From the Mail’s Charlotte Griffiths:
Princess Beatrice is said to have ‘lost all hope’ of becoming a working Royal thanks to the deepening scandal engulfing the House of York. Friends of Beatrice, the eldest daughter of the beleaguered Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, say she would have been keen to help ease the burden on King Charles and Prince William by carrying out more Royal engagements.
The King is said to have been impressed by her elegance and enthusiasm during recent joint appearances and is keenly aware of the need to boost the number of working Royals as he continues to be treated for an undisclosed form of cancer and the Princess of Wales recovers from her own battle with the disease. But with his strict stance against half-in-half-out Royals working for the Firm, nothing yet has ever come of their mutual appreciation. Now aides insist nothing ever will.
New files showing phone message logs, copies of flight logs and manifests for aircraft, as well as copies of financial ledgers belonging to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were released by Congressional Democrats in the US on Friday night, naming the Duke of York, as well as billionaire Elon Musk, among them. It comes after revelations about Prince Andrew in biography Entitled by Andrew Lownie, and the emergence of grovelling emails sent by the Duchess of York to Epstein. All are said to have cast doubt over whether it would be appropriate for 37-year-old Beatrice – ninth in line to the throne – to take on a more prominent role.
The Mail on Sunday understands that courtiers have concerns about further damaging revelations that will emerge about the duke’s relationship with the convicted paedophile after reports in this newspaper that the Epstein Files contain a cache of more than 100 emails that ‘could destroy Andrew’.
A source close to her said: ‘Beatrice does want to be a working Royal and she wants to do Royal events to help her uncle because she’d enjoy them and she would be good at the job. Charles apparently appreciates this . . . There had at one stage been a feeling that Bea could have been lined up one day. She’s never put a foot wrong, don’t forget – and she shouldn’t be punished for the sins of her father. But the King’s courtiers are concerned Andrew could try to ‘get in via the back door’ by exerting influence over her.’
My theory is that Charles and William dangled the promise of “maybe you’ll be a working royal some day” in front of Beatrice and she thoroughly took the bait. That being said, Beatrice is basically the model for half-in working royalty already – she has a slate of private charity patronages, she appears at family events and some state events, and she generally keeps to “the rules.” My guess is that she will continue to just… do what she’s been doing for years already. No, she won’t ever be a “full-time working royal,” and maybe she wants to be. But she actually has what they said Harry and Meghan couldn’t have: a half-in relationship, with a high-paying job and invitations to all family events. Beatrice also volunteers for the King’s Foundation, and she attended a foundation event alongside Charles and Camilla this year.

I think Edo may want her to be a working royal more than she does.
Just want to add that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are HRHs, earn money themselves, have husbands who benefit commercially re: their own business activities, are also involved with charities and attend royal events, etc. The hypocrisy and double standards are mind-blowing.
Neither one of the York daughters were ever going to be working royals. The behavior of their parents is just a convenient excuse to finally close the door on that, sorry Edo.
I’m curious as to their future at Royal family events. Will they receive invitations now that their parents have been banished? Will they be uncomfortable attending without their parents?
I’m glad the Sussexes do not have the half in/out arrangement. They further they are from that toxic dysfunctional ‘mafia’ family/institution, the better they are.
They should however have been safe to travel to the UK to visit family, friends and charities. Removing their security and denying them a RMB analysis of their security risk is wrong and in my opinion, unforgivable.
Given how awful Will is going to be as King both York sisters should be grateful not to have him as boss. He doesn’t do extended family and won’t be hosting them at Christmas, Easter and Balmoral. How fortunate for Will to have found his tribe with Kate, Ma Midds, Clive, Jason and the rest of the backstabbers!
That’s very interesting because one of the criticisms of the Sussexes is that they don’t have any family around them. It doesn’t seem like William does either apart from his in- laws and the family events where he’s thrown together with the extended royals. He doesn’t publicly do much with his royal cousins or his Spencer side. If he does it’s rarely mentioned. It seems like Harry is more in touch with the Spencer’s and he’s hosted Eugenie. Also Meghan has her mom, her niece and I suspect other relatives on her mom’s side.
I have ALWAYS felt bad how their parent’s deplorable ways…ALWAYS dirty them up…and it is RELENTLESS 😱 Because the truth of the matter is that the 🇬🇧 Royal Family…DESPERATELY needs the York Princess…they NEED their youth…vitality…consistency & I think both Princesses would be the working Royals their Parents could NEVA be and that William & Kate are UNABLE to be…
@Lala11_7 – inclined to agree with you. Unfortunately Chuck had his heart on a slimmed down monarchy early on. So he cut off York girls’ security, and discouraged any possible hopes Beatrice had of working for BRFCo. Not sure how Chuck had the work plan allotment all envisioned…
Maintaining a business without reliable staff is not sustainable. Will and Kate have a decade of none achievement behind them and despite significant promotion in 2022 have reduced their workload and started skipping major events without explanation. She still on a phased return after serious illness and maybe will never be able to do more than a handful of events plus Wimbledon ovation each year. I would have thought prudent planning would have meant asking the Yorks to carry out the bread and butter engagements to ensure continuity of service?
She’s crazy if she really wants to be a working royal. The press believes that they have right to know everything going on in the working royals’ lives and Palace will use her as the scapegoat
Exactly @Amy Bee who would want to work for Will and be at the mercy of the vicious BM? It’s revealing that Harry and Meghan are given the Zapruder treatment: conspiracy theories, over analysis of everything, made up sources, body language “experts”, endless best friends they met once at a charity event, Angela Loopy “knowing” how they really feel about relatives! Yet PoW are practically perfect in every way because mainly sugary stuff is gushed about them. Videos of them indicate strain between them and a lack of substance to their occasional events. Yes they have had a few brickbats lately but nothing compared to the scrutiny of Harry and Meghan. Top four are exempt the rest are work horses and fodder for the BM as needed. Anybody signing up to be thrown under the bus when a scapegoat is needed should reconsider!!
When William becomes king he and she will be expected to host, entertain, privately and publicly. Has anyone read anything about Kate throwing a dinner party? Will she be up to the job?
