Julia Roberts rewore a dress from 2022 to the After the Hunt premiere

After the Hunt opens in theaters this Friday, October 10. Its Los Angeles premiere went down this past Saturday. The only big names in attendance were stars Julia Roberts and Michael Stuhlberg, who were there alongside director Luca Guadagnino. Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Chloe Sevigny, and the rest of the cast were not there, but they were all at the film’s premiere at the New York Film Festival last weekend, which included a Q&A panel discussion with Julia, Ayo and Andrew.

For the LA premiere, Julia wore a hot pink Greta Constantine dress. If it looked familiar, that’s because it was a rewear! Julia previously wore this same dress to the Ticket to Paradise premiere back in October 2022 during Hollywood’s Barbiecore Era. For this October premiere, she had the length altered, so it’s a few inches shorter than when she first wore it.

“This is the same dress I wore to the ‘Ticket to Paradise’ premiere in L.A. three years ago,” the Oscar winner told me on the red carpet at the Academy Museum. “October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so I wear it in honor of my best friend, who is a breast cancer survivor.”

Roberts has a been on a non-stop press and premiere tour since “After the Hunt” debuted in August at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by Nora Garrett, “After the Hunt” stars Roberts as a college professor whose student (Ayo Edebiri) accuses a fellow colleague (Andrew Garfield) of sexual assault. Rounding out the cast are Chloë Sevigny, Thaddea Graham, Will Price, Lio Mehiel and Ariyan Kassam.

Roberts walked the carpet on Saturday with Michael Stuhlberg, who plays her husband in the movie.

“I have a been a longtime admirer of Michael’s and I think from the beginning there was just something that felt so good and always a little where is this going to go?” Roberts said. “It just felt right. I never knew what Michael was going to do. He was always doing something.”

I was a huge fan of Barbiecore, so I loved this fun dress when Julia first wore it. It felt like something I would wear. I don’t love the new length. I think it puffs the hemline out too much, which makes it less flattering. It just looks a little too fru fru for my taste. That said, I still love the heck out of that hot pink color and give her mad props for recycling the dress. I appreciate it when female celebrities either rewear their own old dresses or wear dresses worn by the famous women who came before them (this includes when Blake Lively wore Britney’s old floral dress). These dresses are too beautiful to only be worn once.

There’s so much buzz about After the Hunt that I’m genuinely curious to read the reviews for it. It’s not my type of movie, but it’s also got Oscar bait written over it. I think it could very well end up being one of those movies where people water cooler (Reddit cooler? TikTok cooler?) its ending, which makes me want to see it so I can be a part of the conversation.

Oh I prefer it shorter. When long it looks like it wears her!

    • DouchesOfCambridge says:

Personally, I prefer the longer but i’d find more occasions to wear the shorter version.

Diana was the best at doing revised rewear. Loved it everytime when they did before/after shots

  2. Indica says:

I don’t like either version, it looks like the 80s come to life and a dress my mother would have tried so hard to get me to wear.

So…. personal choice is a ‘no’. I’m a bit curious about the movie though!

  3. ariel says:

Due to my age, i can only see a 1980s prom dress.
    Bright and puffy.

Not to my taste. Highlighter color.

I too am curious about the movie.
It looks like it may have that- well i am an excellent judge of character so there is no way *my* dear friend is a rapist- vibe, the one i get from diane keaton.

  4. olliesmom says:

Hey, the economy is getting tough.

The dress looks so much better shorter, but I still don’t like the dress.

  5. Amy says:

Don’t really like the dress but good for her, if she likes it she might as well wear it.

  6. AMB says:

2022? More like 1982, and it was tragic back then too.

  7. MsIam says:

I like the dress shorter too. The longer version kind of dragged her down, imo.

  8. JEM says:

I loooove the necklace. That is gorgeous.

    • Libra says:

Don’t you think it’s too overdone? The white stone on top of the middle pink stone just doesn’t look right, as if the designer said, got a leftover stone here, let’s stick it somewhere. I think the blue stone doesn’t add anything, nicer look if it were all the same shade of pink.

  9. Pamela says:

I like the *way* this was shortened – it looks like it was taken up at the waist instead of the hem so that the distance between the last flounce and the hem is the same, which is interesting to me.

  10. KC says:

Good Lord. She’s a terrible dresser. Of all the dresses to re-wear. When are tiers goin g away?

  11. Molly says:

I’m dying at everyone saying it looks like an 80s prom dres because that is so much like my prom dress from 1982 (it was Laura Ashley). I loved it then and I love this still, including the shorter version. Maybe I’ll shorten mine lose 50lbs and give it a second life! Lol
