One of the biggest indicators that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were genuinely serious about making their marriage work is that they immediately got really entangled professionally. Jennifer was doing Dunkin Donuts ads, for crying out loud! And Ben’s Artists Equity produced several of Jennifer’s films, films she’s still promoting even one year after her divorce from Ben. Kiss of the Spider Woman is one of those films – Jennifer stars, Bill Condon directs, and Ben/Artists Equity executive produced it. Last night was the New York premiere, and surprise! Ben came out to support an Artists Equity film and his ex-wife.
I suspect that Jennifer knew Ben might turn out, because she looked especially cute. She wore a Harris Reed ensemble – as she arrived, she wore the dress without the “sculptural” thing at the waist, and she just paired the dress with a fur coat. Then she added the sculptural thing for the photos, to pose with Ben. On stage, she thanked Ben, saying: “Thank you so much, thank you everybody for being here tonight. Thank you, Ben, this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben and without Artist Equity.” Ben also spoke at the premiere, saying: “My goal was to empower great artists and tell moving stories and great opportunities for these kinds of great stories to be told and to work with the best directors in the world and the best material. In this movie, we did all that and it’s an honor to be here.”
Some people say that Bennifer could go another round. God, I hope not. I hope and believe that the last time was the final round, and Jennifer got burned really badly. This is the marriage and relationship which changed her. I hope she’s smart enough not to fall for Ben’s BS anymore. But look at her face… whew. Ben really is her Achilles.

Ben Affleck loves getting Oscars so I am not surprised he is willing to play the” will they, won’t they” game when promoting this movie. Brad Pitt did the same with a willingly participating Jen Aniston for his awards run. I don’t want JLo to get hurt but I want her to be considered for awards for her role.
I’d like to think that her structured gown was an attempt to keep him at bay. I hope for her sake she doesn’t allow him back into her intimate life.

She looks gorgeous. Leave him alone Jen. You can do better, including being alone. That’s a way better option. I have a friend like this that is just in love with love. But lately she is waking up a bit. I think the fact that Jennifer was able to do this on her own and not have another man there says a lot. Go at it alone for a second Jen. You are enough and don’t need any of these fools.
I have a different take on the Bennifer thing. I don’t think she’s over him and I don’t think she ever will be. He’s doesn’t want her because he knows he can have her anytime he wants. He’s a man-child who only wants what he can’t have. He went after her when she was married the first time. The second time, she was in a long-term relationship with Alex Rodriguez. Once he got her, he didn’t want her. I think she likely kissed his a$$, which is an eventual turn off for people like him that are all about the chase. For Jen, there will never be another Ben. But, Ben has no respect for her because he’s ran all over her and he knows she’ll always be in love with him. It’s really sad, in my opinion.
Maybe she only wants him because she knows she can’t keep him? Either way life is too short to waste your time on toxic losers, imo.
They never should have gotten married. I said it back then. They just should have done the girlfriend-boyfriend thing, had their fun while maintaining their separate homes, careers, etc. No pressure, just enjoy later mid-life doing enjoyable things together. If it fizzles out, so be it. But no. They just had to go and get married and create a big spectacle when it inevitably crashed. Goofy.
She needed that big wedding, though, to overcome the heartbreak of the first time around when the wedding got canceled!
I agree with your take Miranda! He doesn’t respect her, and deep down, he resents being worshipped. Jen G worshipped him and so does JLO. He loves chasing and love bombing. He loves big big gestures (one thing he does have going for him is his exquisite taste in jewelry) but he is toxic. He’s bad for any woman in his orbit except those who can detach. He is not a long term guy that you marry and build a life with. And I say this as someone who sort of likes Ben – he is smart, bilingual, seems like a good dad, talented, funny, etc.
I also think JLO will never be over him. Her face says it all cause I would have been wincing in those pics and swatting that hand off my hip immediately. I can’t judge it. I never had anyone make me feel like I they are the one and you never completely recover when they leave.
I think we will see one or two more rounds of Bennifer in our lifetimes sadly.
