Tom Brady: ‘I don’t have much time for a personal life or much time for myself’

We talked about Tom Brady just after New Year’s. He spent NYE in St. Barts with all of the other celebrities and billionaires, like Jeff Bezos and Leo DiCaprio. There was an influencer partying down there too – 25-year-old Alix Earle was seen at the same events as Brady, and there were rumors that they were flirting or hooking up or something. This man is 48 years old, what does he even have to say to a 25-year-old? Well, obviously, Tom doesn’t want people to think that there’s anything going on with Alix Earle or anyone else. Tom just told People Mag that he’s all about work and his children these days. Jack is already 18!!

Tom Brady says he doesn’t “have much time for a personal life” these days. Speaking to PEOPLE at the Fanatics Studios launch party in Los Angeles on Jan. 13, the retired quarterback says he’s all work and little play lately.

“You know what? I don’t have much time for a personal life or much time for myself, but I love working and I love my kids,” Brady says.

“I like to be busy and try to really stay fulfilled in the things I’m doing, so I’m working on some really cool projects and I’m involved with some great teams of people that are doing some really positive things,” he continues.

The father-of-three adds, “And then obviously, my little babies at home,” before correcting himself, “No, they’re not babies anymore.”

“My oldest is 18,” Brady says, referring to son Jack, who he shares with his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan. “But seeing him thrive and grow, and there’s nothing greater for a parent when you’re seeing your kids do well.”

Updating PEOPLE on Benjamin Rein and Vivian Lake, who he shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, Brady says Benjamin, 16, “is doing great as a sophomore” and his “little baby girl in seventh grade,” Vivian, 13, “is a little kick-ass volleyball player,” he says.

“I’m so blessed in so many parts of my life,” Brady adds.

[From People]

Tom may have been an absent husband who refused to retire from football when he promised, but I’ve always believed that he’s a great father who spends tons of time with his kids. Going from what he’s said over the years, Jack seems to be the one who is most similar to Tom, while Benjamin and Vivian are more like Gisele. As for the “no time for a personal life” – I don’t know. He is pretty busy these days, even though he’s technically retired. My guess is that being in a romantic relationship simply isn’t a priority for him?

  1. Well he is a part owner of an NFL team the Raiders and he is a commentator on Fox and covers games. Plus the businesses that he owns and he has said himself that he is in the gym too much so yes he may not have time for a personal life. I also think he was stunned the Giesele went through with the divorce so he is carrying some baggage there too.

Honestly it sounds like he never had time for a marriage. If working like this is what he wants out of life then yeah, everyone is in a better place.

    • SarahCS says:

Agreed, not everyone wants a permanent romantic partner in their life all of the time and thats ok. Do what makes you happy. Enjoying your work and spending time with your kids sounds pretty good to me.

This! He is living his life like he was during his marriage. He said it himself in the past, that he was pretty much gone during the season and the rest of the year he had his other projects, and Gisele had to remind him that he had a family as well. How often did we hear during their marriage – from either of them – that football was is no 1 love. Tell this your wife often enough and see what happens….
Also, Kaiser’s statement that he spends “tons of time” with his kids, doesn’t sit right with me. It sounds like he actively changed that. But it’s actually due to the divorce. Now, if he wants to see his kids, he needs to plan for something and take some time off. If he was still married, seeing them a few times per week in the background of the house would suffice. I see this with so many men…

I think it’s hilarious how Tom shuts down every tabloid attempt to involve him in a celebrity romance. Like it’s not enough that he’s the GOAT and a football legend, he has to be draped with females.

  4. Mosshearted says:

I think if he met the right person, he’d make time for them. I also think his divorce was probably pretty devastating for him, so maybe he’s still working through that.

    • Tasha says:

He’s definitely still working through the divorce, but he has no one to blame but himself for his marriage ending.

  5. CheekImplant says:

I much prefer a divorcee like him just focus on his kids and his career, instead of dragging his kids through tons of short-term relationships (like what JLo and Ben A have done to their kids over the years.

  6. Jegede says:

He has all these contracts, yet the man is doing commercials for pizza hut and weight loss companies.

    Does he owe back taxes?

    • Lucy says:

He did lose a lot and get fined for that crypto thing he was in ads for (and invested in). I don’t think he needs the money, I think he’s just rebuilding his pool of money to swim in like Scrooge mcduck

  7. Truthiness says:

Brady is a co-owner of the Raiders who just fired their head coach. They’ve interviewed 7 candidates in the short time since the firing and of course Brady’s judgments on each will be considered. He broadcasts the games for Fox ($300M contract) and he’s become really informative, he’ll break down how you have to throw into the wind or he’ll show how defenses lock down all targets and what QBs have to do after that. It’s the playoffs and he has to watch every game, not just the ones he’s assigned to. Nobody in their right mind should expect him to do anything but football for the time being.

  8. Tiffany says:

I guess I am the only one who thinks Jack looks like Bridget, but just with Tom’s chin.

  9. jferber says:

Tiffany, yes, just recently Jack looks so much like his mom, whereas before he looked like his dad. I think Jack is taller than his dad now.

  10. Dierski says:

Yeah, dating just isn’t a priority for him, because when you’re that extremely wealthy you can make time for it if you want to. He’ just doesn’t seem to be feeling it.

My kids are similar age to his, and I’m also working through some rough divorce emotions as well… and I’m honestly feeling his vibe of throwing himself into work. Extra time just goes to the kids these days, and I love it.

Tbh, I giggle a little at every single commercial he’s in (like rental cars, so random!), and I ask him What are you doing, man?? 🙂 But I also really relate to him in this phase of life; from a real non-fan over here too.

  11. a mascarada says:

Happy to see Tom Brady has a good relationship with his kids.
I gather Bridget and Gisele are good enough people to help him with that as well.
As for his random commercials, I don’t follow US Football and I’m not in US so I don’t know how much he’s making nowadays but hey, even Gisele’s done some endorsements of second line jewelry and sandals and worked for her so what do I know…
