Princess Kate was sent out solo to a Six Nations rugby match on Saturday

Here are some photos of the Princess of Wales on Saturday, going solo at a Six Nations rugby match. She watched England vs. Ireland, and England got their asses handed to them, 21-42. Kate was made the royal patron of England’s Rugby Football Union several years back. She “took over” the royal patronage from Prince Harry, because the palace forced him to give it up after the Oprah interview five years ago. This was also Kate’s first public appearance in more than a week (she was on vacation), and her first public event since her uncle-in-law Prince Andrew was arrested on Thursday, February 19th.

My opinion? They clearly sent her out to “change the subject” and get some good press for the family. Everything else in the royal world is a trainwreck, and there are significant questions about whether the monarchy will survive Prince Andrew’s growing scandal. My guess is also that this was something Kate had to add to her schedule last-minute. Please, she didn’t bother going to the Women’s Rugby World Cup last autumn and that was held in London! And England’s team, the Red Roses, WON THE WORLD CUP. And Kate was still to lazy to go to the final or support the women in person in any way. Then she waited months to host a reception for the Red Roses. What I’m saying is that they made her drag her ass out of bed, slap on some lipstick and her keenest rugby wig to create at least one positive royal headline in a sea of apocalyptic bullsh-t. Will it work? Eh.

Going out to a rugby game and grinning like a lunatic in a bad wig is just not gonna cut it anymore. The public wants answers and all of the past headline of them using Andrew as a slight to H&M are not doing them any favours.

  2. The distraction campaign is not going to work especially if they think that dragging her laziness out is what’s going to help. It’s too late and people are more interested in the pedo!!

  3. Shiela Kerr says:

It will take more than a wig and a mannequin to change this conversation.

  4. Becks1 says:

The thing with Kate’s schedule (or lack thereof) is that its hard to tell whether she was ordered to attend this as a distraction tactic or whether this was always on her calendar as a “maybe she will, maybe she won’t, it will be a surprise” kind of event. Or maybe it WAS both – she had this on her calendar but wasn’t super interested in going and then BP was like, yeah she needs to get out there. This was a safe event for her in that there weren’t reporters around, no chance of uncomfortable questions, etc.

The only nice thing I’ll say is that it was good that she wore the england rugby scarf.

Did she get her wonky eyebrow fixed?

    Have we seen William yet?

  5. Goldenmom says:

Now KP is just trolling the world with her wigs. That thing is massive.

    • Hypocrisy says:

      lol, it sure is 😳

    • Becks1 says:

It’s massive but I also think it looks better than it has in a while – maybe its a bit shorter? Either way I think its a new fresh wig, and I do think that’s entirely a wig. Something about the hairline gives it away for me.

      • Goldenmom says:

I see the same thing in the hairline. The sheer volume of the wig hair is bananas. Her neck must hurt.

      • Dee(2) says:

It’s because it’s completely uniform and no one’s hairline is like that naturally. It’s why there’s a million videos about how to pluck the lace from your lace front on Tik Tok, Instagram and YouTube.

That’s always my criticism about her wig wearing, not that she wears them. Is that she’s too wealthy to constantly have these doll hair poorly constructed wigs on. Especially since she wants to promote the narrative that it’s her real hair. Why don’t you just hire someone who knows what they’re doing?

      • GoldenMom says:

Just saw pics from BAFTAs, this rugby wig was the opening gambit. She has an entire being bolted onto her head for the BAFTAs. That wig is HILARIOUSLY MASSIVE. Even Dolly Parton made that work successfully. KKKate is clearly off her rocker.

      • Becks1 says:

I dont want to threadjack because I know we’re going to have a BAFTA post tomorrow but…..that’s one of her worst BAFTA looks ever. It screams “I’m here so I don’t get fined” basically. She did not want to go and was ordered to turn up.

      • Jais says:

The funniest part to me is how many rota photographers there are. Or maybe it’s just KP photographers there to document. They needed their own on top of the entertainment ones.

      • Nic919 says:

Yes I hate posting from the future but that BAFTA wig is almost as bad as the blonde mop

    • Chrissy says:

Especially as we saw her real hair with that baby braid yesterday. They’re fooling no one with this farce. The rare sight of lipstick is a distraction though.

  6. Tuesday says:

What’s of interest to me is how old she looks, or rather, how old they’re letting her look. She’s not getting the same photoshop treatment she was getting even a year ago, so we’re finally seeing her true face. I genuinely wonder why. Has the press turned on her?

    • Mtl.ex.pat says:

I was thinking that’s a lot of obvious heavy make up for a sporting event….

    • Lucy says:

I’m assuming it’s because there’s sports photographers getting shots, not Chris Jackson. He’s usually the only photographer at her events, and he photoshops her. These are outside people that the palace doesn’t pay the people releasing the end product.

    • Interested Gawker says:

I think they merge her face with other women sometimes in these photoshop jobs; enough the still ‘look like Kate’ but muddled with someone else’s features. Her face here doesn’t match her BAFTA appearance a day later, nor the ‘heart shaped face’ of the ‘where’s Kate’ sightings or that garden party photo where she seemed frail and had a disconcerting ’Audrey Hepburn’ look to her smile.

      They play too much…

But now they seem less inclined to glam her up.

Is ‘they’ the BRF or is this a media thing?

      Interesting.

    • Nic919 says:

She swipes her blush on like a crayon which is stuck in the 80s so this ages her on top of everything else. The heavy makeup during the day also does not help.

  7. Jais says:

My prediction is that her and William are also going to the BAFTAs. But it will be a “surprise.” She looks fine minus the long ringlets. Abolish the ringlets for real. And the monarchy.

  8. Amy Bee says:

No doubt she was told that she had to go to this match. And I won’t be surprised if we see William at the BAFTA’s tonight. The Royal Family’s strategy is to be seen “working”. We are going to see a drastic increase in the William and Kate’s schedule in the coming weeks.

    • Jais says:

Just William? I’m thinking both so the public can get a dress distraction from
      Kate.

      • Amy Bee says:

Kate takes every opportunity she can to skip these events that’s why I didn’t include her. I’m thinking she was given a choice between Rugby or the BAFTA’s to attend and she chose Rugby. She’s patron after all.

      • Lady Digby says:

Both are expected to attend and the host Alan Cummings and attendees have been told to avoid any jokes about Andrew whom the PoWs barely know and have never shared a car with at any time!

      • Jais says:

And she’s there! Dress distraction for the win, lol. And well, the hair is hairing at the BAFTAS.

    • VegasSchmegas says:

They both went to the BAFTAs. In the photo I saw, she was doing her happy person pantomime, and he was working up to incandescence. They were wearing color coordination outfits.

      • Calliope says:

That’s interesting. I thought a match out of the country was going to be the excuse not to attend. Definitely on distraction maneuvers then.

  9. Lauren says:

I read somewhere else that questions about Andrew were shouted at Kate

  10. kynesgrove says:

My God. She looks even tinier. With all those layers on she still looks that small.

  11. sunnisideup says:

I actually saw her on television this week, usually I only get to see the published photos, she looked so thin and gaunt, there has to be something wrong with her mentally.

    • Becks1 says:

Jaded ( a poster on here who lives on Vancouver Island) said that she saw her years ago when she and William went to the western part of Canada, and she was shockingly thin in person even then. And then another poster, TheHench, who knows people in her circle, said that 2 years ago (so in the midst of photogate etc) that she was even thinner and it was obvious that something was not right. I can’t even imagine what she looks like in real life at this point.

      • windyriver says:

Slightly OT but since you mentioned Jaded, who I remember well – last I recall CB hearing from her was a comment on the Thanksgiving post that she was just home from a long stay in the hospital dealing with a very serious illness. Hope things have turned around for her…

      • Becks1 says:

@windyriver I thought that as I was typing – I haven’t seen her on here for a long time. I hope she’s okay.

      • SunnyDays says:

I don’t comment on here too often but I’ve also noticed Jaded hasn’t been on in awhile and have been hoping she’s well ❤️

      • Christine says:

I’ve been missing her too. I really hope for the best.

  12. maisie says:

her face looks less….gaunt than she has lately, and not just where fillers would go. maybe she’s started eating again? steroids? something looks different. she’s wearing a lot of layers so you can’t tell from the rest of her outline.

  13. Laura says:

Doesn’t anyone care about Carole Middleton? I wonder how she feels these days. Working her whole life to marry her daughter to the heir to the throne, and now living nightmare days facing a shaky throne?😂

    • Smart&Messy says:

I’ve been wondering about Carole too. I would think they are in a good spot now. Peg and KC need Kate right now. There is no way they would dare drop divorce news right now.

    • Me at home says:

I’ve wondered if Carole is one of the sources for the “Charles should abdicate in favor of Willy and Kate” pieces. Besides Willy/Jason briefing that, of course.

  14. The Duchess says:

The reaction from people online has been less than pleasant. I don’t think KP’s new crisis manager knows what’s in store for her. The people are over the PR appearances to help distract them from how rotten the Windsor’s truly are. The propaganda just isn’t working anymore. The fact KP thinks a few hyena grins at an all expenses paid for rugby match will solve everything, then they are in so much danger.

Also, as many have stated above, I have noticed how the press just flat out refuse to photoshop Kate’s photos anymore. How the mighty have fallen, lol.

    • BeanieBean says:

Re: the ‘hyena grins’. Seriously, what is so dang funny all the time? What could possibly be so uproariously funny at a rugby match?!

      • SunnyDays says:

I honestly and truly think she does it because her jowls aren’t as noticeable when she does. I’m close to her age and am seeing some cheek sagging when my face is neutral, but if I grin maniacally? Problem solved! Would I look insane if I did that all the time? Sure. Does she look insane? Also, sure.

  15. aquarius64 says:

Charles must have ordered Kate to get out and work to distract from the Andrew/Epstein mess. No one is talking about how this is impacting the kids. George and Charlotte are old enough to read the papers and online media. I wouldn’t be surprised if their schoolmates are throwing this in their faces.

  16. Tessa says:

If scooter wants out he will get out and perhaps get married.again. Keen is never really secure.

  17. Lady Digby says:

Both are under orders to get visible as they are even attending the Baftas this evening! Yesterday The Times printed a selection of letters responding to implications of arrest for the RF. First from former private secretary to PoW (Chuck) reminds us “not to lose sight of the immense benefits WE derived from the monarchy. Not only the King and Q, but ALL the working members of the RF, exemplify by their public work week in week out those principles of genuine service and duty to the nation which in an ever more uncertain world are a precious example to us all.”
And there you have the nub of the real crisis for the monarchy; both PoWs are not any kind of example for hard work and dedication to service. Rather they are like Andrew ( minus the depravity) arrogant, entitled, selfish doing the minimum of actual work but living a very luxurious lifestyle and accepting a lot of freebies along the way. Amanda Platell gave Wilbur both barrels yesterday for regularly being outperformed by his elderly dad who is also on long-term chemo. No one can claim based upon their paltry year end engagements that Will or Kate work week in week out

    • Lady Digby says:

Royal Engagements a comparison between father and son : in 1991, when Charles was 43, the same age William is now, he did 460 engagements.

Princess Diana: 397 (while *gasp* parenting young children!)

      Fergie: 213

      Princess Margaret: 103

The lowest was the Queen Mother, who at 91, did 102 engagements.

For comparison, In 2023, when Kate was healthy, she did 132 engagements and William did 185.

tldr; William and Kate are working less than half as much as Charles and Diana were as the Prince and Princess of Wales. Facts are your friends when faced with nauseating RF propaganda that Will and Kate are in any way outstanding as PoWs.

      • Becks1 says:

Those numbers are really damning. The 91 year old queen mother outworked Kate for 2025 (a year in which she declared she was in remission and cancer free, so no cancer excuse.) And I’m sure the QM wasn’t counting things like “phone calls with private secretary.”

      • Nic919 says:

Thanks for getting those numbers. It only shows how little Kate and William do. And they will only do more if forced to.

      • Unblinkered says:

Thanks for these figures, @LadyDigby, truly shocking. It’s to be hoped the media pick up on this thread and print the incontrovertible truth about W&K’s laziness.
Said laziness now has to end. Has to.

      • IQuiteContrary says:

Her Trekkie square-shoulder blazer is terrible.

She desperately needs a stylist (and a nutritionist and probably a psychologist …all of the -ists).

      • Tuesday says:

And it’s worth pointing out that the Queen Mother was also a cancer survivor.

      • Christine says:

Thanks for working the numbers. I know it’s all right there in black and white, but looking at it is enraging. I appreciate a summary!

  18. Who Were These People? says:

Whether she is okay with it or not, she’s looking middle aged, and it would be so much better (and easier) to accept and go with being in a fine period of life.

  19. Jayna says:

She looks good here. She’s had a little bit of filler done, and it makes her look healthier. You can’t see how painfully thin she is, sitting with layers on. So her face looking healthier is giving the illusion that she’s put on weight and is healthier looking, but, in reality, she hasn’t put on weight. Her hair isn’t bad here.

  20. Lady Digby says:

Andrew who? Kate is laughing away like a maniac as usual in public like she doesn’t have a care in the world. The upside of being self obsessed is never worrying about anyone else. Unlike Fergie she is happily married and going to be Queen and never has to worry about bills !

  21. Siri says:

She has on an awful lot of makeup for a Rugby game. This was obviously a photo op.

  22. Me at home says:

KP released an actual, no kidding, video of Kate at the rugby yesterday. Even the Fail is calling it “slick.”

This for the woman who couldn’t be bothered to attend the title match last fall in London, a short ride away.

  23. Lady Digby says:

They’ll be describing her again as RF’s saviour as she’s trotted out two days in a row to distract from Andrew gate. We all know Wilbur hates attending the Baftas and yet they’ve made him go this year to burnish his commitment to service credentials 😂

  24. NikkiK says:

She looks awful. All that money and she looks so trashy. Bad hair (wig), bad make-up, etc. I can’t believe that she’s younger than me.

  25. BeanieBean says:

She went to this because it’s the men playing. So glad to know that attending sports events is ‘work’ for her. 🙄

  26. Phaedra Q. says:

I can just imagine the conversations the BRF are having now. They are making sure Kate and Willy are working because they are trying so hard to deflect the public’s attention away from the Andrew scandal! It’s hilarious that they are pushing them out in front to try and lesson the bad publicity. They may work more this year than they have in their entire marriage.

    • Lady D says:

Kate will not be able to hide her anger if they are. Working really chaps her cheeks so to speak. I can just imagine Willies temper tantrums at being forced to work too.

  27. Lau says:

For context, England went into the competition screaming everywhere that they would absolutely be winning it without trouble. They destroyed a Welsh team that is currently holding together by a threat and then immediately got humbled by Scotland and then Ireland the next week.
The camera kept going to Kate any time the English team was getting humiliated AGAIN by Ireland it was brilliant. Princess Anne goes to every Scotland game (away or at home) and she gets cheers every time they show her on screen. She looks like she hates it though.
England play Italy next thinking that they will easily win so it might get even more hilarious.
