When I first saw Bad Bunny last night I didn’t recognize him until I heard the photographers shouting “Benito!” I was so floored and impressed by his old man schtick, designed with prosthetic makeup by Mike Marino. Benito was vague during his interview with La La Anthony, just saying that his look took 53 years. Please! I am 53 and he looks more like 73. Maybe he meant that he added 53 years to his current age, which makes more sense. I also assumed he was cosplaying a famous artist in that retro-looking suit, which he co-designed with Zara. This is just him as an old man though. One of the “body types” displayed in the Costume Art exhibit by Andrew Bolton is the “Aging body,” so Bad Bunny’s look is a play on that. I love it. He’s also so grumpy looking and is fully committed to this bit.
Heidi Klum just said f-k it and came as a whole ass statue. This was also designed by artist Mike Marino. It’s a bit much and I would have liked to have seen her in less of a Halloween costume but I appreciate how much she loves dressing up. This is fun and looks realistic.
Everyone was talking about Naomi Osaka’s dramatic look as she was one of the first celebrities to leave her hotel. She was in this voluminious Robert Wun coat dress with red feathers and cut out pieces that looked like wounds! She removed it to reveal a blood-like gown. Her hat is by Awon Golding. This is so cool-looking but I would have liked it if her gown was simpler. It doesn’t need to have those outlines when it’s just one part of an ensemble.

Lisa was in this standout Robert Wun gown that featured 3D prints of her arms held in a dancer’s stance over her head. This was a standout on the red carpet and I love how it plays on the theme. Plus they put jewelry on the arms! Chef’s kiss.
Broadway producer Jordan Roth wore a gray velvet Rober Wun with a mannequin-like figure attached behind him. This is wild and over-the-top and it fits the theme.

Heidi Klum’s face looks a little creepy to me but the actual design of the dress is impeccable. It really does look like carved marble.
I loved Bad Bunny’s look too.
When I saw Heidi, I thought Weeping Angels from Doctor Who. She’s so thirsty.
Robert Wun with Lisa and Naomi were some of my favorites of the night.
Heidi looks like one of those people that stand like a statue on the street until you give them money. This is just not well executed.
Benito’s old boy…yea I would
So when Benito is in his 70’s he is going to look like Will Ferral?! Anyone else see this?
Heidi loves a costume, and for a costume I think it is excellently executed. But this isn’t fashion. I think it could have been fashion, but it’s just a well-done costume.
I loved, loved, loved Naomi’s look.
I absolutely loved all of the designs that include included extra hands and arms. They always make me a little bit dizzy, and I have to look twice, maybe three times to comprehend. Naomi Osaka’s hat and coat are breathtaking
I loved them too, but the grey was slightly better to me because the arms were all covered. I wish Lisa’s actual arms and hands were also covered in white to add to the illusion.
I sighed when I saw Heidi. I’m a bit over her Halloween stuff anyway and the MET Gala isnt Halloween so I really don’t like this look.
Bad Bunny’s look was genius. I wonder if it was supposed to be an FU to ICE, who were probably stalking his Superbowl show waiting to arrest everyone. He sure escaped them by dressing like an old, white man at the Met Gala. If this was a political comment, I love it.
Wow, Heidi! I admire her commitment to a theme. And I’m guessing she has different physical discomfort tolerance levels than me.
From the thumbnail I legit thought Bad Bunny was Ron Perlman and wondered why on Earth he was at the Met 😀
