Rihanna wore a spectacular Maison Margiela to the 2026 Met Gala

Rihanna’s insistence on being the last one of the Met Gala carpet should be studied. Even Beyonce arrived well before Rihanna! Rihanna’s partner, ASAP Rocky, wore Chanel. Rihanna wore a spectacular Maison Margiela gown by Glenn Martens. This really is a piece of art, the construction, the beading, the design. It’s spectacular. Rocky’s Chanel look seems rather phoned-in compared to Rihanna.

Gwendoline Christie in Giles Deacon, a completely custom look. I love this and I love how extra she is.

WNBA star Angel Reese delivered, right? She wore Altuzarra. My one quibble is that I wish her makeup was different, but I get what she was going for.

Grace Gummer in Gabriela Hearst. I like this? It’s not one of the best looks or anything, but it’s fine.

Rihanna always brings it for the Met gala. That dress really IS art and she looks fabulous. ASAP Rocky looks good too, just not on the same level (but who is?)

Gwendolyn Christie looked great. I loved how dramatic her look was.

    Rhianna, Gwendolyn and Angel, yes!

  3. Looty says:

    Rocky looks great, Gwendoline also

  4. Mumster says:

Okay, Rihanna is definitely pregnant. That is a lot of work to hide the midsection (including from the sides). The dress is beautiful, as is she.

I saw Gwendoline’s last night. I adored it last night and even more today. Finally, some people who look like they are at the Met Gala, not a red carpet. And Rihanna always knocks it out of the park when it comes to dressing in a way that honors the artistry the Met Gala stands for. She always embraces it. I felt that, since they were a couple, Rocky’s look complemented Rihanna’s and didn’t clash with her gown.

I was so taken with Angel Reese’s look from head to toe, and how she posed in it for the cameras. She was a vision. The color was breathtaking on her. I loved it so much that I went to see what the vision was in terms of the theme for the Met Gala. Once I read that, I fell more in love with her whole look. I did love her makeup. It’s so funny that a professional WNBA basketball player can come to the Met Gala and knock it out of the park and embrace the theme compared to all of these “stars” that come on as if they are just showing up for an award show red carpet. Bravo, Angel! I knew you loved fashion, but this shows it.

“WNBA All-Star Angel Reese wore a custom Altuzarra gown crafted from lightweight taffeta woven in Italy, with carefully selected yarn colors that create a subtle iridescence. The dress draws inspiration from the work of 18th-century painter Thomas Gainsborough, reinterpreting the codes of a classic trench coat into an opulent, off-the-shoulder gown. It reflects the voluminous, feminine silhouettes seen in Gainsborough’s paintings while being designed to appear as though it is coming “undone,” artfully revealing the body beneath.

“Angel Reese’s look explores a different artistic relationship to the body: inspired by Jean-Honoré Fragonard and the romance of déshabillé, where clothing feels undone and alive. Together, the three Altuzarra looks for the 2026 Met Gala form a dialogue between presence and trace, structure and release—where fashion becomes a living form of art.”

Hm. So, is Angel’s look Gainsborough or Fragonard? She looks lovely, but I think had the color of her gown been what Gwendoline’s was it would have been a stunner. This pale pink–irridescent or not–does nothing for her.

Rihanna looks fab as always. Her hubby looks better now that I see pics with his coat open. In the initial arrival photos, he has it tied closed, and it looks like he’s wearing granny‘s bathrobe!!

  7. Deborah says:

I loved Rhianna’s look. She set the bar for entrances in that 10,000 foot long yellow train years ago, and has not looked back (though a lot of other women have tried to repeat it).

    Rare missed by Rihanna.

I haven’t seen all the photos yet, but from the few posts I’ve read so far, all I can think about is how uncomfortable these women must have been all night long. Or did they stay in these costumes? Did they change into something more comfortable for the sit-down dinner? (I’m assuming there’s a sit-down dinner.) Do they change at the venue? Because I truly do not see how any of these women can sit in a car to get there, let alone sit once they get inside. Elizabeth Debicki wore the best shoes for a long evening (golden flat sandals).
