Cardi B, Serena Williams & Doechii all wore Marc Jacobs to the 2026 Met Gala

Did Cardi B arrive at the Met Gala really late? I didn’t see her at all before I went to bed, and post-Met Gala, she’s really being overlooked. Cardi ALWAYS brings the fashion drama. Cardi loves fashion, she loves the Met Gala, and she loves researching the theme. Cardi wore Marc Jacobs, a piece which is supposed to have exaggerated proportions and padding. The reference is The Doll by Hans Bellmer. She truly always delivers.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams tends to struggle with Met Gala themes. She also wore Marc Jacobs and the art reference here is just generally “statues.” She’s worn variations of this style a million times.

Doechii also wore Marc Jacobs. She was barefoot! I mean… she looks fine. It’s a costume gala after all.

Oh. I thought Cardi B. was referencing Lauren Sanchez’s bolt-ons with the big poofs above her chest.

  2. Chaine says:

Huge miss for Serena, this look is terrible. Doechii, not sure what she was going for. Cardi, I appreciate the creativity and that it’s unique, but it looks like she has massive tumors on her shoulders, or maybe is carrying around some really big potatoes.

Agree about Serena. And love the whole content of your message re Cardi. Thanks for making me smile. Right now I really need some fun! I’m finding it here today.

    • Miranda says:

You’re being nicer about Cardi’s dress than my husband was. He said the bottom looked like lacey dog poop.

      • sparrow says:

Ha ha! Your husband seems far more into these things than Mr Sparrow. He rolls his eyes at my investment in the MET gala and anything like it. And the mere mention of Kate Middleton makes his blood boil. “Why bother with that boring woman” etc etc.

      • GAFFNEY says:

        @miranda- I can’t unsee it now 🫣

      • M says:

I thought of the large intestine, so close enough!

      • Miranda says:

@sparrow – I think I kinda brainwashed him! It helps that his 13-year-old daughter also happens to be obsessed with fashion (she wants to be a costume designer someday), so he can’t really escape it. I’ve also managed to get him interested in opera, and he now enjoys ballet enough that it was HIS idea to make extra special date nights of the spring galas for both the NYC Ballet and American Ballet Theater this month. Very well-trained indeed, lol.

I think they are supposed to evoke tumors. I think hers is definitely the most defiantly avant garde of the night, emphasizing and centering the body by creating the illusion of physical distortion. I kind of respect the daring and moxie of it.

Cardi B was one of the last to arrive, right before Rihanna

  4. Mumster says:

Cardi looks ridiculous. Sorry, not sorry.

  5. Jferber says:

I had a feeling people wouldn’t fancy these dresses. IMO, hurray for pushing the envelope and having fun (and looking great). I saw Cardi’s dress on TMZ and it looks better there. The silhouette is fantastic. You can tell she’s loving it and her joy is a welcome look in these harsh times. Serena was fine, but Doechii was amazing.

  6. jais says:

Love the color on Doechii. I guess the theme is sculptural or was there a reference?

    • Jferber says:

Shout-out to Connor Storrie for being bold, fearless and fantastic. I missed Billy Porter. He would have owned the whole damn gala!

  7. Kirsten says:

    These are all bad.

Shout-out to Connor Storrie for being bold, fearless and fantastic. I missed Billy Porter. He would have owned the whole damn gala! Also, Rhianna looks pregnant again.

  9. Miranda says:

Doechii’s dress is TERRIFYING. How much fashion tape is she wearing? How much does she trust it? She admittedly looks beautiful, though.

  10. Elizabeth says:

Hardly any coverage of Madonna with entourage, wearing the famous “ship” hat that Treacy made for Isabella Blow.
Also — no mention of Chloe Malle? Vogue’s new editor in chief was there in something orange.
