Alex Cooper is the host of the wildly popular Call Her Daddy podcast and founder of the Unwell Network, which she runs with her husband, Matt Kaplan. She’s widely considered to be the most successful non-celebrity female podcaster. CHD started as an explicit show that focused on sex and dating, but over the years has morphed into a celebrity interview show that’s had a wide range of guests, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama.
Last month, Alex broke into mainstream gossip, thanks to the resurfacing of an old beef with influencer Alix Earle. If you’re interested, Dustin at Pajiba did a good recap of that. In the middle of the Alex/Alix drama, Bloomberg published a piece about Unwell that accused Kaplan, who runs the company’s day-to-day operations, of creating a toxic work environment. After those reports, there were rumors that Alex and Matt were having marital problems. Well, now there’s news to add to the equation: Alex is pregnant! On Sunday, Alex announced that she and Matt are expecting their first baby.
“Daddy Gang, there is something I’ve been waiting to share with you ….” Cooper, 31, wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 17.
Cooper went on to share a series of photos of her cradling her baby bump while looping at Kaplan, 42. She captioned the Instagram post, “Our family 🤍.”
The “Call Her Daddy” podcast host also shared a selfie of her sitting on Kaplan’s lap outside with mountains visible in the distance. His face was covered by her phone.
“Honestly happy I can finally stop trying to hide the bump lol,” Cooper wrote in a separate Instagram Story, alongside a photo of a bag of candy.
The news comes amid reports that the couple were experiencing tension in their marriage after the Unwell Network made headlines following allegations of Kaplan’s behavior. (Neither Cooper nor Kaplan has addressed the drama. Us Weekly reached out to representatives for Cooper, Kaplan and the Unwell Network at the time.)
However, sources close to the pair tell Us that the rumors are false. The insiders add that Cooper and Kaplan are so excited for this new chapter and have tried to hold out as long as they could before announcing.
Days prior to the announcement, Cooper and Kaplan attended the YouTube Brandcast event at Lincoln Center in New York City. During the Wednesday, May 13, event, YouTube revealed that they officially expanded their partnership with Cooper and her Unwell Network and announced four new shows.
Cooper and Kaplan tied the knot in April 2024 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The couple opted to keep their vows private from each other until their wedding.
Congratulations to Alex and Matt. Their announcement pictures are really cute. She’s got that glow! Her belly must have just “popped” because after hearing the news, I stared at pictures of them from last week’s event. I would not have even suspected a baby bump. I hope Alex is feeling well and having a smooth pregnancy, despite the drama surrounding her right now. (Even if she is the one who reignited the Alix feud.) For what it’s worth, I believe Bloomberg’s report about Matt’s behavior, and I hope Alex handles that business quickly.
Although Alex has never come out in support of any political party, she is a successful businesswoman who’s had prominent Democrats on her podcast, promotes sexual autonomy, and is in favor of reproductive rights. There is an online assumption that even if she is not a Democrat, she’s left-leaning. Naturally, news of her pregnancy made people on the right lose their minds. They accused her of promoting promiscuity and other “feminist” values while choosing to settle down with a husband and have kids. Once again, conservatives are missing the point. Alex chose when to get married and start a family. She didn’t do it because society expected it of her. Having that choice is the entire point of feminism.

Can we just admit that almost all (all) corporations have a toxic work environment. It’s about the money, the money, and the money. In order to pull that off, to get the 24/7 compliance required to fulfill your boss and investors dreams, you are psychologically driven into submission through shame, coercion, and the price of life in the US. Looking for another unicorn of a job is not really a thing for most people who are already gasping for air. If you are standing at the top of that mountain, you are standing on the blood sweat and tears of the people doing the work. I’ve worked in tech, non-profits, education, and the service industry, I’ve seen a broad swath of the labor force and I swear that people are seen as disposable and treated as such. It’s pretty dark.
