The more I know about Alexander Skarsgard, the less I like him. That wasn’t always the case – he used to seem so nice, so friendly, so generous to his fans. And then he got sucked into the abyss of Kate Bosworth, and now he’s fighting with paparazzi and posing for “candid” pool photos with Bosworth, and he’s pretty much dead to many of us. So I come to these VMAN photos with jaded eyes. Where I once would have seen a fabulous Swede looking delicious, I know see a dude who is trying too hard to be a pouty Vesty McSparklepants.
It is very Robert Pattinson, isn’t it? I think it’s the hair, mostly. Here’s a similar photo of Sparkles:
This is jacked Sparkle-hair, circa Spring/Summer 2009. Anyway, VMAN sent us all of these nice photos and wanted us to note that this, issue 18, is “The Scandinavian Issue.” Skarsgard was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, and styled by Michael Philouze. I have been a huge fan of Charlaine Harris’ books for years. I love Eric in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I was disappointed when I found out that ASkars was cast as Eric, and I was a bit disappointed with True Blood. I know I am in the minority here. I watched about 4 or 5 episodes before we got rid of our movie channels. Alex was/is not “my” Eric but I thought he did a good job. He’s a hot guy but his girlfriend has ruined him for me. The company that he keeps… Ick.
It’s sad but I really think Kate has ruined him. That sounds so odd but true in this case.
I like the Sookie Stackhouse series. Also enjoy the Maggie/Marcus/Tom triangle in the Madelyn Alt books, and in the Evanovich books, i am a total Morelli nut. Modern soft core mysteries are really coming into their own.
That being said, Askars is one beautiful man (without Kate hanging all over him, ugh!). Having said that, I also think his father is still hot at his advanced years. Weird?

Becks: i think you really have to separate the two to enjoy true blood. the books are always better but i like the show in its own way.
Working way too hard, hair is way too long for that 2005 played out “do”, and the worst offense of all? He makes Sparkles look like he can pull of the “brooding figure of great intellectual depth” posture.

god-i said it yesterday and I will say it again. this guy is not hot. he has dead eyes, vag chin, which is a weak chin, and he always looks completely confused about where he is. his body language is absurd. the pics of him with a cop at coachella, he looks like he had a lobotomy. it seriously looks like they pulled a guy out of a mental hospital and took some black and white photos of him. who told him looking like a half-thorazined mute is sexy? he totally looks like he is hearing voices.
I have never found him that hot but when he started hanging with Bosworth I just thought…yeah, so THAT is the kind of dude he is…the kind that likes to hang with people like her. He is a douche and she is a douche like someone above said…they are perfect for one another.
Do you think maybe it’s supposed to be a joke? Because if so, well played.
I’m going to go with that theory because the man is just killing me lately with the douchey moves. And normally, I love him. He just needs to get over the weirdness of the last six months so I can go back to loving him.
No one can look as good as Sparklepants unless you’re Johnny Depp so John Mayer, this dude, etc should just stop trying.

I’ve read the books too, and in some ways I like the books better, but in some ways the show is better (Lafayette!).

Askar looks great with long hair though– as I have seen a few photos. But truthfully his still photos can’t even compare — next to seeing him in live action. I got the Askar appeal after I saw him in TB and interviews. He is really tall and has a great body!
Kaiser: Kate has not ruined him for me–wait till you see how short-lived their relaysh is going to be!!

This is my least fav photo shoot so far. I don’t blame him for the hair–he doesn’t style himself for these photo shoots. I’m gonna say someone needs to slap the stylist and say, “No! Bad!”

It isn’t like he is dating Herpes Hilton. He met Kate on a fairly intense movie shoot–the totally unnecessary remake of the hideous Straw Dogs. His character, I think, is the one that rapes Bosworth’s character. The original is a nasty film. Why anyone felt the need to remake it, I don’t know. And the fact that some hack thought they could “re-do” Pekinpah…Hollywood never ceases to amaze. Anyhow, it isn’t up to Alex how he is styled. The mags’ stylists come up with these shoots for the most part, and Alex looks good.
How incredibly douchey is this shoot? I am really losing the love…fast. If he’d lose the Gayken hair, Down’s Syndrome pout, and about 85 lbs of skank, I might love him again.

You know…someone else on a different blog made this observation. It seems a bit of a stretch to me, but then I scarely pay any mind to Robert Pattinson. I don’t know if they were strategically trying to channel him, but don’t blame AS. Your regards should go to the stylist on the shoot.
Ironically, I kind of like the wacked out hair.
@Lucy2 – ITA with you about the books vs. the show. I love, love the books, but didn’t start reading them until after the first season of TB. I think Alan Ball is doing a Fantastic job bringing these books to life. I think he adds a MUCH needed edge to the show. Charlane Harris is an okay writer, but I think she ages herself a little in the books. Sookie is definitely not as “hip” as in the show. And, Tara and Lafayette OMG.. Much needed characters. I think Ball gave the adaptation a much needed make-over, as to what would *really* happen in todays society, like with the drug addicts and fangbangers. Love it.
And, lastly, I just have to say.. MY how you people are easliy suaded by the media. Two weeks ago you all would be swooning over ASkars. Now just because he is dating someone (mind you it’s Bosworth, I don’t know that much about her to form a judgement either way) you have all turned. Shit, it’s not like anyone here had a chance with him. I’m guessing no matter who he is dating you all will be jealous…

Icecat- can i just say that the reason that everyone has turned on him is because he’s acted like an arse over the last couple of weeks and shown that he was chatting a load of rubbish when he was telling people what type of person he was, not that most of them are jealous! I certainly am not i’m just really chuffed that now if he was to walk up to me in a bar and chat me up (like it would ever happen lol) i would be able to say no thank you i’m too good for you! i’m finally free from being a skarsgard fan it feels so good!!!!!!
He reminds me of Jim Carrey, and I thought this was a still for “Ace Ventura 3” with the hair.
I’m not dissing him, I’m a “True Blood” fan but for some reason he reminds me of Jim Carrey without the crazy facial expressions.
