I was fully prepared for Thomas Markle to rear his ugly head last month, when the Sussex family visited the UK. But my prediction was wrong – he didn’t say or do anything, despite having moved back to the US earlier this year. The last time we had a big “Toxic Tom Eruption” was last December, when Thomas had a leg or foot (no one was ever clear about that) amputated in the Philippines. He literally kept a Daily Mail reporter (Caroline Graham) by his side during the stunt, and Graham published a flurry of stories about the Duchess of Sussex refusing to personally fly to the Philippines to tend to her horrible father. Meghan ended up getting the American embassy involved, and her handwritten letter was personally delivered to her toxic father with a diplomatic receipt (in case he continued to lie about Meghan not contacting him). Well, Toxic Tom has some thoughts about the Sussex Return.
The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father says he feels ‘hurt and upset’ that she and Harry are returning to the UK without introducing him to his grandchildren – and fears he will now never meet them. Thomas Markle, 82, learnt that Meghan and her family were returning to Britain when he watched the news. The retired movie and television lighting director is recovering in a US rehabilitation centre after having his left leg amputated below the knee.
He has never met Harry or his grandchildren, Archie, seven, and five-year-old Lilibet.
Mr Markle told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I saw on CNN that they were returning to England. I found out about it at the same time as the rest of the world. I’m hurt and upset that she doesn’t give a damn about me, even though I’m in hospital.’ He added: ‘Meghan used to love me, she was always a daddy’s girl, and now it’s like I don’t exist. I have never met my grandchildren, and now they are leaving America. One day those kids will ask about their ‘other’ grandfather – the one who isn’t King – the one that Meghan and Harry are apparently ashamed of. I hope they know how much I wanted to meet them.’
Mr Markle underwent the amputation in December after developing a potentially fatal blood clot while living in the Philippines. He underwent surgery before returning to the US earlier this year. Mr Markle said: ‘While they were in the US, I always hoped they might come and see me. Now they are leaving, that hope has gone.’
His relationship with Meghan deteriorated after he posed for paparazzi photos in the run-up to her 2018 wedding. She has not spoken to him since then. But Mr Markle insisted: ‘I will never stop loving my daughter but I will never understand why she turned her back on me.’
Tom’s eldest daughter Samantha, Meghan’s half-sister, said: ‘I’m really proud of dad’s progress. Every day is a blessing.’
“While they were in the US, I always hoped they might come and see me. Now they are leaving, that hope has gone…” First he demanded that they visit him in Mexico, then he demanded that they visit him in the Philippines, and now he’s mad that they didn’t visit him in the US. When is the other shoe going to drop that he is never going to see Archie and Lili? And Meghan is never going to see him in person ever again? That letter she sent him after his operation was probably the last time Meghan will ever contact again. Still… it’s interesting that we’re getting another Toxic Tom Eruption right now, just days before the Sussex family returns to the UK. The British press really is running through their greatest hits. It won’t be long before they put Samantha on camera too.

If he wanted to meet his grandkids he had an odd way of showing it, constantly going on TV to rant about Harry and Meghan. His relationship with Meghan deteriorated when he started rushing to the media to complain about her. She kept trying to reach him after he did that first appearance. When he started the many rants on TV she realized it was a losing battle.
Oh, for Pete’s sake! Of all the demented reactions to two people living their own lives, and making decisions for their family, this guy is one of the last people who merits any opinion on their choices. However, since almost everyone seems to be piling on, I’m sure Tom could use a few shekels right about now…

As long as he’s in contact with Caroline Graham, the Fail, and the other tabloids, Meghan will have no direct contact with him. I thought at some point there might be some kind of overtures, but he’s but old snake who will sell her out again and she seems genuinely done with him. Is Meghan or Thomas the more stubborn one? I do wonder if she’d ever consider seeing him again , if just to see what he’d do or confirm decision, but not my dad and I’m not in her head.
Meghan already tried. If she went to see him, he would imo rush to the media as soon as possible or get on the phone. I don’t think she’s stubborn. She tried and unless he decides to stop running to the media there isn’t much of a chance.

This I don’t understand about him, She was such a daddy’s girl and not once did he ever express concern for her or come to her defense. It would have made a huge difference in her tenure as a “working Royal “. He cut her off and then sold her childhood memories when he thought it was more lucrative for himself to sell her out and disparage her. Part of me wants her to confront him directly but he’d just make himself a victim over it.
The photos of Thomas always make it clear that ALL of Megan’s beauty came from Doria.

We are all but a bunch of gossipers, outside the circle of decision making but I wish I could say this to Harry and Meghan:
Thomas has continually trashed both his daughter and son-in-law for cash. He has sold his memories and momentos for his thirty pieces of silver.
My parents were/are great parents. The worst thing my mother ever did to my brother and I was have us in contact with her parents, my grandmother especially, because she was not silent about not liking my father because a) at the time he had a blue collar job, b) his parents were immigrants from Ireland without a lot of money but a lot of kids (she was an immigrant from Canada, but apparently that was the ‘right’ kind of immigrant, eye roll), c) everyone in my dad’s family is rambunctious and loud and d) my father was disabled from polio (but still managed to be a garbage man for years and be an involved, active father). My brother and I knew all this by the time we were five, and in the back of our minds, we knew our grandmother didn’t really like us, especially if we did anything like my father, laugh loud, get excited, etc. She hated half of us and that was enough for us to know that really, we were unwanted and nothing compared to her more perfect grandkids.
So I encourage Harry and Meghan to never let their kids come in contact with any of the Markles. They’ll read all about it in time.
She didn’t ignore him when he was in hospital. In fact she went to considerable lengths to get a private card/ letter delivered to him that could not be intercepted by others. She’ll have wished him well but no doubt restated why she no longer trusts him with a DM reporter at his bedside. He chose sell her out left, right and centre to all her biggest enemies: DM, Piers, Lady Colin Cobblers, Danny Rotten etc., He chose tabloid coin over his own child. Years ago on GB news Danny Rotten interview allowed viewers questions and one caller asked if giving up interviews meant he could see Meghan and the grandchildren, would he agree to keep silent? His response, No, I have every right to talk about MY family!! Fair enough, Meghan asked him to stop giving interviews and he refused in 2018 and here we are again, him giving a paid interview to slam his daughter and pretend he doesn’t know why other than a silly set of staged photos before the wedding. Wrong she forgave him for that and begged him to attend her wedding. He stopped responding to their frantic phone calls and instead gave paid updates to TMZ when her big public wedding was days away. He’s not lonely he has Caroline Graham on speed dial. He’s had EIGHT years to apologise by letter and prove his sincerity by never, ever talking to the press again. He has chosen badly because he exchanged the love and loyalty of his daughter for tabloid coin. His disloyalty and rank betrayal has resulted in him never meeting Harry or the kids. He can STILL make amends if he did the right thing and apologised to her and then said nothing publicly but this interview is further proof that he’s happy to blab bs for coin forever.

Thomas Sr has a total of 7 grandchildren. He never met the eldest 2 grandchildren. (They’re in their 30s now and probably have children of their own). The next eldest 3 grandchildren he hasn’t seen or spoken to in years. As for meeting husbands, Thomas Sr has never met Samantha’s 1st or 2nd husband, nor did he bother to attend either of her weddings. The people platforming Thomas are well aware of this but still choose to push this woe-is-me narrative. I look forward to the day when people finally treat Thomas Markle Sr like the tabloid puppet he happily chose to become.
This to me is one of the saddest things about the whole miserable media onslaught against Meghan, that her own father betrayed her in the week of her public wedding when the eyes of the world were on a Royal Wedding. Any normal proud dad would have loyally showed up and escorted his daughter down the aisle on her big day and been delirious with happiness. Her mother looked exquisite and behaved impeccably and shone with maternal pride. He instead skulked and gave paid interviews which has never stopped not even when she sent him a Five page letter detailing her pain and anguish about his collaboration with the media, telling lies about her and Harry. He wasn’t shamed into silence because he continued giving a media blitz lying a. No contact and b. Not knowing why they were estranged. Then in February 2019 People article with her friends makes reference to the letter and him refusing to respect her wish for him to not give further interviews. He continued to play the victim by handing over said private letter to MoS for them to publish excerpts from alongside commentary from him. Result lengthy lawsuit Which she wins but has a miscarriage due to stress. Even now TMarkle has no insight into his continued betrayal and twiddles his thumbs pathetically claiming it’s all down to those silly staged photos before the wedding. He should read both letters from Meghan carefully because anyone of average intelligence and loyalty would understand she didn’t want him trashing her in public to make coin. But dude is gaslighting her and everyone else who doesn’t know the facts that were established in the court case about how hard she and Harry have attempted to get him to attend their wedding only to be repeatedly let down and kicked in the teeth by his media campaign.
