Disney+ did the thing which a lot of British TV networks do, which is “throw together a royal documentary in a few weeks.” Disney+ put together Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince, a documentary about the Sussex family’s UK return, and they got various royal commentators to speak on camera about what it all means. As in, everyone’s still trying to answer the question of “why in the world did they go back?” Not to mention the other questions: will Prince Harry reconcile with his family, will the British media terrorize Meghan, will Prince William thrash around and rage-out? Well, apparently Omid Scobie chimed in about another pertinent question: will Princess Kate be the keenest peacemaker ever?
The King now has a ‘warmth’ towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – but estranged relations with William will never improve, a royal expert claimed today.
Omid Scobie, the journalist once dubbed the Sussexes’ ‘cheerleader’, said ‘things have moved forward’ with Harry’s father and the ‘iciness has thawed out’. But Mr Scobie, who became known for his close relationship with the Duke and Duchess, added that ‘I don’t see it will ever change’ with the Prince of Wales.
Speaking in a new Disney+ documentary about Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain, he also addressed whether Kate was a ‘peacekeeper’ who could help heal the rift.
In an exclusive clip from ‘Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince’, Mr Scobie said: ‘I think we’ve seen with Charles things have moved forward and that iciness has thawed out. There’s a warmth there. With William, I don’t see it will ever change. There’s always this talk of Kate potentially being the peacekeeper, the one that could bring the two brothers together. If I’ve learned anything over the years from covering them, it’s that Kate has very little to do with that relationship between the brothers.’
The programme – part of the ‘Impact x Nightline’ series – also heard from Erin Hill, senior editor at People magazine which has a close relationship with the Sussexes.
Ms Hill said: ‘Palace insiders have told People that William and Kate behind the scenes have decided to take a very old-school royal approach to this.’
She labelled this as ‘keep calm, carry on, do the job’, adding: ‘So right now, Harry and Meghan, they’re not a priority for them, and they’re very much looking to the future.’
“If I’ve learned anything over the years from covering them, it’s that Kate has very little to do with that relationship between the brothers….” LMAO. Basically, royal reporters (in the know) understand that Kate doesn’t get a say in anything involving William, Harry or anyone else. She’s not so much a keen peacemaker as she is a powerless sh-t stirrer on the periphery of the monarchy. And I really have come around to that belief that Kate’s energy isn’t calming or peacemaking. As for the larger story – yes, William and Kate don’t want to see the Sussexes, but W&K are absolutely consumed with the Sussexes and have been so for years. W&K are fixated on what Harry and Meghan do and say and wear. “They’ve very much looking to the future” – the future of copykeening the Sussexes.

CIOTOG they have been saying that about the Sussexes and Omid ever since his first book and Meghan’s lawsuit against the Fail for Copyright Infringement when they illegally published her private letter. They never mention that that book only happened because KP, with Knauf, gave the okay and made arrangements for them to write the book about the newest royal family member. Meghan, as a new employee of the royal family, gave limited information based on the belief that the royal family had good intentions with this book. She had never met him and knew nothing about him until the one time during their last royal engagement. Court papers showed she was reluctant giving him any information and the limited info she gave him was already known. That’s why there were so many false stories in his book. His book would have never happened had it not been for the palace’s okay. The same with the Oprah interview which was given the okay from the palaces years before the 2021 interview. The same with Angela “Troll Doll” Levin who wrote a whole biography about a disgruntled Harry who didn’t even want to give her 15 minutes but was forced to by the palace. The royal media always write about royals, especially the two they have the least access to with more assumptions and made up stories. Omid doesn’t even live in the UK anymore and has never had a relationship with the Sussexes, yet he is supposedly the voice for what their relationships are with Charles or anyone else in their family. It’s made up stories to write a documentary. There is no way to know what their relationships are with royals in the UK while still not knowing why they are back in the UK. They all lie, even Omid.
Kate the peacemaker is pure Middleton PR, always has been. Its to deflect from all the sh!t stirring she does but winding William up and watching him go. Keen was flirty with Harry –from what I see in the pictures.. I think she liked the idea of being accompanied by Two Princes on appearances, And things changed when Meghan joined the family–Keen could not be the center of attention anymore.
Let’s not forget that both William and Kate watched Suits religiously, and apparently William had a crush on Meghan. What a blow to his ego that Meghan is so clearly in love with his younger brother. Although Harry said this in his book, I have a hard time believing it happened in exactly that way. We had Suits on Dave in the UK, but it wasn’t very popular and was dropped in 2017. William and Kate would certainly have begun watching the series when they first were told of Harry’s new relationship, and would likely be very complimentary when it was originally brought up. I also tend to believe that William’s “type” is rigidly confined to a specific kind of aristocratic blonde, despite his claims of being very much not a racist. Suits became very widely watched here later because of Meghan and airing on Netflix. The royal family still seems to hold on to xenophobia a bit, and Meghan was a scapegoat for those beliefs.
This doesn’t even include the video relating to Headstart where they all had those bandanas on. At one point Kate has turned to Harry and is literally licking her lips while looking at him.

Maybe some grammarians can help me out here, but that first sentence of the news clip seems to be written implying that Charles is warming to H&M but Charles is estranged from William. I think it was intended to paraphrase what Scobie was directly quoted — it’s clear that Scobie meant Harry & Meghan’s relationship to Charles, and their relationship to William — but the writer (or AI) bungled it and made Charles the subject of the sentence.

I think Omid is right about Kate not being involved in Harry and William’s relationship. I’ve always believed the royal trio was fake. Harry basically said in his book that he had no real relationship with William and Kate. They saw each other at engagements that’s all and he basically stopped doing royal trio engagements when he got engaged to Meghan.
I thought it was so sad in “Spare” how Harry wrote about never even being invited over for dinner with the Waleses. I don’t understand why William didn’t want him to spend time with the kids when they were little.
Before my brother got married and had his own wonderful family, he’d come over to our house and play with our kids and we loved having him around. He was, and will always be, the fun uncle. But then again, maybe William knew Harry would be the fun uncle and couldn’t stand the thought.

I don’t have Disney+ but I highly doubt I would watch it even if I did.. these people truly don’t have the answers when it comes to the Sussex’s motives for the move and it probably isn’t just one reason for the decision but many reasons… I have never bought the propaganda that Waity is a peacemaker she is an adult school bully who targets the women who are unfortunate enough to cross into her path.. she always will be a petty and jealous soul. Omid is right about Kate having no say in Harry and Willy speaking or not speaking. However he is wrong about a warmth with Harry and Charles. I don’t know this to be true but I feel like if Charles had been spending time with Archie and lily or Harry we would have heard about it from the leaky pipes in Charles houses.
There is no warmth, just a cold hearted absent father and grandfather as Charles has always been. One meeting over the summer for about an hour does not a warm relationship make . If Charles really had warmth for them . Then Harry and his family would have security from ravec.
I truly believe Charles has no love for either of his sons. I think they remind him too much of Diana and the fact he was forced to marry. I’ve heard tales of Charles being closer to Camilla’s kids and I can see it.

I don’t think Charles was “forced” to marry. He had no trouble breaking up with one of the serious prospects for his wife, Davina Sheffield. He was 32 when he courted Diana and he could have broken up with her–especially since (as he told his biographer) he did not love her. Charles does not take responsibility for his own actions. The Queen would not “force” him, she tended to ostrich and avoid conflicts. Philip’s letter addressed Charles and said he should let Diana go if he can’t decide on marriage to her. Philip was not forcing him. I think Charles wanted heirs and did see it as “duty.” He may have thought that Diana would be so thrilled at being married to him she’d turn a blind eye to his being involved with other women. He only wanted two children. apparently. He did not want to try again for a daughter with Diana. Beckham tried for a daughter after having several sons with Victoria. And several women turned down Charles offer of marriage pre Diana.

I think when someone says something like “there is warmth between Harry and Charles” we need to take it with a huge grain of royal salt. There is “warmth” between then by ROYAL FAMILY standards. It could just mean that Charles is willing to talk on the phone with Harry for 15 minutes once a month.
It’s not warmth how we might interpret it for our own families.
I agree Charles isn’t warm towards H&M and shows no sign of real affection for them but I also don’t think he hates or is threatened by them. While their has still been hatred from some staffer’s Charles seems fine with current status quo and refocused from smearing H&M to viewing all interactions through a PR lense.
Occasionally I ponder the long arc of British simmering / bickering / politicking and it occurs to me that they have a tendency to category error: they politicise personal bonds and personalise political ones. They can’t keep their lanes separate, and they’re always swerving between categories: professional / personal / political / etc….. Harry and Meghan did something genius when they came back to the UK as “private citizens” lobbying for public causes, in the public domain, because the only platform from which they can preach is the one they built themselves with their own good will and hard work. Take that, Waity. Where would Kate be without the title and the flummery of fake status? ….still sleeping in her kiddie bedroom and tagging along with mummy? It’s hard to believe anyone would have wanted to marry such a clinger and she clearly was only angling for an Mrs, degree wife indeed.
Spencer points this out a few times in his book including a point about members fobbing of difficult personal conversations to their staff instead of communicating directly as family members.
Some BRF defenders will try to justify by suggesting this issue is inherent to monarchy but the other Euro monarchies have done a significantly better job at clearly delineating the 2 categories.
