People are saying Kristen Wiig looks unrecognizable at Paris Fashion Week

Kristen Wiig in 2020 and 2026
Kristen Wiig, 53, got a cosmetic surgery and/or injectable makeover around the time she was working on Palm Royale on Apple TV a couple of years ago. I’ve seen explainer videos from plastic surgeons claiming she had one of those lower face lifts that are transforming people into sexy uncanny valley clones. Whatever she had done, she’s looked different for a while. She looks good, she just looks like a lot of other celebrities.

Buzzfeed has a new article claiming that Kristen looks like a different person at Paris Fashion Week, where she attended the Chanel show. In photos she looks the same as she has for years to me, just with some fresh ‘tox and/or fillers.

Buzzfeed also points us to this TikTok Kristen made with Pedro Pascal, Dua Lipa and Nicole Kidman. In motion, you can see how different she looks. Of course her hair is darker than we’re used to but that’s definitely not it. People are saying she looks like Jennifer Aniston, but I’m not seeing it. She looks like Leslie Mann in the first headshot photo below, right?

This makes me wonder how your sense of self changes when you morph into a different person like this. I’m Kristen’s age and I want to get something done, but I don’t want a whole different face even if it is superfically more attractive. There’s something soulless about looking like everyone else. Maybe I’m just telling myself that because I can’t afford it. Your sense of self changes when you age too.

Sidenote: how hot does she look in that Chanel mini dress? She looks rich and unbothered.

I agree she pretty much looks like she did after her plastic surgery a few years ago. It’s just fresh botox. It’s sad to me how all of these beautiful women with interesting faces are all just morphing into a clone of each other. She looks non-descript now. Pretty – but in a generic way.

  2. Sue says:

She just looks like Kristen Wiig with some botox.

  3. ChillinginDC says:

The one picture did me think she was Leslie Mann. But yeah she’s had some fresh injectables. I don’t get it.

  4. Canadi-Anne says:

Did she get new teeth? To me her smile looks different.

    • Jen says:

That’s what I noticed. New veneers and lip filler.

    • lisa says:

yeah. I didnt recognize the top photo but the closed mouth side by sides are pretty similar. but the smiling photo looks like AI. it’s the bottom half throwing people off, not botox in the top.

  5. Lucy says:

She is completely unrecognizable in the top picture where she’s waving, but the other ones just look freshly botoxed. She is so funny and great at physical comedy, I can’t picture how she’d do her earlier work now with her face not moving. I’d love to do something that helps with bags under my eyes, or a very small lift, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

  6. Tuesday says:

I think she looks great and like herself. Just volume loss in her face from being skinnier than she used to be.

  7. NotSoSocialB says:

Too much midface filler-you can *really* see in in the arm raised/waving photo. Too much ‘tox in the forehead. And yes, a very tight lower face.

People need to lay off the exceessive mid-face filler. It just gives them thick meat-face. Gives me the heebie jeebies.

  8. 🐝 says:

Lips, maybe teeth. I had a consultation with a dermatologist this week who does both and fillers- she tool one look at me a and asked when I plan to have a face lift. Ouch. She was actually very nice, and I don’t plan on surgically remodeling my face for the sake of vanity, but I did get botox and booked a Sofwave session. Reentering the workforce at 60, otherwise I’d let her hang. Ageism is real. Potential employers look at me like I have a fast approaching expiry date.

    • Mario says:

Thank you for this candid insight and good luck finding work and/or thriving in your new situation. It’s tough out there right now, but I really wish you the best.

    • QuiteContrary says:

For this same reason, I was very reluctant to go gray … but I ended up doing it and, soon after, we had a stand-up meeting at work and a male colleague I don’t know very much almost stepped on my feet to stand in front of me. It’s as if I were invisible.

Workplace sexism and ageism are real.

    • Kasztanka says:

Botox and fillers are for facial contouring—a facelift is something else entirely.
Aside from being an invasive procedure, a facelift is the best method for restoring a youthful appearance. When performed correctly (without excessive stretching), it doesn’t alter facial features; instead, it removes excess sagging skin, restoring the natural contours of a younger face. Sometimes, eyelid correction or lip rejuvenation is also needed—focusing on firming rather than enlarging, and without changing the natural shape. Fillers inevitably alter natural facial features, but they are non-invasive and, when used skillfully, can certainly refresh the face. The choice depends on your health, facial structure, and personal decision. And, of course… the size of your wallet :)))

  9. Grant says:

People are so dramatic. I knew immediately who this was. She looks the same to me, just with some, ahem, touch-ups. I love a little Botox and filler so no judgment from me. Get it, girl!

    • Kasztanka says:

People are right. She looks almost the same as she did after previous work, yet completely unlike her like the original.
I’ve posted the links here (11) —take a look at the original. After the changes, she bears more resemblance to Victoria Beckham and Melania Trump than to herself.

  10. Amy Bee says:

    She looks totally different.

  11. Kasztanka says:

I can totally understand a minor tweak to a large or crooked nose, or correcting facial asymmetry; I also get the need for reasonable anti-aging procedures, but I find it hard to wrap my head around seeing a completely different, alien face in the mirror. It’s messed up.
An extreme but vivid example is Ozzy’s daughter.
…and those two photos of Wiig side-by-side—that’s a comparison of her face after the initial work versus her face after further work.
Everyone has gotten so used to the altered Wiig that no one remembers the original anymore.

Certain face types start looking like clones after undergoing procedures.
    Here, Wiig looks like Beckham:

…and the one in the article’s headline—I actually thought it was Melania Trump…

    • AsEyezzSee says:

@Kasztanka, thank you for the photo of Kristen Wiig original prior to getting some facial work. Her eyes look a bit more angled up at the ends that seems to be a look related to Melania and Beckham. She did not have noticeable cheek structure in original, now she has some padding and looks like her jaw line has more definition. I almost thought she looked more like a dark haired version of god forbid – Chelsea Handler. Whoever the doctor was, their work makes these woman look all quite similar.

If it makes her happy, it can’t be all that bad. To each their own.

  12. Lily says:

Plenty of botox in the forehead but I’m all for that! She looks fresh, I think whomever wrote this is probably jealous or trying to make trouble.

    • mblates says:

Ha! Not everyone loves the tucked and plucked and “refreshed” within an in inch of their lives look. Everyone looks the same: mediocre and basic real housewives.

  13. Nikki says:

It’s Kristen with a bit of Melania thrown in. CAREFUL Kristen!

  14. JFerber says:

    Lily, definitely!

  15. Mireille says:

At first glance, I thought she was Sophie Hunter, Benedict Cumberbatch’s wife.

  16. 🐝 says:

I’m sorry that happened to you. I proudly let my hair go grey, but now I’m putting in low lights and semi-permanent rinses for a subtle bit of color. I like it, but I look forward to the day elders are revered and respected rather than dismissed. That day will come again.

    • Kasztanka says:

I have an issue with gray hair on women. I can’t bring myself to admire the recently hyped look of Andie MacDowell; she looks terrible with that gray hair—and the hair itself looks ugly, like those wigs Kate Middleton wears. There might be something to that impression, as it looks artificial and really ages Andie, turning her into an old woman with a face botoxed to the point of looking like smooth oilcloth. It’s not just grotesque—clashing sharply with the “aging with dignity” mantra—but she simply looks bad with that gray hair.
On the other hand, there’s Jamie Lee Curtis with her short gray hair; she looks great—far better than she did with dyed hair.
It’s true that Lee looks ten years older than she is (with Andie; they are 67 years old) —her skin ages that way, and it appears untouched by cosmetic enhancements—but that has nothing to do with the gray hair. Unlike with Andie, the gray doesn’t age her; instead, it makes her look younger, brightens her face, and softens the appearance of wrinkles.
I also know a few women whose hair lost all its color—it’s white now, and they’ve left it that way.
Well, they look fantastic. One has a short cut like Lee’s, one wears her long hair in a ponytail, and one has a bob. Most people assume they dye it! 🙂 Unfortunately, uneven, steely-graying—often with patches of dark hair remaining—almost always makes women look older. That look only adds charm and sex appeal to men. 🙂

Mix of Kate Walsh and Allison Williams

  18. Dopple says:

Looks like the same face to me, just completely different hair. I look way different when I part my hair on the side instead of middle.

  19. StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

The celebrities dont do just one thing – they go with the whole pack.
It’s the lipo, the weight control/ozempic, buccal fat removal, the lip fillers, the botox, the new hair to confuse us or a hat down to below the brows (jlo), the botox, the brow lift, the eyelid lift, all of that. And then when you look at them, you only see a shadow of what they used to look like. Which is fine because that’s what they want. Regular people only get to do a few things off that list, if budget allows.

  20. ShoppeGirlMN says:

The lip filler is noticeable. And maybe her natural lips were a big part of what made her look unique. I also think that everyone (media) should stop talking about how women look. Maybe we’d (celebrities, public figures, politicians wive’s and the rest of us) be okay with our aging appearance.

  21. BrackenSweetwater says:

The dress looks like some fancy spa-thing used in place of wrapping a towel around yourself. Something about the crosshatched pattern of texture combined with the white stripe at the top? Yeah, I’m saying luxury spa towel wrap.

  22. nmb says:

I thought I was looking at Jennifer Garner.

  23. Kirsten says:

I don’t know… it’s not super dramatic but she just sort… subtly looks like a different person?

  24. Mrs.Krabapple says:

She looks like those fake MAGA women.

  25. Maria says:

Not the comments. She looks like a completely different person fr.

  26. Aimee says:

Very different. Maybe people mentioned Jennifer Aniston because of the lip filler.

  27. Lau says:

She’s starting to look a little bit like Carole from RHONY.

  28. Elle says:

I think the hair color makes a bigger difference than people realize. I’ve been bleaching my hair since I was in high school – so age 16 – 42. I finally went back to my natural color – a slightly prettier tone of my natural brunette – and everyone started asking me what skincare I was doing, etc. My mom said I looked at least 7 years younger. All because I was wasn’t blonde anymore. No shade on anyone that goes blonde or is blonde! But it made a noticeable difference on me.

  29. East Villager says:

Saw the video of her with Pedro and literally had to rewind because I thought she was Vera Farmiga.

  30. paintybox says:

She may not look the same as we remember but she certainly looks great – it’s her face, her life, her money – hey, whatever makes her happy.

  31. Grassroots says:

I think she looks great and I totally recognized her!

  32. Jenn says:

It looks to me like, not lip filler, but a lip lift. That’s where minor incisions are made under the nose, reducing the amount of philtrum, exposing more of the upper lip. You can see that the space from the nose to the lip is shorter than before. She might’ve also had some botox to relax the area there, but botox wouldn’t shorten the physical distance. For me it’s jarring to notice, but not everyone is staring at that particular triangle of skin, I guess. I do think the rest of her face looks great.
