Tom Ford is the latest celebrity to join the baby craze. He says he doesn’t want to end his life having created only fashion, and wants to produce something a little more closely related to him.
“I’m going to have a kid in 2008,” he told writer Stephen Todd. “Richard [Buckley, also Ford’s partner] knows I’ve wanted this for a long time. He’s just resisted it. He would be a spectacular father. It’s going to give his life new meaning.”
The candid interview also reveals that Ford plans to be the biological father: “I’m a lot younger. If things follow their natural order he’ll [Richard] probably leave the planet ahead of me and I can’t not have had something I’ve wanted forever. I’ve always wanted kids. I don’t want to get to 75 years old and just have made a lot of dresses, done some houses.”
Richard is Tom’s long term boyfriend, in case you didn’t realize. The couple have been together for over 20 years
So, it really does seem that the designer is following the new season trends – nothing screams fashion more than a diaper bag and a baby sling lately. Tom must already have a bun in the oven, because he said the baby is coming in 2008 and it’s already March. Then again, Tom is a man and they tend to be a little vague about pregnancies. Even when it is their own offspring.
Note by Celebitchy: It’s a good thing that Ford will be the biological father and not his older partner, but that guy was probably much more attractive when he was younger. Buckley will be 60 this year while Ford is 46. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures.

tom ford has always seemed yummy. (now if star jones or liza minnelli had married someone like him, instead of al and franken-monster, i could so totally understand!). and it’s wonderful that he has stayed with the same man for 20 years. especially since, as you point out, his partner isn’t a pretty little calendar boy. shows depth and maturity. or maybe i just think so because he’s so fine! those eyes!

Boy but that sounds egoistic. He does know that once the child is there, it’s going to be its own person, right? He sounds like he just wants a cute accessory..
