Princess Kate flag-dressed in green McQueen for the Sultan of Oman’s state visit

The Sultan of Oman’s state visit to the UK began today. Prince William was once again tasked as “chaffeur,” his big and important “job” these days. At first, I thought there might be something interesting with the fact that the Princess of Wales didn’t join her husband for the pick-up and formal greeting, but I bet that was probably the call from Oman’s embassy, not Kensington Palace.

So, William did the formal greeting and chauffeuring solo, then delivered Sultan Haitham bin Tarik al Said to Windsor Castle, where King Charles, Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales were waiting. Kate wore a “deep green coat” which reads as a dark grey in some photos, and the coat is from Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. Her hat is by Juliette Botterill. In case you’re wondering “why green,” it’s because Oman’s flag is green. Diplomatic flag dressing!! Kate also wore the Queen Alexandra Three Feathers brooch, which once belonged to Princess Diana and was given to Kate in 2022, when William became the Prince of Wales. The significance is that the brooch is the Prince of Wales’ “heraldic badge,” the three-feathered fleur-de-lis.

King Charles and Camilla both look tired as hell. Interesting. Of course, William and Kate look tired too – it’s as I keep saying, they’ve spent the past five or six years pushing back all of their events for afternoons or evenings. Camilla and William both need time to sleep it off, I guess.

PS… I can’t wait to see the latest wide-shot dais photo, where Charles and Camilla always force Will & Kate to stand off to the side.

Is that a new coat? i feel like we’ve seen that before, or at least something so similar to it that she didn’t need another coat like that. The bow on the back of the hat makes it look like a present.

And yes, they all look tired as hell. Kate and will have surely earned their upcoming vacation at this point, right??? poor lambs, having to work multiple times a week because of those mean Sussexes!

    • Chenni says:

I thought the same too. I swear I saw this same coat during her irish parade or whatever they do with very large dog. Plus she has very similar coats and wasting taxpayers money .

    • 2131Jan says:

Interesting that Kopy Kate is wearing a Chanel bag, considering the press made a big deal about Meg’s Chanel black bag, and that it was “vintage”, so she must’ve had it “before”. They were pissed they couldn’t attach a current price tag to it. (This was when she was in the black tuxedo blazer and black jeans, when she went out with her hairdresser in Notting Hill, for lunch).

      • KATH says:

And there we have it ladies and gents a vintage Chanel Bag, something mentally amiss there , apologies l just can’t get my head around this carry on with Megan …. William actually looks smart though ,.Charles looks tired..

      • BeanieBean says:

That poor, battered Chanel! What does she do with it, just sling it on the floor when she’s done? Looks like she’s altered the chain, too.

      • Bqm says:

She’s had this bag since at least 2025. It’s approximately £2900. She usually carries her burgundy Chanel with the gold handle though. She’s had that one since at least 2017. She also has a long term blue one but it isn’t seen much.

    • Chiron says:

From a glance, not a proper look, it’s similar to Christmas walk 2024 and then it was called a rewear? But who knows

      • Becks1 says:

I checked quickly and I think @Chenni is right, I think this is her coat from the 2025 Irish guards appearance. The one from christmas 2024 is almost identical but has more buttons. so it seems this is a repeat but she also has several very similar dark green coats.

      • Chiron says:

@chenni and @becks1 correct. Thats when it was. I just didn’t belit was true so started a late night hunt, when colours can’t be sure. I’m glad at least it was a rewear. At least it’s an excuse to call her ‘thrifty’

    • Zinnia says:

In the 70s, our family had a popular bow making gadget. It was advertised on TV making a now with 3 loops on each side and a circle in the center. Very similar to the ribbon on her hat.

      • BeanieBean says:

Kate’s reminds me of that Christmas ribbon candy that my mother always loved.

      • Lorelei says:

I first thought this in some pictures from last week, but Kate is really starting to look more and more like her mother. Which, yikes.

  2. StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

I want nothing but the wide shot pic with lazy will and lazy kate on the sideline of the gazebo.

    Hope it rains.

    • Becks1 says:

I think it is raining. I saw Hello Mag posted a video praising Kate for her curtsy (yes I know lol) and it looked like there was rain. but that could have been a trick of the camera/light.

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

LOL Charles and Camilla can’t get it together
It’s just going to be funnier when it’ll be a beautiful day and they’ll be out of the gazebo

  3. Jais says:

The coat seems nice, her usual, just in a different color. I kind of like the black lace turtleneck underneath. Risqué! The brooch is nice. I despise the earrings. Maybe I just personally don’t like her earring style and it’s a me thing. Bc that would not be the styling choice i’d make. Dangly earrings with that coat and lace and that hat? It’s a lot. I would’ve gone with smaller studs or something but that’s just me.

    • sunnyside up says:

I will go further, I don’t like the broach either, but then I have always thought that broaches are a bit silly. I do like the coat, always like simple elegance.

    • Dee says:

The brooch is on a weird spot. It’s not on her lapel but in the lapel notch. It doesn’t look like it’s sitting correctly with the emerald cabochon askew.

    • Blair Warner says:

I actually like the hat and coat – at least they are her style. Have to disagree about the black lace, though – it’s tragic and a mis-step for a royal. And the empty, squashed purse – why?

      • Lorelei says:

Isn’t black lace considered appropriate for evening wear, not really during the day? (I know, nobody actually has to follow those arbitrary rules, but if anyone does, it’s Kate!)

    • BeanieBean says:

That brooch is an historic piece & should have been the feature of her outfit, but she ruined it with those cheap earrings. Zero fashion sense, that girl.

      • Fortherecord says:

The brooch is lovely with the prince of wales feathers with an emerald drop. Diana wore it as a pendant. Before that it was a brooch. I liked the coat and thought the hat was good til I saw the bow.
I wonder if it’s an old hat with the bow added to jazz it up. Didn’t work

. It looked like a couple of heavy showers at Datchet and in the castle. It’s October that’s what you expect!

  4. ShazBot says:

I think Camilla has lost weight. Her face looks more gaunt. Whatever is going on there, they all looked stressed as hell.

I hate the tailoring of Kate’s coat – it’s tailored so tight she looks as stiff as a wooden nutcracker and the padding under the hips just stretches it further. I don’t know why they keep tailoring her coats so tightly.

    • Pouf says:

People age and need more naps. Plus, it’s harder to process alcohol. C&C just look old to me. Bill looks hungover.

    • M says:

She tailors them that way to give the appearance of a shapely figure because she’s built like a 2×4. Big shoulder pads and padded hips add to that.

    • Lady D says:

“they all look stressed as hell.
      1. They are about to be busted in the press for ??
      2. They saw their future after the Sussex’s walk about which has clearly thrown them for a loop.
      3. The govt. has given them their marching orders.
Maybe they are trying to quit drinking? It’s something they all indulge in heavily.

  5. Digital Unicorn says:

Kate is morphing into her mother – the resemblance in some of these shots is very strong.

As for them looking tired, that just seems to be their usual resting faces thou it does seem as if something is going on BtS.

  6. Sharon says:

Camilla looks very serious lately, as if something is weighing heavily on her. I wonder if there has been a change in Charles’ health?

  7. Cali says:

    Has Kate gotten cheek implants?
It sure looks like it in the photo where she is holding her stomach.

    • Sparkling Water says:

She looked like she got fillers a couple of weeks ago as well. Maybe it’s those.

    • Chrissy says:

I was thinking the same. I guess she’ll do anything to detract from her jowels.

      • Susan says:

ouch. I have the jowels. My only option to get rid of the jowels is fillers that will make my face puffy/ eyes squinty or plastic surgery which I cannot afford and I’d end up with Mar a Lago face.

I’m all for critiquing the fashion and makeup and hair and horrific behavior but….

      • Chrissy says:

No offence meant to anyone here, Susan. My default when talking with about this person is ‘catty’! She’s so self-obsessed and yet so lazy and useless, I can help being snarky. 🤷‍♂️

      • Graphinya Heather says:

I have the beginnings of jowls lol. I’m okay with that, I guess. Chrissy’s point wasn’t that Chrissy has a problem with jowls, but it’s increasingly apparent that Kate has a problem with jowls. From her rigor grins to fillers, she’s trying to reduce them I’m pretty sure

    • Susan says:

thank you guys! I’m super insecure about it. I had a cute little apple cheek face when I was young and now I look like a melting candle and …..ugh…I’m so insecure about it. I’m very touchy about it, thank you for your kindness.

      • Bqm says:

I’m with you my fellow jowly sister! I’m thinking about getting the little tapes for events and photos because I’m not injecting anything or undergoing surgery.

  8. Kirsten says:

I feel like getting to wear hats all of the time would be one of the only perks of being a royal. So it is a mystery to me why the hats they pick are all SO bad.

  9. Mightymolly says:

There are Muslim nations who’ve elected women to the highest office. But quick google tells me Oman is a tad behind the curve on women’s rights, so it’s the fact of a sultan who practices Sharia law that would be behind leaving the woman at home. Although Kate can probably be counted on to be properly demur. It’s Cam you gotta watch out for, downing some G & T’s and making racist jokes.

  10. Eurydice says:

I have to laugh at her little Chanel handbag which is flat as a pancake, like it came out of storage box. There’s clearly nothing in it, but I suppose carrying gives her something to do with her hands.

  11. M says:

The only people who put their hands over their stomach more than Buttons are pregnant. It’s just so odd. Does being around her husband make her that ill?

  12. Tessa says:

Keen grins away at the cameras. That hat with the ‘green ribbon’ does not look flattering at all. She has that smug look on her face. Will looks annoyed. He looks more relaxed in pictures without her there.

    • Graphinya Heather says:

Of course she looks smug. She’s a heartbeat away from being queen consort, and making everyone curtsy to her lol. Not to mention unfettered access to the royal jewels. That’s Kate’s (and her mother’s) REAL life’s work

  13. tamsin says:

I’ve always thought Kate looked best in her coat dresses and hat, but her she looks distinctly dowdy and old fashioned. I think she might look better with a fuller coat these days. She strikes me as being strait-jacketed here. She should also have stuffed her purse with tissues or something to make it look like it hasn’t been under something heavy in the cupboard until a few minutes ago. Kate frequently putting her hands to abdomen is very curious.

  14. QuiteContrary says:

The ribbon on Kate’s hat would be perfect on a large gift, but just looks odd on the hat.

She’s making some weird faces today. Weirder than usual. And Charles looks terrible.

  15. andrea says:

she has those sick eyes again….

    • BJ says:

      @Andrea

It might be medicated eyes. Looks like Ativan or Xanax. I know from experience. To me, it looks like she takes something before these type of events.

    • Susan says:

Kate smiles her rigid smile like everything is fine but I am of the firm belief there is more going on behind the scenes.

This may sound a little woo woo, but I am also of the belief (and have seen it firsthand) that one can make oneself TERRIBLY ill through excessive self discipline (don’t make me say it) and stress. I firmly believe my sister put herself in an early grave through “self discipline” and unmanaged stress/anxiety that ended up as a GI cancer.

  16. VilleRose says:

Did she recently get work done on her face or is this just super unflattering makeup? Her face looks puffier than usual? There’s something going on with her face. I usually can’t tell when famous people have had work done but she looks so different here.

Her coat looks so similar to things we’ve seen before, I could swear we’ve seen it at some point for St. Patrick’s Day. Camilla looks like she lost weight?

  17. Lady Fingers says:

The shoulder pads, the broad collar, the turtleneck, the hair, the earrings, the hat shape – lots of things happening in a short space that add no dimension or interest. She looks like a green rectangle.

  18. LittlePenguin says:

Why does she need a purse for the greeting/welcoming? Has she not had a ‘princess lesson’ on how to hold her hands nicely in front of her?

  19. Nic919 says:

These fascinator hats look silly. It is one thing to wear them for an occasion like a wedding but a state visit is a more serious occasion and someone with large green ribbons slapped on top of their head can’t be taken seriously.

    • Susan says:

I loathe fascinators. I miss the old days of Diana’s crazy colored hats. I don’t ever recall Diana wearing a fascinator. I wonder when they will go out of style? I feel like the first time I saw them was the young royals wearing crazy ones to W and K’s wedding. (Remember one of the York girls white one??)

      • Alice says:

Diana has worn fascinators. Everyone does at some point for events, a wedding or horse race, to mention a couple. And not only in UK.

  20. YankeeDoodles says:

Oman Is actually a really critical piece of the puzzle now, it’s where the UK was coordinating nuclear disarmament negotiations with Iran before the US and Israel decided to play Dr Strangelove and bombs away thus ruining a serious and disciplined initiative that had a slim chance of success but will now never be resurrected. It’s also across the Straits of Hormuz from Iran’s coast and is trying to assist tankers dodging the patrols / mines / drones / torpedoes launched from Iran’s side. So providing vital help to the countries still trying to obtain oil and to provide it, that means all the other states, that export oil & gas. So….. it’s become extremely important to cultivate the relationship with Oman. If you want to evaluate a historical case of postcolonial success / failure, like a control study, there is no better case in point than Oman / Yemen. Day and Night. It’s one of the countries in which British special forces actually did sort of save the day when they decided to take their own opinion and not simply follow the US lead. That was decades ago, but they’ve built on the legacy, like Jordan, it’s a relatively stable country and one I’ve been lucky to see. Fertile. Peaceful. So different from the sterile affluence of its region, or the equally sterile poverty amidst the affluence. It just feels sane. Does Kate understand any of this? No, not bloody likely. But she got to wear a pretty hat, so, yay. OMG. There *has* to be a better way of conducting diplomacy. I get the need to insulate the dignity of the state from parliamentary politics and vice versa but there *has* to be a better way to give a frontman to the UK.

    • Lorelei says:

I can guarantee you that Kate definitely doesn’t understand any of that (doubt she’s the least bit aware of it).

  21. kelleybelle says:

Chuck and Cam look like they just woke up from an afternoon nap. Kate is freshly botoxed around the mouth, hence the odd little smile in the second photo. The coat is a re-wear, yes, and that dark green colour doesn’t do a thing for her. That’s my snark for the day.

  22. Chaine says:

The clashing colors of Camilla‘s hat and coat are really bugging the heck out of me

  23. Gemini says:

This is pure Serena Joy Waterford (Handmaid’S Tale), commander’s wife cosplay in green from Keen. With current fashion being oversized coats, this body con cut looks so dated to me. Lol at the Chanel bag. I was expecting a copying of Meghan but not this soon.

  24. Kittenmom says:

Waity looks like the wife of the Jolly Green Giant.

  25. ShoppeGirlMN says:

Please, is there no makeup artist on Earth that wants to call this woman up and insist she modernize her look?!? I can see a hint of teal eyeliner or shadows on her lids and it’s so gross.

  26. bisynaptic says:

Everyone except Kate looks grim, in this photos. Can’t imagine the Sultan is going to have fun begging the UK for help with the war on Iran.
