Minnie Driver’s costar suggests she’s broken up with father of baby

Minnie Driver, who is reportedly almost five month’s pregnant, has refused to comment on the father of her baby, simply saying that she wanted to keep him out of the media glare. In an interview with Girl Magazine before she confirmed her pregnancy, she said she had a boyfriend at the time that was “not famous and is an Australian.”

Driver’s costar on FX series “The Riches,” Eddie Izzard, made a comment that suggests that the father of Minnie’s baby is already out of the picture. At least that’s what I read into it:

Minnie is keeping mum on the father of her baby, but her The Riches co-star Eddie Izzard says she’s ready: “She’ll be a good parent because you need love, and as long as you have one parent giving love then the kid’s going to do great,” Eddie tells In Touch.

[From In Touch, print edition, April 7, 2008]

Maybe they asked him “How do you think Minnie will cope with being a single parent?” but it sure sounds like he’s saying she’s single now. That could be why she declined to name the father.

Driver, 38, recently said that she’s doing well with her pregnancy and that she feels “really good, happy and healthy.” She said it was “great just to be able to eat” and that the only thing she craves is olives.

Minnie Drive is shown on 3/20/08 at a screen of “Trembled Blossoms,” thanks to Splash News.

she seems very sweet. i am a single mum too and its hard but with the money she has she can hire a nanny. sucks that the father is not in the picture though… i hope that eddie was just taken out of context and that is not the case.
on a snarkier note i dont like that dress on her because it makes her thighs look big. she needs to fire her stylist to hell and back. 5 more inches and that dress would be devine.

Why can’t she keep a man? She seems sweet and wonderful, but the whole Matt Damon brouhaha with her seemed to suggest she’s a weird diva, or some such. We never did get the whole story on that one, but for sure Matt Damon came away from that relationship disliking her intensely.

Sounds like someone who just wanted a “Stud Service” more than anything else. Kinda make me feel as if she just wanted to get “Bred” and then eject the Father as fast as she could so she can keep the baby all for herself.

    This is just wrong.

Toubrouk, that is a really gross and sexist suggestion. If she wanted that, she could have gone to a sperm bank. “get bred”? What like she’s a horse? The story happens, you date someone, have sex, get pregnant then realize the person is not who you thought they were…oopps, life goes on. That doesn’t mean she used him for his sperm. That is just wrong.

I can name 2 stars that got “Stud Serviced”
yea they are that shallow and their biological clocks are ticking loudly.

“It’s great just to be able to eat.” What an admission! In other words, all the rumours about celebs starving themselves to stay thin are true. It’s like Julianne Moore’s recent comment that all actresses are hungry all the time. So sad…

oooh, i’d never heard the snarky gossip about her and matt damon’s break-up. thanks for the heads-up on it. google-up!

  8. headache says:

ooo journey, it was just wrong. I imagine now that’s he’s all grown up, it might be one of his biggest regrets. Not leaving her of course. He looks divinely happy with Luciana but that he was so callous about her feelings.

Didn’t she also have a nasty break up from Josh Brolin who may or may not be a wife/gf beater?

  9. OKgirl says:

i think matt damn was deplorable to her. i think his horrible behavior was more a reflection on him than her. anyway, that was 1000 years ago. i think she’s lovely and just because a woman today can’t find a man that is capable of being a good father doesn’t mean she should give up on her dreamof being a mother.
