Lindsay Lohan takes powerful opiate Dilaudid; Dina: ‘this is so not fair to my child’

Actress Lindsay Lohan (L) reacts with her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley following the sentencing by Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel during a probation status hearing in Beverly Hills, California on July 6, 2010. Kaiser did a great job covering the Lindsay Lohan sentencing yesterday. It was somewhat expected but it was still shocking that she was sentenced to so much jail time. (I was selfishly getting a scheduled massage at the time and missed all the drama when it happened. I hurt my lower back, I have an excuse!) Lindsay had a lot of excuses in her statement as always as well as a lot of references to the “work” she does partying to promote her upcoming porn star role.

I actually felt sorry for sobbing Lindsay during both her statement and sentencing. I’m a softie like that, but that doesn’t mean I think she doesn’t deserve jail time plus rehab. Judge Revel did absolutely the right thing, and she summed up Lohan’s behavior so well. Lindsay was sorry that she was caught and would have to face the consequences, she wasn’t sorry for not complying with her alcohol education classes and she certainly wasn’t sorry for hijacking those three kids and taking them on a dangerous car chase while they pleaded for their lives. I keep thinking back to the interviews those three guys gave to TMZ about how Lindsay risked their lives and the lives of countless other drivers and pedestrians that night in summer of 2007. She ran over a guy’s foot, didn’t go back to check on him, and refused to stop the car to let anyone else out as they begged her to slow down. (Here’s our summary of their statements and you can watch the videos on TMZ.)

Lindsay should have received three months in jail just for that one carjacking incident, not to mention her other DUI accident in which passengers were involved and cocaine was found in her car. Someone could have been killed. Instead, she was given multiple chances to avoid jail time, which she inevitably blew. All she had to do was go to a class once a week and she couldn’t even manage that.

When Lohan was in court, you could see in her eyes how messed up she was. It’s also apparent in just about every photo, but when you see video it’s more obvious. She’s been passing her drug tests though and apart from setting her Scram bracelet off once she hasn’t been drinking. TMZ may have the answer to our question of what Lindsay is on exactly. They say she’s taking the opiate Dilaudid, which she has a prescription for after conveniently scheduling dental surgery right after she was ordered to undergo drug testing:

Lindsay Lohan has a current prescription for a drug she’s technically allowed to take despite her drug testing requirement — and it’s several times stronger than morphine … TMZ has learned.

According to sources familiar with Lindsay’s most recent probation report, LiLo has a prescription for Dilaudid — an extremely powerful painkiller … often compared to morphine … and even heroin.

As long as she has the prescription, Lohan is in the clear to pop the painkiller — presuming she follows the dosage guidelines. We’re told a doctor wrote the prescription after Lindsay’s recent dental surgery. We do not know the quantity the doctor prescribed.

But as we first reported, that’s not all she’s allowed to have in her medicine cabinet — Lindsay also has prescriptions for two other drugs — Ambien and Adderall.

[From TMZ]

Now we know exactly why Lindsay’s pupils are pinpricks and why she looks so out of it most of the time. She’s an addict and now she’ll hopefully get the help she so obviously needs. I wonder if Lindsay will think rehab is a vacation this time around. She’s been to rehab three other times.

A lot of us were wondering why Dina “my little baby is a victim” Lohan wasn’t in court supporting her daughter. Lindsay’s father, Michael, was there along with the sister she’s been corrupting, Ali, 15. (Ali was photographed going into the courtroom and I assume that it was Ali crying loudly in the background during the sentencing.) Dina hasn’t offered an excuse for her absence yet but of course she’s given an excuse for Lindsay. She told PopeaterThis is so not fair to do this to my child.” Yes, and it’s also not fair that Dina can’t get an ice cream cake for free using her daughter’s card. Life is hard when you can’t drive wasted whenever you want and get everything for free.

I also have to mention that Lindsay had “F*ck U” written on her middle finger yesterday the whole time she was in court. You have to wonder if the judge saw that and factored it into her decision.

Lindsay has two weeks before she’s scheduled to go to jail and there’s concern that she may harm herself in the interim. This girl’s survival instinct is strong but she does love her drugs. Will they let her continue to take Dilaudid in jail, will they help her taper off it, or will she face a quick and painful withdrawal? If she’s smart, and we know she isn’t, she’ll try to wean herself off before she gets there.

When I had oral surgery they only gave me tylenol 3…I’m obviously seeing the wrong dentist. 🙁 lol.

Her lips look horrible. Even though I doubt she’ll spend even a full 30 days in jail, I really hope she stays the whole 90. She doesn’t need to be out on the streets.

  2. mel says:

Her plea to Judge Revel was so fake. I dont feel sorry for her. You miss alcohol classes and you expect the Judge not to take notice, yeah right Lindsay. Her parents also need to spend time behind bars so they can think about how they raised this child to become the person that she is… pathetic.

  3. e says:

How long ago did she have dental surgery? Even with surgery most doctors only give you strong pain killers for a short period of time. Usually, you have to call the doctor to request a refill.

She is emotional and looks like crap because she is on pills. Pain killers cause a lot of irritability and anxiety. She is up with the Aderall and down with the pain killers and Ambien. I hope she has to come off this stuff in jail. If she does, she might come out looking a heck of a lot better…at least her lips will be back to normal.

  4. bizzy says:

Lindsay should have received three months in jail just for that one carjacking incident

am i wrong in thinking that she hasn’t actually been tried/sentenced for that yet? isn’t that what she’s on (violated) probation for?

i know this is so unrealistic, but i just feel like smacking her and telling her it’s time to wake up and smell the mess she’s in. she absolutely has all the raw materials and all the opportunities to have a great life. which, i guess, is true of many people who still manage to burn it all down around themselves.

oy. now i’m all philosophical and it’s only wednesday.

  5. irishserra says:

Yaaay! Now she and Paris will have something to bond over! 🙂

  6. logan says:

I say put the whole family in jail. If for nothing else–stupidy. Give them all cells side by side. Maybe they could finally work out all this disfunction. Not just one of them is at fault, but the whole entire crazy family. All because of the all mighty dollar. This father and mother would sell their daughters souls (and they probably already have) for 5 min. of fame. SHAME ON THEM!!!! Lock them all up. They all need rehab of some sort!

  7. embertine says:

Dilaudid is often compared to morphine because it IS morphine.

There is no way someone should be given a prescription for this stuff after dental surgery, unless they sawed her whole freaking head open.

  8. Lisa says:

Ohhh a few days ago she wasn’t scared to go to jail!!!!! Now all of a sudden she wants to start sobbing in court….apparently to try and find someone to feel sorry or some sort of pitty for her which no one does because she’s such a royal screw up it’s unreal. I blame her parents for not having control of the girl years ago when she was still in their care…

As far as Dina goes….what’s fair for other peoples children is fair for yours…if u had been a better parent probably never would have happened!!!! Grow up lohan family and open ur eyes to the real world where poor choices have consequences!!!!!

  9. NayNay says:

I’m sure she isn’t going to face the whole jail sentence, but I have to say that Jail might be the safest place for Lindsay. She keeps hurting herself, and before it goes any further, it is time that she gets the help she so desperately needs. That is, before she becomes another statistic.

  10. Bee says:

I used to feel sorry for Lindsay, but not anymore. She has had opportunity after opportunity to get it together and she has refused to do so. She is a danger to herself and society and she deserves to be locked up. Oh, and when she hijacked those three guys she told the police officers it wasn’t her who did it, it was “the black kid.” She is despicable. Adios psycho! Don’t let the prison doors hit your a** on the way in.

  11. bizzy says:

ps, celebitchy, i disagree with you about lindsay’s survival instinct. paris hilton. there’s someone with a strong survival instinct, ie, she knows when to swerve. when she ended up in this situation, she put on her serious little suit and her serious little expression and did what had to be done. imo lindsay’s just someone who, through blind luck, hasn’t driven clear off the edge of a cliff *yet*.

  12. Nicole says:

I was prescribed dilaudid last summer for pain as nothing else was working. I took it exactly as prescribed and I was high as a kite the whole time I was on it. Mind you, I had never taken narcotics before, but I was taking a very small dose and was so out of it. The pain was definitely gone too. I can’t imagine why that would be used for dental surgery, especially this long afterwards. My dr was very careful about the length of time I was on it as it is a narcotic that is very addictive.
It is referred to as drug store heroin.

  13. Lindsay says:

The dentist who gave her Dilaudid should be looked into. That is very powerful for a minor surgery (if their are no complications, which if there were she would have made a huge deal about.) Plus, it is irresponsible to give someone with known substance abuse problems to give her something that strong for that long and she should have begun to taper off by now. It has been almost a week right? Most people can manage with Advil at that point.

Past drug use may have effected her tolerance to pain meds but it still seems excessive. Unless she has truly been in chronic pain for years and has had her brain rewired to have a lower tolerance for pain which has been proven to happen. I don’t have an medical degree but have dealt with chronic pain and responsibly using pain meds on and off for a while.

  14. Dejasade says:

lol – Sarah – same here. I had a root canal and I got 5 extra strength tylenols.
She’s an addict. Maybe jail will wake her up..

  15. lucy2 says:

Didn’t she have her wisdom teeth out, weeks ago? When I had mine done, they gave me pain pills, which I only took once or twice, max. I think someone needs to investigate that doctor, and whoever prescribed her the other stuff.

I don’t feel sorry for her either – she did a lot of bad stuff, and was given plenty of chances to meet her requirements without jail time, and she blew it off.

  16. YT says:

Supposedly she will get less jail time with good behavior. Lindsay cannot pretend to be on good behavior for three days in a row, much less 30. Some think the jail time is a waste and that she should get rehab only. I’m hoping the jail time might sink some sense into her. Doubtful, though.

The jail time and rehab time should get her off of drugs and alcohol, but the rest is up to her. Since the world is all about her, I foresee a major, week-long party when she leaves rehab. Oh well, the judge is trying.

  17. Maritza says:

She deserves more than 90 days for being so disrespectful to the law. Who in their right mind goes to court with F**k U written in their middle finger? Did she think she was above the law? Let’s hope she can come out clean and makes a positive turn around in her life.

  18. Nanea says:

I’ve been on morphine for years because of a serious illness. Nonetheless people don’t see me freaking out, behaving erratically, drinking (a big no-no when on opiates). I do my job like everyone else does, and because of the pain meds I can function very nearly like a healthy individual, at least superficially. People don’t notice I’m “on” something.

It took docs some time to find out the optimal dose for me, but if one is in constant pain, the receptors “use” it up, there’s nothing there to make me seem addicted. Every laboratory can check serum levels in my blood for free morphine (meaning not used up, meaning dosage would be too high).

Sorry, not buying that story at all.

  19. mr. stinky fishface says:

I so want to know is written on the paper she is holding up!

  20. zen says:

The Dr. that prescribed Dilaudid for dental work should be investigated. I have had extensive dental work done in my lifetime and have never heard of being prescribed such a drug for any dental procedure. At the most maybe some Vicodent but even thats only for a few days after. How she is getting away with that is insane.
I also wish Dina would get the word “child” out of her head, this waste of space is 24..not a child.
This entire family makes me sick. Im glad she’s finally getting some sort of punishment but I still have my doubts about whether she’ll actually serve any of the time sentenced.

  21. lindsayinjail says:

She needs guidance in the strictest way. I think jail w/ rehab may help her.
I hope she straightens up before its really too late. She’s 23/24 there is still time to straighten up your life.

  22. a says:

the dentist should be prosecuted. i wonder how much $ s/he took for writing that bogus dilaudid prescription (with refills)?

  23. Ogechi says:

While I feel that both parents made HUGE mistakes. It would seem that Micheal (as much of a mess that he is) seems to be stepping up to the plate and being a truly concerned parent trying to make some changes. Where as Dina seems to be lost in her own little world of self indulgent selfishness. She does not seem to be ready to own that she apparently dropped the ball as a parent. I feel very sad for this whole family, there is a great deal of sickness to go around in the Lohan family. I hope they are able to turn it around.

  24. jen says:

Does anyone have a close up of all that red scribble she’s holding up to hide her face? That might be an interesting read!

  25. brad says:

Dilaudid or more commonly refered to as hydromorphone is not morphine it is a man made opiate pain killer about 100 times stronger than morphine. Now a average person who does not take opiate pain meds hydromorphone could be fatel if you just started using it from scratch now with that in mind the questian should be why did this dentist give her a script was it to help her cover up her prolonged use of this drug and prevent her from being sick with withdrawel. this is a deadly medicine most often prescribed for terminal cancer patients or patients with dibilitating diesease. the only medicine stronger than hydromorphone is Fentanyl. these drugs are labeled CII because they have the greatest potential for abuse. i beleive the DEA should comb threw every DR. in hollywood and start revoking DEA certifications. if a Dr. in north carolina were to prescribe CII narcotics the way those folks in California did no one here would still have their Medical license period.

  26. BReedy says:

Great writing! Sad story. Scummy parents. In the future, she faces more jail, phsychiatric institutions or DEATH if someone doesn’t take control of this obviously impaired girl. Very sad indeed. Oh, career over.

  27. Eileen Yover says:

I ended up with dry root after my surgery and all they did was shove numbing gauze in the hole to help deaden it! When they did that I almost passed out from the pain! And it only hurt for like 2 days-I don’t know the dentists she goes to but you know she probably had all her assistants call 5 times a day saying whatever they were giving her wasn’t working until they just threw that at her to make her go away.
If she’s still on that the office definitely needs to be looked into!

  28. Lindsay says:

Brad- As a fellow North Carolinian I totally agree.
The FDA advisory warned of a high overdose potential when taken with alcohol, which she has taken since.

However, Hydromorphone is becoming more popular in the treatment of chronic pain in many countries. Hydromorphone displays superior solubility and speed of onset, a less troublesome side effect profile, and lower dependence liability as compared to morphine and diamorphine (heroin). It is thought to be 8-10 times stronger than morphine, but with a lower risk of dependency. Hydromorphone is, therefore, preferred over morphine in many areas ranging from the emergency department to the operating suite to ongoing treatment of chronic pain syndromes. But agian I don’t believe she has severe chronic pain and in the ER or after surgery it is usually only given one time before and one time after and maybe a lower dose for one or two days.

  29. LindyLou says:

This is awesome! I love the pics showing the look of shock on her face as she was handed the sentence. I’m sure she was 100% confident that her lawyer would get her off….again. Karma is a bitch little crackhead!! 🙂

  30. Saor says:

@mr. stinky fishface- The Daily Mail has a close up of the paper. It has excuses as to why she missed the alcohol ed classes written on it. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/07/07/article-1292718-0A591232000005DC-629_634x599.jpg

  31. Anonandonandon says:

She’ll do 3 weeks and then be released claiming to be a stronger person. She will then give interviews and go on talk shows and make more than most of us make in several years for simply breaking the law and making a mockery of the court system. I not only have no sympathy for her, I actually hate the people who have been posting about how we should be ashamed of ourselves for taking delight in her sentence. People in this country are struggling to make ends meet and once again a celebrity will make millions for doing everything wrong. Poor Lindsay.

  32. audrey says:

i like the ‘engagement’ ring she’s sporting. crackhead will do ANYTHING for attention!

  33. Katie says:

I don’t believe this girl has learned anything. It’s really sad. But what disgusts me even more is the fact that she most likely will not spend 90 days in jail. I read this on fox news and it sounds about right….

“Following the hearing, the Los Angeles Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said an inmate in Lohan’s situation (a woman sent to jail for nonviolent crimes, not a celebrity) generally serves about 25 percent of their sentence, which in this case would be approximately 23 days.

“A person [of] such notoriety will be kept away from the general population,” Whitmore said outside of courthouse.

But Lindsay’s time behind bars could be significantly less than that.

“Luckily for Lindsay, she could get significant jail time shaved off the judge’s sentence. Depending on jail overcrowding conditions, which is a common occurrence in Los Angeles County, the Department of Corrections can shave anywhere from 75 percent, even up to 90 percent off her 90-day sentence for a non-violent misdemeanor,” Criminal Defense Attorney Stacy Schneider told Fox411. “With extra jail time credits also applied, I am betting she will serve about a week or less.”

  34. Maddie says:

Her mom should spend some time in Jail to for her failure to mother her children.

Sorry but what kind of mother blames everyone else, in her child’s life when that same child is running over peoples feet, carjacking people, drinking like a ban on booze is coming back into play, who was fired from movie roles, who was raked over the coals for her bad behavior on the movie set, I can go on, but Mommy Dearest needs to get a clue before she has to bury her daughter in an early grave.

Mom also needs to get a JOB and stop living off of her daughters fading fame.

  35. Liz says:

Wow… Dilaudid is seriously strong medication. If i’m not mistaken it’s also stronger the morphine. Hydromorphone I think the actual name. (or its oxymorphone, both are way to strong for dental surgery to say the very least)

That certainly explains alot. Like, alot alot.

  36. Zombie Nurse says:

Dilaudid is not morphine, nor is Fentanyl stronger than Dilaudid. Dilaudid is simply the MOST potent narcotic painkiler available. I am a trauma intensive care nurse and we use Dilaudid only as a painkiller of last resort. Our patients have undergone horrific trauma- legs ripped off in car accidents, gunshots to the head, falls with crushed pelvises and most of them do NOT need Dilaudid to control their pain. In fact, we often joke that patients who ask for Dilaudid (and ask for it by name) usually have underlying drug abuse issues.

  37. bubbs says:

why do they give out prescription drugs to celebs like they are candy????

why does no one investigate this?

  38. ! says:

    @Zombie Nurse

That makes me so mad. This whole thing does. I have a rare nervous system condition that is difficult to diagnose but is incredibly painful. I can’t tell you how hard they make it on me to get painkillers, at all. I’ve gone most of my life without them, despite the debilitating pain, because they’ve given me too hard of a time for too long. Meanwhile this bitch gets the stuff they reserve for people who have the most serious injuries you can have. Fuck her. Seriously, fuck her.

And didn’t someone soooo call it yesterday on Dina? Someone said she’d issue a statement containing the word “child” and sure nuff, “This is so not fair to my child.”

  39. Nessie says:

I think this is a horrible situation and I hope that nobody dies or falls even deeper after this is over.
Why sentence her FIRST to jail and then rehab? It should be the other way around, this will be hell for her and she is already such a mess. She is an adult in age, but she is very much a child in every other respect.

  40. freckles says:

This won’t change her. She’ll come out of jail/rehab just as sh*tty a person as ever. She won’t change until she’s a) much, much older, or b) dead.

  41. Jen says:

“an extremely powerful painkiller … often compared to morphine … and even heroin”

Yeah, no shit, TMZ. They’re all opiates. Amazing that a pretty little poppy plant could cause so much trouble.

  42. mln says:

I watched the TMZ videos now I have an even lower opinion of the girl. She deserves to go to jail but I wonder if it will help or if she will just sink even lower?

  43. L says:

Yea it’s hard to feel sorry for her when she’s been so defiant about getting help. And being let of easy on charges that would have most people in jail so fast.

Honestly, her being an addict is sad and I know this is fueled from that. But at the same time, illegal actions have repercussions, and its frustrating to watch her get special treatment. Hopefully this jail time/rehab works for her (I’m trying to channel RDJ here), but I’ll believe it when I see it.

  44. Persistent Cat says:

When my mother-in-law had terminal cancer, the morphine stopped working and she was given Dilaudid. No concern of addiction as she was close to death. That Lindsay would be prescribed that for oral surgery is shocking but there are a lot of shady doctors out there. Hopefully that doctor will be investigated.

@!, do you ever watch Intervention? The ones addicted to pills have six or seven doctors who don’t know what the other is doing. If there’s a silver lining to your situation, I guess you can be happy you have doctors who are concerned about you than the kind who take your temperature and prescribe Dilaudid or Oxycontin.

  45. Tia C says:

I’ve been skeptical of the stories about her prescription meds. How do we really KNOW she’s on Adderal, Ambien and Dilaudid? I mean, for a fact? Just because the gleaming beacon of integrity and truth – TMZ – says so? But then I realized, if Anna Nicole Smith could have literally cases of methadone at her disposal, I suppose Lindsay could’ve gotten some quack dentist to prescribe Dilaudid for her. Stranger things have certainly happened, and it would explain why she appears perpetually f*cked up.

I hope she has to serve the FULL 90 days. That’s not very long. It’s the least she deserves for some of the crap she’s pulled.

Also, anyone know who the poor chick is who Michael Lohan is talking to?

  46. Ashley says:

Dilaudid is morphine, not stronger, and its not even that strong, because I’m taking it for mmultiple back surgeries I’m undergoing. Of course I’ve built a tolerance but still, it is not comperable to heroin. Way to be dramatic about it. I can take it and function at work for eight, nine hours a day. Seriously I think lindsay deserves jail time like everyone else, but now you are just grasping for gossip.

  47. Doseofreality says:

Forced confinement and subsequent forced rehab will do nothing for LL. I think she is convinced that she does not have a problem, that she is just like everyone else and being unjustly punished, she will not take this opportunity to clean up her act, and in the end wastes your time and your tax payers money.

Take the celebrity out of this equation, and you have just another unrepentant, deluded, pitiful addict. Rarely does an addict clean up when forced into rehabilitation, and considering LL seems surrounded by people who enable her behavior, rather than condemn it, she hasn’t truly hit bottom. And even then, I doubt she has the wherewithal to recognize it even if she ever hits it.

Few examples of meaningful redemption and recovery in “show biz” exist, the most well-known in recent memory, and in the grand scheme of things one of the most unlikely, is Drew Barrymore’s. Lindsay and Drew’s life stories are so similar, it’s eerie. I wonder if Drew looks at LL and wishes she could console/counsel this young woman through this journey.

It will be most interesting to see what the next 6 months offer us regarding Lindsay. I wish with all my heart that I am proved wrong, but the odds are stacked way too high against her and I don’t think she is strong enough to overcome them.

  48. katyalia says:

For once I agree with Dina: It is not fair. The judge should not have allowed the 2 weeks but locked her up on the spot instead!

@Zombie Nurse: Isn’t it possible that Lindsay has numbed herself by her constant drug use to such an extend that the dentist had some justification to use this particular stuff? I could imagine that if nothing else works on her anymore, a simple root canal might call for the heavy meds.

  49. Eileen Yover says:

I just watched the videos and looked at the photos and I can’t get enough of her “wardrobe” choices for court! Not to be catty, but its common knowledge that when appearing in front of a judge you dress professional and conservative. Her answer to that are some sort of yoga pant, newly pricked lips and some weird rainbow nail polish? AND knowing Lil Linds….even if she didn’t have the money, she could have always stolen an outfit! She’s never been above stealing things she wants before!

  50. Sam says:

I’m pretty sure the Judge did not see the F–K You on her finger. If she had it probably would have gone much, much worse for the hapless LiLo.

She needs to get over herself and get with the program.

  51. Jackson says:

I would be stunned if she is permitted to take dilaudid while incarcerated. Then again, this will be a county facility, right? Too bad she’s not going Federal – the Feds don’t play. And no, I don’t feel a bit sorry for her. She should have already been in jail for the other crap she’s pulled. Big deal, she has to do three weeks in jail and not even in general population. Let’s hope she learns something in rehab because that stint in jail isn’t going to be nearly enough to give her a ‘scared straight’ epiphany.

  52. Mary Ann says:

Re: morphine versus dilaudid– last year my husband cracked a vertebra in his back. He’s got a very high pain threshold, but he spent eight hours in the ER getting IV morphine, which only took the pain down from the screaming/puking pain level to the teeth chattering/moaning pain level. When they wanted us to leave, he was given ONE shot of dilaudid and was able to walk out of the hospital and into the car, and then into our house where he spent the next few weeks in bed.

    Dilaudid is hardcore stuff.

  53. dread pirate cuervo says:

Nessie, I think they did jail then rehab b/c after a trip to the pokey, she might actually pay attention in rehab this time. Hopefully they take her right from county to a regular people rehab. No shopping, no “work” & if her disgusting mother wants to visit her, hopefully she’ll have to take the same addiction awareness classes before each visit like I did for my ex.

  54. denise says:

That first pic of Lohan looks so pitiful

  55. mimi says:

Please do not post such harsh words against Lindsay Lohan. I would bet she or others close to her read them.

I lost my beautiful, talented successful boyfriend to drugs. I never knew he had an addiction — he hid it well and I was blind in love. But 6 months before he died, he tried to reach out to me. I did not get the gravity of his situation and I ultimately left him. I do know he was terribly ashamed of his habit, and could not openly ask for help. So he died. Looking back, I can connect the dots. Too little too late. Yes, I was furious at his constantly breaking dates, standing me up..etc. How could someone so smart (honors all the way through law school) not keep a friggin date? My point is, drug addicts are not child molesters. Yet the vitriol and hatred towards them is the same. The difference is that most drug addicts die young. Show some compassion. If the world wasn’t so harsh towards them, they might be more willing to seek help and stay clean.

  56. Eileen Yover says:

Now it makes sense why the judge had her keep the SCRAM bracelet on. If she drinks any alcohol with all those drugs-it could very easily kill her.

  57. ElizabethM says:

While I’m glad she is FINALLY going to do some sort of punishment for her crimes, like most people, I doubt the jail time and rehab will do much good.

In my fantasy world Lindsay is sent to a remote location in a third world country for five years to work with a relief organization (but not one with meds that she would totally steal). She’s dropped off with $3.00 in her pocket and the clothes she’s wearing and nothing else. She has to actually *earn* money that she wants and even then it’s at the rate of 50 cents per day.

And she couldn’t return to the US until she had served her five years. Everytime she f*cked up, time would be deducted and would have to be earned back.

However, until Judge Revel asks for my opinion, that’s just my fantasy.

  58. Annie says:

“When I had oral surgery they only gave me tylenol 3…I’m obviously seeing the wrong dentist. lol.”

Thanks, I just blew watermelon out of my nose. 🙂

  59. irena NL says:

Two narcissistic parents raised a narcissist. And?

  60. Iggles says:

    Wow…
Seriously, that sentencing video has got to be the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time!

Her face! And her lawyer is like, STFU! She’s damn annoyed her client is losing composure like that. Oh well..

  61. Sluggo says:

Ashley, “grasping for gossip”? “Not comparable to heroin”? This is DILAUDID we’re talking here. I take morphine myself, daily, for a severe degenerative spinal disease, and I can tell you: Dilaudid is NOT morphine. NOT. It’s waaaay more powerful. And just try getting it handed to you for anything: even in the ER, I was in shock and excruciating pain, and they were debating about it. So to get it HANDED to you for dental problems? (PS: Three shots of D and I was pain-free for two days. Powerful stuff. It’s far more effective than morphine.)

And if Lohan did get that stuff at the dentist’s, and she is still taking it … WHY? Are they doing some ongoing day-by-day surgery on her head? (Though perhaps someone ought to …)

My heart goes out to those who are in horrific pain and only get, say, a Tylenol 3. That’s total bullshit. Regular non-Lohan people just have to suffer, I guess. I know I went through 15 years of hell before doctors finally figured out I needed higher pain maintenance. And some people never get anything at all. Lohan, on the other hand … Christ, it’s ridiculous.

Seriously, Dilaudid? With the other stuff she’s pounding down? No wonder she looks like something coming out of a tunnel.

There’s no comparison between Dilaudid and morphine. None at all. You can take that to the bank.

  62. Lisa says:

If you changed the name of her medication a bit, to Delaudid, it could be a shortened-up form of “DELusion AboUt what I DID”… seems perfectly appropriate.

  63. Persistent Cat says:

Yeah, the lawyer is funny. It’s almost like she’s saying, “shut up idiot, I need to hear this.”

  64. Anon says:

I believe I was given Dilaudid after I had broken my femur in a car accident, and gone through intensive surgery to fix the fracture. It is VERY strong. I could definitely feel the difference between it, and morphine (as I was on morphine for months after my accident, with the dosage slowly being cut down).
I seriously do not understand why they would give Dilaudid for dental surgery, as I had only been given it for the first couple of days after my surgery – and that was under nurse care in a hospital.

  65. CB Rawks says:

The fact that she had that F-You written on her nail makes me hate her even more, and I wish she had got a year in jail. The little bitch thoroughly deserves this, and I think it should have started today, not two weeks from now.

  66. Ruby Red Lips says:

@ Mimi, I am sorry for your sad experience,

However Lindsay is a danger to other people’s lives and is not just a drug addict. She is entitled and spoilt and believes herself superior & above the law

Whilst I feel bad for addicts that want help Lindsay doesn’t appear to. Her behviour is not just that of an addict but much more

It is very sad looking at how she was and what she has come to now, but unless she faces up to her issues and changes her lifestyle & attitude, I don’t see it ending well

  67. Jazz says:

Is that Lisa Bloom hanging out with Michael Lohan? If so, than she’s just as bad as her ambulance chasing mother.

  68. Jasmin says:

Radar is reporting that in addition to the Dilaudid and Ambien AND Adderall she’s on anti-depressants Zoloft and Trazodone.

She’s a walking pill machine. I dunno, I’ve taken Adderall during one frantic essay season in Uni and I’ll never do it again. I can’t imagine what its like to be on all of them at once. No wonder she’s f-ed in the head.

  69. flourpot says:

I was rooting for her in the other post but man, that FU on her finger is just… what’s the word for it. Classy? Elegant? Thoughtful? … I haven’t come across the right expression yet.

  70. oh hey says:

“Who in their right mind goes to court with F**k U written in their middle finger?”

That alone should’ve gotten her another 60 days.

  71. HatesStupidPeople says:

I KNOW this is WAY harsh – She will die. It will be soon. It is proobably what she wants deep down. Her parents messed this girl up. Is there some reason these parents have NEVER had a job between the two of them and continue to whore out every one of their children? Sad. I only hope that the younger two children learn from this whole thing. Lindsay will never learn. It is over.

  72. Shi-gatsu says:

I can’t believe how old she looks! I felt a little sad when I saw her break down – but it is all necessary though. She needs to own up to her actions and get help. I’m over her drama

    CB -get well soon.

  73. Danielle says:

I had oral surgery back when I was 21 where they effectively broke my jaw and used little elastics to hold it together. They prescribed me Dilaudid and let me tell you, I was higher than a fing kite for the 3 weeks they let me take it.
I don’t think I have an addictive personality at all, but I can totally see how people get addicted to the stuff. I could tell when it was wearing off and I kept watching the clock and counting down the minutes until I could take more. Had the strangest dreams on it too.
Hope this is Lindsay’s wake-up call and she gets her act together. I’m not a fan, but a young life is a terrible thing to waste.

  74. Gistine says:

    Smell ya later, Ashtray McLiarpants.

  75. Novaraen says:

When I had oral surgery they gave me vicodin…which I ended up allergic to so then they gave me darvocet. That was it…and only around a 2 week supply. I can’t imagine why a doctor would give her something stronger than morphine…that’s absurd!

  76. Crash2GO2 says:

Her eyes don’t look pinpoint at all in these photos.

I dunno – I think TMZ is hyping. JMO.

  77. Boombeeba says:

If miss linds is a hardcore druggie as everyone says then she’ll be smart enough to use these next 2 weeks to score as many pills(?), powder(?) as possible, wrap it up & keister stash that ish. She could cooter stash it even just pray to Jeezurz the bag doesn’t rip hehe

  78. Exiled says:

That tat on her pointy finger actually says ‘shhhhh’ she got it at the same time another actress got one, and for the life of me, I’m not sure which other actress

  79. gg says:

It’s OUTRAGEOUS that this stupid little girl is prescribed Dilaudid for anything. SHE IS A JUNKIE. I have had 3 spinal surgeries and was only given Dilaudid immediately post surgery for two of them, and only for about 12 hours, after which they put me on Lortab, which is a hell of a lot milder, and even that was only for about a week, under the most painful conditions.

Somebody needs to PROSECUTE THIS DENTIST and put LL into a serious junkie detox program.

Disgusting, all these people. She needs a drill sergeant with tough love.

  80. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

    @Zombie Nurse:

You said that as a trauma nurse, this Dilaudid stuff wasn’t even prescribed to many of the patients who suffered from the horrible accidents you described? I’m afraid to ask, but when would it be used, or what counts as a ‘last resort’?

    ***

I’ve never even heard of most of this stuff you guys are describing. Not going to go into it, but I’ve had major chronic pain in different areads of my body because of different accidents or strange causes. I don’t know where you all are living to get these prescriptions, but I’m going there because the last time I had oral surgery, all I got was stitches.

  81. Gail says:

@mimi Okay, probably going to get yelled at for this…

You had to put up with an addict boyfriend for a time, big fucking deal. My MOTHER was a drug addict. I spent most of my LIFE suffering broken promises, missing family time, having my mother come on to my boyfriend, living in squalor, fighting huge bruisers so I could have my house back, hiding keys, literally kicking-screaming-biting-punching fighting with my own mother, and this shit is not even close to the bad parts.

FUCK a worthless addict and FUCK being “nice” to them. If you are nice to them they keep using. Period. It takes pain and agony and a lot of it to make most of them stop.

There is hope. My mother’s been clean for about 16 years now, maybe more. But SHE had to do it and there was nothing friggin’ “NICE” about the process. Life had to get really nasty for her to stop, people had to get really mean for her to open her eyes. Being kind to an addict is the fastest way to kill them.

  82. Twez says:

I didn’t get Dilaudid after orthopedic surgery to put my wrist back together, for god’s sake! It’s the kind of painkiller given to people with end-stage cancer. The Dr. Feelgood she saw for that dental procedure should be up on charges as well.

  83. Katija says:

I’m reading the account of what happened to those poor guys in summer of 2007.

If I or any one of us had pulled the stunt Lindsay had pulled, we’d have gone away for two or three years.

I hope Lindsay has to stay in the chokey for the full 90 days. She’s seriously effed up.

  84. Katija says:

But I don’t get why the assistant’s mother – a full-grown woman – was running from lil’ anoretic cracky pants. My mom would have just pulled over and been like, “Wanna rumble??!”

  85. H says:

I am a Orthopedic RN. Dilaudid is not 100x stronger than Morphine it is 10x stronger. We use it in IV form for the 1st 24hrs after surgery. I do see it prescribed occasionally for patients for which oxycodone or hydrocodone do not work well.

@Ashely it is a different drug from Morphine. You can function on it because you have built up a tolerance to it and if you had another surgury you would likely be using opiod tolerant doses not regular doses to control your pain.

I have never heard of it prescipbed for dental pain and I do think it is shady if she is still on it. Dental pain usually is very short lived. I think it is good the Judge ordered a MD to look into all her scripts. All that crap she is on could kill her if she combinds it wrong.

  86. Naye in VA says:

If anything Lindsay is getting off easy for being such a reckless and careless driver, and then flouting her probation. I was four months pregnant with full-time employment and no type of drug or alchohol problems and i spent ten days in jail for doing 25 over the speed limit on the highway. And the judge really wanted me to do 150 days. im so sick of celebrities getting off easy. Its not like she isnt going to be in celeb jail anyway. The worst thing thats gonna happen to her is she’ll get ignored. Wont get her every demand. Thats whats gonna drive her crazy. Stupid girl. Its about time

  87. jurgie says:

How is she able to make those faces without one wrinkle in her forehead? Did she get some Botox to go with her new lips?

  88. Lenore says:

Okay, so I’ve never been in jail or rehab, but am I the only one who thinks those hysterics are an overreaction? Come on, “tough bitch”, woman-up why don’t you! – 90 days in prison does not warrant tears like those! It’s only three months!

And though it would be nice to think that this would be the break that gives Lindsay time and space to break her addictions and escape her circle of enablers, I doubt it will happen that way. I can’t see Lindsay ever realising that her problems are HER problems, or that she ever needs to change.

  89. bellaluna says:

I’ve written about my sister before, but here goes:

Several months ago, “Sis” was pulled over at around 2:00 a.m. for erratic driving. She had all three of my nephews in the car, had just smoked meth, and had another pipe roarin’ to go. “Sis” lost custody of her kids, went to jail, blew off her court hearings, ignored all our efforts to contact her, made a half-hearted suicide attempt, and ended up in a “residential treatment programme” for 9 MONTHS! “Sis” wasn’t permitted visitors, nor was she permitted to leave, until she reached 90 days “clean.”

My nephews now live with their father halfway across the country. My parents are (and have always been) EXCELLENT PARENTS! They are paying for her extended stay in rehab. It sucks. It’s selfish of “Sis” to think only of herself. And it hurts my parents deeply. She cut herself off from all of us, everyone who cared about her, to hide her addiction. Such is the way with addicts, I guess.

  90. original kate says:

@ mimi – i’m sorry about your friend, but when someone is high or drunk and gets behind the wheel (as lohan did) i lose all compassion for them. they choose to do that, just as they choose to do drugs and to drink themselves into a stupor. i agree they need help and support, but they have to want to change. and when they endanger other people’s lives they should go to jail; it’s that simple. if that is “harsh” then i guess i’m harsh.

  91. Victoria says:

    @Celebitchy

You know how you get that person to tell you if someone is lying? Maybe you could get a handwriting expert to tell you something about LIndsey’s block handwriting?

  92. Tia C says:

@ Victoria: That’s not her writing in that red ink on the legal pad. I’m guessing, based on the content, that perhaps an assistant to her lawyer wrote that up. It refers to Lindsay in the third person, which I highly doubt Lindsay would do.

  93. Jeri says:

She certainly deserves the sentence she received & I hope she doesn’t just serve “minutes.” I feel bad for anyone having to go to jail but if it had been any of us we would have done time in 2007.

She really needs to know she is responsible for her actions. She is not being “set up” as her says in her favorite excuse.

Bye Bye Lindsay, we’re going to miss you so… (sung to the tune of Bye Bye Birdie).

  94. Anti-icon says:

California courts are so messed up. Lindsey is so messed up; this is bound to be entertaining. She has gotten the celebrity justice treatment from the beginning. Any civilian would have been put in jail from the beginning, even with a good lawyer. I want LL to recover; but she needs some real tough love.

  95. mimi says:

Gail, you sound like an incredible person. I can. not. imagine. I also don’t have all the answers. I loved him. I sensed deep down he was heading in the wrong direction…I couldn’t take the pain anymore so I left and never said good-bye (things were so erratic i didn’t think it mattered). But I knew the man he was deep down without the drugs and that is the person I, and everyone who loved him, mourn.

  96. mimi says:

Original Kate, I am in total agreement. When addicts get behind the wheel..lock them up. My point, and I’m no expert, is that when an addict comes up for air, if they see nothing but hatred and anger, it could drive them right back to drugs. I’m not saying enable them, but let them know they’re loved and will be welcomed back – like the prodigal son. What else can we do?

  97. GatsbyGal says:

I can’t believe she would even DARE to have “fuck u” written on her middle finger nail in court, in front of the judge. She’s practically asking for jailtime, so why is she getting so upset? Maybe she should’ve behaved herself and played nice with the judge.

  98. Aussie Mama says:

Wow White Oprah, the obligatory comment after!
Where were you when she needed you?
Why weren’t you in court with her?
Lindsay is a product of selfish and bad parenting.
Mom if you give a damn, take her away to Bali or something and get away from the camersa for a year or so. If you actually give a shit!

  99. Ashryn97015 says:

Do I feel bad for her? You bet I do. Do I think she deserves jail time? You betcha. I understand & get why people are so mad at her. If it was your average joe, we would have been thrown in the pokie loooong ago. I have sympathy because my uncle is an ex heroin & meth addict & it took him to hit rock f-cking bottom before he realized that if he didn’t get help, he would be dead within the next year. The difference though was that he has people who actually CARED about him. Where in the hell was Lohan’s mother?! For someone who says they supposedly “care” about their daughter, she sure isn’t showing it. It’s a wonder why this girl is so screwed up. Her parents have been enablers her whole life. In no way shape and or form am I trying to make ANY excuses for her. Some people have come out of horrific situations just fine, other’s don’t have the same stability as that.

  100. Rizza says:

She’s in for a heckva jail stay, especially if she doesn’t get her Dilaudid. According to Wikipedia, she’s in for quite a withdrawal experience. Seems to everyone w/a brain she has no business being prescribed this drug, dental work just wouldn’t justify it. And if she had work that did require it, no friggin way would she be pulling the shenanigans she has been on a daily basis. I love that this post covered where the heck was poor mama Lohan while her poor, poor daughter was in court! That was my first thought when I read her dad was even there. Keep up the good work CB!

  101. serena says:

I don’t feel any pity for her since she deserved all of it (and much more).
What only because she was somewhat a celebrity she didn’t expect this? She’s not up the law, so what with the crying.. so fake really. I hope at least Ali learns something from this.

  102. Ogechi says:

@Mimi: That is a heartbreaking experience. I have not seen a drug addict before neither have I had any experience with one. I come from a family where you cannot even take cramp pills except recommended by a doctor and checked by my parents. I did not even know where they sold cigarettes until I graduated from college. However, apart from growing up in a small, peaceful and decent atmosphere, I also try my best to surround myself with decent pple and at the same time learning to respect pple who have made mistakes in their lives. Pple shld be respected and second chance given to all. Lindsay will survive this storm and become better.

  103. mojoman says:

@Aussie mama:NOOO!!! dont give them any ideas sending her to Bali, that’s my home and I dont want that lil crackhead ruining my island!!

  104. Gail says:

    @Mimi

Yeah. I am really really sorry that I sort of went around the bend on that one. Addicts are the ultimate sore subject with me. Get me on politics, religion, sex, anything else and I can be calm and rational. Addicts? Not so much. What I said is true though, you only kill them faster by being kind. Of course you love them and want to save them, but the truth is you simply can’t and that is agony. The only time you can be supportive is when they are in a program and actually doing the work. Any other time you are just helping them die. It’s kind of like watching someone you love thrashing in the water. You know they can’t swim, so you dive in to get them, only they refuse to stop jumping back in. You have to let them go unless they are truly on the brink of death, because one day you will not be there. It’s inevitable. You have to let them learn to swim so they won’t die, and people like that cannot be taught.

I know you loved him and I know that pain. What worries me, and I could be wrong, is that you sound like you feel you could have made a difference if you had stayed. That just is not true. It’s never about you or how much they love you. As bad as my mother was she loved me fiercely, desperately, with all her heart the whole time she was using. Love just can’t beat this thing. It has to be the addict who takes control. Nothing you do or don’t do makes any difference. The only thing you can do is what you did; get out of their way, live your life, hope and pray that they make it. I am so sorry that he didn’t.

  105. mimi says:

    Gail,

Wow, for some reason I decided to check this thread one more time. Yeah, you’re right..part of me wonders what would have happened if I had stayed and tried to help him. We had a sort of psychic bond – it was hard for other people to understand. But, most of the time I believe I was removed from the situation on purpose (I got a once in a lifetime job offer across the country)so I wouldn’t have to watch him die. To make things even more heartbreaking, he bought a beautiful house right before I moved away. His first house at 41 – left a voicemail telling me how much i would like it. But he was so high on the message – and we never reconnected, never called me again. On my very last day, heading to the airport, I passed him on the road. He didn’t see me because he was fidgeting wildly in his seat and had a very intense look about him. I got on the plane and he died 6 months later alone (he was “found”) in his beautiful house.
