John Stamos testifies that he was “heartbroken” after split with Rebecca Romijn

wenn91497

Yesterday was (I believe) the first day of the John Stamos trial, involving a young woman and her lawyer who were allegedly trying to extort Stamos. Allegedly, Stamos boned the girl when she was 17 years old, in a cocaine-and-stripper-filled night in Miami, shortly after he and Rebecca Romijn had just split up in 2004. Stamos and the underage girl became friendly, and apparently they emailed and stuff after their wild night (note: Stamos says they didn’t do anything but talk). Anyway, Stamos testified yesterday, and he got the chance to tell his side of the story:

John Stamos was “heartbroken” over his split with actress wife Rebecca Romijn when he first met the 17-year-old blonde now on trial for blackmailing him by claiming she had photos of him with strippers and cocaine.

The “ER” star testified yesterday in Michigan federal court that he met pretty Alison Coss in 2004 when he went to a club in Orlando, Fla., with friends. Coss and Scott Sippola, 31, are accused of conspiring to extort $680,000 from Stamos, saying they had compromising photos of him from that night.

Stamos said, “I was very heartbroken at the time,” adding Coss told him she was on “college” spring break. Stamos said Coss and a friend were among several people who later came to his hotel room, where they were “just hanging out” and “socializing.”

Defense lawyer Sarah Henderson had earlier said Coss met Stamos when she was a high school student and the two had a romantic fling, which Stamos denies. Henderson told the court on Monday that two strippers came to Stamos’ hotel room with cocaine, and Coss took a picture of him bending over a table spread with the drug. Stamos and Coss kissed on a bed and got into a hot tub, Henderson said, adding that Stamos offered to perform oral sex on Coss. She declined, but stayed the night.

Stamos explained he was later contacted by e-mail with threats to sell the pictures to a tabloid if he didn’t buy them for $680,000. He said he contacted the FBI because, “I felt threatened, violated.”

Coss and Sippola were arrested last year during a sting where an agent posing as Stamos’ rep agreed to leave a bag of cash.

Stamos’ lawyer, William Sobel — who insists Coss and Sippola don’t actually have photos of the star — said Henderson’s claims about what went on in the hotel room “are simply untrue.”

Well, I do think he was heartbroken after his marriage fell apart, but I also think Stamos is sketchy even if he was just “hanging out” with a 17 year old girl. Seriously? That’s his defense? “Sure, I was hanging out with the jailbait, and we were getting drunk, but I definitely didn’t offer to go down on her before we went into the Jacuzzi.” Why are so many stories revolving around the Jacuzzi today?

Gross. If I were famous, I would definitely ask for I.D. before getting it on with anyone.

  2. Me1st says:

this was just a get rich quick scheme and he called their bluff by calling the FBI instead…guess he will get the last laugh

  3. gloaming says:

I read an interview with him once where he said he was having sex with a woman at his house, he wasn’t enjoying it, so he excused himself and left the room, then sent his friend in to finish the job.

He laughed as he spoke about it and said it was dark and she didn’t know there was a different man with her, as his friend looked a lot like him.

Every single time i see his face I think of that.

    He’s filth!

  4. JaisyMaisy says:

Ha ha, I think Uncle Jessie got the FBI involved because he didn’t have $680,000.

    J/K, love you, Uncle J!

  5. Rachel C in NYC says:

Who gives a crap what the hell happened that night? It was what? Six years ago? We wouldn’t even be hearing about any of it if that dumb biatch and her cohort didn’t get busted trying to extort John Stamos in the first place. Remember, it always takes two. I’m sure no one was holding a gun to her head forcing her to hang out with John. She could’ve left.

  6. l says:

she was at a BAR with a 31 year old MAN. How in the hell is he supposed to know she is 17.

  7. Maritza says:

I bet that 17 yr old looked way much older, besides men don’t ask women for their age. He was totally set up, the girl just wants money.

  8. Katalina says:

“Stamos is sketchy even if he was just “hanging out” with a 17 year old girl. Seriously?”

In his defense, he didn’t know she was jailbait. She lied and said she was in college. And I seriously doubt that if she really was a 20ish year old girl that it would even blip on anyone’s radar. Why do you seem so eager to believe the lying extortionist’s story, Kaiser?

  9. Iggles says:

Least we know he’s straight. That’s the one upside to this whole mess.. *snark*

  10. hstl1 says:

This is so Kobe Bryant, isn’t it.

But Stamos is Hamm hot. He looks even better as he ages.

  11. Red says:

“….Well, I do think he was heartbroken after his marriage fell apart, but I also think Stamos is sketchy even if he was just “hanging out” with a 17 year old girl.”

Totally agree with other posts – she told him she was at college. She was in a bar – where you should be 21. She lied, given that she later tried to extort money from him, do you really think that the little tramp would be honest about her real age?
Why are you dissing on John? The dude went out after going through a public divorce, looking for some TLC and is now dealing with a skank. Show the guy some love!

  12. Jackson says:

@gloaming – Reeeallllly???? Ugh, that is so nasty. And this was an interview with him, and not someone talking about him? Wow. Just wow.

  13. aenflex says:

    she probably looked 25

  14. gloaming says:

    @Jackson.
Yup. I can’t find it online anywhere but I think I read it in Movieline years ago.
But once I read it, it stuck.
The incident happened before he was married, but it still makes my skin crawl.

  15. Sarah says:

I doubt he knew she was 17. They met at a club, during college spring break. Everyone is so quick to assume he knew she was jailbait. I seriously doubt that. If I was 17 and saw him, I’d lie and say I was in my 20’s. She wants cash. That’s all there is to it. If he was guilty of it, do you think he’d call the FBI and bring this much attention to the situation?

  16. bellaluna says:

I believe he was truly heartbroken when his marriage ended. Having been there, it’s not that hard to imagine.

The little trick was IN A BAR (which is illegal) so she was presumed older, I imagine. What a little skeeze.

  17. Rachel says:

If she is in a bar, where the drinking age is 21+, it is presumed that she is of age. I remember being in a bar underage (17) and meeting a very cute slightly older guy. I totally lied to him and told him I was in University. He wasn’t famous though, and I wasn’t trying to extort money.

  18. sassenach says:

I remember when John and Rebecca broke up and it was always stated that he did not want to break up and wanted to work on the marriage but that she felt like she had been with him for so long that she never got a chance to figure out who she was.
He and Rebecca used to party HARD so I am not surprised about this coming out.

  19. Maddie says:

This is not the first time that an underage “GIRL” was a bar, or hanging out with older people (21 and older) (where she wasn’t carded obviously) where she hooked up with a man (happened in NJ) in the NJ case the man was arrested and had to register as a sex offender.

I would like to know where this 17 year old parents where, and did this bar lose their liquor license.

Weren’t we all witness to Lindsay Lohan hanging out in bars when she wasn’t even 20 look where she ended up.

  20. Ali says:

Um am I the only one who finds it weird he offered to go “downtown” and she said no? That right there makes me believe the whole story is fake.

  21. Anti-icon says:

This is why is sucks to be famous. Extortionists are coming out of the freakin woodword. Such sucms. This is a FEDERAL CRIME. I hope these losers go to be big house. No one deserves to be extorted just because they like to party following a divorce. John Stamos has had to sweat this thing now for 6 years. That’s stressful and insane. Team John Stamos!!!!

  22. Mari says:

@ Red- exactly! Couldnt have said it better myself.

  23. EzE says:

I don’t understand you people, if Uncle Jesse banged an underage girl, he doesn’t get to claim he thought she was older. Plenty of guys have to register as sex offenders for that and good.

  24. Eden says:

@Ali..HA, I thought the same thing!
Although some guys will open with this as a way to get in the door, so to speak.
@gloaming…what a disturbing reaction of his during the interview to his own story. You would think that in retrospect he would have some remorse about the disrespect and immaturity of his younger behavior.
He still looks really good though, I’ll give him that much.

  25. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

Uncle Jesse is a multi millionaire. He is worth millions. He could easily have paid the $680k. He has made very shrewed investments over the years, as well as has remained steadily employed since his soap days.

  26. Obvious says:

@EzE she was in a bar (must be 21+) with a 31 yr old guy. And then they tried to extort money. It looks very much like a plot. She also lied, and the guy she was with didn’t correct that.

I could be wrong, but it looks mighty suspicious and that’s why we are giving him the benefit of the doubt.

  27. Kiska says:

    Oh Uncle Jesse! *eye roll*

  28. KO says:

I was reading another article that stated in his testimony he was not aware (at the time) of her being underage. Hrm

  29. Missfit says:

Awgh shit, who knows the real truth behind this story. Cause there is men who like those young girls…yet there also is little sleezy girls like that too who like older men and the guy gets in trouble. I thought when him and Rebecca used to be married, she wanted kids with him and more than just being married and he didn’t,so their differences is what set them apart. And I heard this one joke, where “She left him for the fat kid in Stand By Me”. lol However, she’s happy now, so that’s good.

  30. adgaf says:

Well from what I read, they met where you have to be 18 to get in, and if that’s true, which I believe is, he is the victim here. And isn’t calling him sketchy like the whole villifying the victim thing that was discussed in the Mel Gibon case

  31. Lem says:

he was in ER? there are many, many ways to classify Stamos. ER actor would not be the one I choose.

This story doesn’t bother me any, Freeman, Polanski, Allen. Those guys are clearly in the wrong. Stamos NOT having sex with a questionably underage girl. Meh.
She’s just looking to score, at this point, at 23 years old. Keep your yap shut

  32. Mia says:

He’s handsome, but knowing stippers and cocaine are how he shows he lost a real love lessens the sexy factor for me.

  33. j. ferber says:

Something about Stamos is weird, in my opinion. I suspect there’s a real story behind his divorce with his ex-wife, but it’s not the one they’re telling. He seems all kinds of shady to me, but it’s hard to put my finger on just what it is that’s wrong about him.

  34. CB Rawks says:

I used to like that sitcom he had, Jake in Progress. It had Christina Hendricks in it too. It was good.

  35. Anne de Vries says:

If she’d *looked* like she was 17, she probably would have been 13 or 14 in reality… a lot of 17 year old girls can easily look in their early twenties. And if she was in a place where the underaged are not allowed in, I could forgive him for assuming she was older. Then there’s the saying she was in college..

*If* it played out like that it sounds more like a get-rich-quick scheme.

  36. Vibius says:

From what I read he was hanging out in an 18+ club/bar (which in iteself is somewhat pathetic) and she was using a fake/borrowed ID. Outside of asking for a birth certificate, 2 forms of ID and references everytime he meets a girl, what should he have done?

  37. 88Modesty88 says:

    Is 17 underage? Just asking.

Here in South Africa, ironically, 17 is legal age for boys and 16 for girls. Which means a 16-year-old girl would be in trouble if she had sex with her 16-year-old boyfriend! Kinda warped…

  38. Anti-icon says:

This should be updated. The scammers were found GUILTY. Sentencing in October. Yeah John Stamos, you lovely looking man.
