Courtney Love: Frances Bean has ‘enough money to kill her’ & was offered Twilight lead

I first read this story on ONTD, which claimed in the title that Courtney Love said her estranged daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, would die by 22 if she spent her inheritance on drugs. If you read Love’s remarks more carefully, she’s probably just saying the money will be gone in a few years, not that Frances will be gone at 22. She did say it’s enough money to kill her, though, and it’s like the evil bitch is counting on it. Love has plenty of money problems and has insisted that there’s some kind of money laundering conspiracy to steal her late husband, Kurt Cobain’s estate. I’m sure she’s just incredibly bitter that it’s her daughter who will be able to spend Kurt’s fortune on drugs (if she’s so inclined) and not her. According to some accounts she’s already squandered her share.

This quote is out of a long interview in the Daily Mail. It’s hard to read Love’s rambling remarks and come to any conclusion other than that she’s on lots of speed and random prescription drugs. She’s no longer in contact with Frances, from whom she was court-ordered to stay away from last year.

No wonder relations between her and Frances are strained. I ask her to explain what is going on between them. Courtney lost custody in 2003, and was banned last year from even contacting her daughter because a judge deemed her too unstable. Despite the ban, Courtney reportedly tweets her daughter many times a day.

‘She is going to be 18 on 15 August. Thank God, because then this whole palaver will be done. She lives in a mansion by herself. A 17-year-old getting $40,000 a month is outrageous to me, that’s on top of them paying for the mansion. She lives with her nanny, and Grandma Wendy and Kim [Kurt Cobain’s mother and sister] live two doors down, but there’s no drug testing going on. It’s a lot of money for a normal person. It’s enough money to kill her, if she is doing drugs, enough money to be gone by the time she’s 22…

‘I’ve been paying for Wendy’s upkeep and she wasn’t in Kurt’s will, but I really love Wendy and she was a terrible mother, but she is Frances’s grandmother. I bought her a house, I bought Kim a house, restaurants, f***ing horses, and like 50 grand a month and I’m still paying it, by the way. Next thing you know it was Thanksgiving and my daughter had gone.’ Is this true? Who knows. Courtney’s lawyer once confirmed Cobain left money for the benefit of his wife, daughter, mother and siblings; where all that money has gone is anyone’s guess.

Are they in touch, beyond the Twittering? ‘We don’t speak on the phone, but we went to court so that we could start this thing called Family Wizard where our e-mails are monitored, so there’s no restraining order any more.’

It must be heartbreaking. ‘Yeah. I bought her a Birkin for her 15th birthday.’ Did she appreciate it? ‘She damn well did!’ I read somewhere that Courtney wanted her daughter to be in her band. ‘No, I said that as a metaphor, that if she was in my band we would probably relate better, because I’m so maternal towards my bandmates. Frances is so beautiful, but she doesn’t want to be famous. She was offered the part of Bella in the Twilight movies, and Tim Burton wanted her for Alice in Wonderland. But she wants to go to college: she’s very good at graphic novels. Me and her dad, we used to communicate on our satchels with cartoons, we’d do cartoons of our love life… Frances will be fine, it’ll be fine. It’s very much about her trust fund, and they [the trustees] hate me.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Oh so Frances Bean, who has never acted before, was offered the role of Bella in Twilight? I’m so sure that’s true. This girl has done well to distance herself as much as possible from her insane mother. I’m just amazed that Courtney is still alive and performing. (Courtney even bragged that Gwyneth Paltrow would be attending her show. Ha! Here’s a recap of one of her recent performances, just for sh*ts and giggles.) Fingers crossed that Frances has enough good influences around her to escape her mother’s manic stranglehold. Since Courtney can no longer spread her crazy to Frances in person, she’s trying to use the media to do it for her. How reassuring that she thinks her daughter will have enough money to kill her. I’m sure Courtney would gladly take possession of that cash in the sad event that it ever lead to her daughter’s demise. Wait – isn’t that how she got all that money in the first place?

Singer Courtney Love strolled around the Soho area of New York on May 11, 2010 with a young man who we believe is her realtor or real estate agent. It s rumored that Courtney will be buying a new home in the area but that has been in the works for about two years now. Will Courtney ever find a place to call home? Fame Pictures, Inc

just read the gig description – omg! rolls eyes…

  3. meme says:

it’s way too early in the morning for cracked out courtney

  4. Brittney says:

Frances Bean is a miracle child. I highly (no pun intended) doubt she’ll squander the money; we never see her doing anything but looking cute and age-appropriate.

Also, I read this as “enough money to hire someone to kill her mom.”

  5. Whatever says:

Well, her daughter does have the vacant expression required for Bella, but I doubt she was offered it.

  6. MSat says:

Why is she inferring that her daughter is using drugs? That’s a classic junkie rationale- if Courtney is a drugged out mess, everyone else must be, too.

Courtney is a huge liar, possibly even pathological. I will never forget how trashed she was on the Comedy Central roast of Pamela Anderson. She was slurring her words and flashed the audience her underpants, but kept insisting that she had been “clean and sober for 3 years.” That was right before she lost custody of Frances for the second time.

Courtney did a speaking gig recently at a record store in Boston and most of the talk she gave that day was complete fabrication. The rest was nearly unintelligible.

    Whackjob. Run, Frances, run!!

  7. ses says:

Even without the inheritance (which I doubt she’ll squander by 22 — maybe Courtney would), Frances seems like she’ll do just fine. She recently had a debut solo show at a gallery in LA and I read somewhere that Ozzy Osbourne bought a ton of her work:

STOP !! With that RED LIPSTICK already !!!

  9. Victoria says:

I too find it interesting that Courtney Love is saying Frances Bean is going to spend (or is spending) all that money on drugs! That’s what Courtney would do! Im sure the whole reason Frances got a restraining order from her mother is because Cournty is JUST TOO STRESSFUL! That woman would make your hair fall out!

  10. snowball says:

All Courtney does is bitch about how people are spending Kurt’s money. How many years does the man have to be dead for her to quit talking about it like it’s still hers?

She should get tased every time she mentions his name or her daughter’s. She’s proven over and over again that she can’t say anything productive about either of them.

  11. Solveig says:

@Brittney, I agree, she looks very strong and right in the head, especially considering the bad influence Courtney might have had on her.
As for Courtney, it seems that the only way she stays relevant is when she talks about (or is connected to) someone else.

  12. denise says:

Frances looks just like her daddy.

  13. Obvious says:

LiLo are you taking notes? Frances is a perfect example on how to deal with delusional family members. restraining orders, and finding better people to surround yourself with. Please LiLo…

Go Frances. I think courtney is whacked out, and I wish nothing but the best for Frances. I also find it funny how from some angles she’s a beautiful girl-but from others she gives Rumer a run for her money…

  14. Brooke says:

please, please, please no more pictures of Frances’ or Courtney’s faces. It hurts.

  15. jc126 says:

I also read it initially as “Frances has enough money to have Courtney killed”, and I started thinking that might be a good idea. But it was meant otherwise.
Courtney is a waste of oxygen, and a pathological liar. Remember how she used to rail against Vanity Fair, and the reporter (Lynn Hirschfeld?) who wrote that profile revealing that a pregnant Courtney did heroin? She finally admitted a few years ago that she HAD been on heroin, after years of strenuous denial and threats against the reporter. Dirtbag.
I also can’t help but notice that she hasn’t had a good song since Live Through This, which leads me to believe that Kurt must’ve wrote most of it for her.
Skanky parasite. I’m rather bummed that this beast walks among us, and Heath Ledger is gone.

  16. Rosanna says:

She’s right her daughter could get killed with all that money. But her job as a parent was to *teach* her daughter some values so that Frances could actually behave properly. If Courtney hasn’t done her job, it’s not Frances’ fault. However, I do think that other “adults” in Frances’ life (read: her aunt, her grandma) are using her as a trophy against Courtney, and THAT ultimately is what is going to kill her.

  17. Carrie says:

Here’s hoping that Frances can find a life that makes her happy, despite her mother.

The kid has had a hell of a life thus far (dead father, mess of a mother, heir to a legacy that people have been fighting over for years, etc, etc, etc).

I don’t know a thing about her, which speaks well of her- she’s not famewhoring, she’s just living her life.

  18. Missfit says:

I doubt the Bella and Alice theory…Courtney is so full of herself and she must want her daughter to be full of herself too and she must want Frances to be an attention whore too, which she doesn’t seem like it, and that’s good…and good thing she got away when she did.

  19. FUTURESTARdelux says:

Yes Courtney is a whackjob but i think you went a bit far implying that she would be happy for her daughter to die so that she can get the money.
Although she is usually off her face i’m sure she loves Frances.

Also can i just say that Courtney is an amazing musician, Hole’s new album “Nobodys Daughter” is fantastic and most of the clips of her live gigs that i’ve seen recently have been great so…

  20. original kate says:

i had the misfortune to attend a hole concert and courtney was painfully bad. an “amazing musician” she is not, IMO. i also think kurt wrote most of her first album, because she hasn’t had a decent song since. but, i have met her twice and she is surprisingly sweet in person; out of it, but sweet. she came into my bookstore and bought lots of art books.

  21. Ash says:

Yeah, Kurt most certainly wrote the bulk of “Live Through This.”

It’s a shame. I have this weird mentality of really wanting to root for Courtney. When she cleaned herself up and was acting, I was really happy for her. And she is very well-read and pretty intelligent. Sadly, drugs have always been her first love and always will be.

  22. moocowhead says:

:/ That is not a mother by any standard.

  23. Dannnii says:

Frances does not live in a mansion. She lives in a nice but modest home in Washington state with her grandmother.
    WTF Courtney.
