Elin Woods scores People Mag cover: “I’ve been through hell”

people

This kind of shocks the hell out of me. Elin Nordegren gave an extensive and exclusive interview to People Magazine, all about her ordeal at the hands of Tiger Woods’ wandering dong. According to People, the whole interview was 19 hours long, over the course of four days, and Elin gave them access before and after the divorce was finalized. Here’s People’s brief excerpt from their cover story:

Her divorce is final and she’s ready to talk. Elin Nordegren breaks her nine-month silence in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine.

“I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children,” she says in the magazine’s latest issue, out just days after her split from Tiger Woods was made official.

The 30-year-old mother of two, who is studying towards a college degree in psychology, says that despite her husband’s betrayal, “I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself.”

In 19 hours over four visits to her Windermere, Fla., rental home, Nordegren shared never-before-seen personal photographs and opened up to PEOPLE about the emotional roller coaster she’s been on, her life as a mother to Sam, 3, and Charlie, 19 months, and her hopes for the future.

“My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes, but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal,” she says.

She tells the magazine this was her first – and last – interview, as she intends to remain a private person.

For much more, including exclusive photos of Nordegren at home, pick up the new issue of PEOPLE on newsstands Friday.

Oh, so she’s playing the “this is the only interview I’m going to give” game. Okay. Sure. I’ll buy that. By the way, in case you thought People talked to her for 19 hours without getting any dirt, NBC’s Today show got the exclusive with the the People Mag reporter, and they also excerpted even more from the story:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Elin also tells the mag that as more and more of Tiger’s mistresses came out, she felt “absolute shock and disbelief. I felt stupid as more things were revealed – how could I not have known anything? The world betrayal isn’t strong enough. I felt like my whole world had fallen apart.”

On Tiger: “I loved him, we had so much fun. I felt safe with him.”

On reportedly and allegedly chasing Tiger out of the house as she wielded a golf club: “The speculation that I would have used a golf club to hit him is just truly ridiculous.”

On the SNL skits and late-night jokes parodying the violent allegations: “Pretty hysterical, even if they were totally untrue.”

Elin also confirms that she plans to raise the kids in Florida, and Tiger released a statement to People saying, “Elin is a wonderful mother. I know that two of us will do everything we can to help our children adjust to this new family situation.” Elin also plans to continue her education and get her Bachelor’s in Psychology.

Post-split, Elin says she’s “not watched one minute of golf.” And she says she probably won’t date for a while, but that she “believes in love.”

There’s a lot more in the Today show clip! Also, The Sun’s sources (I know) say that Elin’s settlement was much bigger than $100 million, and that she’s on the war path or whatever: “Elin is a strong, independent woman who has been badly wronged. It is not about money. She has turned down a host of offers. And she won’t really dish the dirt. She wanted to show she will not be silenced. She wants people to see she’s not allowing her husband’s legal team to call all the shots.” The Sun says: “But pals said reports she got ‘only’ £70million were ‘laughable‘. They insisted the deal easily beat the £100million Tiger’s basketball pal Michael Jordan paid his wife Juanita in 2007.”

  1. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Yea I just watched the Today Show piece. I feel for her and I am sorry Tiger turned out to be a dirt bag. The important thing is I believe she is gonna get through this and she sounds really strong. The kids will still have their dad because she is gonna be close by him and all parties involved will be ok, well IDK about Tiger. Anybody placing bets on how he will do on his next tournament in NJ?

  2. Rita says:

The settlement amount is irrelevant. She and her children can’t spend whatever she got in 10 life times but good for her if she took a bit of Tiger’s “ass” seeing that he got so much outside the marriage. Betrayl=pain=resolve=strength. I can only applaud her.

  3. pebbles says:

A little disappointing. I would have respected her if she just took the 100 mill and then went about the business of raising her children and making her own life. Not that she needs my respect……she’s got money and probably a book deal or Playboy deal coming……

  4. Luci says:

this is sort of a bummer
i totally loved that she had kept classy and not spoken out

  5. Hautie says:

Well she needed to give one interview or the vultures/tabloids would have never gave her any peace.

People Magazine was a safe bet with getting a positive spin on her story.

Though Vanity Fair probably would have even given her the Annie Leibovitz photo shoot, along with a great cover story.

  6. mike says:

I would actually feel sorry for her had she not blackmailed Tiger and showed the world what a gold digger she is.

Yeah she’s a gold digger. She signed a pre-nup, and divorces today are no-fault divorces, meaning spousal cheating should have no bearing at all. Were she worried about Tiger’s fidelity, she could have included a morality clause in the prenup, but she didn’t.

Instead of taking her no-fault prenup and divorce and telling the world what a douchebag Tiger was, she opted to blackmail Tiger instead. Apparently, she valued money more than the truth.

The textbook example of a proud and straight up gold digger.

  7. jay says:

She is so classy and I bet Tiger is so sad he ruined his family dream. What a jerk to do this to not only her but to her children. How could Tiger be so cruel. I feel bad he has to live with himself knowing what he did. YUCK

  8. Isa says:

I’m surprised, I figured part of the settlement would be that she wasn’t allowed to grant interviews or talk about the situation.
She seems like a very strong woman and I am impressed, just like I was with Sandra Bullock’s interview.

  9. DD says:

As an aside, Tiger put her in a lot of risk for STD’s, some of them which are life threatening. He had a lot of mistresses and didn’t use protection with several I think was reported. I hope she’s okay, but that would put me through emotional torment and for that she deserves a payout for having her health put at risk.

  10. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

I find nothing wrong with her giving an interview. Nor do I find anything wrong with her getting whatever money she got. Why should she have walked away with the original pre-nup agreement? She wasn’t the reason the marriage failed. Wasn’t there an agreement on his part to love, honor, and cherish? Didn’t he agree to be her husband? He didn’t honor any agreements in their marriage, why should she honor the pre-nup?

If men would learn to keep their dicks in their pants, then maybe their money wouldn’t leave their wallet!

  11. danielle says:

I think this will be the only interview she gives.

  12. michele says:

That is one gorgeous, terrific, smart woman. Man, Tiger had frickin’ prime Kobe beef at home, and went out for gas station hot dogs. A male friend of mine summed it up: “Sometimes a guy just wants a hot dog, y’know?”. It’s not a reflection on Elin. He just blew it. I love that she’s finishing school. That’s a good healthy way for her to heal, and she’s setting a terrific example for her kids. Team Elin all the way :). Eat your heart out Tiger – you blew the best thing that ever happened to you and probably lost the respect of your kids just to diddle a few skanks.

  13. Leticia says:

    @Mike, Tiger is that you?

  14. Annie says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! Good for her for not being silenced by his team of Goons. She gets the last word and I totally get it.

She is still ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT class! Can’t wait to buy my one people magazine this year!

  15. mike says:

    @Fluffy Kitten,

Tiger being a douchebag shouldn’t have mattered. Today’s divorces — rightly — are no fault.

Had she wanted, she could have insisted on a morality clause to void the prenup in case of infidelity, but she didn’t. That means she was ok that she would get the same amount even if Tiger cheated.

  16. Whatever says:

There is nothing wrong with doing the interview. I’m glad she didn’t let Tiger silence her. Who the hell is he to say what she can or cannot talk about? She is refusing to be silenced and let him dictate who she speaks to and what she says. Good for her. He deserves no control or say in her life. At all. At least the people crying that she was taking the kids from Tiger can shut up, since she is staying in Florida.

  17. mike says:

    @Leticia,

I wish I was Tiger. Well, I wish I had Tiger’s money, at least.

  18. mike says:

    @Whatever,

She is silenced. She cannot tell the world what a douchebag Tiger was during the marriage. All because she wanted 100 million dollars instead of 20 million dollars…

  19. Just a Poster says:

I see Tiger’s PR team is already trolling the gossip blogs. LOL

  20. mike says:

Yeah, I wish I was on Tiger’s PR team… and getting paid!

Email me, Tiger’s PR! I’m cheaper than those guys in NYC or LA!

  21. lucy2 says:

Mike, ever think maybe she’s thinking of her children in not “telling the world”? They’re already going to grow up hearing a lot of bad stuff about their dad, why would she add to it?

I’m surprised she did an interview too, but I hope she sticks with the first & last idea. The best thing she can do is move on with her life and be a good mom to her kids. Dwelling on this or trying to create celebrity out of it won’t make anyone happy, and it sounds like she has no interest in that anyway.

  22. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

@Mike- I could give a damn about all that. She got the settlement and obviously Tiger didn’t object now, did he?

You men always get upset when a woman rapes your bank account. Never mind what you do to the women.

Yeah, Elin should be fair, since Tiger was so fair to her. Screw that! You play, you pay. Simple as that.

Maybe Tiger will think twice before he lets his other head do his thinking for him again. Didn’t work out too well for him in the past.

  23. crumbcake says:

Good for Elin! She deserves every red cent of the divorce settlement. No one should be treated that way by anyone. . . especially by the one person who took vows to honor and cherish you through thick and thin!

And Mike, you say that now she cannot tell the world what a D-Bag Tiger is because she wanted more than 20 million. Elin doesn’t have to say anything about his behavior at all. The WHOLE WORLD already knows what a D-bag he is because he acted like such a rabid whore that some of (I’m sure there were more than those who came forward) of the low grade skanks spilled the beans on him. Tiger is disgusting and I don’t have any sympathy for him at all.

  24. California Surfer says:

I totally have a hard time feeling sorry for this chick – um I think the chicks in Afghanistan, India Africa etc are having a way majorly harder time in life than Elin. Grandma thinks she should maybe get together with Angelina and do some humanitarinan stuff or something?

  25. Feebee says:

It sounds like a classy interview to answer some of the stupid stuff surrounding her. I believe it will be her first and last. She has handled herself with grace throughout the whole ordeal and I think that’s because that’s who she is.

I don’t usually get personal with the posters here but Mike your original post made me think you’re an idiot. Not every one who marries a rich person is a gold-digger and no-fault divorces are by and large a fallacy. A by-product of this no personal responsibility age we live in.

  26. California Surfer says:

Oops, I forgot to add that Grandma rocks on Usher and thinks that he should be included in the guy friday bit (she loves this feature on this site!)

  27. aenflex says:

I’m glad she gave an interview, after everyone else got their turn to say whatever. It was probably nothing more than her wanting people to hear her side. When you have been through a painful ordeal, and what’s worse is that the world is watching, I could see someone wanting to make their side clear. And maybe, hopefully, she did it so that people could see how hurt she was by Tiger, and thusly perhaps further tarnish his image which has been getting a little cleaner lately.

  28. masonwasp says:

I agree with Mike and I’m a chick. Tiger earned the money – a lot of it before he married her. She is now unbelievably wealthy for simply being pretty and having a good lawyer.

Divorce laws are a joke these days. If I were a man, I would never get married. Women can’t continue to be both equal and victims.

  29. RobN says:

She thought the SNL stuff was hysterical. He gave up a hot woman with a sense of humor for cheap whores. That was not a good bargain.

  30. OhCamille! says:

    @Mike: “gold digger”, really?
Your comment exemplifies what alot of men think about this situation. Afterall, he didn’t commit a crime, he “just cheated on his wife”, right?
Also, you believe she should have taken the prenup agreement? Maybe she wanted to, maybe he begged her to take more so that he could guarantee her silence. Wouldn’t that make HIM the gold digger, yes it would. Most of the general public is disgusted by his behavior. That which we don’t know would bury him. He drove his own bus in the divorce settlement, not her or her lawyers.
When is Nike gonna wake up and dump him too?

  31. Ligeia says:

why the hell should she be kept silent and muzzled? so she can be “respected”? by whom? people who speculated about her intentions and called her a gold digging tramp anyways? bloody ridiculous.
great move on her part: to wait till divorce is finalized then chose the most respectable of celebrity gossip rags to sell her side of the story to. atta girl, ignore the haters wishing they had your money and live your life.

  32. Jen says:

I know I’m going to get slammed for this but….here goes:

Tiger is a scumbag. Always was — so why, if all she wanted was a nice, stable family, did she marry him?

Cheating is WRONG. But it’s not like she helped him to rise to the top of the golf world.

Making him sandwiches and sending him to the course at 6 AM, working at the QuikTrip so he could hit buckets of balls….no, he was an established golf superstar by the time she met and married him.

A divorce settlement is not revenge. It’s about fairly splitting assets obtained DURING the marriage and providing for your children. It kind of makes me queasy when I read the whole “get ’em girl” thing.

  33. Jen says:

Camille — it’s not just men that don’t agree with the financial settlement. He cheated and that’s disgusting but there is no monetary value that can be placed on dignity. Divorce him and move on.

Michele — lol….love your comment! Reminds me of something else I heard: behind every beautiful woman is man who is sick of her shit. LOL

  34. pebbles says:

    @ California Surfer:
High five! She’s “been through hell?” Really? Try death of a child, or chemotherapy, or abject poverty. These are extreme, I realize, but being rich and pretty – you shouldn’t throw around hyperboles like that.

  35. mel says:

I luv the fact that she’s not allowing Tiger’s legal team to call the shots and she’s been holding in her emotions for 8 or 9 months and now she speaks. Good for you Elin.

  36. Embee says:

Note that she did not discuss Tiger or her settlement, she simply set the record straight about HER behavior/knowledge/intent, as is her right.

    Very classy.

mike you cannot know her intent so you don’t know if she’s a golddigger, whether she “blackmailed” Tiger (its called negotiation, btw…if it was blackmail she’d have been called out by his phalanx of attys). And the fact that your range of emotions for her spans “feeling sorry for” or judging her a golddgger says far more about you than Elin.

  37. Raven says:

She’s not a golddigger. She stayed home, had the children and as far as we can tell, was doing a good job raising them and being a supportive wife. He’s said that she was a great wife and mother. I think she really loved her husband and he made a complete fool of her. He got his and now she’s getting hers.

Somehow, Mike, you think that men are entitled to contract negotiation, but women are not. I hope you wear a T-shirt that says “Elin is a golddigger” on it the next time you ask some woman out. I’m sure she’ll be suitably impressed. I

  38. Kate says:

I am supremely confident that this interview was “approved” by Tiger’s team. It is a one-time deal, and then it will be over. For those “disappointed” with her for talking, were you also “disappointed” in Sandra Bullock’s People Magazine interview/cover? Same kind of thing — you give the one interview to get your spin out there and minimize the frenzy.

  39. jzhz says:

Why all the photos of her in a bikini? I feel like this perpetuates the self-hating attitude some of us women have that a woman who is conventionally pretty does not deserve to be cheated on. NO ONE deserves to be treated that way. He is a whore and an asshole. I wish her the best.

  40. Melissa says:

How does everybody know that there was no infidelity clause in the pre-nup. Has this been established?

  41. Leek says:

@DD– I have been saying that all along, too. Plus, he was cheating since before they even married so it’s possible she had to have their babies tested. If I had to have my son tested for AIDS because his dad screwed porn stars and everyone else living in FL and Vegas, then you bet I would be a “gold digger”, too.

  42. Rita says:

    @Raven #37
I understand what you’re saying but ladies, let’s be perfectly clear where a cheating spouse is concerned. The “cheated on” suffers the pain of betrayal and a “sense” of humiliation but the loss of dignity and humiliation belongs to the fool who did the cheating. Whether its Tiger, Jessie, Mel, Eddie, Fraser, or LeAnn the humiliation and disrespect belong to them, not their victims.

  43. Tiffany says:

    Mike,

Did you do something stupid for your ex-wife to get half the assets in the divorce. I thought that in divorce they would look at what was accrued during the marriage and if they were married 5 years and his average income was $ 90 mil a year, I say he got off pretty easy. I would also assume that she will getting child support until the youngest turns 18. I know that Tiger is a D-Bag for the adultry, but I doubt that he would be a cheapskate when it came to his children and their mother.

  44. TG says:

Her psychology studies must be coming in handy. And she should keep modeling those pics are gorgeous. I think she did run after him with a golf club like he deserved.

  45. Aqua says:

She is one smart, classy, beautiful woman who has handled this very public humiliation with grace and dignity unlike his mistresses. She said nothing negative about Tiger in this interview, she just wanted to tell her side of it once and move on with her life focusing on her kids and continue with her education. I applaud her for how she has handled it all.

As far as the money goes if he wasn’t willing to give it she wouldn’t have gotten it.

  46. mel says:

    Well said Aqua.

  47. irena NL says:

Love this woman. She’ll never be naive again.

  48. irena NL says:

@ michele….fantastic post on your part

  49. dj says:

Morality clauses in marriage contracts? Pffft! If you think it’s not going to work then guess what? IT’S not going to work! End of engagement. Next candidate.

  50. Juice in LA says:

@Love Angelina: well said. Sure – as others have pointed out- there are many people in this world suffering- but they weren’t going to get a piece of Tiger’s bank anyway, so should he be punished for his heinous disgusting betrayal? Yes. And I say this firmly believing that any woman who marries an internationally renown athlete is a fool to think he’s not getting any on the side. Tiger- however really redefined the whole tawdry scene. Makes me wonder if Wilt Chamberlain and Gene Simmons were actually telling the truth.

  51. dj says:

    Ditto Aqua.

  52. original kate says:

if tiger had unprotected sex (which he apparently did with several of his “ladies”) then came home and boned his wife without telling her he may be exposing her (and their unborn children) to an STD, she deserves every damn penny she got from him. elin needs to take the money and just walk away from this mess, and tiger needs to learn to put a raincoat on “tiny tiger.”

  53. life says:

Elin story is a lie every married woman know when there spouse cheat cause men can not remain the same in there actions physicaly or emotionaly just saying she had to get irratated down there with all that bacteria from those women having all that money I would have confidence too

  54. julie says:

She is so beautiful and classy. Obviously way too good for Tiger, who seems to like fugly low class skanks, why did he even marry her? I dont get why skankmongers bother to get married and then whine that “she took” half his money because he couldnt keep his brain in his pants. I hope she finds a classy nice guy who treats her like a queen and I hope Tigers career goes downhill. No classy woman will go near him without full body armor now.

  55. Katie says:

I think it’s pretty awesome that’s she getting a degree. If I came into a shit ton of cash I would stay in school the rest of my life. I’ve been out of grad school a year and I’m already itching to go back to school. So good for her, and what a great example that sets for her kids, to see their mom getting an education even though she doesn’t need the money.

  56. minnie says:

to mike, jen, and the others who say elin doesn’t “deserve” her settlement:

have you ever considered the tiger may truly feel horrible for what he did to his wife and kids, for what he put them through? i think its highly probable that he feels absolutely atrocious for what he did to her/them, and wishes more than anything that he could take his actions back and restore his marriage and family to what it was.

if this is the case, then I bet there is a very strong chance that tiger wanted to set elin (and his kids, for that matter) up for life. he is acknowledging that she is a wonderful mother, and i’m sure the kids will spend more of their time with her, so why wouldn’t he want her and them to live the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed?

anyhow, i’m sure the settlement didn’t dent his fortune so greatly that he will have to actually change his daily lifestyle, anyway.

my take is that tiger knows he f’ed up the best thing he ever had, and understands why elin can’t take him back after such a betrayal. i think the next best thing he can do to show his regret and sorrow for causing the failure of their family is to set her up financially.

of course this viewpoint assumes that tiger has at least one inkling of a conscience. and i’m aware that is a big assumption.

  57. kim says:

I think if she does 1 interview its ok to tell her side of story but she needs to stop at one or she is doing it for the fame/publicity not to tell her side. She has been thru hell and a very public divorce. She should not feel humiliated. Tiger is scum and she is smart and strong for divorcing him because he wasnt going to change. I feel for her and the kids because the kids mostly will suffer for this the rest of their lives. Toger is a selfish prick!!!!!

  58. kim says:

SHE DESERVES EVERY PENNY AND THEN SOME!!! TIGER SHOULD BE LEFT IN POORHOUSE FOR BREAKING UP HIS MARRIAGE IN A TOTALLY IMMORAL WAY, PUBLICLY HUMILIATING ELIN AND CAUSING THE KIDS STRESS OR DIVORCE FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!!!!!

  59. Anti-icon says:

I’m not going to read the comments, b/c I get so angry at those who disparage Elin. I think granting this article is smart. She hasn’t given ONE yet, and that has been the correct thing. Now, it’s over, and she’ll be dogged (rumors abound) forever if she does not give one thorough interview now, to show the public that she is sane and a very good mother, and a good and decent person. I hope she does nothing else public.

  60. Rita says:

    @minnie
I’m very much in agreement with your comments. I think Tiger’s current golf game is a reflection of his conscience and so is the settlement. I’m glad he has a conscience as well as understand and support Elin in her choice.

  61. masonwasp says:

Kim, your comment is exactly the reason why many people think marriage should be a religious or spiritual agreement, not a legal one overseen by the government. It’s nearly impossible to legislate things like infidelity and public humiliation, let alone put a value on it.

I agree with the people who have said that divorce is not about revenge. Tiger is a jerk, that’s true, but that shouldn’t matter when dealing with the division of assets. Saying that he agreed to it is well and good, but the fact is that he probably didn’t have a choice.

What exactly did Elin do to deserve her huge settlement? She married a rich guy. It’s not exactly ringing endorsement of female empowerment. So let’s not glorify her.

  62. Jeri says:

I think she does women proud.

  63. Praise St. Angie! says:

for those who say she “doesn’t deserve it” or “what did she do to earn it”…

keep in mind that the large majority of Tiger’s wealth came from endorsements, not golf tournaments. the reason he got those endorsements was partially (mostly, in some people’s opinions) his image as a clean-cut, loving husband and father. an image which Elin was a part of, and helped him form.

would he have gotten as many endorsements as a single guy? perhaps. but he sure as hell wouldn’t have gotten ANY of them if people knew what a slut he was, and who, exactly, he was being slutty WITH.

also, consider, as a poster above said, that his golf game has suffered quite a bit from all of this. could it be, perhaps, that his success was partially due to the love and support of a wonderful woman? and if this is true, then she DOES deserve some of his golf winnings, too.

add to this post what minnie (#56) said, and I think what she got is absolutely fair.

  64. Audra says:

I love this woman. She’s an amazing example of how to maintain composure under an extremely stressful and heartbreaking situation. She never lost focus of who she was. Class act. A true Swede – humble and refined. I wish her all the best.

  65. Taya says:

Her first interview in 10 months. She knows how to have restraint. Elin is still a woman with class and I wish her the best.

  66. KellyBrynn says:

@ mike and others who say she doesn’t deserve the money:

what she DESERVES is to not have her husband cheat on her, humiliate her and expose her to STDs without her knowledge. What she DESERVES is acknowledgement for raising Tiger’s kids 24/7 while he was boning women left and right. what she DESERVES is to get her life back on track, without Tiger lying to her. She was successful before they married and obviously she did not have a salary to match his, but she’s raising her and Tiger Woods kids now, those kids would have had access to that money in one way or another if their family had stayed together.

you can call her a gold digger, do it on the mountaintops! but the reality of the situation is he put her health, mental and physical, at risk. He put his kids at risk (luckily they are small enough that they might not remember this time, but believe me they will learn how to read) of mental problems from coming from such a tumultuous situation.
Ultimately, it isn’t about money, Elin would take having a happy family and marriage over 100$ million anyday. Plus, if she really was after the money, she’s change her name to rachel yuckitel (or however its spelled, anytime i see her last name i just think YUCK).

also i find it interesting that mike needed to point out “if she was worried about tiger’s fidelity she should have …” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? because she DIDNT predict he would habitually cheat on her, she’s a gold digger? great detective work there, columbo.

Sorry, I just don’t agree with the concept that this woman gets to be insanely wealthy because her husband is a golf prodigy. He is the one with the talent.

What talents or skills does she bring to the world that are worth over $100 million?

Being a mother and wife is something a gazillion women are doing every day. A lot of them are single, too. Sure, she’s a model, too, which we all know from America’s Next Top Model is harder than it seems. Still worth $100 million?

I am not disparaging single moms (my mom did a great job raising four kids or her own) or home-makers. But it seems to me that this woman just won the lottery. Plain and simple.

    Masonwasp:

“But it seems to me that this woman just won the lottery. Plain and simple.”

Tiger won the Lottery when he married her and chose her as the mother of his children. He blew it, not her.

  69. Heather says:

She’s so gorgeous and classy. Both things the mistresses were not. Tiger Woods is a moron.

  70. masonwasp says:

Jeri – agreed that he ruined the marriage. But that’s not my point. She’s rich because of his talent. I have a lot more respect for women who pay their own way.

  71. oxa says:

Tiger made a gazilion bucks on his image, that image of the family man with wife and kids, so yeah she is entitled to half his endorsment money.

  72. Mrs Odie 2 says:

I pretty much agree with Jen.

I also like, “No matter how beautiful a woman is, somewhere out there is a guy who’s bored with f****** her.” Sadly for we monogamous women, men love sexual variety.

I feel bad for her because I can imagine what it would feel like for my child to not have mommy and daddy together. It would devastate her and we mothers want to protect our kids from all the pain we can. Tiger didn’t just screw over his wife, he screwed over his young daughter and INFANT son. This, to me, is unforgivable.

  73. hairball says:

Um, Mike, you are blaming the WIFE, calling her a gold digger, with no regards for the truth because she was not willing to tell STRANGERS about what happened…?

No one put a gun to Tiger to marry her. No one put a gun to Tiger to whore out on a multitude of women. If he wanted to do that, don’t get married.

Seems like Tiger’s the one who is the gold digger knowing he’d get more endorsements with a wife and kids then the slut douche he really is.

Good luck with being bitter and alone.

  74. Ruffian9 says:

    Wow, mike, you sound fun…

  75. Truthzbetta says:

Never speak for all men when it comes to doggish behavior. It’s b.s. that all men are jerks.

Will Smith could be clowning around with every woman in Hollywood but says he’s just a one woman kinda guy. Jay Leno collects cars and says that as for women, his Nobel worthy wife is enough for him. If they’re not real someone else is.

There are plenty of wonderful men out there, if you don’t know any keep looking. You know, go past Mike and move on to the good ones.

  76. lynn says:

i am vehemently opposed to cheating and can’t imagine the betrayal especially when it’s broadcasted worldwide. i have to agree with @ pebbles though, there are women (and men) out there with insurmountable problems. people get cheated on EVERYDAY and don’t get rewarded with hundreds of millions of dollars as a consolation. don’t get me wrong, she should have gotten whatever she was able to. but, this was all crafted. she showed no restraint in not granting interviews, it was part of her “deal”. they knew when the divorce would be final. this interview with people happened awhile ago. it all helps tiger restore his image and all has to be sanctioned by tiger’s team. she will move on and find a man who is worthy of her respect. and he will go back to being a golf champion because it seems like that’s all he (and his father) ever really wanted. misogynists don’t change.

  77. notsoanonymous says:

@California Surfer – I read through the comments lately just to find out what Grandma says. 🙂

Go Elin! I actually believe this will truly be her only interview – and agree that she had to give ONE or they never would have left her alone.

Classy. I’m impressed. And on my way to buy the issue…

  78. K McFarlane says:

    @ masonwasp
Look at the way he plays when his marriage falls apart. I think a happy home life was a key part in his success over the years.

  79. Elm says:

The divorce rate in Sweden has been in the 90+ % for decades so this marriage was doomed to fail from the start – these 2 have nothing in common and Elin will divorce again if she re-marries which I doubt as she won’t be willing to share the wealth which she did not earn

She got to marry a billionaire and just live a dream life, and be heavily photo-shopped – I had never heard of her before Tiger got his new arm-candy and frankly cannot see what contribution she has made to the world with all that wealth and time at her disposal – not that she had to of course do anything for anyone –

its just that it jars that she has spent a year giving 19? hours of interviews – of which we have only got the first gist – this woman was prepared to spill the beans on the first day after her divorce! Couldn’t she have waited any decent time for the dust to settle?

They have both used each other – she got $330million – just like another Swede married to the BP Chairman did in 2009 – Swedish divorcees have the best lawyers – someone should tell Eli C-anal-is – its good to be prepared before you tie the knot

Its just one more pair of celebrities I don’t really care about – but it is interesting that Tiger’s golf game has declined as his playing the field in another sense has decreased ….

I say he should go back on the market and next time do some market research – there is a reason Swedish men don’t want to marry Swedish women ….

And really Elin – leave psychology to the experts – it clearly is not for you if you are too dense to sense when someone you live with is not in a relationship with you – deny the man sex often enough and he will find it elsewhere – really – do you need to get a degree to figure it out – or maybe it just sounded good in the interview – there are so many of you who start degrees but drop out after a few months – remember Eli C-anal-is did the same?

Soo many dumb celebrities – why don’t you just keep your mouths shut and enjoy the limelight smiling on a richer dumber-ass’s arm?

  80. Mingo says:

H-O-T! She is hot. What an idiot he is. Don’t get married if you want to keep getting laid as much as you want by other people. OK? Now it’s officially been said.

  81. trashaddict says:

So masonwasp, you are saying lin’s talents are not worthy of $100mil? But being able to play golf is? (Shakes head). Part of what’s wrong with this world.

I feel sorry for her but at least 100 or 330mil or whatever will buy a lot of therapy for her and the kids.
