Jon Hamm shakes his groove thing for Betty White at the Emmys

There were several hilarious bits from last night’s Emmys. One was the opening, which apparently came from the brain of Jimmy Fallon. Sidenote: He did a better job hosting than I expected. I hope he gets asked back, because he did a decent job and he deserves a lot of credit for that. Anyway, Jimmy organized this hilarious opening starring some of Glee kids, Tina Fey, Betty White and my lovely Jon Hamm. This video is worth it just to see The Hamm shake his ass, honestly. But the whole thing is rather hilarious, especially the Kate Gosselin thing.

Also – I was in fits of laughter for the Modern Family thing – where they inserted George Clooney in an attempt to revamp the show. Clooney still has a great sense of humor to participate in this:

Okay, one more: Ricky Gervais is always awesome. His Mel Gibson joke is AWESOME. And we are all Bucky Gunts.

  4. jen says:

    Ricky Gervais is so adorbs!

  5. ViktoryGin says:

Fuck Hulu. I guess they think because I’m in Asia, that I’d try to steal, copy, and sell these clips. Hah. I totally would.

Anyway, at least Kate Gosselin knows where she stands.

Looks like Ricky Gervais has dropped some weight. It suits him.

Okay, okay. I’m starting to get the Jon Hamm thing, but he needs to grow back that scruff.

  6. judyjudy says:

    Jon Hamm. Oh my.

  7. melina says:

Jimmy Fallon really did a good job. I loved the opening video and the songs he did for the shows that ended last year.
How about a woman to host this next year? I’d like to see that!

  8. lucy2 says:

LOVED the White/Hamm stuff. The opening was great, also enjoyed the Modern Family stuff. Not a big fan of Jimmy Fallon, but he did very well hosting.
Ricky Gervais is always hilarious, I need to pay more attention to the stuff he does.

  9. mymy says:

Looked like something a high school would put on. And think they were so cool. Embarrassing to say the least.

  10. Keen says:

    @mymy
I think that’s the point. Maybe you’ve never seen Glee, but they’re in high school and maybe you have no idea who Jimmy Fallon but he’s pretty much the definition of silly and fun, which is what that number was. If you want a serious musical number, watch the Tonys (although the sound was better on this one at the Emmys!)

  11. Persistent Cat says:

mymy, it’s supposed to be campy and shitty, that’s what made it funny.

Question? Who was the young dark haired girl who wasn’t Lea Michele? Her one line was horrid.

  12. Fluffy Kitten Tail says:

I have to say, I am not a fan of Fallon, but last night, he actually did a great job hosting.

  13. lucy2 says:

Persistent Cat, I was trying to figure that out too, I couldn’t tell who it is, but I’ve seen elsewhere that it’s the girl who plays Santana on Glee.

  14. Jasmin says:

    Booo for hulu.

  15. Persistent Cat says:

I thought that too but Santana can sing, that girl was awful.

  16. julie says:

@lucy2 and persistant cat- i know that chick from the vampire diaries, nina dobrev, was in the opening number. that may be who you are referring to because she was only in it briefly. like blink and you’ll miss it briefly. i only noticed because it was a wtf is she doing there kind of thing.

  17. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

Poxes on Hulu’s chapped regional hide!!

  18. original kate says:

ricky’s mel gibson line was beautiful.

  19. Catherine says:

The opening gig made me cringe.

  20. xxodettexx says:

i actually sat through the whole thing, granted on DVR, and watched it… it looked like a fun party

  21. Samigirl says:

I love George Clooney EVEN more now.

  22. mln says:

OMG Ricky Gervais is so funny made me forget about the other clips which I think were good too.

  23. Jeri says:

Oh No! I forgot about it & missed the 1st hour and a little longer. Looks like I missed all the best parts. I thought they were never gonna finish with Movies & Miniseries.

I saw some good Jimmy Fallon but I hope they rerun it all.

  24. Chris says:

The Ham reminds me of Barbie’s Ken.

  25. canadianchick says:

The Hamm-wish he got an Emmy, but I’m sure he’s got a million new women in love with him, so hey, he wins and his gf better hang on tight.

  26. Raven says:

I never watch Jimmy Fallon but his opening was hilarious. I thought he did an excellent job as host, too. I wonder if he has another hosting performance in him as good as this year’s. I’m willing to find out.

Oh, and Betty White and Jon Hamm, whom I never watch either, are performers who are made for each other.

  27. raspberry says:

I agree that Fallon did a great job – very entertaining singing. The Hamm – I prefer him looking anguished and pained, rather than grinning and shimmying.
