Whenever I think of Mariah Carey and Christmas together, I always think of Love, Actually. That scene, you know? That scene that will give you goosebumps no matter how many times you see it. The scene where Joanna, the little American girl – the object of little Sam’s affection – sings Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You”. And little Joanna kills it… sigh… I’m going to watch that movie again over Thanksgiving. Anyway, Mariah Carey did a show at Rockefeller Center last night – it was all for a pretaped Christmas show for NBC, airing on November 30.
I guess it’s notable because this is the first performance and major outing Mariah has given since she announced her pregnancy – she was pregnant when she performed in Brazil a few months ago, but that was before she announced anything. Personally, I think Mariah looks amazing – I don’t know how far along she is, but I find her radiant and beautiful. This red coat certainly helps – I’m not pregnant, and I totally want it.

As much as it pains my black, little heart (because this is MC after all) I am happy for her to finally have her own child.
I’ve never liked Mariah, always found her irritating… BUT, she’s growing on me now that she’s preggo. Weird, never thought I’d say I kinda like her, but I do. I hope the rest of her pregnancy is smooth sailing.

Sassy, ITA! I remember reading a Rolling Stone article on her years ago & she didn’t know her address b/c she took a limo everywhere & the driver knew. I decided then that I couldn’t like her b/c how could a grown person, a voting age adult, not know where they live? But I kind of like her now. It’s like Mariah used up all the silly diva tolerance I have & there’s none left for JSimp & her fugly crackerjack ring.

Wow…her face has really blown up….and how is wearing a huge red jacket showing off her baby bump? Looks to me like she is still trying to hide it.
FINALLY she didn’t wear something that looked like it was strangling her. I love that coat too! And would probably love more of Mariah’s clothes if she wore her size more often. This may be the start of something….
@dread pirate…LOL exactly! And the fact that she was always dressing like a slutty teen, drove me nuts! Now, she seems to be embracing the fact that she’s A GROWN ASS WOMAN and at least trying to show some maturity and class. Maybe motherhood will bring her down to earth. 🙂

Bump? Where? Hard to see under all the fabirc and the fact that her body has like tripled in size….
some of you are so rude the progesterone she had to take after the miscarriage and ensuing surgeries and in the first trimester of this so far smooth pregnancy made her gain weight not related to the pregnancy. besides she’s a muscular woman and Musuclar women carry pregnancy differently. if you’ve never watched a loved on go through a miscarriage or been through one yourself don’t pass judgement. she’s always loved children even helping to raise her nephews Michael & Sean when her sister was deemed unfit. her and nick will be great loving parents when their little one arrives in late march early april which means she conceived at the end of june or early july though first borns are usually late.
My daughter danced to MC’s version of “All I Want for Christmas is You” in the Disneyland Holiday Parade a couple years ago. If I NEVER hear that song again, it’ll be too soon.
Congrats to MC & Nick on their baby. Seems like it’s been a struggle for them, and I’m happy for them both. I know people thought it wouldn’t last (me chief among them), but I really think they’re good for each other. She needed someone to love her as much as she did. (NOT a typo.)

I do wonder why she’s gained so much weight. I know she’s on the heavier side in general but women really shouldn’t gain anymore than 25-30 pounds during a pregnancy. Most can get away with around 20.
@ The Hamm – From what I’ve read, it sounds like hormone treatments. I, too, am happy for her. It’s about time she’s content and I wish her well. Seems like it’s been a long time coming, you know?

Why do people on here keep saying she is not suppose to be that big! Everyone’s body type is different. Just because 20-30 pounds looks one way on you it may not look that way on me, but even if she gained more than the normal 20-30 pounds who cares as longs as she and the baby is healthy! geez!
I agree, please leave the pregnant woman alone. She is carrying a human INSIDE of her – yes, she is Mariah, she is likely going to blow up during her pregnancy.
She dressed appropriately and with class – just give her that and leave her alone.
Showing off her bump? Hardly. She’s wearing a coat that doesn’t show anything.
I hope Mariah takes it healthy and easy.
Now I love Mariah… but I also suspect she is wearing one of her Spandex dresses under that coat. Simply cause that is how she rolls. 🙂
Mariah has been heavy for the last year… prior to pregnancy. And I tend to agree it has alot to do with the hormones she has been subjected to. It is the downside to getting pregnant after 35 and having issue’s.
I don’t usually care for her, but she does look lovely, she’s glowing! Best of luck to her & Nick.

She looks radiantly happy which is just wonderful 😀 , but girl is huge and is only going to get bigger. I hope all goes well for her and the baby.
Uh it was cold that day and she also has a cold give the woman a break she’s struggled to get to this point in her life. the only issues she had were the miscarriage and the surgeries that came after it after age 35 all pregnancies aren’t high risk it depends on the mom to be’s prior history. you can’t wear spanx when your pregnant their too constricting and Mariah wouldn’t risk that she miscarried once and never wants to experience that heartbreak again look at Sophia Loren who went through it twice before she had her sons and for those successful pregnancies had to be on complete bed rest the entire nine months.
Mariah’s looking lovely and healthy, and happy. And the coat! So Christmas-y! 🙂

ummm courtney, your posts seriously worry me. its as if youre stuck in the 60s-70s with your seeming obsession with older stars (i.e. paul newman and his wife, sofia loren etc)
you have a knack for making something about mariah carey (or whichever celebutard is up the spout) about some of these older celebrities,
and quite frankly, it would appear from other comments that im not the only one whos noticed and is a bit creeped out by it.
it might be an idea to just leave older celebrities out of comment threads like this, seeing as they have no spot here.

Mariah doesn’t need progesterone to chub out. She has ALWAYS run to fat. She’s got a pass now because of the pregnancy, but I can totally see her going full Aretha afterwards.

@ Pato – I don’t think she’s in her first trimester. I read that she is due in the spring, but hey, I really don’t know and you can’t believe everything you read. 🙂 I honestly think she’s in her 2nd trimester. I guess we’ll all find out soon enough.

OMG i love her! i’m so happy she’s pregnant. i think she’s wanted a baby for a long, long time but waited until she was truly ready, which i admired. i hope she has a girl!
mariah was super skinny for a LONG time and then suddenly gained a lot of weight (around when her “rainbow” album was out). now that i think about it, this was around the time she hit her 30’s so it just may be in her genetics. especially since she never seemed to exercise to stay skinny before.
and yes, i doubt she is in her 1st trimester. she’s a high-risk pregnancy (being over 35), and with a miscarriage in her history, i doubt she’d announce the pregnancy until at least the 2nd trimester.
