Oscar VF Fashion: Emma Stone’s bangs trauma & tacky Chanel mullet dress

wenn3229738

Emma Stone is the new “It Girl”. She gave a critically acclaimed performance in Easy A, got nominated for a Golden Globe, and she was invited to this year’s Vanity Fair party. This is a big deal for someone so young – and it would have been a great opportunity for her to impress a lot of Hollywood people, AND get even more notice by professional fashion and gossip-watchers. Unfortunately, Emma fumbled. This dress is Chanel, and I passionately hate it. I hate the dress, I hate it on Emma, and I can’t believe some stylist would put this on her.

It seems like Emma’s new blonde hair and tragic bangs trauma (seriously, she’s beautiful without the bangs) have made her sense of style go haywire. I know exactly what Emma was told: “This is so unique, so special, it must be worn by someone young and fresh!” Of course it has to be worn by someone young – it’s incredibly dowdy and fug with that tacky-ass train. This is, like, one of the worst mullet dresses EVER.

This whole look is a fail. I’d like her to go back to red hair, NOW. Maybe then she’d go back to being normal.

  2. sasa says:

The hair is a mess and the dress likewise although I kinda adore it from the waist up.

  3. anons says:

what. not to mention, so much better as a ginger.

  4. serena says:

I wish she’d just stop with the blonde. She looks like hell, she’s better like a brunette or redhead.

And the dress.. oh the dress..+sigh+

  5. Roma says:

Can we mention that her makeup is awful as well?

  6. dread pirate cuervo says:

She has the same hair as the dude from Great White had in the late 80’s. I find the top of the dress interesting & if the whole dress was like that, minus the mullet, I think it would work. She must’ve given someone the herp to get stuck with this tragedy. Also, I hate her Colorifics or whatever those dyed to match shoes are called.

  7. Jackson says:

Oh Emma. This is just horrible. Bad cut, bad fabric/print, bad hair, bad makeup. Just terrible. I hope she ditches the blond hair. And the bangs. And the bright makeup. I guess it’s a good thing she wasn’t on the red carpet pre-show because she would surely be on everyone’s worst-dressed list.

  8. Cherry Rose says:

Normally I love bangs on women but, no, this does not work well on her.

And that dress! Was she having an acid flashback or something?

  9. brin says:

I don’t mind the bangs but I don’t care for her as a blonde and that dress is a bi-level disaster.

  10. malachais says:

Her hairdye job is worse than the dress. I can see why she picked this, maybe she just has a quirky personality. Atleast it fits her well.

  11. jenny says:

She’s blonde for her role in Spiderman. She will go back to red after filming wraps.

  12. mia girl says:

Poor Emma, I like her but she really had an off day.

  13. Scarlet Vixen says:

    She looks like Candi Spelling.

  14. beth says:

ohmegawd, the 18-21yo me would have TOTALLY gone for this dress… love the mishmash of shiny sparkly sequinny things, the crazy loopy circles, the textural overload, the peacock-tail inspired uh, tail … the 30something me wouldn’t – it’s too young and experimental in spirit.

  15. JustBored says:

How old is she..That hair makes her look like Goldie Hawn.

  16. the original bellaluna says:

The top of that dress looks like something from Golden Girls.

And I cannot stand those bangs. On anyone.

  17. albeli says:

Yikes–hair and makeup BAD. She looked so much better ginger.

And yes, the dress is fug.

  18. Marissa says:

Now i understand why her career took off after she became a red head. She looks down right basic as a blonde.

Also she has lost a little to much weight.

  19. EdithP says:

I like the dress except for the odd flap in the back.

  20. xxodettexx says:

i actually like the dress but i love textures and colors [esp purples]

    miss the ginge

  21. Nikkers says:

I think I kinda love the dress if you take off the stupid tail (why does anyone continue to make mullet dresses?! Have they ever looked good?)

But the hair is a no.

  22. Marianne says:

She should have just kept it a mini. I don’t know why these mullet dresses are fashionable. And I’ve been getting used to Emma’s blonde hair, but I like better when she has it all back (like at the globes this year).

  23. Marie says:

I cant stand to look at her, she reminds me to much of Lohan.

  24. Jeri says:

I like her and she’s new at this, give her time. No need to “mean-girl” these young girls that are trying to navigate a world that is new to them.

People will still read you if you’re not so visious.

  25. Maritza says:

If the dress didn’t have the long train in the back it would better. I kind of like the bangs on her and the blonde is looking better now that I’m getting used to seeing her with it.

  26. TXCinderella says:

I’d like the dress if it didn’t have that thing dragging behind it. It’s cute as a short dress and party appropriate.

  27. Ron says:

You know, I can’t blame this one anyone but her. No mirror at home? Seriously, this get up made me launch the gay gasp of fashion horror.

  28. Katie says:

That is the worst I have ever seen her look. Emma, what happened?

  29. Camille says:

I hate her hair and the dress is fug. Poor thing missed the mark badly here.

  30. whybenice says:

I love the guy in the back of the third picture. Can’t tell whether he’s recoiling or just starting to laugh.

  31. Cheyenne says:

She’s “it”, all right, and not in a good way.

  32. Hakura says:

@The Original Bellaluna“The top of that dress looks like something from Golden Girls. And I cannot stand those bangs. On anyone.”

Great minds! That was my very first thought upon seeing this dress. Something Blanche would’ve worn from the waist down, & Rose would’ve worn from the waist up. xD

& yeah, not diggin’ the blonde & bangs.

  33. buzzaroo says:

Really cringe worthy bad, cant find anything that works here. Really dislike her hair the most though, bad colour and cut.

  34. Becky says:

She’s such a cute girl but this look just does not work. The bangs and the blonde hair do not look good on her and the dress is ugly. Hopefully the hair is for a role and she’ll go back to her natural color. I don’t get why these girls with naturally red hair dye it. Redheads almost always look better with their natural shade.

  35. i says:

She looks like Loni Anderson or that blond on Dynasty.
Emma should go back to red pronto!

  36. lucy2 says:

Oh dear. I just watched Easy A a while ago and she was so cute and pretty, but she looks terrible here.
Even if the blond is for a film role, I’d insist on a wig, because that look is bad!

  37. purplelove says:

Emma was on Chelsea Lately a few months ago – she said that her natural hair color is blond, but she dyed it red/brown for the film Easy A.

  38. Hakura says:

You’d think she would realize that if you have the right skin tone to look great as a redhead, you generally won’t be able to pull off a bright/light blonde very well. (Everyone can see Lindsay Lohan as a perfect example, there.)

The red hair makes her green eyes almost glow, so I hope she goes back to it.

  39. Lemon Drops says:

She looks 40 in the 2nd pic.

  40. gg says:

Love the beading and colors but that dress is horrible and she needs to stay away from short waisted styles.

The hair doesn’t look cut – it looks melted off and I would mistake her for one of Sheen’s tricks.
