Reese Witherspoon will grin and bear it to deal w/ Vince Vaughn on press tour

Reese Witherspoon has the reputation that she’s much like her perky character Tracy Flick in 1999’s thoroughly amusing Election. She’s determined, prepared, and no-nonsense and isn’t about to take crap from anyone. In fact she named her production company “Type A Films,” so it’s not like she’s trying to come off like she’s anything but a go-getter.

There have been several stories of Reese, 32, fighting on the set of her upcoming film, Four Christmases, with her co-star, comic Vince Vaughn. They’re even said to have called off a sex scene by mutual agreement because they can’t stand one another. Vaughn has denied having any kind of feud with Witherspoon, though, and told Parade that “We’ve been having a really good time. You predicted that the press would say that we were dating, but they went the other way and said we’re fighting.”

The 38 year-old actor known for his everyman personality and somewhat slovenly appearance has a pretty laid-back approach to work and was said to often improvise his lines to the annoyance of ever-prepared Reese. Now that the film is in the can and the two will have to do press tours together Reese isn’t looking forward to that either. She will deal with it like a professional with a perma-grin, though, and we wouldn’t expect anything less from Reese:

According to a friend, Reese is dreading the movie’s promotional tour with Vince, whom she describes as “the biggest child I’ve ever met!”

“Promoting a movie involves long hours, and she’ll have to spend a lot of time with someone who gets under her skin,” the pal tells OK!.

“Reese is professional — she’ll grit her teeth, fake a smile and pose for pictures — but she’s not looking forward to it.”

Reese has also asked her ex-hubby, Ryan Phillippe to care for their kids, Ava and Deacon so she can keep her cool with the other child in her life: her co-star.

Reports of tension emerged from their film set late last year with perfectionist Reese even speaking out about the freewheeling ad-libber.

“I said to him one day, ‘People can’t talk as fast as you think.’ You can’t keep up with him. But I feel like I’ve been in training — Vince Vaughn training!”

[From OK! Magazine]

Four Christmases will be out before the holidays and right before Thanksgiving, on November 26. It will surely benefit from the long weekend in the states after it’s released.

I saw the trailer, below, and laughed quite a few times. It really looks like a decent and funny film. If Reese and Vince really couldn’t stand one another maybe they channeled that for the fighting scenes.

This makes me love Reese even more – it cracks me up that she hates him so much. 😀

  2. Syko says:

She’s lucky her costar wasn’t Robin Williams.

I think she’s a snooty beyotch. Never have liked her. Just don’t think she’s all that. Or all that pretty. Too bad she’s got to deal with all that common behavior.

  3. Kaiser says:

Hey Syko, you know Reese is totally Team Jolie, right? Just saying, that only made me like her more.

  4. Syko says:

I can’t tell Angie who to hang out with. I just more or less don’t get it about Reese. I don’t think she’s a great actress, don’t think she’s pretty, and I can’t stand uptight prissy bitches.

That aside, I do admire how she and Ryan handled the divorce and the parenting after the divorce (although I would admire it more had Ryan moved in with ME instead of his younger girlfriend).

  5. Kaiser says:

I kind of meh about Reese’s acting chops – loved Legally Blonde, Walk the Line, some of her early films (ZOMG TRACEY FLICK). But I like that there’s someone like her in Hollywood – an uptight, prissy, Type-A Southern girl who doesn’t take crap from anyone. I get tired of the interchangeable Jennifers, Jessicas, etc. Reese is a nice break.

  6. Mark says:

Tough life those people have. Get paid millions of dollars to pretend. The worst thing they have to do is tolerate each other. I’d take it.

  7. Obvious says:

I love her. She is classy, but she knows how to hav fun and poke fun at herself.

And she seems like a great devoted mommy, evne with her and Ryan apart, I admire the way the both work together for their children.

However, Cruel Intentions is still my all time fav, I lvoe their chemistry in it. I miss the golden days of Reese and Ryan =(

  8. Linda says:

Ooooohhhhh – let’s all throw a big pity party because poor little old Reese has to do PR to promote her film that she made big bucks on with Vince. Poor Reese – she deserves so much better than that!

  9. jennifurrr says:

if you don’t like reese you should check out, “freeway” it’s my FAVORITE performance of hers… she’s younger and super cute and tough. it also has a bunch of awesome actors.

  10. Baholicious says:

Syko, I agree. I don’t get the appeal of Reese at all…Vince Vaughan looks like he breathes scotch.

  11. ff says:

They can deny a feud all they want. I really can’t see them warming to each other, their personalities seem at opposite extremes of the spectrum.

  12. Joana says:

God, you can smell the lack of chemistry between these two..
I don’t think I’ll be seeing this..I hate holiday films with a vengeance, and, seriously, the premise is they don’t know anything about one another? Gimme a break!

  13. daisy424 says:

I don’t see them having any on screen chemistry. Kind of like Anne Heche & Harrison Ford. 😐

  14. Jane says:

Reese never said she didn’t like working with him. And this is how rumours are started. 🙁

  15. Anna says:

Poor Reese, I would hate to be in her shoes for that promo tour. I can’t stand Vince Vaughn on camera, that slouchy, always-the-same-acting, self-satisfied air he’s got about him. I haven’t seen one film in which I liked him and I see a hell of a lot of movies. He strikes me as the kind of actor who is really only ever playing himself, so it’s not a surprise to me he didn’t click with Reese.
As for the whole “we thought they would write we’re dating” thing? You wish Vince, you wish.
But Reese is indeed a pro, she’ll get this done as well and she’ll know never to make another movie with him again.
Nothing against a little impro though, maybe she should work on that.

  16. Mme X says:

I think she does comedy best. Ex: “Legally Blonde,” “Election.”

  17. MB Travis says:

Syko, why do you think Reese is an “uptight, prissy bitch”? I mean, I guess that’s kind of a stupid question; there’s definitely been some coverage that chooses to portray her as a Southern priss, but she’s always come off to me as a savvy businesswoman with a lusty attitude to life (have you ever read her description of when she met Ryan Phillipe? — mrrrooow!!). She’s not the best actress, I agree, but I find her to be a strong woman who goes after what she wants and handles obstacles with poise and humor — that’s always admirable in my book.

  18. Pirogue says:

“She’ll grit her teeth, fake a smile and get through it”… You mean like she does with Jake Gyllenhaal?

  19. Jag says:

@ Pirogue – lol hit the nail on the head with that one…

Can’t stand Vince Vaughn, so won’t be seeing this. The only movie he was ever good in, imo, was Dodgeball, and that’s because it was an ensemble cast.

  20. AC says:

left me in the jump a jump TO DIE.

great line delivery on that one. lol

  21. RAN says:

You have to admit his was hilarious in Wedding Crashers though! (Vince Vaughn of course 😉 )

  22. vdantev says:

Women have a thing for flabby, shapeless, wrinkly men who look like they never sleep and were deprived of oxygen in the womb.

  23. Jenene says:

I had a few lines in the wedding crashers and on a break I was talking to Owen and Vince interrupted and tried to pick me up and when I rejected him he banished me from his site and had the production assistants make an announcement that none of us “peasants” are aloud to approach or talk to him or Owen. He was so childish and rude just like the characters he plays and Owen was a whinny little bitch who followed Vince around like a puppy.
