18 year-old Disney singer and Justin Bieber girlfriend, Selena Gomez, was rushed to the emergency room on Thursday following a completely normal-seeming appearance on The Tonight Show. (You can watch her interview here.) Gomez’s symptoms are said to have been “nausea and a severe headache.” There was plenty of speculation that she might be pregnant considering the pretty obvious evidence that she’s kicking it with widdle Justin. Reports vary as to what sent her there, and it’s possible the emergency room people had no idea what was wrong with her other than her symptoms.
US Weekly reports that Selena stayed overnight for testing and that she was suspected of suffering from “food poisoning” and “exhaustion,” which makes sense. She’s due to start a 10 city tour on Monday, which was rescheduled from Friday. That sounds like a ton of stress. TMZ reports that Selena was undergoing tests for “blood pressure issues” but that “so far doctors have not been able to determine what is causing the problem.” Do they ever figure out why someone is sick in the emergency room? Unless they have some easy diagnosis, visible wounds or obvious trauma in my experience the answer is usually “no.”
According to TMZ, it’s “totally untrue” that Selena is pregnant. I hope that’s accurate and that she did just have a bad reaction to something. It seems possible that an 18 year-old who used to wear a purity ring might just forget to use protection, though. A lot of denial can happen when those purity pledges get broken.
Meanwhile Selena was seen outside a hospital in LA on Saturday. She looked tired and hopefully she’ll get some rest and feel better before she starts her tour.

Tragically disappointed she’s not up the duff, because that would have been EPIC, but hands up who’s actually met a regular person who’s ever had hospital treatment for “exhaustion”?
I thought that was code for an eating disorder, or drugs…

Interesting how my friend with three jobs manages to avoid hospitalization for exhaustion, but this chick can not.
Cosign with tapioca and morticians. I know single mothers who work 2 jobs/6 days a week, get barely 4 hours of sleep those nights, and never end up in the hospital bc of stress and exhaustion. Don’t get me wrong, the girl is cute, she’s certainly likeable, but she doesn’t know what a rough, exhausting life is.
Regular people work more than 8 hrs/day and usually pick up shift at home full time and I’m not even mentioning the person holding down two or more jobs. It is an exhausting life-style 24/0, but I have not heard of anyone being sent to hospital for exhaustion treatment…especially after a ‘vacation’ – just sayin’
I myself is in dire need of a vacation since I haven’t taken one in the past two years.
Wow. Food poisoning AND exhaustion. How convenient that she should have both well-used celebrity excuses for going to hospital, at the same time, and be able to kill to birds with one stone…so to speak.
I haven’t had a vacation in 20 years. I work six or seven days a week…and take care of a child with special needs 24/7. But I do eat three meals a day. Maybe she should try that?
Honestly, it sounds like she had a severe migraine. When I get one that’s beyond what I can treat at home (and I give myself shots!) I do, on rare occasion, have to go to the hospital. When the pain/nausea is that severe, your entire body becomes fatigued & sometimes they will admit you for further testing, especially if the headache is new/different than previous types of headaches. Whatever it is, I hope she feels better soon…she is one of the few teen stars I don’t get disgusted allowing my children to watch.
exhaustion, please! The only people I know who ever go to the hospital for exhaustion are folks from la-la land. what else could it be….?
Based on the limited information regarding what happened, it sounds like Migraine headaches.
WickedStepMom, that’s what I thought,too – migraine – when I first saw the headlines. I get the real ones, too, and also have to give myself those shots. If she does suffer from migraines I feel bad for her – mine came on in my mid teens.
I’m with WickedStappMom, my aunt and i have both been hospitalized with what we know of Selena’s symptoms. My aunt’s was migraine related, mine was stress related. it’s possible.
Well, she’s only 18 years old, has been working for years, and is in a serious relationship with a guy whose psycho fans threaten her life. Also she looks like she doesn’t eat. So exhaustion doesn’t sound that weird.
I don’t put anything pass any of these celebs–we may never know the truth of what it was.

They also mentioned she had blood pressure issues. When I have a migraine, my BP drops like a rock, and considering my BP is pretty low to begin with, that usually freaks out the docs. When my mom gets a migraine, her BP shoots up (as it does w/most people.) No matter what it was, I don’t get all the hate for Selena…did I miss her crack shenanigans, running down babies in strollers, punching people in the face, beating on cars w/umbrellas, or even dressing super-slutty?
It took the PR team 72 hours to address the pregnancy talk?! Glad they finally did.
Being out in the sun too much can give a person a migraine. I had that a few days ago. It HURT.
I don’t know why, but I really want Demi Lovato and Selena to both succeed and survive. I’m sure it’s got nothing to do with being charmed by their awful bubblegum movie, ‘Princess Protection Program.’ 😀

Yeah exhaustion my a**. Nowadays girls bang at a very young age anyways, and many of them get pregnant. So why not her? Because she’s famous? Bieber seems a naughty little boy.
Happened to catch her appearance on Leno, the day she ended up hospitalized. Seems like a sweet kid. Just another case of parents whoring their kid out, and Disney pimping them to the point of collapse. Just sad. Hopefully no permanent damage.
i think she has an eating diorter she said its cuz junk food but you cant have low bp and malnutrition from that its from not eating also shes probably lying so disney does get a bad rep demi lavato had an ed and shes not on the show anymore
