In Touch: Suri Cruise will make her film debut in ‘Rock of Ages’

I hope this story is true, but it looks like Tom Cruise’s people have already denied it. Still… that doesn’t mean much, and I think it’s perfectly possible that this is on. According to In Touch Weekly, Tom Cruise has made arrangements for his daughter Suri to take a small role (it might be a cameo) in the movie he’s currently filming, Rock of Ages. That’s the one where Tom is wearing his rock n’ roll high heels and he put something on his L. Ron happy trail to make the little hairs glisten (don’t ask). The crux of the story: Suri was the one to decide that she was ready to work in movies!

A star is born: Little Suri Cruise is getting ready to make her big-screen debut in her father Tom’s movie, Rock of Ages, and according to a family friend, she’s hoping it will launch her film career!

The 5-year-old looks up to her star parents, Tom and Katie Holmes, and she wants to be just like them.

“Even though she’s only a kid,” the friend explains, “Suri gets to make her own decisions, and this was one of them. Tom and Katie would never push her into doing something she doesn’t want to do.”

Or, it seems, stop her from doing something she already does! And although a rep denies the new role, anyone can tell that Suri knows how to work a camera!

[From In Touch Weekly, print edition]

Who is with me in thinking this story is completely believable? Tom and Katie treat Suri like she’s perfectly capable of making her own life and career choices, and if Suri wants to be in movies, then by Xenu, she’s going to be in movies. Plus, it’s not like she has some grueling schedule or anything. No school, no tutors, maybe she’ll have to push back some audits and barley-water appointments.

ITW also notes that “Suri’s role hasn’t been revealed.” If anything, I bet it’s just a little cameo.

    Lindsay Lohan 2?

History has shown time and again ,being a spoilt child actor hardly ever works out well in the end.

  2. katnip says:

Don’t know why it would be a big deal. TONS of actors/actresses have put their children in films whether it be a cameo or a speaking part. It has been going on for years. There are just too many examples to name.

so if she is in the film she joins a long line of other tots making their movie debut in Mommy or Daddy’s film. Not to mention all the Directors that have put their children or family in a film.

This is a non story either way. But I guess it is a big deal because it is the Cruises.

And on another note: tabloids need to stop writing about children.

  3. RocketMerry says:

@Katnip. It’ not just the tabloids speculating. The Cruises said in A LOT of interviews that they let Suri choose on anything, like she’s a grown-up with adul-like judgment skills. That is wrong on so many levels (and completely Scientolo-crazy). AND they so clearly play along on the media interest in Suri. In fact, I wouldn’t put it past them to put this particular story out.

On the “Suri:Actress” news: let’s wait and see. Maybe she has a talent.

I believe it but dont like it – she is not a small adult! She is a child who needs structure in her life and guidance from her parents and those around her – she is going to be a terror when she gets to her teens – her and the Brangelina kids are going to go absolutely wild and crazy in hollywood.

  5. anait says:

Out of topic, I know, but I think there’s too much interest in celebrities’ children. They aren’t actors, singers, musicians etc., but only children with famous (or infamous) parents. (“infamous” because they “use” their children to get attention, I can’t stand that)

  6. olcranky says:

anait: I firmly believe that many of these celebrity parents willingly push their children out to get this coverage as an extension of their brand, to gain/regain/maintain their own relevance as celebrities, etc.

  7. Lantana says:

What amazed me is that they actually had a blanket around the kid in one of the pictures.

  8. Dee Cee says:

Isn’t five school age? Or do just the adopted children go to school and not the blood line child?

  9. TO BE OR NOT TO..WHATEVS says:

AWWW SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE KATIE.

AND LOL @ THAT PIC OF TOM. I JUST CAN’T TAKE HIM SERIOUSLY ANYMORE.

  10. Kim says:

    Shouldnt she be in school?

  11. Bodhi says:

I don’t think that this particular story is that big of a deal. Shiloh was in Benjamin Button for about 2 seconds & that wasn’t a huge deal either

  12. Very Telling says:

@Dee Cee All the Cruise kids have been homeschooled. The older kids were taught by Tom’s sister @home. She lived with the family. To my knowledge they never attended regular school. Katie has mentioned Suri is homeschooled too

  13. Maritza says:

I’m sure she will be just like her mother’s own words, “magical”.

  14. gg says:

@ Lantana, they always carry her around in a blanket.

  15. Thea says:

Apparently we get to look forward to the Cruise common phrases if they are home schooled. “Over the moon”, Amazing! And why do they carry her everywhere? What is that about?

  16. Victoria says:

This girl was so beautiful when I fist saw her in the cover of People (I believe); she has gotten uglier over the years, and it is not so much because of her traits but because of the personality she shows in the pictures.
