Petra Ecclestone marries in a $6.5 million ceremony, ‘I’m not spoilt, I’m privileged’

Note: I’m not sure if this is Petra’s wedding gown or party gown. This is probably one of several.

Petra Ecclestone is a British heiress who puts Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian’s excesses to shame. She recently bought Candy Spellings insane estate, the largest mansion in L.A. County, for $85 million and will split her time between living there and in her 6-story $90 million home in London. Petra is all of 22 years old and is the daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone.

Petra just married in a lavish ceremony outside Rome at the same castle where Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise married. The bash is said to have cost her (daddy) $6.5 million and featured $6,500 bottles of wine (per bottle, not case), and performances by the Black Eyed Peas, Eric Clapton, Andrea Bocelli and a string section from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Over $150,000 worth of fireworks lit up the night sky during the party. It sounds like it cost much more than just $6.5 million. Guests included Duchess Fergie and her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, and Paris and Nicky Hilton.

Croatian English heiress and socialite, Petra Ecclestone, who recently dropped $85 million (!) on Candy Spelling’s mansion, swapped vows Saturday with businessman James Stunt in a lavish three-day affair right outside of Rome, according to People.

The 22-year-old daughter of billionaire Formula 1 racing CEO Bernie Ecclestone said I-do to Stunt at the castle where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes tied the knot in 2006 (Castello Orsini-Odescalchi), with the bride reportedly walking down the aisle in a custom $130,000 Vera Wang gown.

And then there was the reception, where Andrea Bocelli, Eric Clapton and the Black Eyed Peas put on a show for guests like Paris and Nicky Hilton, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson as they sipped Chateau Petrus wine (which retails for $6,500 a bottle).

A source tells E! that after the Black Eyed Peas performed, Fergie pulled bride Petra, Paris and Nicky Hilton up on stage to dance. After that, David Guetta deejayed for two hours, and the Hilton girls were reportedly loving all the attention from the billionaire dudes in attendance.

“No one had ever seen anything like it. Everything was done to perfection with no expense spared,” a source gushed to E! Online. “It was the wedding of the century fit for a princess!”

Prior to the big day, guests were treated to a pre-wedding dinner at uber-posh hotel Villa Aurelia, where they dined on caviar, calamari, spinach ravioli and lamb chops, sipped Cristal champagne and enjoyed a performance by Alicia Keys, according to the Daily Mirror.

“It was the most fantastic setting,” a party attendee told the Mirror. “Our menus were customized mirrors with our names etched into them. It was easily the most decadent pre-wedding dinner any of us had been to. Then Alicia came on and sang all of her hits. She began with ‘Empire State of Mind’ and everybody was singing along. We couldn’t believe it–it was magical.”

[From E! Online]

You can see photos of the guests here, on Radar and The Daily Mail. There’s also aphoto of Petra on her wedding day, but you can’t really see her $130,000 Vera Wang dress. (I’m not sure whether the header photo is of her actual wedding dress, or if that’s the party dress.) Her makeup looks as heavy-handed and cheap as it usually does.

While I was looking up background for this story, I came across this interview with Petra from late last month that I missed. She reminds me even more of Paris Hilton when she speaks, and it’s easy to see how she’s friends with Paris. It’s all about how hard she works and while I don’t doubt that she may show up at a job during the day, it’s clear she has no clue how she comes across.

When asked why she bought Candy’s house, Petra explained “I wanted to have an amazing home where hopefully in the future I will be raising a family.” On if it crossed her mind that she could have built affordable housing for 1,000 families instead of buying that home, she answered “I help as much as I can but at the end of the day, however much the house has costed, that’s not going to kind of I dunno, like change the world I don’t think…

I’m not going to not live in a certain way just because there are people less fortunate than I am.

In terms of her then-upcoming wedding, she described it as “as low key as I can be. I try.” She added “I’m not spoilt, I’m priviledged. I think that’s a huge difference.” Not to the rest of us looking in from the outside there’s not.

Regarding: “And this is Elisabetta Gregoraci. She’s “an Italian fashion model and TV personality”… I think what the writer meant was, “She’s losing her dress.”

  2. bite me says:

thats a hard looking 22 year old

  3. Cherry says:

‘I’m not spoilt, I’m priviledged’? Man, that’s the perfect title for her autobiography.
BTW, are we going to talk about how she not only manages to upstage anybody else’s wedding, but also anybody else’s skinnyness? My god, this chick makes Kate Middleton look like a porker.

  4. Whatamess! says:

    Her sister’s hot!

  5. Girafe99 says:

There are times I look at my parents and think you failed me, I could have been brought up in world where I had no responsibility and all the money I could ask for but no,I was brought up in a house with a good income, and values that include hard work and education and all that other boring crap!

  6. Darla says:

I find it really disturbing that idiots like this have this kind of money and act they way they do. Seriously, it’s “let them eat cake” crap like this that causes revolutions. She should try living like a low income family for one month to see how much difference that 65 million dollars could have done to change the world.

  7. the original bellaluna says:

    What. A. Spoit. Bitch.

Poor Lardassian, shown up again. First this, then Bey announcing her pregnancy at the VMA’s. So much for being “American royalty” I guess.

On to the important stuff: is this “new” Elisabetta in the running for George Clooney? (No having to remember a new name; she’s Italian; she’s brunette; she’s younger than he; she’s a “model”…the mind boggles!)

  8. L says:

Whoa Fergie needs to invest in some spanx. Stat.

And it’s nice to see Eugenie looking pretty and normal instead of how she normally dresses.

  9. Jade says:

I love Euro weddings, the Eurotrash is just too faaaabulous darlink!

  10. brin says:

@Darla…I agree, one more vapid biotch with mega bucks and tackiness wasting money that could be helping the less fortunate.

  11. sassenach says:

The chick is only 22 and an idiot. For sure this will not be her only marriage. She is too thin, bleached and hard and her husband is ugly.

  12. S says:

that was her dress for the rehearsal dinner

  13. teehee says:

I cant stand that royalty was there. As if being rich, entitles you to mingle among the uppest of up.
Or is that all that it is? Just money?
I guess so. At least for the most of them.
    Lame.

  14. Nanea says:

Elisabetta Gregoraci is married to Flavio Briatore, dad of Heidi Klum’s Leni, also one of those corrupt Formula One Team owners.

I’m not saying everyone at F1 is corrupt, but Ecclestone and Briatore are, and there are investigations into their business practices. I wonder if Petra will help her dad out if he has to pay up.

Edited to add: I wonder how much Fergie was paid to show up.

  15. anait says:

    @Lynnie
    @The Original Bellaluna

Elisabetta Gregoraci… well I don’t consider her a model, she didn’t work that much as a model. Calling her “TV personality” makes me laugh. She tried to work in some tv shows, but she failed maybe because she lacks “personality”.
She is famous because she succeded in marrying Flavio Briatore, who is stinky rich, which I think it is his major charm. So Clooney runs no risks… why run after a man who doesn’t like to get married when you wear a wedding ring from another wealthy man?
    I’m a bad person… writing this things…

  16. the original bellaluna says:

Nanea – Well damn! There goes my Next Clooney Mistress theory.

  17. OMSS says:

Well, she is the daughter of Bernie Ecclestone. The man is notorious for making stupid comments. Other than that I do not have problem with her wealth, but for someone to sit and practically say ‘I am wealthy beyond belief and need and I am aware that people are dying because of the lack of it, but I don’t care’ gave me chills down my spin… I know this is something many of us do- block out the horrors of poverty present in the world (deliberately or not) and carry on as normal- and I am not saying we should be made to feel guilty everyday and give up everything we have, but what she said was disgusting. IDK, that’s just me.

  18. Scarlet Vixen says:

    @Girafe99: LoL–That was hilarious! 🙂

While this story does disgust me with the fact that some spoiled, apparently uneducated and talentless brat can afford such ridiculous excesses the pics really do show that money can buy you alot of things, but it sure as hell can’t buy class.

  19. Jen says:

WTF is up with that “TV personality”‘s earrings? It looks like she has some weird infection dangling from both ears.

  20. lucy2 says:

22? Ouch. Looks much older. Probably divorced by 25.
She seems shallow, stupid (friends with the Hiltons? Ew) and spoiled, and has done nothing to earn all that she has. People like that usually have no appreciation for anything.
The only good thing is that a moron like this will continue to blow through her money, and it will be good for the economy!

  21. Kat says:

Hush y’all. These are ‘job creators’. Now, bow down peon.

  22. Jo says:

Off topic, but I cant help but think Kim and Kris’ Italian trip was somehow with the intent of trying to get an invite to this wedding and festivities. I can just see Kris Jenner’s mind working and thinking of all the photo ops there. After all, if the Hilton girls were going, how could Kim be overlooked?
The white gown in the header photo is from the party the night before the wedding. Hello! magazine has a whole set of pictures, including one of David Arquette??!!? at the wedding, along with the Hiltons and Sarah Ferguson and her daughters.

  23. the original bellaluna says:

OMSS – It IS chilling. I mean, if we “little people” are willing to donate even $5 to those who are worse-off than we, what does that say about her?

Nothing good, that’s for damn sure!

  24. Judy says:

If she actually said, “not spoilt” instead of “not spoiled,” there’s something else she is NOT…and that is smart. Just like money can’t buy class, I guess it also can’t buy brains, although I’d think that someone with that much money might have a modicum of an education. PATHETIC.

  25. dorothy says:

Gotta tell you..with Africa suffering from it’s most brutal drought, Haiti still recovering from their disaster I find this story sickening. Tasteful is one thing, excess to the max is just tacky.

  26. whitedaisy says:

She could use the talents of a public relations person to help guide her in interviews that’s for sure.
But there will always be vapid unworthy people worth millions; all I can do is be the best example for my kids and loved ones I can be. I would much rather struggle financially with wisdom and compassion than be a Paris Hilton-type.

  27. constance says:

haha. “job creators” I agree, what a waste on the likes of the “Hilton sisters” and their ilk. I’m all for lavish weddings and lots of booze, but this chick has been making seriously fame-hoe moves to become somebody in American media.

Elisabetta must be a stage name meaning “cheap a$$ hoe” in Italia media. Those chichis are sagging out of your dress top, madame.

  28. Harley says:

No doubt she had the best education money could buy, and yet she still sounds like an uneducated moron; and I’m not even talking about what she said (which was so pithy, and nauseatingly selfish), but *how* she said it.

    Pendeja. Smh…

  29. oh dear says:

come on guys, wheres your empathy?

if you had grown up the way she has, youd be just as spoilt. her daddy is filthy rich. you gotta see everything in relation to what she/her daddy has got.

ie: his net worth is about 2.5 billion. so if you earn about 25 grand a year, her 85 million mansion would be equivalent to a 850 bucks house in our world, now thats what i call a bargain!

her wedding was 6.5 million, that would be about 65 bucks for your wedding lol come on guys, everything is relative! dont hate on the girl just because her parents brought her up this way, ie clueless with no empathy for the less “privileged”. at least shes made one lucky realtor really happy, especially in this economy.

    live and let live? 🙂

  30. Goofpuff says:

I don’t begrudge people enjoyment of their luxuries, but she is just effing stupid and spoiled. All the money in the world can’t buy her any elegance or class or tact. Her idea of low key is to become the new Paris/Kim celebutante star. The fact that she can’t even comprehend how 65 million can change people’s lives shows you how completely ridiculous she is.

  31. Lukie says:

6.5 million on a 22 year old’s wedding? Yea. Her parents MUST be rolling in it to waste all that money on a wedding that will probably be over in 5 years or less.

Because you know, that’s the difference between being “privileged” as opposed to just “spoilt”…

  32. Darla says:

    @ #29

Ummmm, nope, not feeling it. I just see that she could have employed 200 people for a year for what she spent on this wedding. She seesm to think that she was cosmically pre-ordained to be rich because of her transcendental beauty. I think the only worthwhile thing she will ever do for the rest of her life is maybe donate her organs. She’s too stupid to do much else.

  33. Jules says:

All of the money in the world won’t remove the fug.

  34. teehee says:

‘Live and let live’– I see your point, wholly. Yes we need to think fair and judge fair; but still, ethics and morals are money-less. Rich or poor people can have intelligence and a good heart, can be wise or self-aware, or mature and grounded.
When someone who has a lot of resources comes around and clearly hasnt spent much thought on developing themselves beyond their fake lashes and PR assistant, its annoying!
And yeah maybe we get jealous– these people wind up with the money and fame, (consider the orange things of jersey garbage beyond garbage shore) and people much mroe deserving and hard working dont.
its been said a million times, but I’ll say it again– somethign about our media culture just aint right.

  35. Nymeria says:

@ #32 (Darla? sorry, I can’t read your name) – You hit the nail on the head.

Iknow, it sucks to be a well adjusted person with a dream of one day being able to own your own place and not rely on your parents anymore.
But atlest i can dream of owning it she problebly HAVE TO buy everything she wants.

(if this post doesnt make sense its because i havent had any breakfast or lunch, just a cup of tea)

    Poor woman.

  37. Jen says:

This is a girl who get’s EVERYTHING she wants. I’ve heard of her long before she bought the Spelling house. She’s always used the “I’m not spoilt, I’m priviledged” line before when commenting about being able to pursue certain avenues of work that she’s unqualified for, fail, and then pursue another avenue she’s not qualified for either. People hire her (same goes for the sister) for the sake of her father. They’re willing to take the risk because they will be in the good graces of Bernie.

Bernie looked like he was beaming at his daughters wedding. He wants his kids to be happy.

I don’t agree with the “they could have spent the money better” talk. You shouldn’t count other people’s money.

  38. Madisyn says:

She’s friends with Parasite Hilton. Nuff said.

  39. Girafe99 says:

@Scarlet Vixen, this something which I always find intriguing about rich kids, this is someone who has had access to the best education that money could buy and yet she comes across as completely crass and infantile, does lots of money and a sense of entitlement stunt your personal growth as a human?

@werty I think I will be dreaming for a while but yeah it will be proud moment for me when I become a homeowner of my own back

  40. anonymoose says:

    Joke’s on them!

I long for the day when delusional self-serving idiots like the hiltons, kardashians, and this petra-kid find out that the public does NOT look up to, or envy, them after all.

How do they feel about being the laughing stock, and being seen as the fools they are with no taste, class, or personalities of value to humankind? Being publicly exposed, ridiculed, and shamed for what they believe is “privilege” and entitlement? HA! HA-HA! I, for one, am not having it.

Seeing the comments here, I am not laughing alone.

  41. k says:

that’s right, bitches. trickle-down theory is alive and well.

  42. bluhare says:

Who’s the tranny following her in the first photo?

#24 Judy: Spoilt is correct. Her father spoiled her, and she is now spoilt. Correct usage.

  43. anne_000 says:

@29 Oh Dear- The problem is that ur example can be turned around the other way too. What if it was $2.5T, then her mansion would be $850M & her wedding would have cost $65M.

either way, $85M & $6.5M is real money no matter how it’s spun.
    ***

To me, Petra looks like a skinnier version of Kendra (Hefner’s ex).

I wonder if Petra requested that in lieu of gifts, donations to charities are requested (unlike what Kim K. did).

  44. Stacia says:

“spoilt”…”costed” (don’t think she used the words in the correct context)

This idiot sounds so uneducated and comes across as condescending to those not as fortunate as her. This ‘biatch’ should have been educated. And if she was, I surely can not tell.

  45. Denise says:

If she is 22; I am still in the womb. BTW, Fergie looks like a hot mess…. I guess the tabloids that crowned her the duchess of pork have the last laugh.

  46. Kellie says:

Its not her fault-blame her parents, its their money. I just wonder how incredibly bored with life she will be by the time she’s 35.

  47. BRE says:

Man, where I grew up small town Kansas, spoiled was if your parents bought you Guess Jeans!

  48. april says:

Stacia – “spoilt” and “costed” are indeed words. They are in the dictionary. She went to expensive private schools so I imagine she speaks quite well. Also, the British use different English words than we are accustomed to. Typically the English abhor our grammar.

  49. Viv says:

She made sure she would get both “Fergies” at her party by getting the Back Eyed Peas, too. Priceless.

  50. BigHair&Pearls says:

All that money and no-one bothered to teach her that the past tense of cost is cost, NOT costed. Idiot.

  51. eternalcanadian says:

Wow, amazing there’s people like that in this world that could care less about helping out when there’s famine in Africa, homeless families in the USA, and orphans all over the world.

Can’t believe that spoiled child is only 22. She actually spent $85 million to buy the Spelling estate. And that makeup! Her makeup is so thick and heavy. Same with pretty much all the women that were at the wedding.

And Sarah, please invest in a few Spanx items.

  52. Sugar says:

Have you all watched Born Rich – the documentary made by the SC Johnson heir? You really should!!

  53. fizXgirl314 says:

costed? Really ya dumb f**k? costed is indeed a word but it’s not the past tense of cost…

  54. Nymeria says:

“Cost” is an irregular verb, and the correct past tense of it is “cost” when used in the context of “I had to pay X for this item.” However, if you are estimating the amount of money you will need to pay for an item, you can say, “This item costed X,” meaning “This item has been estimated to cost X.” Merriam-Webster states that “costed,” used in the second context, is correct, but there is debate in the higher echelons of grammar-dom as to whether or not Merriam-Webster should have vetted “costed” as correct in the context of “to estimate the cost of something.”

Anyway, Ecclestone seems to have used “costed” incorrectly.

Back to All Things Bright and Beautiful now. 🙂

  55. Dingles says:

    What a disgusting human being.

  56. eva says:

I do think that the 6.5 million wedding had to be a fantastic infusion of cash to the local economy. (I didn’t know if the others were being serious or sarcastic 🙂 But I really believe the locals benefited.

Obviously the large payment to Black eyed peas didn’t go immediately back into the economy…

However, there were probably tons of peasants employed for the big event, that probably lasted several days. They had to have employed tons of security, wait staff, valet staff, cleaning staff, catering, florists, liquor stores, chauffeurs, limos, hotels, etc etc.

I get that the wedding wasn’t quite as beneficial as a 6.5 million charity donation, but it is cash back in the local economy….and that there had to be some small business owners high fiving themselves/counting their money after working their butts off at the wedding.

This wasn’t a Kim Kardtrashin wedding where everything was donated.

  57. Flan says:

Not surprised she’s moving to L.A. ‘Job creators’….that is why tax-cuts are defended.

    What a fucking joke.

  58. UrFavoriteBartender says:

@ BellaLuna AMEN AMEN! I’m definitely on the opposite end of the spectrum from a billionaire but I still always give freely to those less fortunate. Having grown up mostly poor (and lived on the “streets” during my crazy drug days) I’m amazingly appreciative of all that i do have (and who I’ve become) and thank God for that. If i was born into wealth i don’t think I could ever comprehend the sheer luxury of a hot shower& a clean bed. I believe that people like Petra are poorer than all of us 🙁

  59. Nikki Girl says:

Gross. All of this is just gross. This woman, her attitude, her appearance, the other guests at the wedding… Puke. People like this make me sad for the world sometimes.

The only thing I like about this whole thing is that it upstages Kardashian’s wedding. This moron’s wedding makes Kardashian’s wedding look like a cheap little shindig for paupers, ha!…I hope she’s turning green with envy. (Evil grin spreads across face.)
