Alexander Skarsgard was on Jimmy Fallon last night, and he was awesome. The last time I saw him interviewed was on Regis & Kelly and he seemed kind of shy and reserved. Alex spoke in his Swedish accent for a little while instead of the practiced tones he uses as Eric on True Blood. It was really sexy. He told an awesome story about how his family will take his 82 year-old wheelchair-bound grandmother out for lunch and drinks every day at 1:00. You can see that above.
Alex is promoting Straw Dogs, and he’s also on the cover of Men’s Journal looking tortured and sporting some really terrible mushroom hair. Who thought it was a good idea to style his hair like that? He still looks hot though. In the interview, the 35 year-old jokes that he lost his virginity in 2008, and also says that he thinks every day about his five year winning streak as the sexiest man in Sweden. He’s funny and self deprecating, and I can’t help but love him more in every interview. Here’s more:
It’s hard be the star of a sexed-up series like True Blood and not be asked about your own sex life.
And yet, when Men’s Journal quizzes Alexander Skarsgard about when he lost his virginity, the October cover boy deadpans: “That was 2008, I think. Best eight seconds of my life.”
Though he’s been named Sweden’s Sexiest Man five times running, the 35-year-old doesn’t take the title too seriously. “Every single day, I wake up and look in the mirror and think, ‘Five times, mother–ker. Five times.'”
All kidding aside, the Straw Dogs star says he hopes to one day be recognized for his talents — and not just his model good looks.
“You tend to get a lot of offers that are, like, the hot guy,” Skarsgard tells Men’s Journal. “And those parts aren’t very fun. I hope there’s something more to me than my pecs.”

So if Straw Dogs is out this weekend, why haven’t we seen premiere photos yet? A lot of us are looking forward to the awkward embrace that’s probably going to happen on the red carpet between Alex and his co-star and ex girlfriend, Kate Bosworth. (He seems like the hugging type.) She’s moved on by now, of course, but that seems like a ploy to make Alex jealous. Is she going to bring her new piece to the premiere? That would be a transparent move.

I dont find him hot at all, but I do like him. There is just something not quite right about his face, I just cant put my finger on it.
He does seems like a nice guy though. I do enjoy him as Eric,I think he does a great job with some pretty poor scripts. I am wishing in the next season of True Blood he ditchs Sookies fairy vagina altogther. Eric is more interesting when he is stone cold, none of this twight bull for me.
I don’t think he’s hot–he’s one of those really good-looking people who also is interesting instead of bland, so I’m not sure why I don’t. But I think he’s a strong actor, and he sounds like he’s got a sense of perspective. That’s always nice, even if you’re not famous.

he’s really funny in person, I don’t watch True Blood, but from this interview, he’s nothing like I expected. Way more down to earth and really nice.
He’s not perfect looking and that’s part of why I find him so hot. Tall, funny and sharp. Yum!
Alex is interesting to American women because he is a foreigner and comes from Europe. If you actually listen to him and read his interviews, he doesn’t have a lot to offer and keeps repeating ad nauseam that he drinks a lot, loves Sweden, was in Marines because he wanted to do something different, wants to be taken seriously and hates that people know him as Eric and that guy from Lady Gaga’s video. And lion references for Eric. The only thing that makes him stand out is the height. Alex is doing OK as an actor but he’ll never be a leading man. His brother Gustaf is the one with the acting talent and incredible screen presence which unfortunately Alex doesn’t have.
He is mother- fing GORGEOUS. Love his personality. He is “sehr lecker”…. and Sweden is very very beautiful.
OH, and eff that bloody ridiculous nanny of his so-called-ex……… it is called an ex —– because you X them out. On to the next!

As (pre-amnesia) Eric Northman, he’s hot. As himself, he seems very sweet and good-natured. The combination is a killer.

Sometimes I think his acting could be better (ie: declaring his love for Sookie – although the two of them on the couch after his memory came back, I thought he did GREAT) – but sometimes he just looks so HOT.
I can see where his face is just ok, but then I see other pics where it’s like ‘good god’, he looks gorgeous.
Before TB, I’d see him on here and elsewhere and think ‘what is the big deal with this guy??’. But now I get it.
He was at his best in the HBO series “Generation Kill”. I like him in True Blood though. I was a foreign exchange student in Sweden and he is the epitome of a Swede. They are unassuming, attractive, smart, a bit reserved at first but friendly once you get to know them.
Karena, he doesn’t ‘seem’ so, odds are that he is. Just try and watch the GKill with commentary. The banter between him and some fellow actors I equally admire just melts my heart and then sets it on fire. Enjoy!
This is a guy who grew on me. I didn’t get much of the hype on him before, but now that I’ve read some of his interviews and learned more about him, I think he seems sweet and fun. I really don’t get what the heck he saw on Bosworth, though.

That’s not his Swedish accent, it’s sort of a parody of a Swedish accent. What was left of his accent got whittled away for GK, and he still has remnant of the accent for Straw Dogs.

I don’t find him that handsome, in fact I think he’s quite goofy looking – but I agree he’s got that certain something. It’s like he’s got a whole lot of facial features that shouldn’t work, especially not together, but somehow really do. There are some people who are the opposite – “technically” perfect looks but somehow they’re just bland.
And he’s not THAT blonde, lol.
