The only people I recognized from last night’s LA premiere of Footloose were Julianne Hough and Andie MacDowell. The dude who got the Kevin Bacon role in this completely unnecessary remake is Kenny Wormald, a name that I’m sure you’ll forget in two seconds. I included a photo of Kenny (who?) too, but I still wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a lineup. Anyway, let’s talk about Julianne Hough’s hot pants/shorts. On Beyonce, they would be hot pants. On Julianne, they’re just shorts. I generally don’t think “fancy” shorts are a good idea, especially for a red carpet situation. I just don’t think shorts can be “dressed up” or made into red carpet fashion. That being said, I don’t hate this Tibi outfit on Julianne. She’s 23 years old, and shorts with the long-sleeved thing (is this a onesie?)… it’s kind of cute and youthful. The color is great on her too.
She left her character’s signature red cowboy boots at home, but the star of Footloose still rocked the standout color at the movie’s premiere in Los Angeles on Monday Night.
Julianne Hough posed for pics in a red organza top and matching high-waisted shorts by Tibi. The 23-year-old dancer and actress wore her hair in side-swept waves and kept her accessories to a minimum.
When Hough was asked about the clothing she wears in the remake of the 1984 classic, she told Us Weekly, “The boots were the best part. I loved the red boots more than anything! And I wore all Levi jeans. It was awesome!”

Julianne’s boyfriend Ryan Seacrest wasn’t there, I don’t think. I didn’t see any photos of him, so I guess she was flying solo last night. As I talked about last week, I’ve given up the hate on Julianne and Ryan. I now think they’re rather cute together, so it would have been nice to see them do another red carpet together. Perhaps Ryan was just being nice, though – if he did the red carpet, he would have been the biggest celebrity there, and he would have completely overshadowed poor Kenny (who?).
Also, Andie MacDowell wore ill-fitting red. I think she’s so pretty, but this dress does her no favors:

Don’t care for her outfit..after being bombarded w/ countless sneak peeks of the fim this weekend on Television my first reaction has been CONFIRMED, I WONT be watching this film. They split screened Kevin Bacon’s part ( where he was moving bags of feed) w/ Julianne’s (instead of the original Lori Singer) reaction to show the script was true to the original. PROVES to me that the industry lacks imagination by ALL the remakes they are or have been doing of classics that should be left as they were. In no way do they hold a candle to the original films…
WOW do I want her legs. REALLY, really, really want her legs. The rest she can keep, but those quads, man — would KILL for those.
JH is gorgeous – her body is amazing – she could wear a lamp shade and it would look good. Now, the remaking of Footloose? That’s another story…

23??? From what I’ve seen of her (mainly Proactive commercials) I thought she was much older and these premiere photos don’t help.

I can’t decide on the outfit. I am not crazy about the neck of the blouse. But she is pretty and has great legs for shorts. Agree with you that it may not be red carpet worthy though.
Andie has aged well. She doesn’t appear to be botoxed within a inch of her life anyway.
I think my only question here would be; why are they still casting Andie McDowell in movies? She’s horrrrrible…
I’m not crazy about the “formal shorts” either & linen isn’t a good idea either when you know your picture is being taken– look at the wrinkles already just from her sitting down in the car. But the color is nice.
JH is gorgeous…why can I just simply not stand this woman and everytime I see her do an ad for ProActiv and say, “Hey guys, it’s Julianne Hough…,” I just CRINGE.
The real tragedy here is that Andie McDowell and Dennis Quaid are in this cluster f$%& of a movie.
