Jessica Simpson in red Donna Karan at a NYC event: lovely and glowing?

Aw, these are cute photos. Jessica Simpson and her K-Fed, Eric Johnson, walked the nonexistent carpet last night for the Footwear News Achievement Awards at the Museum of Modern Art, an event which honors “top shoe designers, fashion brands, style stars, leading retailers, and industry icons.” Which includes Jessica, I’m assuming, because she designs a line of footwear which sells very well.

Anyway, Jessica wore this rather stunning red Donna Karan dress which… I LOVE. I love it on Jessica. I love the dress on its own too. I wonder if this was intended as a maternity dress or if Donna Karan refigured it for preggos. Honestly, I would love to own this dress, I like it so much. Farty looks really happy, doesn’t she? She’s “glowing” – although I’m sure Jessica would say that it’s just farty sweat. I hope she is genuinely happy. I hope her K-Fed doesn’t irritate her. I hope this is what they both want.

Oh, and thoughts about Jessica wearing heels while so, so preggo? She’s said before that she’ll probably give birth in Louboutins – her heel-wearing pregnancy is much more endearing than Beyonce’s, isn’t it?

She looks very happy! Nice to see her bump doesn’t go up and down. Just saw a pic on people of Beyonce and she looks way smaller than before. Scratching head………

  2. ella says:

Awe looks happy! But I always pictured her with Nick’s baby yet I’m can’t wait to see her baby

  3. Zigggy says:

    Awww. Great dress!!

  4. Marc says:

She looks like Kelly Osbourne – her face. Strange.

  5. Darlene says:

I really, really thought she’d be fatter than this. Pregnancy TOTALLY agrees with her.

    • Dani says:

Yeah. I thought she would blow up if she ever got pregnant. That’s why I had my doubts about her pregnancy until she confirmed it.

      • Original Tiffany says:

Me too, but she looks fantastic! I did see her old SNL episode last night and I could not believe it was her, she was so thin. She looked so great and wasn’t an apple shape at all. What a difference between that and the last few years.

Gorgeous pregnant lady:) Oh and Vince Camuto “designs” all her shoes.

  6. Nev says:

    hope he doesn’t irritate her?

    hahahahahahahahahaha

    she’s pretty.

  7. lila says:

She looks happy and healthy. And I love her earrings!

  8. Tierra says:

She looks really cute in that dress. At least she has an actual baby in her belly and not a bunch of pillows.
Bey should take some notes so she can get her pillow sizes correct or at least consistent with the way a real pregnant woman’s belly is supposed to look.

  9. Bite me says:

    Jessica old great!

  10. Fabianne says:

She really looks great! Love her dress and shoes. And he looks good too. That second to last picture made me laugh. Not very flattering.

  11. Astrid says:

She looks wonderful and the dress is a very pretty color on her but needs a bit more give in the booty area. Her shoes don’t match the dress – odd shades.

    • Firecracker says:

That’s what I thought too, shoes don’t match the dress shade. She looks wonderful!

    • Mourning the Death of Music says:

The dress is stellar and the shoes are cute, but they simply don’t coordinate at all.

  12. I.want.shoes says:

She looks great in that dress! Shoe colour is not right though… but we’ll just stick with the positive.

  13. Jessica says:

God Bless Jessica Simpson!!! Love her!!

  14. Happymom says:

She looks lovely and so excited-but what is he wearing? That brown suit is hideous!

  15. t says:

She doesn’t design shoes and she wasn’t being honored for anything. Here is a list of the honorees…

    FNAA winners 2011:

    Lifetime Achievement: Manolo Blahnik

    Company: Steven Madden Ltd.

    Designer: Nicholas Kirkwood

    Retailers: HSN, Ron White Shoes

    Brands: Ugg, Vince Camuto

    Marketer: Adidas

Launches: B Brian Atwood, Rachel Zoe

Vivian Infantino Emerging Talent: Burak Uyan

Icon Award for Social Impact: Kenneth Cole

Hall of Fame: Patricia Field, Jim Tarica and Larry Tarica

Vince Camuto, one of the honorees, designs the shoes that he later brands “Jessica Simpson” because he owns the rights to her name. He was being honored for his own line of shoes.

    • JustBe says:

Thank you for pointing out the plain fact that Jessica Simpson is the name/face of a clothing line developed, designed and maintained by someone else!!

I don’t know why, but it annoys me to see people saying that JS is running a multi-million dollar empire when she doesn’t. There are women who are really running things associated with their names, she just isn’t one of them.

      • Beth says:

Then just go ahead and add Tory Burch & BCBG to the line of people that “don’t do anything” for their multi-million dollar empires because their brands are also associated with Camuto Group.

If anything, she was smart to consult with experts in the field to ensure that she’s not just building a crap brand on her name alone.

I just don’t get why people gripe about this girl so much. She’s harmless.

      • t says:

Beth, you are right. Masters of their empires and owners of their own names, CEO Max Azira (BCBG) and CEO Tory Burch consulted with Camuto to design the shoes for their lines.

But Jessica Simpson did not consult with anyone to build an empire. She is not the master of any empire and does not even own the rights to her own name. Vince Camuto is the master of the Jessica Simpson “empire” and owner of her farty name. He bought the master license to her name and now he owns her name and uses it as a brand on shoes he designs. He-not Jessica- also sells it to others to use as a brand. Jones of New York paid Camuto to brand the clothing they designed with the name Jessica Simpson. Parlux also paid him for the name to brand perfume.

Jessica Simpson does not “associate” with The Camuto Group. She is owned by it. The same way Disney owns the name Mickey Mouse. And Mickey Mouse doesn’t own or operate that empire either. But he is trotted out to events the same way Jessica is trotted out to department stores and events like this one by the Camuto Group.

  16. Eleonor says:

    She looks great!

  17. Quest says:

    She looks radiant.

  18. Franny says:

    BOOBS! they’re huge!

and she does kind of look like Kelly Osbourne here. Not in a bad way, because I think Kelly can be quite pretty sometimes

  19. Diana says:

Cute pics. She looks great pregnant.

  20. midnightmoon says:

The pick w/her hand on her belly makes her boobs look ginormous! And she dyed her hair (which looks really good for once) but I’m wondering what she’s THINKING putting her baybee at risk for a tiny little event like that! She does look great. I agree shoe color is a fail, but compared to the get-ups she wore before she got knocked up & was constantly drinking herself into oblivion, this is a knockout appearance! I hope I NEVER see her in cut-off jean shorts & spiky heels again!!! AND Global Warming & Banking Thievery go unnoticed :).

    • MsCatra says:

OMG! Who let her out of The Maternity Plastic Bubble?!?! <—-sarcasm

Sweet cheezits, you're allowed to dye your hair, although you shouldn't be allowed to wear those shoes with that awesome dress.

    • DesertRose says:

My doc said it was fine to bleach my hair as I sat crying with three inch long roots at 6 months pregnant. He also told me again and again, that besides the huge no-nos, like drugs, binge eating, tattoos, and extreme sports, there wasn’t much I couldn’t do. I was so upset at him for not telling me sooner that I could bleach my hair. As far as those heels, I’m thinking that with the platform they only amount to 3″ or so. She’s been walking on them for so long it doesn’t matter. I rode horses until I was 7 months pregnant, I only stopped cause it got to the point that with every bounce I’d pee a little. Good times.

      • Original Tiffany says:

Oh, you can dye your hair pregnant now. That was in the old days. Shoot, my doc gave me the go ahead to ride my horses up until the end, and when I went into premature labor at 8-9 months (not from the horses, from the 12 hour a day job) he told me to go home, lie in a tub and have one beer. I never had a pee problem, but about 8.5 months in I couldn’t balance myself on the horse and my Doc said off you go.

So Jess, you wear those shoes and dye your hair.
Dr. was more worried about me falling and hurting myself due to the relaxin and loosening of the muscles and pelvis, he said the baby was well protected. Both mine are fine, let’s leave pregnant women to make their own choices as long as they aren’t smoking crack, etc…

      • MsCatra says:

ITA it’s OK to wear heels (and I’m due around the same time as her, and am also all boobs and belly, lol), just not THOSE heels =)

  21. tiredofrumers says:

the shoes don’t match but the dress is great, love her hair, and she looks super happy. go jessica!

  22. Eileen says:

    she looks gorgeous!

  23. clare says:

Do I detect a stronger Jessica now that she’s pregnant? I hope she will become a “steel magnolia” with the birth of her child, and not let this K-fed hurt her!

  24. Cathy says:

I don’t know why but I just don’t like that dress, it seems to tight

    • ??? says:

Really? You don’t? Can’t imagine why it would look so tight?? Possibly because she’s preggo? Oh… no that’s not it… WTF?

      • Amy says:

“WTF?” Well, she could’ve gone up a size in the dress. It does look too tight, not just around her pregnant boobs and belly, but in the hips, thighs, and backside, too. The dress probably would’ve looked much nicer in a larger size — I can’t see past her panty line in that last photo.

(Also..I think those shoes are clashy and atrocious with this dress.)

  25. Jen says:

    Aw she looks happy!

  26. Stellax2 says:

I love her dress although I’m a bit biased as I’m partial to Karan’s clothes.

Simpson looks happy. I’m with clare, she does seem a bit stronger. I do not have children but I so know that a life altering event such as having a child can change a person’s views and priorities.

  27. Jules says:

She looks adorable, but the shoes don’t match and that is bothering me.

  28. Courtney says:

@MidnightMoon dying your hair doesn’t affect your unborn child children do your research before you sound like an idiot. some women like to wear tight things when their pregnant to show off their belly and Jessica obviously is one of those

    • Vesper says:

I guess it depends on who u get ur advice from and what ur standards are. Aveda salons (they are pretty much standardized from salon to salon) advise u not to get ur hair dyed in the first trimester, and their dyes are mostly organic. My family physician (who tries to incorporate orthomolecular treatment as much as possible), gave me the same advice.

      • anyhoo says:

You just said it, “in the first trimester.”

Which Jessica Simpson has clearly passed at this point.

  29. Laughing Librarian says:

    Happy couple! Good for them!
Kudos too to her Halloween “mummy” announcement. I don’t know who came up with it-Jessica herself?-but it was very clever.

  30. Cher says:

She def looks preggo. She looks so glowy and very happy too!

Im not sure about Bey, I mean my sis was so skinny her hipbones were jutting out sharply (she models so go figure) and she still had a flat tummy up to her 6th month. 7th-9th was a diff story. Just saying.

  31. ladybert62 says:

I dont like the dress but she does look good.

Also it looks like she has gained mucho weight all over her body and I feel for her when she has the baby and wants to lose the weight – that might be really hard for her.

But she looks healthy and happy.

  32. Cerulean says:

She looks so happy and healthy. I think this baby might just be the thing for her. I don’t like her but I’m glad to see her look good.

  33. shawna says:

If her dress had been longer I would have loved it a lot more but she does look very pretty.

  34. Jackson says:

She looks happy and adorable! And I will admit I thought she would balloon up while pregnant but she definitely has not done that. I will get on her a little bit for the shoes and the dress being close in color but not close enough to match. Either match them or choose a totally different color shoe.

  35. ama says:

I found her annoying before the whole pregnancy thing, but now I find her endearing and pretty damn cute. I truly think she’ll be a good mum.

  36. Turd Fergussen says:

I know I’ll sound like an asshole, but bad dress, bad fit, too short, horrible hair and shoes don’t match. Yuck. She looks way too styled. She’s prettier when she doesn’t try so hard.

  37. Tanjee says:

Jessica looks great and happy. But why throw in a reference about Bey? If you don’t like her you don’t like her but the constant derogatory remarks about her are starting to sound really petty and childish. I am not a fan(not my cup of tea) but even I am starting to think it needs to stop.

  38. Karen says:

Meh…can’t hate on this girl. Good luck to them both!

  39. gab says:

“her heel-wearing pregnancy is much more endearing than Beyonce’s, isn’t it?”

YES! She looks healthy and lovely in that beautiful red dress. I wish her happiness. She is dorky but seems sweet.

  40. Nibbi says:

she really does look good. super cute pregnant lady. it totally does agree with her.

  41. KsGirl says:

That’s either a seriously great pregnancy glow or great makeup or both. She looks faaab. And I’m laughing (with her, believe me, not at her) at the enormous boobage. That happens to us big boobed gals when pregnant. They go from big to planet-sized.

    So happy for her!

  42. Camille says:

I don’t care for this twit at all, but the dress is nice.

  43. BerMan says:

She looks lovely, happy, glowing and healthy. And that’s a good thing!

  44. NM9005 says:

Her hair looks really good, the dress is fab and the shoes are awesome too, it’s the person who wears all this that’s meh to me. Accomplished woman my black ass.
Her gigolo looks fine, how can he not be when he doesn’t have to do anything else?

  45. Nudgie says:

I think she looks happy. She’s one of those “celebrities” who is harmless and happened to luck into selling her name and image on a best selling line of clothing and accessories. More power to her.

What I don’t like is that other than being ‘ditzy’ for a few seasons on TV and getting divorced from the man who actually cared and loved her, she is an average, run-of-the-mill ‘performer.’

Hope the baby brings her down to earth and she dumps her manager-father and works on Family, not Fame.

  46. Seagulls says:

I am in awe of people who can walk in heels usually, let alone pregnant. I tripped three times in danskos.

    She looks so happy!

  47. Sophie says:

I wonder how much her glowing/healthy appearance has to do with her pregnancy and how much with the fact that she’s stopped drinking?

  48. marisa says:

I think that she looks great. Her fiance, on the other hand, looks like a used-car salesman in that suit.

  49. blasted1 says:

If I were Donna Karan, I’d sue for libel! Yeah, I’m the “bad guy” on this thread. She’s only half-way through this pregnancy?! She’s got fat creeping up her neck! What’s that got to do with pregnancy? “Glowing?!” Are you kidding me?! My neighbor is pregnant and she doewn’t look like she’s about to explode! I think Jessica Simpson looks awful!

    • Sara says:

Every woman has a different pregnancy. Weight gain, skin and hair appearance, and how a woman feels can all be totally different. Also each pregnancy can be different from the last.

There is really no ‘right’ way to look when you’re pregnant.

Also, even if she’s gained too much weight there isn’t anything she can do about it until the baby is born. You can’t go on a diet in the second or third trimester without harming the fetus.

  50. Isa says:

I hate the shoes because they’re so close to the same color of the dress.
I don’t like seeing pregnant women in heels, mainly because I think of my own feet and how they swelled. Seems like they’d be super uncomfortable. But I agree, I don’t mind her in heels as much as Bey. Mainly because Bey’s clothes are always so tight she reminds me of someone that’s been saren wrapped trying to keep from toppling over.

Jessica looks great. The dress is pretty. She cleans up nice and should do it more often…

  51. really says:

She is just a pleasure to see, when others such as beyonce are making a mockery out of pregnancy! I detest the way beyonce handles pregnancy …

with that said, Jessica not only looks LOVELY she is a breath of fresh air, she just looks like a wonderful mother!

    LOVE HER!

  52. The Other Katherine says:

Jess looks great and very healthy here, no swelling in her ankles at all that I can see. Agree with some other commenters that the dress would look better if she went up a size, but mainly it’s just nice to see her looking happy and sober. She looks like someone who has always wanted to be pregnant and is now enjoying the hell out of it. Good for her.
