Frances Bean Cobain’s rocker bf gushes about her: “we’re each other’s everything”

It was a little over two months ago that we heard that Frances Bean Cobain, the 19 year-old daughter of the late great Kurt Cobain and the still kicking and screaming Courtney Love, was engaged to a 26 year-old rocker named Isaiah Silva. At that time Isaiah and Frances had both changed their facebook statuses to “engaged” and there was talk about how Frances was going to marry a guy who was a lot like the father she lost when she was just a toddler. Well they’re not married yet, but Frances and Isaiah, a guitarist and singer for a band named The Rambles, are still going strong. Isaiah told People Magazine that he has a peaceful, contented life with Frances:

Though the couple went public with their engagement in October, little is known about the relationship between the daughter of the late grunge god Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean, and her fiancé, Isaiah Silva, frontman of rock band the Rambles.

“We’re each other’s everything,” Silva, 26, tells PEOPLE about Cobain, 19, and himself. “We’re homebodies. We don’t go out to clubs so you won’t find us stumbling out of them with Lindsay Lohan. We stay at home, read books and watch Arrested Development.”

Adds bandmate Mark Kuchel, “They’re quiet and shy. They’re a great couple. Frances comes to most of our shows that she can get into.”

One of the last was the band’s December set at the Viper Room, where Cobain and Silva were seen looking very loving and affectionate before and after the show.

“I love strong, opinionated, intelligent women,” says Silva, who spent the first 18 years of his life in the Fullerton Assembly of God group, a faction focused on strict Christian values and the second coming of Christ. “Women in the [group] were totally oppressed, but I am very pro-woman.”

Silva and his family severed ties with the group when he was 18. Despite Silva’s unconventional upbringing, he fought for his individuality when he gravitated toward punk music, learned to play the guitar with pals and “always had long hair and always dyed it.”

“I had to grow up much faster than I would have liked,” he adds. “I’ve been through a lot. But now, I’m totally happy.”

Catch the Rambles at SXSW in Texas in March and look out for their upcoming EP, recorded with producer Keith Stegall (Zac Brown Band).

That’s sweet, and I wish them well. It sounds like they have a similar rough childhood in commmon, too. Frances was shuffled around to different family members and is currently estranged from her mother. In late October Frances bought her first home, a relatively modest four bedroom in West Hollywood for $1.8 million. In 2010, when she turned 18, Frances came into her inheritance. She is entitled to 37% of the $450 million estate of her late father. Her take is estimated to be around $170 million. Even if that amount is overestimated, it’s impressive that she’s managed to stay so low-key.

I’m happy for her. I’m also glad that she’s pretty much trying to stay out of the spotlight and is not acting like a famewhore, unlike that mother of hers.

Which, I hope that Frances keeps herself far away from Courtney. I’m sure that Courtney is just itching to get her greedy hands on Frances’ inheritance.

Her boyfriend is pretty hot. I wish them the best.

    • Lucky Charm says:

I have to think that it’s because of her mother that she has chosen to live the quiet life. She seems so much more mature and grounded than Courtney. (Which is pretty sad when your teenage daughter is more of an adult than you are!)

In that top picture, she looks like Alyson Hannigan.

  2. Eleonor says:

Frances Bean is sort of a miracle, she grew up with the mother of all crackmothers, and she is capable of staying normal, and remaining low-key with all that money.

  3. LindyLou says:

I hope she gets a pre-nup. As much as this guys says how strongly he admires and adores her, she should still protect herself. But I honestly hope they are truly happy together.

  4. mln76 says:

Sometimes people with the most unstable childhoods end up the most normal fingers crossed that Frances Bean ends up OK.

  5. Spugz says:

    oh …. hotty

  6. normades says:

That boy is adorable and seems to adore her for the right reasons.

  7. Hautie says:

He looks like Joe Dirt. Seriously. Have you seen that movie?

Thankfully she seems to be in a good place. And does not put up with the crazy.

  8. Elina says:

Shes cute, hes a total hottie, YAY for them!

  9. Tina says:

Is it me or does her bf look a lot like Kurt with brown hair. They are really cute together.

  10. Girl says:

Sounds like she may have a good chance at happiness. I hope so. But dude, loose the f’ing mullet. It isn’t ironic. It isn’t funny. It just looks stupid.

  11. poopie says:

I’m happy they are happy but seriously: A MODIFIED MULLET?
    and she is cute !

  12. TheOriginalKitten says:

He seems like a sweet guy. Personally, I think they’re WAY too young to get married but I’m rooting for ’em!

  13. Zelda says:

    Her fiance? I’d hit it.

  14. Shelly says:

Aww, to be that young again and so consumed with a lover……sigh. I miss those days. It’s so sweet.

  15. ahoyhoy says:

I too am proud of Frances for having such wisdom to estrange herself from her mother and try and have a normal life. I truly hope she stays completely away from hard drugs and protects her fortune well.
She’s one I’m really rooting for.

(And I love the dis of the Cracken’s lifestyle! lol!)

    • Ruby Red Lips says:

I totally wish Francis and her boyf well and hope they stay in love and together as they sound like they are perfectly suited and each others rock 🙂

Lol re the cracken ref, but can’t u see any minute now Linnocent threatening to sue him over ”ruining her good name’ by associating her with partying her arse of at niteclubs!!!

  16. Roma says:

Even if the relationship doesn’t stick isn’t it nice to think that she’s living a peaceful life? I was always fearful that she’d try to act out and rebel but a lot of children of addicts turn out to be fairly normal since they spend so much time trying to parent their parents.

  17. Mimi says:

She is a very beautiful girl. It really is amazing that she has so far been able to live a relatively quiet and peaceful life. But I have to agree that it would be in her own best interest to have her dude (who seems very sweet) sign one hell of a prenup.

  18. Tazina says:

I’m glad she is able to distance herself from that nutcase mother of hers. Imagine digging your greedy fingers into your daughter’s inheritance for your drug habit.

But she’s far too young to get married. And she most definitely needs a prenup.

  19. Jeannified says:

Her boyfriend looks like a brunette version of her dad!

    • Ruby Red Lips says:

Totally agree! Tho not in an odd way & I hope they last and are happy together 🙂

  20. danielle says:

    Wish them the best.

  21. Day says:

I hope to god she gets a pre nup. That’s not to say anything about him or their relationship, it is just a smart move. She has a lot of money to protect.

  22. JD says:

I’m depressed that she is old enough to to talking marriage, I remember when she was born.

    God, I’m getting old…

    And I miss Kurt Cobain!

  23. Dani says:

    He looks like her father.

  24. Quinn says:

For two people coming out of truly bizarre childhoods, they both seem remarkably adjusted and level-headed. Really nice interview, I hope it works out.

  25. she seems smart enough to get a prenup.

  26. Zoe says:

Know so many good decent people that came from really badly addicted homes with horrible parents. Know completely spoiled rotten people that came from great parents with good homes. In the end we still get to choose how we get to live our lives.Crossing my fingers for this girl and hope they’re married for a long, long time. Seems like she has found a nice & confident man.

  27. Ramie says:

beautiful couple! prenup & lose the mullet! best advice would be “don’t get married at all.” but I digress…

  28. whatevs says:

i don’t like frances anymore as she pulled a “don’t you know who i am?!” at an event and tried to not pay for her ticket, then at another event got annoyed by ali lohan getting in before her and wrote a really long gramatically horrendous letter to that nobody, and she got very annoying looking fish lips and pouted for a magazine while posing for self destructive photos. and not to forget she had a suicide themed bd party! anyway still frances was everybody’s baby and i hope she’ll be safely away from the clutches of her sociopathic mother. that she-pig would do anything for money.

  29. JD says:

I wonder why she only gets 37% of Kurt’s estate? Shouldn’t she get closer to half? Isn’t it split evenly between her and her mother?

    • Susan says:

JD, it just depends what was in Kurt Cobain’s will. In most states, children aren’t entitled to anything at all if the parent wants to cut them out of the will. It’s only if he died without a will, that the laws of intestate succession come into play and that is state by state dependent (most times its 50% spouse, 50% divided among all kids)

  30. CeeCee says:

she is lucky in a way Courtney was too cracked out to come up with the idea of pimping her into the spotlight to make her more money for crack and bad plastic surgery, and possibly Frances going down the a similar tragic path like her parents.

Lets hope she keeps it together and continues to live a quiet life.

  31. Lissa says:

I grew up attending an Assemblies of God church, so I doubt he had a “rough childhood” at all. Don’t know the specifics of the one he attended, but all the ones I’ve ever visited in TEXAS were normal churches with good people who were a bit stricter than your typical christian/baptist church. I don’t think they oppress women at all, in fact, my head pastor is a never-married, pastor’s daughter with a college degree and she’s been a great role model to all the women and girls in the church. Unless you want to reserve the right to slut it up and then try to act like a goody goody in church, there’s nothing cult-like or oppressive about it, they just don’t play that.

I’m willing to bet that he was a church musician who got busted having sex with a church girl and got reprimanded and probably removed from the music dept & mommy and daddy did not like anyone telling them their son wasn’t an angel and quit the church…I’ve seen it happen so many times. People don’t understand that being in the ministry requires a higher moral code and you can’t do whatever you want b/c you can damage the church’s reputation. Being a part of that is a choice, if you don’t like the rules…don’t participate.
