Elton John & David Furnish are really pissed off at Madonna’s Golden Globe win

Alright, as I’m sure you’ve already heard, Elton John and Madonna are back to bitch-fighting. I think they hated each other for several years, and then made up, but Madonna’s win at the Golden Globes just heated everything up all over again, and Elton’s husband David Furnish has even gotten into the mix. So… I’m going to do this in chronological order.

*Madonna, Elton John and Mary J. Blige were up against each other for “Best Song” at the Globes. When asked about Madonna’s chances on the Globes red carpet, Elton said Madge had “no f–king chance of winning.”

*Madonna wins Best Song. I’m just including video of the whole mess below – note the camera pan to Elton’s bitchface during Madge’s speech. Note Madge’s weird accent. Note how many times she uses “me, I, or my.”

*Elton was so obviously unhappy with the turn of events that Madonna had to take questions about Elton backstage, when she talked to the press. (Incidentally, Mary J. Blige was shooting eye-daggers at Madge too, but no one is discussing that). When asked about Elton, she said, “I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He’s been known to get mad at me so I don’t know. He’s brilliant and I adore him so he’ll win another award. I don’t feel bad!”

*Chronologically, David then went to the Globes after-parties with Elton, and David was telling every reporter he could find about his Madonna-hatred. He told Page Six, “I think it was a fluke . . . When this happens you have to question the integrity of the awards. Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed be a presenter? Can you sing Madonna’s song? Can you hum it? It’s a song nobody has heard, from a film few have seen. The award should have gone to Mary J. Blige or Elton. I like Madonna’s music, but not her movies. She should stick to what she is good at.” A source close to Madonna tells Page Six, “W.E. has not officially opened . . . so [it is] accurate that many people haven’t seen it yet. There was no deal made about an award for her attending.”

*David then went into a Facebook rant after the Globes. He wrote: “Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!! Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism… And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.” David was referring to Madge’s 20/20 interview, where she said Gaga was “reductive.”

So… that’s the bitch-fight. It seems like David is the one who is really pissed off, but you know Elton is the bitchy puppet-master. As for the legitimacy of Madonna’s win – look, it’s the Golden Globes. I just don’t believe any of the awards are really that scientific. And I have to say… even though Madonna’s victory and acceptance speech was really depressing, she’s the one acting like a professional. Elton and David are acting like gigantic babies.

I don’t see why they’re pissed off. Both songs suck: Elton’s and Madonna’s. The Globes, like the Oscars, is mostly about campaigning to win. The songs don’t have to be great. Personally, I think Mary J Blige should have won.
Elton has hated Madonna from way back, from the time he made the sarcastic aside (when she was married to Guy Ritchie) about her not performing live in concert.
But Elton’s face (after the announcement) was priceless. As for Furnish taking to Facebook, that was a low down bitch act that only indicates how vulgar Elton and Furnish are.
Her accent isn’t that weird, when you consider that she lived in England for a decade or so. She sounds much better now than how she sounded in the 90s.

    • Kimble says:

I am English and have lived in the US for 12 years – I still sound like I just stepped off the plane so why do these celebrities become “English”, complete with accent, after about two?

      • daisydoodle says:

Because, growing up in Detroit, it sounds “classy” and Madonna is a “classy broad”

      • Franny says:

I think its different for different people. I have friends who live in Austrlia and New Zealand for about 2 years, and they sound completely different now than they did when they lived in the States. Some people adapt to the language around them, and some don’t.

      • Bad Fairy says:

Has always been my question and I get trounced for it every time. Thanks for bringing it up. Everytime I hear Gillian Anderson I gag a little. Incidently, Matt Smith called her on it on the Graham Norton show. It was pretty fabulous. I’m not sure he meant to do it, but her face was priceless when she said “No I’m actually American” then miraculously, her Rs reappeared. John Barrowman is a really fun actor originally from Scotland who moved to the States as a young boy and now sounds more American than you or I. And yet he is back England, for more than a decade now. I think its safe to say that it is 99% percent pretense 99% of the time.
Also, love Elton’s music from the 70’s. He could do no wrong then. But after his previous writing partner left him he really started to suck. Now all the man can do is soundtracks. He was better before he had hair. Just my opinion

      • Theuth says:

Some people are just better than other in picking up accent, expecially if they live in some place for a long time, it’s a matter of ear.

      • Shaz says:

Some people do pick up accents faster, but she hasn’t, she just sounds like she’s trying to fake an English accent and doing it badly.

      • DrM says:

I’m a Canadian who has lived in Australia and New Zealand for more than a decade and my accent is a weird hybrid now as well. So I don’t blame Madge for her accent…

I did also think that she was really gracious about EJ…saying that she adored him and he’s brilliant…as much as I am not a fan of Madonna’s newer music and current personality (LOL) I do think that response was really well done and much preferable to EJ’s behaviour before the awards when asked about her chances of winning…acting like a big baby is right…

    • someone says:

I agree with what u said especially about the songs not being great! if anything Mary j should have one (in my opinion that was one powerful song to go along with a pretty powerful movie). but in terms of her stupid accent, my dad studied in England for 10 years and he doesn’t have a hint of an accent. maybe everyone is different or maybe Madonna is milking it and just being the insufferable narcissist that she is? (lol can u tell which side I’m leaning on?)

      • someone says:

won***** oh god hahah what a horrible error

      • Andie B says:

I believe she tried to acquire an English accent as quick as she could after moving there with Guy Ritchie. She felt it made her’posh’ or something, but has never quite perfected it.

    • bluhare says:

Losing your accent when you move has more to do with age than anything else. Children’s vocal systems are not mature; they lose their accent quickly (if you remember the Beckhams saying their boys sound American now). Adults not so much. You lose some, but not a lot. I moved to the US as a teenager, and have lost my accent but still retain some inflections that have people scratching their head as to where I’m from. My younger sister has no English at all left. My parents still sound very English, although going back to England the relatives say they sound “like Yanks”.

      • Gayle says:

Yes, I have seen this firsthand. But there is sometimes another factor also: I have a friend who has no ear for accents, and when she is in America she starts to sound more American, and when she is in England more English. It is because she can’t make out the subtle differences and just orally adapts to her environment. She studied French for ten years in school and cannot reproduce a decent “bonjour.” Her sense of music is also way off.

But as a musician Madonna cannot possibly suffer the same ‘problem’: she is just totally pretentious/embarrassing. Cosign @ Gillian A.

    • Shaz says:

Exactly!! These two are fighting, and it’s Mary J Blige who was stolen from…

  2. keri says:

Madonna’s speech reeked of narcissism, but after hearing Elton’s remark she said “may the best man win”. I guess she took the high road, and Elton is eating is words. Both songs sucked, and these aren’t awards on merit, but sportsmanship and manners were lost on Elton, a true bitchy queen.

  3. Anne says:

This is just too good. Long may they bitch at each other. Both are full of it and both seem oblivious to how ridiculous they look.

    • brin says:

lol…yeah, this is a win-win for us commoners!

      • DrM says:

Yup…particularly if, by some extreme act of God, Madge takes out the Oscar for this song…Elton John and David Furnish will spontaneously combust in a burst of glitter…LOL

  4. Girl says:

Haven’t heard either song (maybe the Gnomeo & Juliet one in passing because I have kids) and the Furnish’s may sound a little bit petulant but I’m still with them. Maybe David was several drinks ahead of Madonna that night? We all know she can and will bring the bitchiness just as much, if not more than anyone else.

    • ZenB!tch says:

I am not now, nor have I ever been a fan of Madonnas. I was a fan of Elton’s when I was a 5 year old in the 70s and I still love that stuff but Gnomeo and Juliet sucked all the way through.

  5. paola says:

Sorry but i liked the song… and i didn’t like Elton’s. Now.. i can’t decide whcich is the priceless face between queen latifha’s bitch face or elton’s bitchy bitchy face!!

  6. Ellle says:

I like her song and Sir Elton John and his husband are fat narzisstic selfish immature Assholes.

  7. jen says:

The bitter old queen act is not attractive-just be a gracious loser.

    • NancyMan says:

AMEN!!!!!!!!– coming from a sometimes petulant but never bitter old Queen.

    • bluhare says:

Agree. Good lord, it’s not like Elton John never won an award. And a Golden Globe? The same outfit which said Pia Zadora was best newcomer or something like that? I guess David was mad they wasted the money trying to buy the vote.

  8. Brittany says:

This is really off topic, but I was just thinking about how selfish and narcissistic Madonna seems and how that translates into motherhood… As the child of a mother like her, I can’t help but wonder how their relationship will be when she gets older….

    • someone says:

ooohh she probably Hates her daughter already– Lourdes is young and naturally gorgeous! since Madonna can’t accept the aging process she is probably extremely competitive with her daughter

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

You make a very good point, this is not a healthy role model, aging is healthy and a good thing compared to the alternative. Emma Thompson is beautiful with wrinkles and without over the top narcissism.

    • MaiGirl says:

Having grown up with a narcissistic mother, I can tell you that it ain’t going to be pretty. It may not even be competitiveness, but enmeshment. My mother could never understand that I was a different, separate person who had totally different beliefs, opinions, needs, etc. To her, when I differed from what she would do, or disagreed, I was just wrong or strange. Might explain why I don’t talk to her anymore! I pray for Lourdes and hope that she is a mentally strong young lady.

  9. po says:

I haven’t read that much about Elton recently and now I’ve read about him for 2 days in a row. I think that the point of all of this ridiculousness.

  10. hattie says:

    Advantage Madonna.

  11. Dana M says:

    Madonna’s speech was very disappointing.

  12. NM9005 says:

    1. Are these all adults because it’s sounds like a playground fight in primary school!

    2. Madonna actually joked about Elton John’s dismissal of her winning an award when Daly confronted her with that on the RC. She was a good sport about it, they just took it way too serious. It’s the GG’s people, not the fracking Oscars!

    3. Madonna called Born This Way reductive, not Gaga herself. She actually had/has? love for her because she saw Gaga performing in Manhattan in the beginning of her career and found her captivating. I think it’s fair to say that Gaga jumped the shark. Madonna was being more than nice about Gaga’s copying.

    4. I actually heard the song. You can find it easily on Youtube. And while “Masterpiece” certainly isn’t a masterpiece, it’s a mediocre popsong that does get stuck in your head. Furnish is right however, the film isn’t even out yet properly but hey whatever helps to promote the film. When the Tourist got a nom, it was also undeserving. I would like to see another celeb going against JP. I guess it’s fun to hate/rag on Madge (definitely for EJ). GG is all about ratings and A-listers attending. Blame the system, not the people using it.

    5. I think Madonna is handling it quite well. She could use this to draw even more attention yet she stays surprisingly quiet. I guess she finds it funny that two grown men are foaming at the mouth and making fools of themselves without her even having to say anything.

    6. Ladies, talk about desperate, to rant over a GG win :)! How pathetic can you get?! They couldn’t hide their “I have poop on my upperlip” faces either during her win :D. Yes, also Blige and Queen Latifah showed their disdain too (stink eye alert) but at least they’re smart enough to not battle it out publically.

    • Tiegan says:

Completely agree with all of your points. Madonna is a tough old broad, but she handled this spat with much more class than she had to. She didn’t take the bait, which just makes Elton and his partner look even more vicious, petty and small. And I don’t think she cares what a couple of bitter queens think.

  13. Jayna says:

I love Madonna’s song and Mary J. Blige’s song and Elton’s was nice but sounded like a Beatle’s ripoff.

What old queens David and Elton are acting like. Embarrassing. Imagine if other actors were tweeting f off about other actors winning.

Secondly, Elton had a sour, glum look on his face the whole awards show, never laughing at any jokes.

Rock on, Madonna and Mary J. Bilge. Keep putting out music. Elton, get a new toupee.

    • Mssnarnd says:

Speaking of The Beatles . . . He looks like he’s trying to be one. His husband looks like Boy George.

    • LAK says:

CAn i just say something about point 4….regarding the fact that film isn’t out yet, the awards have deadlines such as a film only has to be out only in certain places by a certain time to qualify eg to qualify for oscars, film needs to be out in Los Angeles by 25th December. It doesn’t matter if it only appears in one cinema.

Also, WE [whichever version] has been doing the festival circuit since Venice, i think they took ‘scenes’ to Cannes, so the voters would have seen it, if not the general public.

All these are reasons why small arty films suddenly make the big awards when no one ie general public has seen them or is even aware they exist.

EDIT: Oops, meant this comment for NM9005 says @12

      • Nanea says:

WE was actually screened at the Berlin International Film Festival in February last year for the first time, for a chosen few, 200 people altogether. Since then it has been cut and re-cut for Cannes, Venice… WherEever

  14. waldemar says:

In all fairness, Elton has started this bitchfight way back and Madonna always has been gracious and kind in her responses (he is still on my christmas card list” is one example.) She is one class act in this. Elton and David have been drinking to much of the Gaga Kool-aid, me thinks.

And the song is fantastic, although I haven’t heard the others. Glad she won though, she deserves it. Can’t wait for the album.

  15. only1shmoo says:

Furnish’s comment was low-brow, but I dislike Madonna so much that I’ll forgive his faux-pas. Madge really is full of herself, and while she’s a great business woman, she is only mediocre (at best) as a singer and has had to rely on scandal to get noticed. She’s now ripping Lady Gaga to shreds because she provides fierce competition, and to be honest, she does Madonna’s job better than Madonna herself could have ever hoped to.

    • Jayna says:

Get real. Madonna has had a 30 year career because she has a great catalogue of music and a tremendous performer. Her scandalous behavior 20 something years ago isn’t what kept her on top all these years.

Ripping Gaga to shreads? When. She has been complemtary to Gaga. Said Iin an interview she was impressed with her, that she was fresh and ballsy. When asked about Borm This Way she answered truthfully just like everyone else has been saying for 8 months about it ripping off Express Yourself.

      • Minty says:

Oh please, that’s rich. Calling Lady Gaga reductive is the pot calling the kettle black. Express Yourself isn’t even original. The music of part of the chorus (Express yourself/You’ve got to make him/Express himself/Hey hey hey hey) was directly lifted from Respect Yourself by the Staples Singers. It’s funny how much Madonna stans will defend her “originality” when she has a history of stealing other people’s ideas, documented in news articles and in lawsuits.

She was sued for copyright infringement by the estate of photographer Guy Bourdin for blatantly ripping off his photos in her “Hollywood” video. She lost. Lebanese singer Fairuz sued Madonna for plagiarizing her famous 1962 hymn in Erotica. It was settled out of court, and the Erotica single and album are banned in Lebanon. Frozen and Ray Of Light album are banned in Belgium because Frozen ripped off part of a song written by Salvatore Acquaviva.

Lady Gaga’s song probably has the same chord progressions or whatever. She’s not original, either. She copied Roisin Murphy and Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons. The difference is that she is usually gracious enough to publicly credit some of her “influences”.

Madonna rarely gives proper credit to others. That’s why she’s often sued for copyright infringement, from sampling without getting permission. She pretends she came up with the ideas and knows many of her fans are ignorant of the less famous singers, dead actresses, and old films/photos from which she copies. They don’t know pop culture before 1984 and she relies on that.

    • leetruth says:

@only1shmoo, are you for real? Madonna is the total package and a true icon and legend. Furnish and Elton are just pathetic and crude.

  16. Str8Shooter says:

    Three BITCHY queens. Period.

Oh..and Elton has SUCKED ass since the 80s.

  17. Flan says:

Sounds like Elton is in middle school or something. Though no doubt some middle schoolers wouldn’t be so immature to show off their bad sportmanship.

Stupid skank eyes of certain others is at the same level. Grow up.

  18. kay says:

I lost all respect for Elton when he discussed Billy Joel publicly (drinking). Whatever the case may be, friends don’t diss each other in public.

so this comes as no surprise. overstepping seems to be the norm for this couple.

  19. Rhiley says:

Mary J. Blige is the real professional because she should’ve won. She will take home the Oscar, though.

  20. Kimble says:

Did anyone actually sit through the whole Madonna episode of Graham Norton on Saturday? I got about 15 minutes through it and couldn’t watch any more – she is a cringing embarrassment with her faux accent and narcissism!

First episode I have ever NOT watched!

    • Bad Fairy says:

I saw it. It was a yawn.

    • chakliuk says:

Kimble, I saw that show too and she was horrible! Did you see the part where she was so snotty and dismissive to the guys in the audience who made the madonnna dolls? They shouldn’t have wasted their time on her.

      • Andie B says:

They should have just given her a lovely bunch of Hydrangeas. Now that would have been funny!

    • Jayna says:

Loved it. If you don’t get Madonna’s dry humor you won’t enjoy her. She’s not a warm and fuzzy person in interviews, but she was actually good on his show. Rock on, Madonna.

  21. Dibba says:

As much as I hate to admit it, I am on Madonna’s side on this one. Elton has lost it.

  22. paola says:

I think Elton was on HER period! LmFAO!

  23. some bitch says:

Elton John seems to become bitchier and bitchier as time goes on. Not much worse than an angry old queen.

Madonna’s song is nothing special, but anything is better than Gag-gag.

  24. D says:

This is why you should think twice before trash-talking, lest you be made to eat your words later.

Elton started it. Madge finished it.

  25. Str8Shooter says:

Tantrums & Tiaras…pretty much sums up that bitter old queen.

  26. outofafrica says:

Did he need a golden globe door wedge that bad?

  27. Dibba says:

I thought her speech was okay, but my expectations were in the toilet anyway. I was glad to see that her faux British accent if fading.

  28. Diana Prince says:

Stereotypical cliche thy name is Elton John. David Furnish?..Hmmmm? and your claim to fame would be what? WTH does he know from merit? How many hit songs and bad movies does he have to his credit?

Love when “celebrities” get butt hurt real or imagined and insist on showing us the bruises.

  29. Luise says:

YOU GO MADONNA!!!! I LOVE YOU!

  30. lucy2 says:

Can’t stand Madonna either, but Elton and David are in the wrong here. You can be disappointed and whine and cry to your friends, but publicly? Be gracious.
If Madonna’s “criticism of Gaga makes her look desperate”…what does David’s criticism of Madonna make him look like?

  31. lisa says:

LMAO… wasn’t it just last week when they were speculating some Angelina and Madonna were going to have all this drama..

Of course nothing happened at all not one thing.

See real drama is way better then the made up crap.. Nobody saw this one at all. Barking up the wrong tree.

  32. Dog Obsessed Girl says:

The Golden Globes seem to have merit only if you win. If Elton had won, David Furnish would have been praising the HFPA for their vision. I’m a big supporter of my husband, but I don’t lift him up by trash talking someone down. Brat.

  33. Hope says:

“Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed be a presenter?” – Short answer, Yes – this is the Golden globes we’re talking about(the only awards show I believe that has awarded her ever for acting for goodness sakes!) But they know that the globes don’t carry with them much esteem; I think they’re mainly pissed off b/c they made the effort to show up, thinking they would get it.

  34. Victoria says:

To get a Golden Globe you only have to kiss up to 85 old men. Madonna should retire. She is self-important and David is right. Madonna knew she would win or why else go?

    • leetruth says:

@Victoria, all awards of positive recognition , has value. Madonna is an icon who does not need to kiss anybody for an award of excellence.

  35. Franny says:

so if the award doesn’t mean anything…why does he want it so bad?

you are elton john…no one likes you more/less because of a GG. seriously. calm it down sister.

  36. Tiffany says:

What is it about Madonna that no smidge of professionalism can be shown to her. Those were truly death stares when she won. I almost felt sorry for her, until she spoke.

  37. jc126 says:

Funny stuff. Team Elton here. Just on principle, the principle being that Madonna’s a beyotch.

  38. TeamElton says:

Team Elton now and always! Madonna is just so “reductive”……

  39. They all need to get over themselves. I’ve never seen so much self-involvement.

  40. Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

It seems that Madonna is trying to become Kate Winslet – that accent is over the top – also was she becoming British in 1997 Golden Globes as she has an odd accent while accepting her Evita award, and also features Nicole Kidman before all that surgery.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q0Gyyb76Gk

    • Lilyb says:

Wow-thanks for posting that! I can’t believe the changes in Nicole Kidman, although I know it’s 15 years on.

Re: Madonna, she at least seems a bit humble in that clip. I know she had just had Lourdes. What a big difference in ego!

  41. bluhare says:

I don’t know why people get so fired up on this stuff — including the Oscars. A bunch of pretentious people who think they’re better than us patting themselves on the back for playing pretend? It’s ludicrous.

  42. Jaded says:

Just goes to show that Madonna is almost universally despised by her peers in both the music and film industry, although I loathe saying she actually has peers in the film industry, more like “people she should look up to and emulate”. Even though she finally got a GG, she will never have the respect or admiration of the industry, they will always begrudge this.

    • Jayna says:

Madonna isn’t despised in the music industry. And Mary J. Bilge has stated before she wanted to work with Madonna. Cyndi Lauper praises her. U2. On and on. She has a specific genre and excels in pop.

    • Zvonk says:

Just because everyone wasn’t beaming a smile at Madonna, doesn’t mean they hate her.

  43. LeeLoo says:

I think David and Elton are wrong for acting like sore losers. However, David was right about how Madonna’s narcissism in her acceptance speech was embarassing. My dislike of Madonna is still there and my respect for Elton and David are still there. They obviously despise Madonna and who can blame them? They should have been more gracious about it but it doesn’t make the comments David and Elton have said wrong in any way.

    • Petunia says:

LeeLoo, I am no great fan of Madonna’s but Elton is forever saying bitchy things publicly to and about other people. He is the Bitch Queen. So it serves him right, IMHO, for having his bitchery handed right back to him in his face.

BTW, not meaning any disrespect to your opinion. I do think that Elton was a talented songwriter in the past and a great performer. Just not feeling warm and fuzzy over his perpetual public smackdown festivals.

      • LeeLoo says:

I understand, but I think the reason Elton says so many bitchy things is due to the fact that he does not like the way the music industry has changed and the persob who wins awards is not always the one deserving of the awards (it occasionally happened in the past but it just seems to happen a lot now). I think Elton has become bitter over these changes. What I am saying is Elton needs to be more gracious but at this point he hasn’t ever said anything I disagree with. I am merely pointing out the honesty in all of his bitchiness.

  44. Petunia says:

I liked Mary J. Blige’s song the most but LMAO over Madonna’s responses to Elton and Ricky. For all of Elton’s bitchery, Madonna still WON, ha ha ha.

  45. Spugz says:

What the helli swrong with her face! It looks like she’s mid stroke when she’s speaking!

  46. Beth says:

Shockingly, Madonna handled it pretty well. Elton John comes off sounding like a petulant jerk. I’ll bet he would freak if someone insulted him like that.

  47. Tweakspotter says:

Her fake accent is what was absurd. Mary J was robbed!

  48. Nev says:

    MADONNA IS NARCISSISTIC!!!!!

MOST POP STARS ARE!! (what is the shock here, really!!??)

    and her fans LOVE IT!!!!!

    ELTON SIT DOWN.

  49. Jackie says:

he is so jealous of her, he can’t hide it. she still makes hit music and he is left to make disney theme songs.

btw, i do think she can be insufferable, but elton is a mean child. he needs to grow up.

  50. DI says:

I personally don’t care who won that award, but I will say that Madonna shouldn’t have talked more about herself other than to say thanks for the SONG award. But then, no one else has talked about her for years so I guess she felt like she had to get it in there! Lookout for the SuperBowl – another Janet Jackson mishap in the works??????

    • Andie B says:

Well if I’m going to see Madonna flashing one of her boobies, I sure as hell won’t be watching!

  51. skuddles says:

Well Elton is the Queen of the Bitches (I mean this in the most complimentary way) so I say, sh*t all over her parade baby!! He may be out of line here but at the same time, it’s very refreshing to see a much more talented performer put MEdonna in her place.

  52. BELLA says:

MAMA MADONNA NEEDS SOME “PRESS” IN ANY WAY ,SHAPE , OR BIG MOUTH…. HER STAR
    IS DIMMING…………

  53. BELLA says:

OMG THAT FAKE ACCENT IS SOOOOOOOOOOO
    STUPID WHAT AN ASS

  54. UKHels says:

how can anyone take Elton seriously when he has that HAMSTER on his head???

  55. mariaj says:

Well, this time Madonna has acted more professionally, though is easier be ” professional” when you win.

Anyway, Madonna in that firs picture looks like the Saw mask!

  56. leetruth says:

Some people drank HATE wine from Elton’s table. Give it up already – he is not going to invite you lot to his boring black and white ball.

  57. Peg says:

“Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism… And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

    I couldn’t agree any more.

  58. Ron says:

Why even bother with such nasty comments over a crap movie like Gnomeo. If he has lost for Lion King I might understand a bit more. Elton and David, please handle yourselves like ladies in the future.

  59. Could this be the beginning of a new triangle??

  60. Sara says:

Elton just wishes he was as good as Madonna. I have enjoyed her music more than anyone else since 1984. Let’s just see if Gaga’s monsters display that kind of loyalty in 30 years.

  61. Lauren says:

I am sick of GAGA already. Madonna is a successful bitchy businesswoman. Elton is bloated & jealous. I have seen worse women at the local grocery store! And they are fugly, fat & poor. I think Madonna was very arrogant, perhaps to further Elton & Wifey’s rage. It worked, didn’t it. Elton looks like a winy old Queen.

  62. Lisa B. says:

I have nothing against Madonna but to put her in the same league with Elton is a bit of a stretch.

As a person, I agree that he can come across as very bitchy and even nasty.
But as an artist, he’s absolutely flawless. Have any of you guys actually listened to his discography, especially the early 70s stuff?

That is stuff of genius. Pure brilliance. This man shaped pop music and probably influenced Madonna herself, consciously or not.

Which is why I don’t understand why he was so pissed over losing this silly award. The Golden Globes are a big industry joke, everybody knows that they don’t mean anything.

I thought that after baby Zachary, Elton would mellow and learn to manage his anger better. But I guess old habits die hard.

    • Jayna says:

Even Madonna backstage called him a genius or brilliant. I have seen him in concert years ago and he blew me away. His output in later years as far ad music not so good. Though,I thought he was finally creative again making that album with that older singer who influenced him. But he has always been bitchy and petty. His song up for the award was no better than Madonna’s, and I preferred hers because it was a beautiful ballad. To carry on I just don’t get.

    • Andie B says:

I totally agree with everything you just said. Elton is a musical genius. Along with that he has always been very highly strung. At the age of 64 you would think he would tone done the beyatch in himself, but obviously that’s just how Reggie rolls.

  63. Kim says:

Sure Madonna is a narcassict but so is Elton! They are two peas in a pod and he is acting like a spoiled child.

Boo hoo i didnt win so i am going to rag on Madonna & the entire Golden Globes.

He is bashing everyone who won a Golden Globe by questioning their validity just because he didnt win. What an arrogant, immature, baby!

  64. The ORIGINAL Miami D. says:

    MY GOD SHE LOOKS 99

  65. I do not know if I was expecting something far worse given the hype, but for Madonna, that speak wasn’t THAT narcissistic…yes, she did essentially say, “wow, amazing I even got that little ol’ song out since I am SSSSSOOOOO busy with all of my other, fantastic, important projects-who knew I was so talented in so many ways????” But she did spend a lot of time thank others. I guess I have a pretty low bar for her in the narcissism department.

    • Jayna says:

In truth, I think she was trying to refer to the movie so much because it’s coming out soon and she has said she’s very nervous about it. So talking about it a lot up there was her way of promoing it, I think. She said she was glad the song was nominated because it brought attention to the movie.

  66. crtb says:

What a bunch of sore losers!

  67. Sunnyjyl says:

Elton John is cray cray. He has such bad manners. Very unseemly.

    • whatevs says:

elton john has always been one of those people who is friends with everyone. if even elton can’t stand you, that’s a telling thing about one’s personality. add to that madonna donned the gay rights supporter to her publicity, and he still can’t stand the woman. and he even worked with eminem. go figure.

  68. Kelly says:

What cry babies, they look so classless bringing it up like that. Cannot stand Mary J. Blige by the way ever since she acted so nasty to some of the contestants when she guest judged American Idol.

  69. Kosmos says:

Let’s face it, she is not that well liked for many good reasons. She’s not a nice person, for one thing. I have always disliked her music and do not find her to be very talented on the whole. Elton, on the other hand, is totally fantastic and she can’t touch him as far as talent. Maybe both songs were meh…but hands down, she cannot even come close to having his skill and talent. If she had been a better person throughout her narcissistic life, I’m sure we would have felt differently about her. Now, I say, just go away….

  70. Zoe says:

I was glad Madonna won, after hearing what Elton had said on the red carpet. What a terrible attitude, he and Furnish are acting like spoiled pompous entitled brats. That attitude isn’t becoming to an awards show nor is it a winning trait whatsoever. Regardless of the songs, it’s clear to see Madonna was the winner in the self respect category – I’m really proud of how she handled herself – she’s grown a lot. The should take a hint. To accuse her of narcissism when they are behaving that way is hypocritical to say the least. They should have written the song for the sake of making music, not expecting something for it. Grow up.

  71. whatevs says:

team elton obv. i was also unhappy the way she was thrown a bone. maybe she pulled some strings because you know her movie will not win anything at the oscars, not even costumes award. that song sucks, and the title is annoying, once again she is promoting it as her masterpiece, it’s all about madonna. can’t even do a movie without promoting her life and personality. also noticed how the leading actress has similar make up to what madonna usually wears and maybe studied her mannerisms too. and in the trailer you could see bits and pieces of scenes which were prolly meant to be throwbacks to mandonna’s videos.
