I was really happy to see Modern Family win best Comedy Ensemble at last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. They are one of the best ensembles on TV, and arguably the best comedic ensemble. Plus, it was nice to see the entire cast get awards, especially after the individual actors lost out. Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen might be competitive in real life, but I’d like to think that they are actually are professional friends/girlfriends too. I’d also like to think that they coordinated their colors last night, because Sofia’s shade of pink and Julie’s shade of purple looked really pretty together, and it would nice if they thought that out beforehand. Incidentially, I think Sofia is maybe helping Julie out stylistically? Because Julie looked GREAT last night, and she usually looks horrible at these awards shows.
So here’s Sofia in Marchesa. Yes, it’s Marchesa. Ugh. But! It wasn’t the worst, and it fit her like a glove. I didn’t care for the “architectural element” at the bust, though – if there was ever a woman who needed NOTHING extra at the bust, it’s Sofia Vergara. Still, she looked gorgeous. She knows it too. When Guiliana Rancic asked her what she would change on her body if given the chance, Sofia was stumped. Sofia’s red carpet interviews are the best, aren’t they? She said she wants people to pay more attention to her ass – as well we should!
Meanwhile, Julie Bowen’s dress was Temperley London. My thing with Julie is that she’s got that beautiful face that so many men love, but she’s a very slender, sinewy woman, and her figure doesn’t always look great in gowns and revealing dresses. She needs to find a way to make it all about her face while covering up everything that should be covered up, and I think this dress did that. She covered up her chest, which is a problem area for her, and showed off her slender, toned back. From the front, though, it was all about her face. And this is one of her best looks ever, I think.

Ugh! I don’t like Julie Bowen’s dress AT ALL! The giant box on the top makes her hips look SO unsubstantial and manly.
I like the dress from the back, but she can’t walk backwards down the red carpet.
I agree about Sophia’s dress, kill that giant piece of fabric that sticks out at her bust. It looks really strange and ruins the look.
100% agreed on Julie Bowen’s dress. She’s a beautiful woman, but from the front that dress makes her look like a linebacker.
Horrible dresses! Both dresses do nothing for them.
I like Sophia’s, except from certain angles the bust piece sticks out too much.
I don’t care for Julie’s, but agree it covered her up in the right spots.
SV’s dress looks fantastic on her – beautiful color and cut. I don’t like those big, stiff earrings. Nothing new look-wise, but a knock out nonetheless!
JB – I get what they were going for and it looks nice in some of the shots, but I think a lighter weight fabric (or just less fabric) would have been better bc she’s looks like she’s drowning in that a little. She is SO funny on Modern Family – love that show!

I think both colors are gorgeous, but really don’t like either dress other than that.
I love that she couldn’t find anything to change. A woman who loves her body as is, granted I would love my body alot more if it looked remotely like Sophias…
Sofia loves her body…it’s a pity she felt the need for those cheek implants, thou. In the second picture they look ready to explode.
I really like Julie Bowen, but I’m feeling like she has been looking unhealthy in the past year or two. I would love to see her put on 15 or 20 pounds, I think it would soften her look a bit.
I agree, she has become alarmingly skinny. That said, last night she looked good. Dress was OK, makeup was decent and for once her hair wasn’t awful.
As for Sophia, my favorite part of her look was that cuff bracelet…beautiful!
Well I love her or maybe I love the character she plays on Modern Family BUT I hate that dress, it looks horrible on her.
Julie Bowen is looking skinnier than Angelina Jolie these days! I do not think that is her natural weight. She’s always been skinny but she had some meat on her bones. I think the weight loss happened when she started on Modern Family. Maybe the fame and added pressure to look good all the time makes some women go to extremes to lose every morsel of fat on their bodies. I don’t get it. I think Bowen looks horrible at most of these awards shows because of her skeletal frame. An extra 15 pounds would probably do wonders. Her chest might fill out and her arms wouldn’t look so scary.

My guess is the reason she gets them filled is because she is a smoker and the lines on the upper lip show up in the early 40s around the time the lip injections started….
Julie finally got it right with this look and Sofia – good God that woman is THE SEX – love her!
Sophia’s face has looked jacked to me since she was pushed onto the scene with Modern Family. Especially her cheeks!! So obvious! Now her forehead is following suit. Its becoming more apparent as the lower half of her face + neck are ageing in comparison.
I dont know why she doesnt get called out for it on this website that is ultra critical of other stars. She’s Only worshipped here. Lame.
Beautiful dress, beautiful color. Great hair and makeup. Simple & fresh looking.
She has a great stylist who really knows how to dress her curvy body without making her look sleazy.
Sure a little botoxed and filled but EVERYONE is in Hollywood nowadays. She hasnt gone overboard a la Nicole Kidman or Kim Kartrashain.
I like the bottom half of her dress, the baggy top half is not doing her any favours…I must admit I do like the colour of the dress and her hair is nice!…Sofia looks amazing, not too keen on the earrings and hair…xx

Julie seems like a sweet and funny woman, I generally like her in interviews. I didn’t like her dress at all though, but the colour is nice.
And in contrast…Sofia, well I think she is a pretty lady with a great body, but whenever she comes on TV for an interview I have to put it on mute. Her personality/voice grates on my nerves, and well to be honest I just don’t care for her shtick. Sorry but I just don’t. I also get sick to death with her constant talk about her body/boobs. Talk about something else for cripes sake!

Sofia: Everything she wears fits her perfectly. I can’t think offhand of anyone else who wears such beautifully tailored outfits, except Cate Blanchette.
Bad dresses that happened to good people!
JB looks like she has tassels from my mother’s old drapes hanging off her shoulders, linebacker shoulders I might add.
SV is doing the same stick to her curves dress as usual but the weird construction in the boob area totally ruins the top of the dress.
Love both women on the show and think they are both lovely in their individual ways but these dresses are 0 for 2.
