Chris Brown stole a stranger’s phone, now faces possible arrest in Florida

OK, there’s a lot of crap that goes along with this story, so I’ll be covering it in convenient bullet points, hopefully in chronological order. The basic gist is that Chris Brown, who is still legally “on probation” from his plea of felony battery on Rihanna, is now being accused of stealing a woman’s phone. He allegedly stole the phone from a stranger after she snapped a few photos of him in Miami. Here’s what went down:

*The Florida State’s Attorney’s office began an investigation into Chris when a woman filed a police report claiming that Chris stole her cell phone. A spokesperson for the Miami Police Department released this statement: “An incident report was filed against Mr. Brown, and the Florida State Attorney’s Office will be issuing a warrant for his arrest this afternoon, I can’t tell you what time, but it will be today.” (That was yesterday.)

*The accuser’s name is Chrital Spann. She claims that she snapped a few photos of Chris as he sat in a Bentley outside of a nightclub in Miami, and when Chris saw her, “Brown allegedly snatched the phone” and he told Spann, “Bi*ch, you ain’t giving this to no website.”

*After the initial reports of an arrest warrant being issued, a spokesperson for the Florida State’s Attorney’s Office told Radar that the matter is still being investigated.

*Radar then reported that Chris’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has been in talks with the Florida State’s Attorney’s Office. A source tells Radar, “The moment Chris became aware that this woman filed a police report, he contacted Mark, who has been talking to the prosecutors in Florida for several days. Chris says he has nothing to hide and is hopeful that he won’t be charged with stealing the phone.”

*If Chris is arrested, it would affect his probation in California. Radar says “it could be extremely likely that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office will seek to revoke his probation for his no contest plea of battery.” Radar’s source says, “Chris wouldn’t need to be convicted in the Miami case, if he is charged. The conditions of his felony probation are very, very strict. Chris must obey all laws and not be arrested for any other crimes. This could be a huge nightmare for the singer’s probation if he is arrested and charged.”

*Radar then published a suspiciously pro-Brown piece this morning. Chris is “telling close friends and associates that he has done nothing wrong, and is hopeful that a decision not to prosecute him could be made as early as Friday,” according to Radar’s sources.

*Radar’s source (a source close to Chris) says: “Chris is hopeful that the evidence and the true facts of the case will result in no charges being made against him. Chris is letting his lawyer, Mark Geragos, deal with the Florida State’s Attorney’s Office. Chris is saying that a decision about whether or not charges will be filed against him could be decided and formally announced as early as Friday. He will do whatever his attorney asks him to do. He is no longer in the Miami, but if he needs to return for any reason, he certainly will. Chris has nothing to hide…. This could be a huge nightmare for his probation if he is arrested and charged. Make no mistake, Chris is taking this very seriously. He knows that one arrest could unleash a wave of new legal problems for him because he is still on felony probation.”

I mean… ugh. I believe this girl’s story, that she snapped a photo of Chris and he took her phone. Is this “proof” that Chris is a monster? No – we had that proof a long time ago. This is only proof that he’s just an entitled d-bag who simply doesn’t think through his actions. Maybe we should give Chris credit for not punching a woman as he stole her phone? Is that progress?

Oh, and considering that chair-throwing incident (destruction of property, hello?) didn’t affect his probation, I doubt this will either. California justice system, yo.

    PLEEEEAAASE send him to jail

  2. Petunia says:

Oh, right, “jail.” This is California, no? The worst that he’ll get is a judge telling him, “You’re doing great, Chris, you didn’t punch her when you went for the phone!”

No way will this come to anything. If he could beat Rhianna so severely and walk away without jail time, what’s a stolen IPad?

    • brin says:

      Florida.

      • Petunia says:

Sorry, I was referring to California because he’s on probation there. And we all know how California rolls with celebs.

The Florida component should be interesting.

    • gillie says:

Florida’s not California; they don’t really take kindly to people thieving from others.

    • MW says:

The violation would go back to California. But It is not just celebs here. There is “prison overcrowding” so the law was changed and unless you do something so reprehensible that it can’t be ignored, like murder, you probably won’t get prison time. They just stick you in the county jail to do the time. I do not know what the new rule is for county time, but it used to be any time you got under a year was county time. Over a year you go to prison. So if that is still true, no matter what the crime, you pretty much go to county and that would have, in the past, meant somewhere between 5 minutes to a year. Will somebody clarify if you know this new law, just out of curiosity?

      • Petunia says:

Well, county jail is still a confinement, so confining people who’ve done really bad things (short of murder) works for me. What doesn’t work for me is the 1/2 a day confinement. Why bother wasting taxpayer money like that?

I wonder why CA has so many more prisoners than other states?

        Thanks for the info!

      • Shannon says:

County jail is considered worse than prison to most convicts, actually. There are people detoxing from drugs, mentally unstable people off their meds, violent offenders and nonviolent are kept in the same facilities, the high turnover rate means it’s hard to make friendly alliances and people in warring street gangs have to share cells (or dorms). So don’t think that jail is any better than prison. Of course, celebs are not put in general pop anyway, so unfortunately Chris will get special treatment regardless.

  3. DohUhoh says:

So let me understand this she had her phone stolen in her presence well over a week to two weeks ago and she waited until this week to file a police report?

I’m not a fan of Chris Brown or his music but this seems like the so-called victim is not being truthful. All iPhones have GPS trackers/locators on them, did she activate the tracker service to find out where her phone is now? When did she activate it and where is said iPhone now? I notice none of these questions are answered. I suspect that ultimately no charges will be filed against Brown but will be filed against the so-called victim for filing a false police report.

I bet he took it out of her hand or she handed it to him so that they could take a photo together and he chucked the phone in the trash. She was offended and pissed and came up with this tale. That sounds far more likely.

    • KC says:

First off, this happened THIS SUNDAY.

Second, even if he did what you said, that is still breaking the law! An iPhone is a $750 piece of equipment. You are not allowed to destroy someone’s property or throw it in the trash, so I do not see your point.

Also, if he did take her phone (which I 100% believe because there have been rumors of this sort of thing happening through his bodyguard), all he has to do is turn the phone off and you cannot track your phone; you need a signal.

And lastly, she was probably waiting for some kind of communication with him. Maybe she contacted someone on his management team, and when they did not come forward with the phone, she pressed charges. he’s scum and clearly deserves to be put in jail.

I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL SOME BIG ASS FELON DECIDES TO TREAT HIM THE WAY HE TREATED RHIANNA; MAYBE THEY CAN GET CREATIVE IN THEIR TORTURING.

      • DohUhoh says:

        $750 for an iPhone?
Where do you live cause in San Francisco an iPhone will cost you $300 without phone service and less if its purchased with phone service.

Anyway, I READ THE WRONG ARTICLE. So I was wrong in what I stated. I bet neither of you whack chicks could freely admit you made an error could you? Don’t think so.

So rather than you losing you underpants over me expressing an opinions based on the wrong info…put your drawers on and crawl back into the hovel.

Go about your business nothing to see here…

      • KC says:

First off,you get a discount when signing a contract. Second, I live in san francisco as well, and my bosses switched contracts and had to pay $850 for each new phone (4s). Oh, and I personally was going to have to pay $650 in June from the apple store (before the new phone even came out) unless I renewed my contract and I was up for an upgrade, so no idea what you’re talking about.

So, don’t know; maybe you buy refurbished phones, or get them on ebay, but an actual, new iPhone from apple, with a warranty and brand new is not $300. With the upgrade and renewal, I paid over $250, but that’s still grand larceny. Good try though.

And clearly, you are in the Chris Brown camp, as you made a mistake, and get angry at others for pointing out that you’re wrong. You’re ignorant and annoying and want to take it out on others, so good luck. Why don’t you worry about your own panties and I’ll worry about mine?

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

This is the police report, it clearly states 2/19/2012 @4AM.

        http://tmz.vo.llnwd.net/o28/newsdesk/tmz_documents/0223_CHRIS_BROWN.pdf

      • Flan says:

DohUhoh, are you admitting you made a mistake? It’s not very clear with all your accusing others of probably not admitting mistakes if they make some.

        What a mess.

    • PleaseICU says:

Huh? She didn’t wait. She called the cops immediately after it happened. That same night. The Miami-Dade police responded that night at 4:43am, listed it as a robbery in the police report and reported they would be investigating further.

What the cops have been doing since then is investigating the altercation–interviewing witnesses, looking for the phone, evidence, etc. Essentially gathering enough evidence to establish probable cause to get an arrest warrant. Then the district attorney’s office will decide whether to prosecute or not.

    • Girl says:

I must have missed that part. This incident happened a week or two ago then she reported it?

Edited: thanks for clearing that up. I guess it doesnt surprise me all that much that there are CB apologists who’d make up things like that.

I hope CB goes to the general population in jail. Even if it’s only a couple of hours.

      • PleaseICU says:

No, she reported it that night. Like very soon after it happened apparently. The cops responded to her call at 4:43am and told her they’d investigate further.

Seems like what the cops have been doing since that night is investigating and finding evidence to support an arrest warrant and possible prosecution.

  4. Riana says:

Funny how whenever he has these moments of rage and women it’s always based on interactions with women. He’s the typical abusive asshole (hope that doesn’t get me in trouble) who can only fight when the opponent is smaller and can’t control his anger.

Truth be told it seems like the state attorney is gunning for him, Rihanna was an unwilling to really work with them.

I’d be all too happy if he ended up in jail where he can be on the receiving end of Daddy issues and rage.

Prison inmates love ‘cake’ too Chris ;).

    • Naye in VA says:

cake cake cake. love it. lmao. i bet they do

    • Tiffany says:

SO TRUE! I often wonder about his GMA rampage. If the reporter had been a man, would he have gotten so violent and angry at the question (to the point that he threw a chair through the window)? Women tend to set him off.

      • the original bellaluna says:

No, he wouldn’t have. He’s got a hair-trigger when it comes to women, it seems.

He’d have managed to make light of it, like “You know how bitches are, dude” or something along those lines.

      • Karen says:

Women don’t “set him off”. Abusers want power over someone as they lack self confidence that comes with maturity and doing worth while projects. He assumes women are weaker and it’s the only way he can act “manly”. Only people he impresses are the looneys. Bet he never tries that crap with Michelle Rodrigues. Cowardly, little P-word.

      • Asiyah says:

Not defending him at all, because I hate this guy, but I think he picks on women and not men because his mother was in an abusive relationship. Instead of feeling sympathy, he resents her because he feels she let that happen to her? I don’t know, he just seems like the kind who believes victims put themselves in situations where they allow themselves to become victims. Sad.

    • Flan says:

Exactly. Rihanna is a little thing, who was conditioned to accept abuse. I bet he would not dare to get into a fight with a ghetto woman or a woman who has been in the military or a random sturdy German girl etc.

      They would whoop his ass.

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

I can’t say how much pleasure I would get from hearing that Chris Brown got his a$$ beat by a girl. I know it’s not right either way, but all I can say is…He started it! Now I’ll just get back to my 7th grade P.E. class… 😀

  5. Dani says:

If this wasn’t Chris Brown I don’t think it would be a huge deal….so I am not sure what to think. Should he be prosecuted for this to make up for everything else he has done? I dunno.

    • Nev says:

      word.

what he did was AWFUL…but this hounding of him is somewhat wrong.

he already went through the justice system….regardless if anyone thinks he got his “proper” sentence or not.

      • Petunia says:

Oddly enough, I don’t hear of other celebs stealing other people’s property – except Lindsay Lohan.

Chris Brown has shown over and over again what a horrible temper he has. It’s an ongoing issue, so yeah, it is relevant.

Plus stealing from someone else sukks. That IPhone was worth a lot of money.

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

This is a prosecutable offense because Chris is on probation, due to the Rihanna incident. He would serve time on violation of probation. Probation was the slap on the wrist, get out of jail free card the judge gave Chris because the beating was his first offense.

      • Flan says:

He would serve himself by leaving the US for a month or so. He clearly can’t handle all the attention without getting into scuffs and fights constantly.

      • janie says:

He isn’t through the justice system yet as he’s still on probation. All he had to do was not break any laws, and he couldn’t manage to do that.

    • KC says:

Actually, with the cost of an iPhone, this is grand larceny, so yeah. You can’t steal other people’s property. It should be a big deal that celebrities feel the right to take other’s things.

he deserves to be hounded until his ass is in priso, getting what’s coming to him.

And you clearly do not understand what probation means, as he has not finished his sentence, even though this happened three years ago. he is nowhere near done with the justice system. His sentence is still over his head, so his dumbass cannot break the law, without expecting his probation to be rescinded . I cannot believe this is coming out as him being a martyr. What is wrong with this world.

      • gg says:

It’s not the world that is messed up, it’s his idiot followers; none of which have enough wherewithall to see that following and defending an immature, cowardly, violent thug is uncool and will get you nowhere.

    • PleaseICU says:

He shouldn’t be prosecuted as a means of making up for his other violent acts that were either under-punished or not punished at all.

He should be punished for breaking the law that night by stealing a $750 piece of technology that didn’t belong to him.

Actions have consequences. He knows the terms of his probation. He knows that even a mere arrest can f*ck up the terms of his deal in California and land him in prison for four years. Rather than seek help to manage his anger so as to not end up in that position, he continues to disproportionately rage at things that don’t go his way and act as if he’s above it all and his actions should have no consequences.

      • Petunia says:

With all due respect, it’s nice to have ideals but in the real world people get really pissed when celebs walk away from trouble without any consequences. It’s sickening and wrong that he beat Rhianna to a pulp and isn’t doing jail time. Why should he get away with doing that when so many others get thrown in jail for it? Money shouldn’t buy justice.

      • Nev says:

        WORD.

I agree with everything you wrote.

      • IYQ says:

Why shouldn’t he be punished for this? If part of his orobatiin is that he should adhere to all laws, then his dumb a** shouldn’t even jay-walk. The fact that he behaves this way just shows his total lack of respect for the justice system. If his probation can be rescinded for doing this then PLEASE let it happen. He thinks he is above the law.
That would be the ultimate “f*ck off”

    • Buffy says:

Well, we were certainly happy when it happened to O.J., rightfully so I might add. Granted, Chris didn’t murder anyone, yet, but maybe this is exactly what needs to happen to him so he won’t. I am all for it. He is a pig. 🙁

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

The girl reported her iPhone at a value of $500. Florida law says that stolen property valued at over $300 is considered 3rd degree grand theft, and is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

California probation law says that if the person on probation commits a new crime, a judge will likely call for a probation revocation hearing, and issue an arrest warrant for that person.

Barring the machinations of Mark Geragos, this could be bad for Chris Brown. There’s a lot of wiggle room between law, and what a lawyer can plea for, it’ll be up to the judges. He could serve time for theft in Florida, and have his probation revoked in CA. If probation is revoked he’ll likely serve whatever time he would’ve served, without the original plea deal, for the beating of Rihanna.

This is what he gets for acting the way he does, and his stans did him no favors by making him think he’s above the law.

  6. Elizabeth says:

Oh, pleeeease let it happen. I would be so happy to see him in jail for this. But I think his high price lawyers will get him out of it – if he returns the phone and pays off the accuser (damages).

    • judyjudy says:

The only problem with him going to jail is we’ll have to hear him whine about it for the next five years and hear Team Breezy defend theft on the basis of his mad dance skillz.

  7. Relli says:

UGH, THAT FACE. EVERY TIME I SEE IT MAKES ME WANT TO VOMIT ALL OVER MYSELF/

    • Ron says:

I think the same thing! Everytime I see him pop up in a post I want to punch him in the face. Such a smug as*hole..and he got a Grammy????

    • beclove says:

      My thoughts as well.

    • novaraen says:

I totally feel the same. He needs that fat grin of his wiped completely off his face with a few solid punches in the munch. GAH…I would love to be the one to do it!

  8. Skins says:

Why is this dude so angry all the time? Getting as far as he has with as little real talent that he has should make him the happiest camper around. Instead the guy is always ready to snap at any moment. 5 years from now he will be an afterthought

    • Petunia says:

I’ve wondered that myself. I don’t know his background. Did he come from a family of violence?

Because he has everything anyone could ever want. So what makes him so mean and violent?

      • atorontogal says:

Yes he was brought up watching his father abuse his mother. I can see this guy going all OJ on his next victim which is why his being let off so lienently was so very wrong. He learned nothing and will do it again. Mark my words!

      • gillie says:

Know who else was raised in a violent home?

        Patrick Stewart.

He doesn’t, and never did, behave like this. He’s currently involved in a campaign to end violence against women and children. Domestic violence has been his pet cause for years.

CB’s background doesn’t doom him to a life of making stupid choices; his idiocy does.

      • Flan says:

Did not know that about Patrick Stewart.

        What a wonderful man!

      • Maripily says:

It’s a horrible cycle of abuse. He probably witnessed or experienced some form of abuse during his formative years, when he was small and helpless. He then learned that violence and anger are acceptable emotions during times of stress/vulnerability/helplessness or even mild irritation. Not defending him in the least, but I work in the mental health field, and I see this question posed all the time. The system does very little to rehabilitate abusive men, and the issue is largely swept under the rug. You don’t even have to be a celebrity like Chris Brown to get a slap on the wrist for hurting a woman…check out your local news and count how many domestic violence stories you’ll find. It’s scary.

    • Aida barr says:

Let’s go Florida he commuted a crime where is the warrant

  9. Riana says:

And sadly even beating for a woman’s face in you’d be surprised how light a sentence any man can get in any state as long as it’s his ‘first offense’.

Unless you kill someone our court system leans heavily towards ‘give them a second chance’ same with DUI’s.

    • Petunia says:

That is absolutely sickening and probably the reason why so many men end up killing their female SO’s. I hate this dynamic and it needs to stop. Kids don’t need to grow up thinking it’s okay to see daddy punching mommy, and society doesn’t need to keep pretending domestic violence is so minimally damaging. I’m not sure that locking these folks up is the answer but I’m not sure that anger management would work on someone unwilling to face his own wrongs. Maybe in-depth counseling, to figure out why he hates women so much.

PS: Same goes for women who beat up on their men.

      • Flan says:

        Exactly.

What makes it worse is the Grammys going out of their way to honor him. Some old shitheads telling all women “It doesn’t matter whether men beat on you, we don’t give a F***”

    • janie says:

It’s especially horrible because Rihanna had told police it wasn’t the first time this happened, and it’s still considered a “first offense.”

  10. Nev says:

why did’nt Miranda Lambert go all ape-shit on Mel Gibson publicly?

he hit a woman while she was holding a baby!!!!

never got charged or went to jail.

why aren’t people all on him?

    hmmmmmmm.
    just askin’

    • Riana says:

You’re going to go with Mel Gibson?

The dude who no one wants to associate with, who just lost his house and who’s Hollywood career is pretty much dead.

No one asked Gibson to get on stage and act a monologue after the whole mess with his ex-wife, Chris has been given multiple chances and screws them ALL up.

    • katielouisiana says:

I don’t think Mel Gibson sang two songs at the Grammy’s where Miranda Lambert was present. Perhaps that is why.

      • Nev says:

        l hear you…

if the Grammy Association wants to award him and invite him to perform.

even they said they wanted to give him a second chance.

I am not trying to be controversial but Miranda needs to be quiet and stop taking other people’s husbands.that’s it.she isn’t the one to judge anybody.

Chris Brown needs anger managment for years…but he already was charged and sentenced.

    • PleaseICU says:

Um, pretty sure Mel Gibson no longer has a career in HW. Any films he’s in he has to finance himself because no one in HW will give him the time of day.

And plenty of people raged about Mel Gibson and rightly still rage about him whenever there’s any post about him.

And as for Miranda Lambert not talking about Mel Gibson right now…she didn’t just watch an entire industry give him 2 standing ovations and get 2 undeserved performances at an industry awards show and also get honored with one of the industry’s top honors. She did watch all of that with Chris Brown and tweeted her frustration about that within hours of it happening.

I do believe that all of the industry’s women beaters should be publicly called out and often for their violent actions. I’m just glad it’s happening for anyone right now.

    • Petunia says:

      1. People WERE all on him. I know I was. I can’t even look at him anymore without thinking of the things he said.

      2. Mel’s career is in ruins as a result of those actions.

      3. We know exactly what Mel said, thanks to the tapes, but I thought that a lot of Oxana’s claims were disproven? In other words, we know he’s emotionally violent and scary. We don’t know for sure what happened between them. Correct me if I’m wrong. At any rate, I’m no fan of his either.

And since when does one wrong make a second wrong right?

    • Nev says:

he ALREADY went through the justice system regarding Rihanna!!!!!!!!!!!

      • kc says:

No he did not!!! He did not finish his. Court ordered community service, and is still on probation. Until hecompletes his probation, he is not finished with the consequences of his actions. Why is that so confusing?

      • novaraen says:

You must be one of those girls who said you’d happily take a punch from him. Good luck with that. *eyeroll*

      • Petunia says:

And Mad Mel did too and I still can’t stand him anymore. And I’d love to see him get his, legally.

      • Petunia says:

Actually, kc, you’re right, he’s still on probation for the Rhianna offense.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Miranda Lambert commented on CB because she’s in the music business too, and I imagine she’d probably like to avoid CB backstage at events because he beat a girl. Lambert probably doesn’t even know who Mel Gibson is, as he no longer has any career to speak of.

This article is about Chris, but we can go ahead, and make a list of all “celebs” whose careers we will never support with our money. Chris is far from the only one on my list. Someone else’s actions don’t mitigate what Chris did, women get beaten every day, and it’s always wrong.

      • gg says:

You’re going to have to define “mitigate” for the uneducated defenders of the woman-beater … now you’ve done it! 😆

      • Riana says:

Celebitchy didn’t post it but on tha talk show Watch What Happens they did an interview with John Legend and his fiancé in which she came right out and said. “John can’t comment because he’s in the music industry but I’m not and I can” and basically said the fact he and Rihanna recently worked together was very sick and wrong.

I thought it was telling and sad that she essentiay admitted regardless of how reprehensible it might be to them no one might speak up like Lambert because theyre not brave enough or fear it will effect their work. Jerks

    • Flan says:

      Look at that stupid “hmmmmmmm.
      just askin’”, passive-aggressiveness.

If you want to complain about people not complaining about Mel Gibson, you are really at the wrong website. Here he has been bashed plenty.

      Better luck next time.

  11. the original bellaluna says:

Anything that keeps him away from Rhiana, I guess.

He is just such an amazingly huge asshole, the dangerous kind with major rage issues and no self-control.

    • Kimbob says:

Hello @the original bellaluna…I have to totally agree w/you.

My 2 cents is that Chris Brown has been coddled all his life…this is so obvious. He really is a monster that has absolutely NO SELF CONTROL/IMPULSE CONTROL.

Every so often there is yet another “incident” that screams of his lack of impulse control/anger management. I think this bastard’s been out of control all his life, & has gotten away w/it until he hit “celebridom” then he started beating Rihanna & got away w/that until the beatings reached critical mass. Since then, we’ve watched him enjoy some periods of peacefulness then always punctuated w/yet another incident.

I feel he needs some serious jail time, so he will understand the parallels between unacceptable behavior and consequences. Like posters above have mentioned, Brown perpetrates his crimes w/people (women) w/whom he thinks he can “get away” w/such.

I know if he went to jail he’d be in some sort of protective custody, but he could still not avoid hearing “cat calls” from other inmates DYING to get their hands around his throat. He really needs to understand that when he acts w/out thinking that he can end up someplace where he’s quite very low on the food chain. This is just my opinion.

  12. LuvHotGuyFri says:

Everything about him just screams arrogant jerk. I have no use for him and wish we didn’t have to hear about him or see his annoying teeth and jewelry anymore.
    Ugh.

  13. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

So Chris faces possible jail time for stealing a phone. Yet he served NO time for using Rihanna as a punching bag, and fleeing the scene like a coward.

LA County wont do sh!t. Hello LiLo! This is just another action his part that shows how he treats women, and people with less power than him. I’m surprised he didn’t hit her, then go jump on twitter and rage about how she made him do it.

  14. Jordan says:

I think CB is out of control and feeling himselft b/c there have been no real consequences for his actions. But don’t hold your breath for an arrest, this report has been on TMZ since yesterday and Chris’ lawyer is already on it. If they haven’t made an arrest by now, I doubt they will.

    • logan says:

Kind of like our Miz Lohan don’t cha think?

      • Jordan says:

Yeah, but the difference is Lindsay has gone to jail (I know not much) and has had what seems like a hella lot of community service, which she deserves and then some. She had DUI’s and stole some jewelry. I know people who have had DUI’s and they don’t go to jail so that’s not unusual. Chris Brown beat the hell out of someone he supposedly loved, and left them for dead on the side of the road. He gets slapped on the wrist and has to pick up some trash on the side of the road. Ummm…

  15. logan says:

Have he and Lindsay Lohan ever hooked up? Seem like they were made for each other. Both go out and make complete a$$es of themselves, then blame others. Now there would be some drama worth following. Brown and Lohan try and take over the world. That would make a great made for t.v. movie.

  16. Quinn says:

Douchebag of extraordinary proportions. And none too bright.

  17. TheEmpress says:

He snatched her phone because he didn’t want pictures of him hooking up with another dude to go viral. Fact.

    • skuddles says:

Hmmm, interesting comment Empress… there had to have been some good reason he had a hissy fit over these particular pics – this might make a lot of sense.

  18. Kerfuffles says:

If any non-celeb grabbed a person’s phone and drove off with it, i.e., stole it, there is no question that non-celeb would be arrested for theft, regardless of whether they were otherwise on probation. It smacks of celebrity entitlement that there’s even a question as to whether he’ll be charged with theft & arrested for stealing a person’s property.

Because his probation is in L.A., I don’t see him going to jail for violating it. But I’ll be happy if he just gets charged for theft in Florida.

    • Really? says:

I (a non-celeb) once dropped my phone on the sidewalk after a night of clubbing. A girl pushed me back snatched it up and ran across two lanes of traffic and got in a cab. I called the police with her name, description and general address. She was not arrested/charged or even questioned. I can only assume it ranks pretty low on the police priority list when someone snatches your phone. That was three years ago, not even a follow up call and I never saw that phone again.
Also do you think Tyga the guy who was in the car with him is going to say “yeah he did it” or “no, he didn’t do it”?

  19. Maria says:

the idiot says to her ‘you won’t put this on a website’.. most likely an innocuous photo of him in a car, no biggie…and now he’s on EVERY web site with this story?.. typical acting rageful in the moment not thinking of the consequences. it’s obvious he’s a narcissist not to mention a misogynist….that being said, his horrible childhood certainly was the building blocks of what we’re now witnessing..just too bad he’s a millionaire and constantly gets rewarded for being a horrible human being. why should he change when no one sees a problem with it?.. he has ZERO empathy too…true sign of a sociopath. sad, but true…nobody would ever beat anyone’s face in that had an ounce of ‘do unto others’. no impulse control is going to grant him a very difficult life, wealthy or not.

  20. Tweakspotter says:

He’s a punk pure and simple. Too bad CA DA and Jerry “the clown” Brown just downgraded things of this nature to misdomeoners (sp) because of crowding in the jails and courts. He may have to pay a fine but I doubt anything will come of it.

  21. Talie says:

TMZ has the video of when it happened…the girls seem to be genuine to me and they responded immediately to police, and they aren’t acting like famewhores for the cameras.

  22. DetRiotGirl says:

I spent a bit of time browsing through his mentions on Twitter yesterday after this story intially broke. You would not believe how many girls I saw that were saying things like “I’ve been a fan for five years, please tell me you didn’t do this to a fan! Tell us the truth about this girls iPhone!”.

I had to do a double take at that. I mean, let me get this straight, you stayed a fan after he nearly killed Rihanna, but touch a fan’s iPhone? You, sir, have gone too far! Is that about right? Is that what these girls are saying? Ugh, I weep for humanity.

Oh, and of course there were also bunches of girls saying things along the lines of “she was probably a stalker ho! Don’t mess with Breezy!”, the ever popular “I’d let Chris Brown steal my phone.” and the most disgusting of all “I’d let Chris Brown beat me and take pictures with my phone! Keep it so you can remember me baby!”. The sad part is, I’m not making any of that up. I saw that last comment almost verbatim last night.

Seriously, what is wrong with people? I just don’t get it.

    • Jordan says:

It’s the ‘Reality TV’ mentality: Do ANYTHING, endure ANYTHING, say ANYTHING for fame and fortune (regardless of how fleeting). Only requirement: Leave your pride and respectablily at the door

  23. Meadowlark says:

I connected this headline with the one about Brad Pitt losing his iPhone. I laughed out loud.

    Sorry, carry on.

  24. dana says:

Why do the guilty go with Geragos?

  25. NM6804 says:

As always he’s innocent. Homeboy needs to go to jail, it won’t teach him anything (he’s not the type to learn from mistakes) but at least he won’t harass other people with his douchebaggery.

  26. lucy2 says:

He’s such an angry a-hole. Anything that continues to show that and have him face consequences is good by me. He will continue to do things like this until he finds himself in serious legal trouble, or dead from messing with the wrong person.
If his probation is so strict, why DIDN’T something happen when he threw his hissy fit on that morning show?

  27. Amanda says:

I don’t think I could possibly hate this person more. I wish he would go away and not be famous anymore.

  28. Laurie M. says:

I hope he is found in violation of probation and sent to prison for 5 years. I doubt his Grammy will mean much to the other guys in prison ready to kick his @ss for beating up a woman!!

  29. TheOriginalKitten says:

Dude has some SERIOUS anger issues. Such a nasty human being.

  30. Mia says:

Wait. Was there any proof of this? Any witnesses? The GPS on her phone being at the same location as his? Why would he take a phone for pictures of him sitting in his car?

    • gg says:

Because he’s a rageaholic idiot! Where have you been?

    • Patsy says:

Maybe he was doing something in the car he didn’t want anyone to see….but this “I did nothing wrong” really pisses me off and reminds me of someone else (Lohan).
Let the POS moonwalk off the face of the earth.

  31. boo says:

This guy is reaching Lilo status, meaning I can’t stand him. I was never a fan, I’m not his fan base anyway, but my daughter, who is 17, does not like him either. Mostly, my daughter and her friends think he’s a douche because of what he did to Rihanna, and they don’t like him for it. I encourage this. He has no self-control, that is evident, he lashes out without being able to control his actions, that is not a good sign. And the news that Rihanna seems to be flirting with him again, or is already with him again, spells disaster for me. These people do not change, once a woman beater always a woman beater, unless they get intensive, long time therapy and really want to change, I don’t see this in Chris Brown at all.

  32. novaraen says:

I am totally not on his side whatsoever….but how does one let their iphone get stolen right out of their hands?? It says he was sitting in a car when she snapped the pictures…so in the time it took him to get out of his car and come over to her to take it…why didn’t she stash it away. I sure as hell would have the grip of death of my phone and would swing at him if he tried to take it.

I still hate his guts…he needs to be in jail.

    • Riana says:

She sounds like some misguided fan who probably thought “Oh that was Rihanna, he wouldn’t do that to me.” and by the time she realized what was happening he was speeding away.

      • novaraen says:

Ha…definitely misguided if they would assume he wouldn’t do that to them. We all know he would…first class woman beating jerk that he is.

  33. Dimebox says:

Bullies are usually also cowards when facing someone of equal strength. If this had been a guy taking his picture, CB would probably have yelled at him, but no way would he have taken another man’s phone. He lacks anger control and this will not be the last time he deals with the legal system. I just hope no other woman gets beat up first.

    • Petunia says:

Yes. He is boiling mad and I fear he’ll lash out at someone again. I’d sure hate to be his girlfriend.

  34. Katija says:

I remember The OC/Doublemint commercial Chris Brown. The “With You” era.

He had found that ultra rare success where he was highly sought after by both the urban and mainstream industries. He had serious cross-appeal.

I’m not pitying him at all. He’s a smarmy little punk who needs to get punched. But I hope the worst sting for him is the awareness of what a gem of a career he threw away. He’s not particularly good looking, his singing voice is just okay, and there are several male performers who could have mastered his choreography. He’d won the lottery, and he just shat on it, basically.

    What a douche.

    • Katija says:

Now that I think about it, so did Lindsay Lohan. The Disney/tween world adored her, and so did the mainstream film world. No one ever says that Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez will probably have Oscars in twenty years, but they were totally saying that stuff about Lindsay.

So stupid. Is it that the more you have, the harder you fall? Maybe.

      • Petunia says:

Your last sentence is so right on! But I think it’s also a case of the more you’re given and told you’re special, the harder you fall. It sure seems that it’s simply too much, too soon for most young people to handle. I think the worst part is that they’re given everything and never told no, so they become little monsters. Children who never grow up And because of this, they are completely unable to handle the ups and downs in life.

I think CB is quite good looking but it does little good, knowing his evil temper and bad vibes.

  35. Tiffany says:

When I said the other day that he would be back in jail within 3-5 years…I should have said 3-5 weeks.

  36. iloveretro says:

I love that people here are saying it’s no big deal.

    A) He took something that didn’t belong to him.

    B) That is called stealing, and it’s illegal

He’s an arrogant, highly aggressive and self-entitled little thug, and he truly believes he can do whatever the frack he wants. He can’t. I hope the Florida legal system gives him the punishment for his actions (in this case, theft) he deserves.

  37. Faye says:

I like to image the bottom-most picture of him freaking out at this woman before snatching her phone away. Because that adds a bit of hilarity to a ludicrously Chris Brown-tastic incident.

  38. Peachy says:

  39. HannahF says:

It’s California yo?!!?? Yes, it is. It is a state with prison overcrowding due to an inability to build more jails due to the fiscal irresponsibility of our politicians. In addition, a significant portion of the inmate population are illegal aliens–politicians are happy to let them in the country but the state picks up the burden of paying for education, medical expenses and prison.

California’s prisons are so overcrowded the Supreme Court deemed the conditions cruel and unusual punishment. Therefore, non-violent felons have been sent to county jails. In large counties such as Los Angeles the county jails were also overcrowded. Therefore, people who commit non violent misdemeanors are in and out in days. Note: Chris Brown’s crime WAS violent. Mark Geragos’ task is to keep Brown from being charged thus eliminating the. VOP.

  40. yoyo says:

TMZ just put up a candid video of the woman and her friends when the police arrived outside the club responding to her call. I guess there were paps out there and they captured that. IMO the women look shocked and annoyed. the woman says she just wants her phone back. It looks legit and undeniable. Crossing my fingers so that the douchebag gets sent where he belongs.

  41. BELLA says:

the people ,the fans have spoken!!!
    why do
these record companies continue to reward behavior.this crap hasssssss
    to stop

  42. xxodettexx says:

oh wow, so Florida’s finally giving me hope to actually be proud of my state for once??

come on, FL prosecutors, get this woman beater off the streets (even if for a tiny while)!!! maybe he will choose to stay away from Florida for a while (one can only hope!)

  43. Palermo says:

He is just a loser, plain and simple. He always has his mouth hanging open like he’s dumber than a rock.

  44. skuddles says:

Oh PLEASE, send this POS to jail! Then us celebitches can throw a “buh bye bitchboy” partay!!

I seriously hope he’s pooping his boxers right about now…

  45. Ravensdaughter says:

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, is he?

    • moonriver says:

I loved the superficials post about this. they had a picture of an angry chris brown stalking down the street and the quote: “imma do somethin retarded today”-chris brown, everyday to himself.
He is an angry abusive fool.

  46. Newtsgal says:

You know damn well that IF he is arrested he’ll say it’s cuz he is black, and IF he isn’t it’s cuz he is a celebrity!

  47. Marianne says:

Chris Brown should not be in jail. Didn’t ya’ll hear…he has a Grammy. A GRAMMY!

    *rolls eyes*.

  48. Adrien says:

He got a wrist-slap sentence for almost killing Rihanna but would go to jail for a lesser offense. Like O.J.? Capone?

  49. HappyJoyJoy says:

Hey, Chris Brown! Shawn Kingston should have a jet ski you can borrow so you can ride yourself into a bridge. PLEASE DISAPPEAR!

  50. Serena says:

lets be real this dude dont never be in the spotlight for tryna fight dudes he always bucking on the females

  51. Asiyah says:

Maybe he thought that his Grammy made him immune to the conditions of his probation.

  52. Moreaces says:

I actually had hope for him, And wanted to see him prove himself to be change.. I guess my bubble is burst.. Send him to jail for the max time that he can get,, He has abusive problems with women, I wonder if he would have said and done the same if a Man snapped his picture..

    • skuddles says:

Excellent point Moreaces! I sincerely doubt Brown would have thrown a fit had it been a man taking his pic…

Is it wrong that I want that wrestler Punk (or someone else) to whup Brown’s ass into tomorrow?? He needs to learn respect. Right now he’s like a feral dog running at large… just a matter of time before he really chews somebody up. Again.

  53. Sam says:

What a jerk! I wonder what he is thinking half of the time. He doesn’t deserve the attention!! http://thecelebritycafe.com/feature/2012/02/chris-brown-reportedly-stole-fans-phone

  54. Meanchick says:

A messed up childhood is not an excuse to be a messed up adult. He has choices and he makes poor ones. He has not learned his lesson. He does not have a shred of respect for women and the next time ( it will happen again) he hits a woman, he will go for the gold and really hurt or kill her. The fans that excuse this? Dumb asses. You can love his talent all day long, just don’t stand up for his personal bad behavior. I hope he goes to jail.

  55. jwoolman says:

I think his pattern is getting triggered not just by women, but rather by black women. I suppose it could be just a coincidence or greater fear of retribution if he beats up non-black women, just as he manages to control his impulses with men who might rearrange his face.  But the GMA interviewer was both black and female. She was quite reasonable but you could see he was seething when she asked uncomfortable questions. Then he went and tossed a chair through a window and stormed out of the building (ripping off his shirt for some reason). The young woman whose phone he grabbed was also black.

Mommy issues maybe? The story is that he saw his mother regularly abused when he was a child.  Could he possibly have decided she deserved it at some level? He really is not normal. If you read the police report on what he did to Rihanna, it’s a wonder they were so gentle with him. He came close to killing her. She was screaming for help on the street.

In this case, I think he must have destroyed the phone or else his people would have returned it with profuse apologies and some soothing cash (although the woman said she just wanted her phone back – she was quite distraught on a video soon after, as I would be). He has no impulse control. They can’t trust him on interviews now and his access to twitter has become a nightmare for his handlers. He needs a very long time out, I don’t see his career going anywhere but down unless he learns some real control and deals with his underlying problems. Do they have rehab for that? Hate to see anybody go to prison since it’s generally counterproductive, but he needs intensive treatment somewhere for many months, really a year or so, and not just a few classes in anger management. It would actually be a blessing for him to get hauled in for violation of probation, if they don’t just pat him on the noggin and let him go. He did take and probably destroyed a device worth several hundred dollars, maybe that will get some attention.
