Did Kermit the Frog screw around on Miss Piggy with Rashida Jones?

This can’t turn out well. Now I fear that Kermit the Frog has somehow given the tweaked yet ultimately lovely Miss Piggy more incentive to add to her 99% Botox level. Of course, I made the grave error of assuming that Kermie loved Piggy just the way she was, but now it turns out that the Green One may have been messing around on the prima donna pig, with whom he’s shared a long-term relationship dating back to the 1984 film, Muppets Take Manhattan. Now that I think about it, Kermie didn’t really seem into that wedding ceremony, did he? He was totally pulling a Prince Albert.

Now Kermie confesses to ET Online that the wedding wasn’t even real because it was just part of the movie, although he concedes that he and Piggy remain “an item.” This seems like such a famewhore move on Kermit’s part and could merely be a strategic move to promote the upcoming Blu-Ray release of The Muppets. Poor Miss Piggy not only must deal with the public’s reaction to this startling news, but now it seems that Kermit has also been fooling around on her as well. Here’s the other woman in question, Rashida Jones, one of the actors on The Muppets.

The video embed for the interview is acting wonky, but you can watch it here. In the meantime, here are the relevant excerpts. Naturally, Kermit has won back a few points for a pretty stellar Tom Cruise joke:

On his relationship with Miss Piggy: “Well listen, I love the wedding scene in Muppets Take Manhattan, I just think it’s nice to clear up (while I can) that that was obviously only a scene in a movie, and even though it was a beautiful scene in a movie, it was not an actual wedding, and Piggy and I are not actually married.”

On the craziest rumor about himself: “Being married to Piggy was quite a strange one. But somewhat expected because, you know, we are kind of an item. Gee, I don’t know. I have to ask somebody who reads the rumors.” [Walter mentions an on set rumor.] “Oh, Rashida [Jones]! We may have to cut this part out too … TMI, TMI. TMI, TMI! TMI.”

On who he’d like to work with: “There are always new celebrities comeing down the old pipeline. It would be wonderful to work with Tom Cruise. Tom would be great. He and I are about the same size. And I’d love to work with Harrison Ford. I think he’s a wonderful actor. Anthony Hopkins. Of course, there’s uh … Reese Witherspoon. That’d be alright. I wouldn’t mind that at all. It’s interesting. As a cold-blooded amphibian, I find myself strangely attracted to mammals. I’m not quite sure why, I just, they seem to have things we don’t have.”

[From ET Online]

Overall, Kermit seems really evasive during this interview, and this really gives Piggy some ammunition to start acting on her amazing chemistry with Jon Hamm and Michael Fassbender. I know that I’d totally go there if my frog was acting like this. But who knows? Maybe Piggy and Kermit have a very open relationship. While I generally don’t feel great about couples who dabble elsewhere, perhaps Kermie and Piggy’s weird dynamic is such that they can work it out no matter who they spend their evenings with. Or maybe Kermit just needs some time off from Piggy’s overbearing ways from time to time, and she’s fine with it as long as he comes back to her. Of course, I don’t really see Reese taking Kermit up on his offer, but he could certainly do worse than Rashida Jones.

Kermit also mentions that Piggy is rather jealous of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he’s actually caught her “flamenco dancing” on top of it. These two are such prime candidates for relationship counseling, right?

This may be the best post ever.

I am a big fan of Rashida’s, but I’ll have to denounce her if she homewrecks Kermit and Piggy. 😀

      Agree!

    • Maguita says:

Pardon my vulgar French, but I hear Michael Fassbender is so good, he makes them squeal like a pig…

So yeah, I say Miss Piggy, you go get your Fassbender on! Kermit can kiss it!

This is so disappointing. I’ve always put these two on a pedestal and to find out Kermit is like every other frog is really depressing.

  5. Mauibound says:

Love the comment about him and Tom cruise being about the same size! Bwahaha!!

OK, I lost all hope after the Peter Facinelli news, but Kermit too?! I had him and Piggy as the surest of things. I will now begin to doubt that the sun actually rises in the East and sets in the West. 🙁

I don’t know how to feel about this. Kermit cheating on Miss Piggy. Miss Piggy being so insecure that she gets botox. My world view has been shattered. I was the only kid that thought that this relationship was a sham and I am finally vindicated. Maybe it started out as love but both seemed too detached to be a real couple like Bert an Ernie.
In terms of the Rashida Jones angle I aint mad at her at all. I always thought Piggy would finally do something that would cause Kermit to leave and I guess she did.

  9. Anne says:

Miss Piggy will be fine. She and Fassbender had great chemistry when she interviewed him recently. She might seem a bit pale for his taste but you never know…

  10. Ravensdaughter says:

    Keep those Muppet updates coming!!!

  11. skuddles says:

Okay Kermit, who’s the pig now??? I hope Miss Piggy karate chops him right in the lily pad!

  12. Lala says:

Kermit’s been iffy about this relationship from the beginning, if “I Hope that Something Better Comes Along” was remotely true. I mean, according to The Muppet Movie, this was the same day they met! Piggy often seems to be bullying him into it, at least from my perspective.

Kermit, I know you’re a few years older than my dad, but if you’re looking for a curly blonde with a lot less karate kicks and bad temper, call me!

But seriously, best laugh I’ve had all week, especially the comments. Thanks guys!

  13. Leah No-No says:

You made my piggin’ day! Thank you. Now if we can address the Fraggles and their obvious crack addictions.

  14. sup says:

No! Not Kermit too! I have just come to terms with his long term relationship with Piggy even though you know, he could do better, but I certainly don’t want to see him as a cheater 🙁

  15. tripmom says:

I know this is going to sound kind of racist, but this is a really good example of why interspecies dating is a bad idea.

    • skuddles says:

Actually, I think that would make you a “speciest” tripmom 😉 But you’re not alone – I’ve always felt theirs was a species match made in hell lol!
