Elle Macpherson: “My face looks like the face I have, very natural”

Why is it when a celebrity’s Botox wears off that they feel the need to declare how “natural” they are? That seems to be the case for Elle Macpherson, who admits to having tried everything, but claims she’s “very natural” and hasn’t had plastic surgery. She’s kind of dancing around the issue, but I get it – her Botox has worn off and she’s not getting a follow-up dose and so that’s “natural” to her. In her circle of friends, it probably is natural. I was ready to call B.S. on this story that Elle hasn’t had plastic surgery, but then I looked up old photos of Elle and she does look almost exactly the same as she did 10 years ago! I think she had some injectables and she’s not denying it, but I buy that she’s all-natural otherwise. She’s a supermodel, after all. Here’s what she told The Sun, which offers no context for these quotes as is standard for them, but at least we know they didn’t get them off a tapped phone conversation:

VETERAN supermodel Elle Macpherson has insisted she never had a boob job — or any kind of plastic surgery.

Aussie beauty Elle, 47, nicknamed The Body, said: “I’m a 34C, absolutely natural.

“The face looks like the face I have, very natural.

“Not falling into the plastic surgery thing is my trick.”

Elle admitted experimenting with Botox in the past.

But she said: “It didn’t really work for me. I tried a bit of everything. You name it, I’ve tried it. This is as about as natural as you can get.”

[From The Sun]

She’s 47? I would have put her at an amazing-looking 42. I just looked her up and she turns 48 at the end of this month! Whatever she’s doing it looks good, but I don’t buy that she looks “very natural.” Maybe that’s just because she started out looking ethereal and she’s continuing to highlight her best assets with makeup. For instance here she has a lot of highlighter under her eyes. Her forehead looks Botoxy to me, but that’s not “plastic surgery” per se. Maybe she also gets peels and laser treatments. I do buy that her boobs are real. Some women are just lucky that way.

It’s possible that Elle gave these quotes to People Magazine. They have a new bikini photoshoot with her, and while you may think that her incredibly banging body is the product of some Photoshop, they have a video online that shows that she really looks that great. It also shows that only her mouth moves when she talks. Just sayin’.

She needs to lose that ridiculous tan.

We as a culture need to lose the ridiculous tans…

    • Jackie says:

agreed. especially on women who are aging. tans just make them look older.

    • gag! says:

She’s a lying dog! These pathetic, vain cows need to realize that JQ Public CAN see the results of their plastic surgery and that our memories are not that short.

    • smith says:

Agreed – I don’t get woman who are SO over the top worried about every line, wrinkle or sag on their faces but still walk around proudly showing off their overly tanned, freckled and haunted-looking décolletage areas.

It ages them immensely and is about as sexy as an old leathery grandmother.

  2. hannah says:

34C??? She used to be that maybe, before having kids.

    • Leticia says:

yes. where did they go? I remember those old sports illustrated swimsuit issues. she is much flatter now. but she still looks amazing.

  3. Anne says:

If she looks exactly the same today as she looked 10 years ago, she’s probably had something done.

Being natural to someone like Elle is not the same as being natural to the rest of us peasants. Being natural to me means no botox, plastic surgery, laser peels, nothing.

Elle’s definitely had work done; her career depends on her looks so I don’t blame her, but she should tell the truth or stay quiet imo.

    • hunter says:

She’s definitely sporting Botox & lip plumpers but I think her quote: “This is as about as natural as you can get.” actually rings pretty true for her and the industry she’s in.

    • Carolyn says:

Agree. She used to have a lot of sun damage – there’s no way she hasn’t had a lot of maintenance/upkeep done. It would take a lot of work to keep her looking that good.

  4. Minx2 says:

Her lips don’t look natural to me, particularly on the photo in gray, with hair pulled back tight. She looks good overall, but she surely tweaked a few things.

    • atlantapug says:

Agreed. Lips look really wierd in that pic.

    • Pisa says:

Yes. She did not have much of an upper lip 10 years ago. Naturally, if anything, your lips tend to get smaller, not bigger, with age.

    • Marna says:

You beat me to it. And on Fashion Star last week they kept distracting me. Super fake. She looks great, don’t get me wrong, but the lips are definitely not natural.

    • iloveretro says:

      +1

She looks super tweaked and her lips look creepy. She may not have had any *major* plastic surgery, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t had other stuff done.

Can you say powdered rhinoceros horn? She might be “pretty” on the outside but she’s ugly on the inside. Just ask her about all the “alternative medicine” she relies on to keep looking young and the animals she doesn’t give a f*** about that are cruelly slaughtered to feed her habit.

  5. Ha says:

Ahh! Highlighter! So that’s what the white under the eyes is on celebs?! I always that it was a tan line from the goggles at those tanning salons. That’s so odd that that is a makeup trend

  6. atlantapug says:

With the massive amounts of skin damage on her chest and shoulders, I’m betting her face has been peeled and repeeled dozens of times. Either that or she wears a TON of coverup.
She’s probably had fillers too to combat the sagging skin that comes with too much sun exposure. Or a neck lift.
Either way, that’s not really “natural” but hey, whatever.

    • hstl1 says:

Co-sign. She has a ton of damage on her chest and hands from the sun. She has to have done something to her face.

      • Marjalane says:

I KNOW she’s done something to her face because I sat two rows away from her on a flight, like 5 years ago and I was appalled at how much sun damage she had! At the time her face, neck and chest were very freckled and covered with brown spots. Pure leather. I am VERY impressed that she looks this good in what seem like unretouched pics. It must have been some kind of awesome peel.

  7. really says:

I wish someone would talk openly about these very expensive laser treatments that these “natural” women (who criticize botox) have. It looks better than botox, but it’s equally unnatural and vain.

    • thinkaboutit says:

There’s nothing “vain” about maintaining her looks, especially since she makes millions of dollars with them. It would be pretty dumb of her to just let herself be “natural” to please you or anyone else. Besides, who’s to say what’s natural and what isn’t? The whole freakin world is fake: toothpaste, deodorant, soap don’t occur in nature, you know.

      • really says:

You are missing my point. I don’t care what these people do to their faces or if vanity rules their lives, but it’s hypocritical to pat themselves on the back for not succumbing to botox and face lifts, without admitting that they are doing other, equally expensive and face altering procedures. Maybe not Elle, but other celebs take jabs at women who “don’t let themselves age gracefully”, while doing everything they possibly can to preserve their youth. In many cases it’s misleading to the public who might buy the cheap(er) products they endorse. I’m just asking for honesty/transparency.

  8. Raven Sparrow says:

Her upperlip is different. She definately did something there.

  9. birdie says:

    I really don’t find her interesting..at all!

    • Fishlips says:

I never understood her appeal, even during her heyday.

    • Rav says:

I agree. I think she still looks the same but her face looks harder, which isn’t attractive as you get older. My partner saw her in real life when he was younger, approx. 20 years ago, and says she was gorgeous.

  10. lucy2 says:

I’ve always thought she looked great, but she shouldn’t run around shouting NATURAL! NATURAL! and in the next breath admit to “trying a bit of everything” including Botox. That’s NOT as natural as you can get!

  11. GoodCapon says:

Hahahahahaha… oh wait, was she serious?

  12. wunder says:

She looks great-more like mid 30s!

  13. Coucou says:

Those first two shots are just screaming BOTOX, in the second one, she’s hardly recognizable…must have been shortly after she had it done…the other photos are cute though. I think minimal btox is nice, especially in older ladies, what really galls me is when the baby ladies do it in their 20’s and early 30’s, freaking ridiculous. Anyhoo, keep it up Elle, you still got it, it’s all good.

  14. Darlene says:

Damn, she looks amazing for being close to 50. She looks amazing for 40, for that matter…what’s great is that she still looks like herself. I would look at photos today and say “oh, there’s Elle Macpherson”, not WHO IS THAT???

  15. Katyusha says:

It was probably that crushed rhino horn she was using for youth – from endangered rhinos.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/06/elle-macpherson-rhino-hor_n_636491.html

    • Jaded says:

I was hoping somebody would mention that – she took a lot of flack for that, and rightly so. Stupid twat…..

    • Minty says:

I wonder if she’s still using the stuff and just keeping quiet about it. Either way, she’s a selfish, deluded idiot for ever thinking it was okay to consume the body part of an endangered species as a (fake) beauty treatment.

I do like the chandelier earrings she’s wearing with the sparkly grey oufit. That’s the only nice thing I can say.

    • MST says:

You shouldn’t have written that. Now I hate her!

    • Katyusha says:

      @ Iloveretro

You hadn’t at that point – see time stamp.

  16. Akula says:

Natural isn’t the word that comes to mind when I look at pictures of her… but yeah in her mind and by Hollywood standards she would be considered ‘natural’.

    • Akula says:

I would like to clarify that I don’t think she looks bad, she is a supermodel after all. I’d be pretty happy if I looked like that when I get to her age. But i agree with the poster above who said she looks alright but shouting NATURAL isn’t going to do her any favours. I think it only draws people’s attention to what doesn’t look natural like her lips in some of the photos.

  17. Sapphire says:

Anyone else see Steven Tyler in that photo right after the text?

  18. BW says:

I’m getting a Donatella Versace vibe off some of those photos.

You can see the line on her neck where the foundation on her face stops and the real skin begins.

  19. normades says:

Um, sorry I think she looks TERRIBLE in those shots with the grey outfit. Her botched up lip job is just gross. She looks like a tranny. She’s been so lifted and toxed, you can’t tell how old she really is…she might as well be 55 in those pics.

    • Lauren says:

My hubby said “It looks like a man with a wig on”. He called Elle “It”–she is not fooling anybody.

      • ??? says:

Uhh your husband is lying to you. We all you don’t look close to her. Don’t you women know your husbands are just telling you what you want to hear?

  20. She looks great. I’m growing tired of that hairstyle, though. The one in the last photo. Seems to be the only hairstyle in LA. I like to call it the Real Housewife. It tries too hard, but then, a stylist likely pulled that one off…

  21. Scarlet Vixen says:

I watched the first episode of Fashion Star a few days ago, and was wondering what seemed so ‘off’ about her face. My husband finally said she looks like a ventriloquist’s dummy–the only part of her entire face that moves is her lower jaw. The tight pinched look of her upper lips and where it meets her cheeks certainly doesn’t look ‘natural’ to me. She could look a heck of a lot worse, tho (*coughKardashiancough*).

  22. Lexi says:

All natural Bitch-face, on that I will agree with her!

  23. TXCinderella says:

It looks to me as if she is getting fillers, peels, and maybe botox. She is probably staying away from any procedure where actual surgery is involved. Smart lady, age gracefully. She does need to focus on the neck, decollete, and hands. Those areas are dead give aways for age!

  24. anemoneblue says:

My sister saw her in person about 20 years ago, at a store in Miami when Elle was promoting something. My sister saw her up close and said she had wrinkles around her eyes back then. There is no way Elle is all natural. She is constantly out in the sun and in these pictures, you can’t even see small lines. Natural, my ass!

  25. mia135 says:

She needs to lose the long hair. Long hair can and does look great on some older women (e.g. Julianne Moore, Demi Moore, etc.) but on Elle it’s not working and it ages her. She should still keep some lenghth, but not so much of it.

She also doesn’t look that natural at all to me.

    • Nina says:

YES! Lose the extensions, the bottom few inches look practically synthetic in the top picture of her. And I’m so sick of seeing everyone with their tousled stripper hair… get over it and grow up.

  26. Mouse says:

BS. “You name it, I’ve tried it. This is ABOUT as natural as you can get.” Open to interpretation and my interpretation is this leathery fake baked old whore is nasty. Guess killing off endangered rhinos to maintain her youth isn’t working as well as she’d hoped.

  27. marie says:

Love her hair down. She doesn’t have nice enough features to wear it pulled back off her hair. Only a stunningly beautiful woman can wear her hair up like that.

  28. Jaxx says:

I don’t care if they are doing it or not doing it, but why do they have to TALK about it? In their business looking as young as you can is a requirement if they want to work. If I was in that line I’d do whatever I wanted but I would NEVER talk about it. At All. Let people think whatever they want but they’d never get the facts out of me.

I don’t understand why these people don’t realize they are insulting us when they lie and say they are all natural when we have so much photographic evidence to the contrary.

  29. Kim says:

And Ive got some great swampland to sell you!

She is so full of it. She had implants & had them removed & replaced with smaller ones. All you have to do is look at Sports Illustrated when she was in it & it obvious she had bigger implants back then. She has also had alot of work done on her face.

Why do these celebs, who we have ALL seen pictures of over the years & can see the work they have had done, deny what is so obvious to the naked eye?

It just makes her so desperate & unintelligent to deny what we can all obviously see.

  30. Agnes says:

quite the cat face there, lady…

  31. sup says:

her real problem is how stupid she looks whenever she smiles/grins. how is she gonna fix that?

  32. Shelly says:

She is gorgeous, but it is not natural. I’m not saying that what she’s done looks bad exactly. But seriously, not natural. Her face doesn’t move on Fashion Star. AT ALL.

  33. pink giraffe says:

“I was ready to call B.S. on this story that Elle hasn’t had plastic surgery, but then I looked up old photos of Elle and she does look almost exactly the same as she did 10 years ago!”

…that’s because she’s had work done. You don’t usually look the same way you looked ten years earlier. Elle does because she’s had, at minimum, her eyes done. There’s no way that she’s gotten away with only “filling in” here and there. Not with that face.

  34. hillbilly in the corner says:

She do “natural if she stands to close to a fire her face would run clean off her skull….it so full of crap…..The only one she is fooling is herself..

  35. Nanea says:

It’s a good thing Elle is known as The Body, not as a Face.

I think those plumped-up lips are too much, the tan is too much, and she’s dangerously close to entering creep territory.

  36. Jayna says:

She has always had a youthful look. Women who have mouths that turn up at the corners, instead of turning down, as many do as they age, gives her a youthful appearance. She has a great smile. The same with Christy Brinkley.

  37. JennJenn says:

I am a year younger than Elle and have not done anything to my face other than slather on glycolic acids before going to bed. Whenever I see her weathered, freckled, leathery skin, I am grateful that I protected my light skin from the Sun. I wonder when the Middleton sisters will start needing facial fixes. I know some of the color is from a bottle, but they probably sunbathe or use tanning beds, too.

    • ZenB!tch says:

She always had that so I am accounting for it in my commentary below. Think back to the 80s. She had that overly freckled skin at 24. I loved her back then because she looked like the super hot older version of me and my friends – the tan, naturally highlighted beach girl. We were Malibu she was Bondi but same idea. I’m not wrinkle yet but my face and back look like her chest: mottled. The first thing I’m doing when my personal recession ends is getting the skin tone laser.

What is her natural skin tone? Mine is Ashley Judd, Demi, CZJ so I’m not as fair.

      • marie says:

WTF!!! Am I the only one who doesn’t understand what you’re talking about in the last paragraph??

  38. Baby Cakes says:

Call me crazy but her wonky kind of cat shaped eyes tell a different tale. Why is it women like Kate Winslet and others act like because they haven’t had AS MUCH surgery or botox as other celebs that they are somehow ‘all natural’?

  39. Shamozzle says:

Oh please, she looks every day of her 47 years. How bout a picture of her in the morning pre makeup. I shudder even at the mere thought.

  40. Ginger says:

With all of that freckling on her chest…for sure she’s had lasers and peels on her face and her forehead is smooth as buttermilk…not buying the no botox thing…I suppose in her industry she is as natural as you can get. At least it seems she hasn’t overdone her procedures so that’s refreshing. As a woman in her forties though I sometimes wish these celeb ladies in the same age bracket would just get real. Just be honest about how much you work at it.

  41. ZenB!tch says:

Which is the latest picture? In some of those pics she has the Cracken Trout Pout. In others her eyes look puffy and toxed in others she just spackled on the foundation so her face doesn’t match her skin.

She does not look 42 to me. She definitely looks older (I have one month left on 42) but she looks fine. It looks like she went in tried all the temporary crap and didn’t like it so she stopped.

I would say she is natural. Her body absorbed it and it’s gone. She doesn’t look like those Madonna between-toxing pics where it looked liked she had aged from over toxing. It looks like she tried a few things once thought she looked silly and didn’t go back.

I can totally see this happening to older but not old wealthier women at the derms office all the time.

You walk in for your annual cancer screening, and they start the hard sell. She falls for it, tries it. Screams, is told the swelling will go down. It doesn’t and she doesn’t go back.

  42. Maya says:

I don’t believe she is natural. There is no such thing as a ‘vintage’ model being natural. The last person who said they were natural, was Nicole Kidman, and we all know about the huge lie there.
Elle had larger breasts throughout her late teens, twenties and thirties, and it seems as though she has either lost an incredible amount of weight or she has had a breast reconstruction. If I was her, I’d do the same.
Then there’s her upper lip, that’s something else. What possessed her to fill it?

  43. Mina says:

I can’t even believe that she would make a statement about how natural her face is, in the same breathe as she talks about how much work she’s actually had done on it..Botox, fillers, etc. She doesn’t look natural at all. Here are some before and after comparison pics and you can see just how unnatural she looks compared to her real face: http://famousplastic.com/2012/03/09/elle-macpherson-fell-down-the-rabbit-hole/

  44. Paula says:

Who the hell do they think they are kidding? Quack, Quack!

  45. Anna says:

In case you’re still wondering where these quotes are from, they’re from an interview Elle did with Howard Stern on 3/13- it’s worth mentioning that Elle made some weird remarks about Jews during this interview as well… http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/67328874.html

  46. Rebecca says:

What a liar! She’s had so much surgery her face is unrecognizable to the model she was in the 80s and 90s even! (Although in the 80s I think her Gottex bathing suit ads that were cropped at the neck.) As a model she was never known for her face but it looked a lot better then. She and Christie Brinkley are starting to look exactly the same. Does that happen with all women who have way too much surgery? They all go blonde and have the same scary mouth and wax face! Yuck.

  47. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

I never think highlighter under the eyes looks good. Why do people think it does?
