Us Weekly: Reese Witherspoon is 12-weeks pregnant with her third child

Not to be rude, but we always have photos of Reese Witherspoon looking “baby bumpy”. I think she gains weight in her stomach, and whenever we declare that we see a “baby bump,” we’re wrong. As is everyone else who calls it, of course. So I’m including photos of Reese from March 4th and the 16th, just to show you that she does have a noticeable baby bump, but we had a good reason for not calling it. Us Weekly must have gotten the wink and the nod from Reese’s people though, because they’re putting Reese and her womb on this week’s cover. There’s no confirmation from Reese or her rep, though. Interesting…

When Reese Witherspoon turns 36 this Thursday March 22, she’ll definitely have something extra to celebrate: A baby on the way! As multiple sources confirm exclusively in the new Us Weekly, out now, the Oscar-winning actress is pregnant with her third child, and her first with second husband Jim Toth, who she wed last March at her $7 million ranch in Ojai, Calif. after over a year of dating.

“Reese is right around 12 weeks,” one source explains, adding that the This Means War star is “not planning to announce it.”

The baby-to-be will join older siblings Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8, Witherspoon’s kids with first husband Ryan Phillippe, from whom she split in 2006 after 7 years of marriage. Pals of Witherspoon and high-powered CAA agent Toth, 41, aren’t shocked by the happy news. “Reese and Jim have been trying to get pregnant,” one pal says.

And now that the A-list couple are breaking the news to a small circle of friends, their baby joy is obvious.

“The timing is right,” one source says. “She’s so happy!”

For much more on Witherspoon’s pregnancy — how Ava, Deacon and their dad Ryan Phillippe reacted, how Toth is gearing up for first-time fatherhood and Witherspoon’s plan for “time off” — pick up the new Us Weekly, on stands Friday!

[From Us Weekly]

I think it’s probably on. Us Weekly would have run with this cover unless they got a confirmation from someone very close to Reese. I mean… yeah, Us Weekly isn’t People Magazine, but they’re also not OK! Mag. I believe Reese is knocked up this time. She and Jim Toth have been married a year, and I think the time is right for her. She’s also talked about having another baby with Jim, and how good he is to her, so… I don’t know. It makes sense to me. I think Jim is a keeper, and he’s a good step-dad to her kids with Ryan. I think Reese and Jim are going to be together for a long, long time.

Yay! Congrats to Reese and Jim and their growing family!

  2. Marjalane says:

Yeah, I saw some pics of her promoting her awful movie overseas, and it was pretty obvious- she had the face, the arms, the boobs. Looking all kinds of pregnant. Good for her! maybe she’ll stop trying to be a sexy Betsy and ditch her icky bff Chelsea Handler.

  3. Astrid says:

    Congrats to the family.

  4. Bite me says:

That chin.. Anyway congrats to the family

  5. Lianne says:

If its true then Congratulations! THat is wonderful!

  6. PjcR says:

IF you only knew the truth about Jim Toth and this whole deal! But most don’t want the truth! All make believe but that’s Hollywood for you or should I say that is Reese Witherspoon for you!

      • ... says:

On JJ there are comments saying the marriage is just part of a (PR?)plan and that he’s taking drugs and is still rooting for his ex-fiance and badaboom – the kid’s not his and he never wanted to have one 😉

      • mln76 says:

I’m sorry but that’s silly the only conspiracy theory I can believe is that she was dating Toth longer than the official time period and it overlapped with her PR relationship with Jake G. And that’s why it took her only a few weeks to rebound with him publicly and less then a year to get married/engaged.

    • Tapioca says:

Is someone going to make a “You can’t handle the TRUTH!!” comment, or do I have to?

Anyway, congrats to them. I actively avoid her movies, but simply can’t hate any actress who, when asked if she approved of Justin Bieber starring in a remake of her old film Fear, replied, “Would he be playing me, or is he playing Mark Wahlberg?”

Plus her kids seem sheltered and non-bratty and she handled the divorce from Ryan with class.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

Interesting bit of information please elaborate 🙂

    • cupidityrox says:

      *eyeroll*
      here we go….

    • HadleyB says:

God really? Do you update your FB status with passive aggressive posts as well so people respond to you and comment begging to ask what is wrong? Who are you referring to ? Are you ok??

Grow up. Either say it or don’t, but don’t be high school…

      Now back to Reese’s stomach…

    • SleepyJane says:

What is it? An alien baby?

  7. mel2 says:

    yeah, congrats to them!

  8. jc126 says:

Funny, I was thinking about her earlier and whether she’d get pregnant with this guy, since we’ve heard about pregnancies before. (Strange because I don’t think I’ve even seen one of her movies.)

    Congrats to them!

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

You’ve never seen Legally Blonde or Sweet Home Alabama? Those are staples in my movie chest. What about Cruel Intentions or Four Christmases? You make me a little sad 🙁

  9. Sumodo1 says:

At least Reese can ditch “the career” questions for awhile.

  10. Bubulle says:

Reese on the cover of Us Weekly right after “this means war” bombed I’m sure it’s a coincidence and I’m also sure her CAA agent husband has nothing to do with that.

    • mln76 says:

To be fair TMW bombed but it’s still in the top 10 and had a better staying power than some other recent bombs *cough* Wanderlust *cough*. I’m not saying its a hit but at the end of the day I think it’ll end up turning a profit.
Still her film career is in the crapper right now.

      • lucy2 says:

I just looked it up, it’s made about $115 million on a $65 million budget. Didn’t do well in the US, but I agree, it will probably end up turning a profit.

    • Bubulle says:

65 millions without the marketing costs, plus keep in mind the studio only keep half of the BO revenues, It’s a flop not a John CARTER flop but still a flop, anyone remembered how the very private Reese sold her wedding pics to People magazine just a year ago, the more her career is going downhill the less her life is private.

      • mln76 says:

yes but it will still make a profit after DVD and cable rights are sold. (A small, small, small profit but that’s better than nothing)

      • Bubulle says:

Even if it makes a tiny profit it will still be perceived as a flop for Reese, beside most of the critics said she was the worst think about the movie pointing out that Tom Hardy and Chris Pine had way more chemestry together than with Reese, that’s pretty embarassing. I wouldn’t have been suspicious if she didn’t get the cover, she’s hardly AJ or JA, she not on tabloids’ radars, plus funny how only Us Weekly got the exclusive story, my guess is her PR team is behind the whole thing.

      • mln76 says:

I don’t disagree with anything you said I don’t think the film was a hit AT ALL it’s clearly a flop. And yes this Us Weekly ‘exclusive’ is definitely a PR plant. Lainey has a great article connecting the dots. My point was simply that the movie will make a tiny, tiny profit.

  11. Elle says:

I just can’t like her knowing how close she is with Chelsea Handler! Anyone who can be friends with her loses all respect from me.

    • Tiffany27 says:

Word. Hopefully she’ll ditch her soon. I can’t stand Chelsea Handler.
      Anyway congrats to Reese!!!

  12. JCMama says:

Boobs. The boobs always tell the tale.

  13. Lola B says:

Reese, who is really a Laura, ruined the BOYS name Reece. We want to name our son Reece-a boys name for the most part-but won’t bc of her. I wish she had stuck with Laura.

    • zombieunicorn says:

I know how you feel. Queen Latifah ruined my plan for my child’s name as well. She should have stuck with Dana Owens, her real name.

The nerve these celebrities have, taking our kids names away from us!

      • DeltaJuliet says:

        HA! That’s awesome 😀

      • Samigirl says:

You crack me up. “This is my daughter, Queen Latifah Smith.”

My daughter will be named for a family member (father in laws sister who is deceased). Her name is the same name of a daughter of a “celebrity couple.” I really went back and forth on it, but in the end said, who cares? I stuck with my name, and I’m pretty excited about it. If you like Reece, then use it. Nobody cares, and nobody is going to say, “OHHH YOUR PARENTS NAMED YOU AFTER REESE WITHERSPOON.”

      • Isa says:

Samigirl- what name did you pick?!

      • Samigirl says:

Isa, her name will be Harlow Merry. Harlow is my father in laws only sisters name (she is now deceased-their mother’s favorite movie was Platinum Blonde), and Merry is my mother in law, her mom, her mom’s mom, etc. name. So, we stuck with the family names. I went back and forth a lot about it, but in the end, I said who cares? It’s a name I love, and it means something to us 🙂

    • Linney says:

Do you run in the same circles as Ms. Witherspoon? Are you concerned your child will be confused with her? I don’t get the hate. Name your kid what you want and get on with life. Reese certainly couldn’t give a crap.

      • hoya_chick says:

i think she meant she wanted to name her SON Reece but it’s now associated with her and so is seen as more of a girl’s name so she can’t use it anymore

  14. Courtney says:

has it ever occured to the press to butt out of celebrities lives in times like this. If Reese is expecting congratulations to her Jim Ava & Deacon but she may not want to announce it publically because after age 35 you are high risk

    • marie says:

umm, she or someone close to her probably told the press..

    • fabgrrl says:

Oh, not really. That “high risk pregnancy” label is over hyped and misused. A healthy woman in her 30s, who has had two successful pregnancies already? After 35, a woman’s ability to GET PREGNANT declines, and there is an increased risk of genetic issues, but there is absolutely nothing inherently risky about being pregnant in your late 30s.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

The press acting in the name of *gasp!* ETHICS? I don’t think so, those days are long gone…

  15. Alexis says:

Honestly, she’s so boring that I have a hard time caring about her. Congrats, nonetheless.

  16. mel says:

Awww…congrats!! Glad she is going for that third baby! Love her earlier movies…

  17. BKiddo says:

I’m actually surprised her pregnancy announcement does not coincide with a movie premiere.

  18. lucy2 says:

    If true, congrats to them!
But I hate when magazines make these announcements. It really should be up to the people involved to determine when they want everyone to know.

  19. Mirella says:

If true, congrats to the family!

  20. RTR Girl says:

My daughter’s name is Reece – it is a family name. It ticks me off when people ask me if we named her after Reese Witherspoon – puh-leeze, people! Happy for her if there is indeed a baby on the way.

Yes, people do honestly ask us if she is named after Reese. Not often, but it happens. ‘Cause some people are just THAT stupid.

    • Linney says:

It’s not that stupid. I am, in fact, named for a celebrity (of days past). Some people do it. My mom just happened to admire the actress and really liked her name. I’ll have to let her know that she falls in the “THAT stupid” crowd.

      • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Linney: I do not think it is stupid either. In fact, I hope to have a daughter one day and name her Audrey. After Audrey Hepburn. To me, her life and beauty (inside and out) are that much of a testament to me.

  21. Dibba says:

    What’s JJ?

  22. baba says:

    Congrats to them.

  23. Anon73 says:

ah… this makes sense if she’s preggers. she’s been looking a little chubby and schlumpy as of late. so was thinking she was letting herself go and gain some lbs. but a baby would explain that too 🙂

  24. Dibba says:

    Top photo, yikes! The Joker.
Not a big fan. Don’t dislike her, just not super interested. Seems like good mom. Hope her marriage isn’t a joke.

  25. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

    It’s official! Now on People.com:

    http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20511288,00.html

  26. Michele says:

Her weight fluctuates so much that I thought this time was just another weight gain for her. If she’s pregnant, then I’m happy for her and her family. She seems content in her new marriage and her husband seems to get on well with her kids. I always admired Reese for not dragging her kids into the limelight. The only time you see them is when a pap catches them coming or going. I never detected staged photo ops with Reese and her family. Looks like we have another celebrity baby bump to watch. I have a feeling that Reese will be very low key throughout her pregnancy. This is her third child after all.

    • Oh Please! says:

WOW! Your not talking about Witherspoon right?

    • Just Sayin says:

Your joking about no staged photo ops, this guy getting along with her and Ryan’s two kids, her not dragging the kids in the limelight and she will be very low key during the pregnancy? Tell me your joking cause I am LMAO on these comments!

  27. JessSaysNo says:

Yep. Preggers. It’s obvious in the arms. Good for her!

  28. Dana says:

This time around marriage before baby, eh Reese?

  29. Courtney says:

@Dana She & Ryan were married before Ava was born and she was far from the first celeb or normal woman to conceive a child before marriage Elizabeth Taylor was 3 months pregnant when she married Mike Todd in February 1957 their daughter Elizabeth Frances “Liza” Todd Burton [Richard adopted her} was born August 6th 1957. plenty of names can be used for both girls and boys Ashley Courtney Joey Kelly Kim Nat Pat & Stevie come to mind. If I’m able to have Children one of my daughters will be named Joanne a family name but also for screen legend Woodward who has been my favorite actress since I was a child
