Kate Winslet is known for swearing like a trucker, and we definitely know that she regularly speaks her mind. Sometimes that makes her sound sanctimonious and arguably hypocritical, but other times she’s so blunt it’s funny. She recently said that the theme song for Titanic, Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” makes her want to puke whenever she hears it. Kate went on to explain that she often hears the song played in her honor when she enters bars and restaurants, and that she has to endure Titanic jokes whenever she steps on a boat. It was understandable, and while some find Kate intolerable she’s definitely starting to grow on me. In a new interview on British TV, Kate quipped that since she did Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio 15 years ago she’s gotten thinner while he’s fatter.
Fifteen years after Titanic’s phenomenal success—those 11 Oscars, those gazillion bucks—Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are at the top of the fame game, amassing nine Oscar nominations and one win between them.
One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is their bawdy sense of humor with each other—Winslet has often said DiCaprio is like a brother to her, and she once famously told Vanity Fair, “To me, he’s just smelly, farty Leo.”
Well, well, well…that wicked sense of humor was on full display when the actress recently looked back on their fateful pairing 15 years ago and took stock of the, ahem, hefty things he’s done since…
“We do look very different, we’re older,” Winslet said while guesting on the U.K. show Daybreak, as reported by the Daily Mail. “Leo’s 37, I’m 36—were 21 and 22 when we made that film. You know, he’s fatter now—I’m thinner. It’s true though!”
Gotta give it to Winslet, the lady knows how to milk a good laugh!
The ribbing is all the more hilarious—and ironic—given that, early in her career, Winslet was constantly scrutinized and picked apart for her gorgeously zaftig figure.

Photo agency WENN has the detail that Kate added that Leo wouldn’t care that she said he’d gained weight. According to them her full quote is “He’s fatter, I’m thinner and he won’t care I’ve said so!” Leo shouldn’t care – he deserves a little ribbing since Kate is shouldering all the promotional duties for Titantic 3D. The least he could have done would be to show up at the London premiere, but so far it’s been all Kate.
Well it’s true, basically. Leo is a much bigger dude that he was 15 years ago and Kate is slimmer. She was so hot in Titanic and I just googled “Kate Winslet’s boobs titanic” as a reminder. I haven’t seen that film in at least 10 years. She has a great rack.
Kate is obnoxious and outspoken, but I have to admit I love people like that. Some of my closest friends are very blunt with larger than life personalities. Things are just more colorful and exciting when they’re around. So I would like to have a drink or three with Kate and gossip about celebrities. You know she can trash talk with the best of them. If this is the stuff she’s saying in interviews, she’s probably hilarious in person.

Their relationship seems really cute and fun to me, like when they see each other they spend the whole time taking the piss and cracking each other up.
The way he’s aged is kind of a shame, though. Most men look more distinguished when they get older, but baby-faced guys tend to just look bloated.
He was a rail in his teens and early twenties so he could afford to gain weight. He’s not heavy now but he hasn’t aged very well. I don’t think it can be attributed to having a baby face because he’s got good bone structure and he looked great a few years ago in The Departed. I think he just hasn’t taken very good care of himself over the years and it has finally caught up with him.

Blunt and obnoxious are sometimes acceptable if the person is somewhat likeable in the first place. Kate Winslet isn’t that. She’s more annoying everytime she opens her mouth.

I adore Kate Winslet, but is she kidding? She wishes that she had the body she had in Titanic. She’s NOT thinner…no way. As for Leo…he’s simply gorgeous. My favorite is how he looked in The Departed. He’s a few short weeks away from how he looked…exercise, no drinking and healthy eating. He can be back to that in a snap.

Leo was awesome in The Departed…..one of my fave movies! Everyone was fantastic in that film.

I could watch The Departed over and over again. Not only was DiCaprio superb and gorgeous, his character evoked so much emotion and sympathy. It was the perfect movie, don’t you think?
I thought she was absolutely gorgeous in Titanic. I always thought she was older than him though. The fact that she is a year younger surprises me.

I thought they looked mismatched when Titanic came out (she looked a lot older than him) and now when I look at the pics of them in the film, I still think that.

I like that they’ve been friends for so long. Despite the hugeness of that movie, both went on to have very successful, pretty interesting careers.
I love Kate. I find her to be very real, despite her celebrity. And Leo is just as yummy as ever.

Yea i dont think Leo has ever cared about his weight or looks, i mean google pics of him on the beach, he has a hug belly and man boobs lol and he still drinks and smokes cigars. It’s such a pity the way that he’s aged. I thought he’d look great and be so handsome but his bad habits are written all over his bloated body and face. “Oh just put Leo on!” exasperated Kate exclaims.
“Kate?”
“Leo you made it big young honey and we both know it and I really love you I really do but you must outgrow the modelizing. Really Leo I could forgive you two drug rehabs, one alcohol rehab, one act of pure stupidity captured on camera, four divorces, and one asinin statment made to the press in the course of your career but not one more Victoria Secret! If you haven’t figured out their secret now you are not going to.” slams phone down and checks bum in mirror.
Leo laughs and grabs sticky notes to mark the appropriate pages.
I never realized that Kate had such a “controversial” personality … I haven’t paid a ton of attention to her in the past decade or so, but if I recall, I’ve always found her to be hilarious in interviews. She seems like she’d be really fun to be friends with.
