Joseph Gordon Levitt’s new meathead look (for a movie): would you hit it?

A lot of people go overboard in declaring Ryan Gosling “The Next Great Actor,” in my opinion. Sure, Gosling has done some solid-to-excellent work and he’s already gotten one Best Actor Oscar nomination (plus he probably should have been nominated for Blue Valentine too). But mostly I feel like Gosling is overexposed and overhyped, and the real “Next Great Actor” is Joseph Gordon Levitt. Maybe I’m being unfair in pitting the two men against each other – who says there can’t be two “next great actors” after all? It’s all gravy. But for my money, JGL has more charm, on-screen charisma and range.

So… I’m not sure what to think about these photos of JGL filming a new movie in LA. The movie is called Don Jon’s Addiction, which I misread as “Don Johnson’s Addiction” at first and I kept thinking “For real? JGL is making a movie about Don Johnson?” But he’s not. Apparently, the film is about “The journey of a contemporary, p0rn-addicted Don Juan-type as he attempts to become less selfish.” P0rn addict? Will this be JGL’s Shame? Probably not. Because for the role, JGL has to dress and bulk up like a Jersey Shore reject.

Now, you know I love JGL. But I would not touch him like this. That haircut alone is enough to kill my attraction, but the whole Jersey Shore vibe is awful.

Yeah the hair and wardrobe’s a no-no but I don’t mind him with a little more build on his frame.

  2. LeManda says:

….I never thought there would be a day when I wouldn’t want to hit Joe. I’m so sad. This kind of ruined my afternoon…but I’ll probably still watch this moving. I love him that much!

  3. Macey says:

I loved him in all his roles but I would NOT date anyone with hair like that. He reminds me of that one guy from Jersey Shore.

  4. Me says:

Nope. I wouldnt have done him before he beefed up either. He just looks so small and now he looks small and square.

  5. Tiffany27 says:

Aww damn. I HATE this! Go back to regular baby.

  6. Roma says:

After he hosted SNL I would hit it anytime, looking anyway. He’s amazing and has a great child-actor transition.

    • Nessa says:

I couldn’t agree more! I would hit it all day long…

    • Kate says:

totally agree!:) he’s my age moreless, and I remeber him, when he played in “10 things I hate about you”, and I didn’t like him at all. But year by year he keeps looking better and hotter;)

      • Roma says:

We must be the same age! I loved 10 Things and watched it a lot… but Heath stole the hotness. But now, that boy is sure looking good.

    • Tiffany says:

I agree, but my JGL crush happened when I saw BRICK. He was AMAZING in that film! Blew me away. Had no idea he had all that in him.

I dont care what his hair is doing, I would get with him.

      • darlene says:

oh Brick was an AMAZING movie. It’s one of my favorites and JGL showed great acting skill. I kind of judge people on whether or not they like that movie, LOL. One of my best friends watched it and HATED it and I’ve always thought it reflected poorly on her taste level. 🙂

  7. bea says:

    why yes, yes I would.

  8. Lindy says:

Ewwww, no way. As you may have guessed from my obsession with the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Matt Smith (Dr. Who) and Alan Rickman, meathead is NOT my type:) More like nerdy-posh-hot. I definitely prefer JGL in non-meathead mode.

  9. another nina says:

Sure, why not? I’ll just cover his head with a pillow…
On a separate note, I haven’t realized how hilarious is JGL until I saw an earlier version of him (when he was 18 y.o.) visiting Jon Stewart. I’ve never seen Jon so embarrassed that he could not come up with an appropriate answer 😉

    • Anne says:

Darn, Comedy Central isn’t available in Canada, Comedy Network doesn’t keep interviews that long, and I can’t find the video anywhere else.

I don’t remember ever seeing Jon Stewart a loss for words. I think I will be interested even if it isn’t JGL, but it is, so I wanted to see the clip even more. I don’t suppose you have a downloaded version of the interview?

  10. Chicagogurl17 says:

I like the bulk, but i am missing the wardrobe from Inception and the Stop Loss buzz cut.

That said, I would hit to the 2nd rock from the sun and back. That haircut = I have better than my usual slim to none chance.

    • ssa says:

I think the hottest he’s ever looked is in Stop-Loss. But I’d still hit it in his present condition, yes.

  11. marie says:

While I’m not a fan of the hair, I’d still hit it all day long. I’m a sucker for a pretty smile.

  12. Maritza says:

Ever since I saw him in Hesher the movie I was convinced he is definitely a great actor, love him!

  13. Kathryn says:

Every since I saw him in “500 Days of Summer” I’ve had the biggest crush on him so yes I’d still hit that regardless of the bad hair lol

  14. nikzilla37 says:

The haircut sucks but I really like him like this.

  15. carrie says:

    he looks better skinnier

  16. Even looking like this – if he smiled at me as much as one time I would be lost forever.

  17. Roxy750 says:

    Yes, I would.

  18. Anna says:

Looks like an extra from Jersey Shore!

  19. skuddles says:

I feel like a dirty old lady for saying this but yeah, I’d hit that 😉

  20. Eve says:

    No.

    • normades says:

haha! Succinct and to the point.

I love my JGL but this is just not acceptable.

Gosling (sorry Eve) is still several films ahead of Joe.

      • Eve says:

You don’t have to apologize for your crush on Gosling, girl! We don’t have to agree with each other about everything 🙂 .

I won’t apologize for criticizing him though. He deserves it.

    • BB says:

I’m curious, why he deserves the critics ?

      • Eve says:

That’s an internal joke (between me and Normades).

But if you spot any of my comments on Gosling related threads, you’ll see the reasons why I think he shouldn’t be regarded as this “super cool, mega talented, hottest thing on earth” guy (meaning: I don’t think he’s any of the things his PR machine wants people to think he is).

      • BB says:

        Thanks 🙂

  21. Jenna says:

Look at that smile. I would always hit it. Unf.

  22. Rhiley says:

I love JGL, and it has always irked me that Ashton Kutcher has been looked at as the “technology genius” because he tweets every time he takes a dump. JGL uses social media and technology in such innovative ways, but he doesn’t make a big deal out of it. He is truly very talented, genuine, and humble.

  23. apsutter says:

I don’t believe that a haircut exists that would make me refrain from hitting that.

  24. gobo says:

    Boner killer 🙁

  25. Orly says:

    Sure, I’d hit it.
JGL, everyday and twice on Sundays!

  26. madpoe says:

    Double Tap!

  27. miriam says:

No!!!! He looks much better when he is scrawny. It looks like his neck has eaten away at his chin. Not happy.

  28. Nicole says:

Yes! I like him with the extra weight. I can’t do a skinny man.

  29. sandy says:

Wow, he’s really evolved into a hot looking guy. I probably wouldn’t have thought about him in this way in his TV sitcom days, but now, he’s hot.

  30. MG says:

    I’d hit it.

  31. Caroline says:

    Tappity tap tap….tap.

  32. Stubbylove says:

Love JGL. He’s a talented kid and grows on you into a sexy beast. He totally reminds me of Heath Ledger in the face which makes me like him even more. Would so hit it.

  33. Shaz says:

    Yes I would!!

  34. NYC_girl says:

    Like a house on fire.

  35. Alexis says:

    Well NOW I would. Hehe.

  36. crys737 says:

yes yes and yes i would hit it in every way. dont like his hair though.

  37. I Choose Me says:

    Yes and yes!

  38. jc126 says:

Since it’s just for a role, yes I would still do him.

  39. Alex'sMommy says:

    Hell yes.

  40. aud says:

I’ve been wanting to hit it(though at that point, hit it meant get ice cream and maybe a smooch) since we were both youngins and I watched him on 3rd rock from the sun.

I could easily still hit it, my eyes hardly strayed from that arm. Damn

  41. jc126 says:

I am not kidding – I dreamt about JGL MAJORLY last night thanks to this thread lol.

  42. Adrienne says:

Yes, yes I would. Also, you neglected to mention that this movie is his writing AND directorial debut. So pulling a Zach Braff, while looking (sort of) like JGL…is awesome. Awful haircut or no, that talent is. Sexy.

  43. Amy says:

I just watched Hesher for the first time a few nights ago. He was fan-freaking-tastic in that role. I’ve never really been a fan, but I am after seeing Hesher.

  44. Jaybird says:

In that last picture he looks like Mario Lopez.

  45. jamie luca says:

I feel like Gosling is overexposed and overhyped, and the real “Next Great Actor” is Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Well I think JGL, like RG, is also overhyped. They are both good actors no doubt but not great or tremendous like people keep saying. Also I must be one of the few who doesn’t find JGL or RG attractive at all. No offence to those who like them but I just don’t get the whole fuss over their acting or looks.

  46. Geezer says:

whoah he is 31?! without the bulk, he looks like he is in his 20s still, amazing.

  47. KCG says:

Dimples trump haircut; talent trumps meathead.

  48. Cat says:

It’s official, I am a dirty old lady. I would totally do that and let him do me any way he wanted. So cute with his dimples, sweet smile and kind of crinkly eyes. I hate the haircut but love the yummy arms. Overall the best I have ever seen him look is the GQ cover. HOT, HOT, HOT. He looks like a modern day Cary Grant. I have just recently starting crushing on JGL and the amount of time I have spent googling him recently is down right disturbing.
