Whenever I’ve written about Skyfall and Daniel Craig as the post-9/11 James Bond, most of you react with a collective “meh.” WHY? Skyfall looks like an even better Bond film than Casino Royale – and I LOVED Casino Royale. Quantum of Solace was a POS, of course, so let’s just pretend that movie didn’t even happen. But this one… good God, it looks good. The story seems very heavy on M – played brilliantly by Judi Dench. Ralph Fiennes is on as some kind of MI6 higher-up, I think. Naomie Harris is either Money Penny or another MI6 agent. And Javier Bardem is at his creepy best as the villain. A BLONDE villain. And the part that made me “SQUEEEEE!!!” is the introduction (finally!) of “Q”. Played by one of my favorites of the young British actors, Ben Whishaw. What pitch-perfect casting, honestly.
Daniel Craig’s Bond has an unexpected character strength, one which we saw in Casino Royale: this Bond isn’t always on top. He’s better when he’s lost a few rounds. He’s good as getting his ass kicked. Daniel’s Bond isn’t all suave moves and cocktails. He’s a sh-tkicker. He’s MI6 by way of a hard-knock life. And this looks to be Daniel’s best outing ever. And how much do you love Ben Whishaw? Is it just me? Because I adore that boy.
SPOILER ALERT– I’ve heard some mutterings here and there that this will be the final outing for Judi Dench as M. Something about how she doesn’t want to do it anymore, and the producers deciding to kill her off. After seeing this trailer… I think that’s happening. I think this will be Judi’s last one.

Ben Winshaw is a FANTASTIC actor! He still creeps the hell out of me every time I watch “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” (and I’ve seen it more than three times already).
I’m definitely watching this in the theater — I skipped Quantum of Solace. I had a feeling the movie wouldn’t be good, and when I finally watched it on tv, that feeling was confirmed.
Good call on skipping Quantum of Solace, Daniel was gorgeous but the movie was terrible. The action scenes were dreadful…and it was the same director who is now on that super troubled Brad Pitt movie World War Z. As a fan of World War Z it broke my heart when he was hired.
This one looks fantastic though, fingers crossed.
The same director? Bad call indeed. Quantum of Solace is a mess.
I saw QoS in the cinema and with popcorn, friends, snacks and the general atmosphere it was quite watchable. Most of the time I was staring at Daniel and the pretty scenery though ^^
*So* booking my ticket to see this. I’ll even come back from France to watch this (well, I’ll watch it with subtitles.)
When does it come out, December?
It comes out in November (Brazil and the US). I’m not sure about Europe though.

I read somewhere that Dame Judy Dench has macular degeneration and is losing her eyesight. That might be why she’s decided to step down from her role as M. So sad, she’s perfect as M! Helen Mirren would be a great M too.

Bardem cleaned up quite nicely ! My hubby would kill to get one of Bond’s suits, they’re so classy.
Now that you mention suits, if you’re interested, my bf works as a tailor at Tom Ford and a lot (if not all?) are supplied by them.
They also used Brioni suits in Casino Royale and there’s a lot of Tom Ford in QoS.

Remember the nude torture scene in Casino Royale , some one said he looked amazing from the back and Dame Judy said ‘you should see him from the front’. Everyone took that to mean he was well hung but maybe she meant the opposite.

brit boys lately have been in such good showing. if beckham, daniel craig, and prince harry walked down the street together my va-jay-jay would explode like a party favor, shooting union jack confetti and streamers out as i fell convulsing in the street, dead of hot dong OD.

I too luuvved Casino Royale and this movie looks really exciting so I can’t wait to see it. I read somewhere that Judi Dench is losing her eyesight so she can’t read scripts anymore maybe that’s why they’re killing off her character.

I saw Naomie Harris in Frankenstein (not live, sadly, but at the movie theater) and she was fantastic. I think these Bond films have done an excellent job of casting the “girls.”

Despite nearly 50 years of vast pop culture changes, this is still the best franchise and Daniel has redeemed the franchise, but no one will ever replace Sean Connery just the best!

I like QOS. It had some of the best action sequences. Excited for this one – Craig is the best Bond, bad ass mofo! I think he channels his personal complaining, irritated attitude to Bond. Works well!! Plus there’s Ben Winshaw 🙂

DC is so incredibly fug, its hard for me to get past his Troll-like looks to find him good in this role (although I have thought he was good in other things). He is the worst Bond ever IMO.

Sam Mendes stepped it all up! Will be seeing this for sure. Don’t get all hate for DC as Bond; he’s great and his films have successfully rebooted the franchised – aren’t they the most successful Bond films ever?

More more more! I have loved him since I saw him in Layer Cake. I told my friends over drinks afterward that this was the only man to fill Sean’s 007 shoes, and when they actually cast him sometime after that, I squealed!
