Here are some new photos of Anne Hathaway at last night’s Tate Americas Foundation Artists Dinner in NYC. Annie wore Givenchy and this was her first red carpet since the Met Gala, when she revealed her dramatically different blonde look. While I was actually a fan of her total Met Gala look – the hair with the makeup and that black Valentino gown – I can’t say that this second blonded-up appearance is doing much for me. I kind of expected Anne to go back to brunette after the Met Gala, but I guess not. She’s going to try to keep the blonde for a while.
I’m trying to figure out what’s bugging me so much about Anne’s styling here. Anne has a problem with wearing too-light colors that wash her out, and even if she was a brunette, this pale pink wouldn’t work on her. But really, I guess the biggest problems are A) her eyebrow situation, which is now much too dark and B) Anne’s blonde needs some lowlights and… yes, some roots. It would go a long way to helping her look less washed out. Maybe when her dark roots come in, I’ll like the blonde more. I kind of want to mess up her hair with some product, and maybe spike it up or something. Anne told Vogue at the Met Gala that “I don’t know that you could tell it by looking at me, but Debbie Harry was (my inspiration).” Then punk it out! Don’t try to turn your blonde hair princess-y. It doesn’t work. Sigh… Annie needs my help.
As for Anne’s husband Adam Shulman… he’s just such a small man. And with his coloring, he would look better in this shade of pink.

Yeah maybe. Still you’d have to wake up and look at him every morning. There still has to be a physical attraction. Someone can be as nice as pie and as loving as they want, but there has to be some sort of physical chemistry to speak of.
Maybe that’s what she likes in a guy? Who knows, who cares.

He’s “such a small man”?? The guy is 5 foot 9, which is average height. Not every guy can be 6 foot 2. Anne Hathaway is 5 foot 8 (way above average), and wearing heels so yeah she’s gonna make him look small.
God celebitchy needs to stop trying to brainwash women that men who are under 6 foot 2 are worthless…I’m 5 foot 2 and I love guys who are 5 foot 9 cuz when i’m in heels they’re perfect kissing height.
I think she was referring to his extreme thinness not his height. Me. Hathaway is grossly skinny in my opinion anyway. Checkout those photos of him with legs skinnier than AnnE’s
@Michelle, I agree with you. People are so nuts with the height thing. It’s hard enough finding someone you can get along with without ruling out people based on a wall chart.
The average height for women in North America is 5’5 for women and 5’10 for men.
I think very light blonde is aging for most women and that’s the problem here. (I mean, some women can obviously get away with it, but most can’t, especially if they’re naturally much darker.) I liked her look at the Met event, but here she is looking kinda cartoony.
Also, how come I have never noticed that she seems to tower over her tiny pocket husband?
It’s funny too bc so many women dye their hair blond in an attempt to look younger and it always winds up doing the opposite.
In one picture it looks like she’s trying to slouch down to seem smaller next to him…
I’m sorry, but the blond is awful on her. She is so clearly a brunette, and while the whole peroxide + black eyebrows thing works for a punk look, she just looks ridiculous here. It’s too bad, because she’s such a beautiful woman (albeit incredibly annoying. I find her even more annoying than I did during Oscar season at this point.)

With red she might be able to get away without having mess with her eyebrow colour (one of my pet peeves).

I agree her features are too large, big googly eyes prominte nose and mouth, reminds a bit like a rat, and that blond hair is not complementary to her skin tone or her colouring makes her look cartoonish.
Agreed, her face looked soo much better with longer hair. The short hair emphasizes her bad features.
Wintour left her off of Vogue’s Best Dressed list at the MET gala. So Anna doesn’t like the blonde either.
s, you are so right. I have really blonde hair and got my eyebrows dyed dark brown (it was free)…I look awful at the moment 🙁 Not saying that Anne looks awful, but it doesn’t suit her.
I like the dress. Just not on her. Her husband looks so slight and fragile.
I like the *idea* of the dress, but IRL it just doesn’t work from the front. I can totally see what they were going for, though.
As for her hair… eh, hair is a renewable resource. It’s easier to futz with it when it’s short because you haven’t invested the time in growing it out. Bleach, color, etc – go nuts on short hair! Long hair is another story.
Although if I had her money, I can tell you my hair would be freakin’ spectacular!

I think we’re minority here, but I love everything about this look! Her hair, the dress, the shoes, the makeup and even the eyebrows, it’s all very sixties mod! Ahh, if only I had the right skin tone to pull platinum hair off…

I actually like the colour and it looks like she’s trying to grow out the short hair but if it was a shorter cut (especially at the back) it would look edgy rather than a woman messing around with hair colour while she waits for her hair to grow (can’t judge, been there, done that, destroyed the tshirt with bleach but it’s half a look rather than a style).

The dress combined with the hair really washes her out. If the pink were darker (say a raspberry pink) then maybe she could have pulled it off.

I thought the blonde looked horrible at the Met (in her defense, pretty much everyone looked horrible at the Met) and it looks worse here. She needs to go back to her natural color.
I don’t mind the blonde/dark brow combo a la Agyness Deyn – but it’s not meant to be worn all whispy and soft. She def. needs some product – that hair needs some spirit, lol!

Here’s my advice to my girlfriends, and now to Anne. NEVER have sexy time with a man who is tinier than you. I don’t know why, but each time I see that sort of coupling, it never works out. No offense to tiny men. For some reason it can’t work when your man wears jeans sizes that are smaller than your own. And she’s just a wee little thing too!
She looked better the other night when her hair was styled off of her face, and her makeup was different. This just looks too heavy around her face, and I think it would help if she lightened up her brows. They’re too dark for that shade of blonde.

Yeah, the makeup is way too harsh. She updated her hair but forgot that such a radical change should take more radical changes – the makeup and clothing that does well with dark hair doesn’t do much with blonde hair.

I think she’s trying to give the impression of having *obviously* bleached her hair, I.e. the dark eyebrows, and it’s succeeding. Someone said its fine for a punk look, but the clothes are so un-punk it’s funny. It’s not a 60’s mod look, either. She and hubby look strange together. It’s not anything to do with his size or look, but their body language.
