For several years in a row, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie dominated the Cannes Film Festival. They would always walk the red carpet together, and it seemed like they made an effort to give photographers a variety of sexy/interesting poses to choose from. Sometimes Brad would grope Angelina on the carpet, something Angelina’s dress would so diaphanous it seemed like she was naked, and on and on… it was always a good show. But for the past two years, no Jolie-Pitt drama at Cannes (Brad was there solo last year, no Angie). So will Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban (and his flat-ironed hair) take their place?
Keith was in LA for the American Idol final last week, but he came quickly to Cannes once that whole ordeal was over. And last night was Keith and Nicole’s first red carpet walk at Cannes this year (she’s on the jury, so we saw her all last week). They posed and fondled and kissed each other all over the carpet for Inside Llewyn Davis, the new Coen Brothers film. Is this gross? Or funny? Or just… Keicole? Niceith? I don’t know. It’s not sexy. It’s kind of weird. But I’m enjoying it. I won’t buy what they’re selling, but it’s entertaining to watch.
Nicole’s dress is L’Wren Scott, one of her favorite designers these days. L’Wren is one of my favorites too, although I’m not crazy about this dress. The fabric looks like someone glitter-bombed an ugly Hawaiian shirt. And Nicole’s hair is terrible. She’s having HUGE hair issues at Cannes. Is it an issue of humidity? As for Keith… he always has terrible hair.
I’m also including a photo of Keith and Nicole earlier in the weekend, just going out for a meal or something. I LOVE her peasant blouse in that photo.

They always look genuinely happy together. Whether it’s on the red carpet or in paparazzi pictures. Beautiful couple. Far more genuine than Brad and Angelina.

Keith is too busy smiling at the crowd and is slow to respond to Kidman’s hand squeezing cue. Nicole crushes Keith’s hand, Keith winces in pain and immediately obliges with a passionless kiss.
I don’t know what you were looking at. Brad and Angie invented sex appeal on the red carpet. The way they looked at each other; it sure looked genuine and sexy as all hell.
Nicole and Keith on the hand look like they never have sex.. I see the men these days are working the Brad Maneuver (hand on the butt move). Tom Brady and now Keith. How tall is Keith? Photos on another site, he’s wearing 3″ dress shoes and Nicole still has about 4″ on him.
I love Nicole’s Dress (fits her like a glove).
Well that’s your opinion. IMO Brad and Angelina look fake and unhappy together. And Keith and Nicole look relaxed and genuine.
Yeah, something about the trout-mouth kissed looks very posed and matronly to me. I think they’re going for image here, not just showing genuine affection for each other. I wonder if they read gossip sites? They’re always guesses for bad-marriage blind items…

@Julie – yeah, I don’t give those blinds much credibility, I just wonder if they hear of them and try to combat some of those rumors.
They seem like a solid couple, but the poses here do look a little fakey-fakey.
Nicole’s dress is horrible. This woman only gets it right about 30% of the time. Hire Rachael Zoe already!!
Are you serious? Nicole is one of the best dressed actresses. And Rachel Zoe is an incompetent stylist! Let’s not talk about her “style”! Ugh!
Maybe Keith should invest in a T-shirt tuxedo for red carpet appearances because as soon as he covers up his tattoos, his lack of masculinity is sorely highlighted.
I LOVE that dress! The funky print, the colour, the cut. And that hair looks cool on her, I’m glad she’s having fun (but not over the top) with her fashion choices for Cannes.
She looks Cannes worthy at least. Unlike Jessica Biel, who made the whole affair feel cheap.

The Botox “jokes” are so 2009. Kidman looks fantastic and quite natural at the Cannes Film Festival.
umm Julie: I wasn’t *joking*. Her face doesn’t move. Nothing about her face looks natural. Take a look at old pictures of her (maybe prior to 2009 since you seem to enjoy that year) – she has radically altered her face. And it doesn’t look good.
Apparently I live alone in my own little parallel universe I think Kidman looks like a robotic FREAK. Her forehead is too much! It might be bearable if it moved. All the women had to wear plastered back hair this year, so Nicole followed the trend with terrible results. Plus they are totally overcompensating/acting for the photos.

I love this dress. I’m so happy to see a fun exciting print that looks amazing. It fits her perfectly. So sick of seeing plain black/white/nude dresses on the red carpet.
Now the hair on the other hand? Yikes. Looks dried fried, and the styling is awful.

As a tall woman who was self-conscious about her height almost all her life, I have to salute Nicole for not caring that Keith is shorter than her. They don’t mind posing together, and she doesn’t seem to mind the height difference at all. I think they’re very sweet together.
I love the dress — think it’s fun while not being crazy, and a nice break from all the black and white. But the hair — whoever told her that style was good lied, big-time. She needs to borrow Keith’s flat-iron.
I think it’s got more to do with Keith being confident enough to let her enjoy heels while Tommy Boy never was. I’m tall as well, taller than my husband, and he thinks a tall woman by his side is sexy; lots of others just can’t handle it.
Let’s say it’s 50/50 :).

Judging by the peculiar angle of Keith’s foot, his shoe lifts have got to be between 2 – 3 inches high.
I very much like this dress also. It fits her beautifully. The print is pretty and fun. I don’t mind the hair. She’s changing it up for a different look and it looks good on her.

The kissing and nuzzling looks sweet until you see all the photographers perched so close. I love kissing my partner, but doing so in such a situation would feel very uncomfortable to me; It is so obviously done for the cameras, and that makes me question the validity. Even though I really like these two together and hope they are the real thing.
Also, the neck nuzzling (not pictured in this article, but on the DM) is way too reminiscent of her posing with GMD
I can’t stand anyone kissing on the red carpet, whether they are young or old, it just looks so fake. You never see anyone do this and think, Oh they are so in love, they can’t keep their hands off each other. Taylor Swift had the best response to kissing for the cameras

I totally agree, it has been looking awful. The most unflattering styles imaginable. I think it’s less to do with humidity than it’s become damaged, maybe. It just looks so fragile and unhealthy and the stylists seem to be trying to work around it.
I wonder how she’s look if she pulled a Charlize? Not that I think she’d ever chop it, she seems like the type who needs long hair for security. Not to mention it would put more focus on the jacked up aspects of her face.
As for Keith, I just can’t with him. I’ know people who swoon over him but I’ve never seen the attraction.
She had short darkish hair for the first movie she made after her Tommy Boy divorce, and she totally rocked it.

I’m never a fan of couples who sell their relationship on the red carpet. It always feels desperate for attention. So it’s never cute to me.
I am not a fan of either. But having seen Keith on the voice its changed my opinion of him. He is articulate and seems like a nice guy actually. He seemed way more intelligent than seal, joel madden and that delta woman.
That’s interesting. I, of course, am judging him purely on appearances. So it’s good to get some positive feedback on his personality.

This is going to really screw with Nicole Kidman: you can try to dodge the aging process all you want with botox and fillers, but when your GUMS recede, NOTHING can hide that. NOTHING. Admit it, Nicole, you’re no spring chicken.
Flossing on a regular basis slows down the receding. Nicole needs to really pay attention because her gums were always puffy if you look at old pictures with her original teeth. I cringe at the sight of her. Here’s a woman who can’t stand anything that God gave her. Her parents must be perplexed. She so badly wants to be the Grace Kelly type blond. Imagine if Prince Harry started going that route?

I think they are probably in love, happy to ne in Cannes together and just want to show the world they are a very affectionate couple. I go away with a great impression of Keith after he judged American Idol, and Nicolle is a talented actress. They are both Aussies, too, so I’m happy for them as a couple who seem to have a happy marriage.
