Christina Hendricks in custom Christian Siriano at the Emmys: finally flattering?

My lord, did you see Christina Hendricks on the E! Red Carpet special? When you see her live and in motion, her breasts are really spectacular. Like, you can’t look anywhere else. Even Ryan Seacrest was having problems looking at her face. For my money (and considering the affection I have for Christina and her rack), I thought this was one of Christina’s best awards-show looks ever. Her gown is a custom-made Christian Siriano. He’s the little designer from Project Runway, and Christina has worn Siriano’s gowns many times before. The dress is incredibly flattering to Christina’s hourglass figure and it doesn’t feel like it’s all boob, you know? Also, it’s a damn shame that Christina never wins any awards for Mad Men because she’s really good.

More ladies of Mad Men… here’s Linda Cardellini in Donna Karan Atelier. Linda played Don’s mistress this past season. I didn’t like her character that much, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I think this is too “full-on gown” for who she is in relation to the show. The color’s pretty.

Here’s little Kiernan Shipka in Delpozo. Perfectly cute and age-appropriate.

And here’s the only Scientologist that I like, Elisabeth Moss in Andrew Gn. Lizzie Moss never really kills at awards shows. I think she’s cute and incredibly talented, but looking glam isn’t really her forte. This dress looks like two boring pageant dresses sown together.

    Love, love, LOVE Christina’s look! Best dressed of the night for me.

    • phillkatt says:

      I agree she looks lovely. Usually she looks stuffed in her clothes.

      • Kim says:

        Exactly! First time she has ever worn an appropriate dress where her boobs arent hideously scrunched into it. She needs to stick with this look.

  2. Erinn says:

    It must be succhhh a pain to have to lug that bust around. I can’t even imagine. I think if it were me I’d have to get a reduction, but she seems happy with them. Hopefully they’re not too painful for her.

    She actually looks really good here though. She needs more looks like this.

    • J.Mo says:

      has no one else seen modeling pics of her from her 20’s? She either grew the bust in her 30’s or they’re implants. It’s her body, but like Salma Hayek, I’m always surprised that people think they’re real when photo evidence says they are not.

      • Poppy says:

        I grew a whacking 5 sizes in my mid twenties. I was already kinda busty, but these things just sprouted like some kind of cartoon balloon! I’m about the same size as her, although sadly without the tiny waist, so it can happen.

      • Samtha says:

        Her weight has gone up all around, not just in her breasts.

      • SnarkySnarkers says:

        I agree. I’ve seen the pictures and there is no way they grew that much, even with the weight gain. I mean c’mon, look at the before and after: http://celebnosejob.com/christina-hendricks-plastic-surgery-procedures-breast-implant-nose-job/

        They are lovely implants though. She pulls them off because they fit her heavier frame, unlike Angie’s which look way too big.

      • Bridget says:

        She has gained a LOT of weight since Mad Men. At least 30lbs. Which would indeed account for her giant cans.

      • GByeGirl says:

        @Snarky:
        I really think they are real. She’s at least 50lbs heavier since that first photo. Some ladies gain lots of weight in their breasts. It’s the first place I gain and lose. Also, the writer of that article knows nothing about bra sizing.

        Christina is probably a 34 or maybe 36 G cup.

  3. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

    Wow, this is the best I’ve seen her–I love who she chose for her husband. He’s probably one of the few who actually looked at her face while talking to her–in terms of Hollywood dating anyway.

    • Monkey Towz says:

      I was about to comment that I love her husband’s geeky look. I read once that she said she knew she loved him b/c he actually listened to her.
      Speaking of geeks, I have loved Linda Cardellini since Freaks & Geeks. She’s flawless to me.

      • Holly says:

        Word. She took a hit in my book with her awful role in ER (but that goes for almost anyone involved in ER past the first few years)! But luckily there’s always a channel rerunning F&G and no ER, whooo!

        This dress is reminiscent of Jennifer Garner’s Oscar’s{?} dress, no?

      • Monkey Towz says:

        @ Holly her dress does look a bit like JGarner’s dress. The color is gorgeous.
        Last year I gave my bff & her husband the F & G dvd set. It’s always fun to turn someone on to a great work of art.

      • taxi says:

        I like Cardellini too. In this pic, her hair is too flat on top but the dress is great.

        I like Christina’s hair better when it’s full on red.

  4. Merritt says:

    Christina looks really good here.

    Kiernan Shipka always appears to look age appropriate, her parents or team have done a good job on that.

    • Spooks says:

      How are heels appropriate for a 13yearold?

      • MeowuiRose says:

        I was thinking the exact same thing.

      • amelia says:

        When I was 13 and at a dinner or function that required a long dress, I used to wear heels. It made me feel a little more grown up, and if the hem was long enough, you could fool people into thinking you were taller 🙂
        I know that a lot of people – understandably – worry about young girls being over sexualised in the media, but come on; there are daisies(?) on her dress. She’s fine.

      • Spooks says:

        But why couldn’t she wear flats? I can’t remember the last time a saw a kid in flats. Her, Elle Fanning, the True Grit girl ,they all started with heels. It is sexualising children.

      • Stacy says:

        You’re all acting like if she’s wearing some Courtney stodden hooker heels.

      • emmie_a says:

        She is super into fashion – I think she has a fashion blog so I can see her wanting to and actually wearing heels. And they’re appropriate heels for her – dainty and not too high. And let’s face it. It’s Hollywood and no matter what, she’s going to grow up before her time.

      • Mean Hannah says:

        Plenty of 13 yr olds wear heels because they want to look grown up, especially for special occasions. It’s more common now than when I was that age. Most don’t stand and walk well in them, so I always think it has the opposite effect than intended. It makes them awkward and silly and young. Not specialized. Also, my parents would have been more concerned about the painted face than heels if this was me, so different pearl-clutching for different folks, I guess.

      • Sachi says:

        I was 10 when I started wearing heels. Not 4″ stilettos and not all the time, of course, but on very special occasions ie. weddings. I couldn’t wear it around my Dad and my Mum would say I could only wear heels for 2 hours, so I better choose the right events. Ironic, since now that I’m an adult I rarely wear heels and prefer ballerinas.

        Kiernan Shipka is more like January Jones: both are interested in fashion but where January often goes for avant-garde/weird since she’s an adult, Kiernan balances childlike aesthetic with tween accents. Her hair and makeup are done simply. Her dress is colourful like a little girl’s dress and the flowers are too cute, and her sandals have sensible heels.

        She doesn’t look like she’s trying to grow up too fast, but she IS growing up and she’s trying to experiment with her fashion. And from everything I read about this girl, she is very, very bright and somewhat of an old soul. Her responses to questions are always articulate and well thought-out. Quite a contrast for such a baby-face like her.

      • phillkatt says:

        If it’s a low heel, like a kitten heel, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but if you’re talking about six inch stilettos — uh, no.

      • Bridget says:

        She’s 13 (almost 14) not 3. Even in my day it was appropriate for a young teenager to wear heels for a special occasion.

  5. Janet says:

    I like Moss’s dress and it fits her well. BTW how do you pronounce Gn?

  6. Pastyousayyouneverknew says:

    Christina Hendricks looks like perfection, excellent fit and Elizabeth Moss looks pretty good too.

  7. Jade says:

    I can’t believe Top Of The Lake didn’t win anything!! Elizabeth Moss was just incredible in it.

    • L says:

      I know! I was so bummed! I was hoping for at least Moss to win something if not the writers. That was a great show.

    • Holly says:

      This was, by far, the biggest upset of the night for me. It’s one thing that she always gets tossed aside for her role as Peggy, but I thought it would be impossible to deny her for both Peggy and Top of the Lake!

      Not only did it stink that the series was overlooked completely, but she was incredible in that role, just incredible.

      The subtext I’m getting these days is that the Emmy’s go to the stage or film actors as a sort of high-five for “slumming” it in TV, and the actors who they feel comfortable will remain on TV can go get bent.

      Her dress was like an Anna Gunn redux (Anna’s read better on camera for sure).

      • Lauren says:

        SO DISAPPOINTING. Nothing for Moss OR Campion? Gimme a break.

        The Emmy’s are a joke. As you said, they’re always eager to reward film legends the MINUTE they deign to grace us with their presence on television, no matter that the character wasn’t interesting or the work in now way better than the other nominees.

        And then, they reward popular shows long past the expiration date (Modern Family, Big Bang Theory), whether or not they were EVER any good (g-d Big Bang Theory).

  8. Tanguerita says:

    to me, she was the best-dressed of the night, boobs..ehmm, hands down.

  9. Kate says:

    Christina looks better than usual, but I never understand why her bust looks so massive in formal wear but not when she’s just papped wearing a T-shirt and jeans. I say that as someone with an even larger bust. I can’t tell if she’s using padding in the wrong places or if she just constantly wears dresses that are way too small for her bust (too small means the boobs are squashed and spread out, so from neck to waist it’s all boob), but whatever it is she needs to stop it. She has a gorgeous figure but everything she wears makes her appear much bigger than she is.

    • RJ says:

      I’ve seen Christina in person and her boobs are not that massive in general-she has a very tiny frame so they look much larger than they actually are. It’s amazing the difference b/t seeing pictures and how so many celebrities look in person, they are like a tiny glamorous army of mini-humans

  10. Sisi says:

    I can’t look away from that face. Christina’s face is flawless! And I love those pin curls and finger waves. I tried to get mine so voluminous, but I just don’t have enough hair I think 🙁
    Need to try it again some time.

    • Hautie says:

      “I love those pin curls and finger waves. I tried to get mine so voluminous, but I just don’t have enough hair I think…”
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      I suspect that is a very nice wiglet on Christina’s head. Maybe a loaner from Beyonce Wig Crypt? 🙂
      Seriously, even if it was a nice wiglet, it looks amazing.
      The color is fabulous. Normally she keeps it a little too orange, in color. This is a nice strawberry blonde shade. Matches her skin tone perfectly.
      And this is the first red carpet dress I have seen her in, that the bust fits correctly. So the dress hangs properly. And she looks amazing.
      Plus she has such a cute husband. (Whom I will forever adore from his time with the Super Troopers!)
    • Shoe_Lover says:
      All you need to get volume if to tease your hair a bit. If you go to Lisa Freemont Street’s youtube channel one of her most recent videos is teasing vintage hairstyles for volume and height.
  11. Faye says:
    Christina looks good, but I feel as if we grade her on a curve. As in, “For Christina, this is great! We only see HALF of her boobs!” I think the bustline could have been higher.
    I’m suprised Linda Cardellini didn’t get more love. To me, she was one of the best-dressed of the night -wearing something flattering, beautifully colored, and red-carpet dramatic. I loved it.
  12. lucy2 says:
    I like all of these looks, and Christina especially looks really nice.
  13. judyjudy says:
    I heart Kiernan Shipka.
  14. HK9 says:
    Finally, something that’s flattering and looks great. I knew she could do it. Well done Christina, well done. 🙂
  15. Crabcake says:
    Christina is one of those women you cant take your eyes off. She’s far from perfect but she’s just stunning.
  16. Tish says:
    Hendricks and Shipka, best dressed of the night.
  17. luffy says:
    i wish she would get more main stream work. i think christina is so beautiful and her figure is really lovely. i feel bad that her boobs seem to overtake all her clothing. i had the same problem. its very difficult to find dress that flatter larger busts.most things now are design for more flat chest looks.
    • phillkatt says:
      Most women don’t realize that ready to wear clothing is generally cut for a B cup. If you are over that (I am a 42D) you might to 1) learn to sew 2) find a good seamstress to custom make your clothing (it’s really not that expensive when you’re considering you’re getting a one of a kind piecesthat will last a long time or 3) wear alot of knits!
  18. Trillian says:
    Usually I love to hate on Christina Hendricks, but this look is finally something good. The dress actually fits her and thank God she got rid of that clownish red hair. Sooo much better like this.
  19. Maum says:
    I loved the way Christina Hendricks told Ryan Seacrest her dress reminded her of a Sargent painting.
    The blank look on his face was priceless.
    • lucy2 says:
      Yes! Madame X, I’m guessing. He had no clue, he lives in bubble of hair gel and Kardashian stink.
    • Holly says:
      I’m so sad I missed it just for one of Seacrest’s dumb stares!
      Everything about this look = perfection. Hair, makeup, styling, flawless dress (smart to stick with Siriano). Never looked better and she’d better land some press for it.
      She made a lot of other beautiful women there look half-baked.
  20. Amanda says:
    Christina killed it last night. I was so happy she found a flattering dress! She looked boobtastic and I love her for it. I wasn’t expecting her to receive an award just because she wasn’t featured a whole lot this season and that’s a shame because her character is amazing. I hope they do something great with her next season, but God knows. I adore Elizabeth Moss, her hair is so adorable.
  21. emmie_a says:
    Christina looked wonderful. Hair, makeup, dress – all perfect.
    I hate Linda’s gown. It’s too much, too fussy — I think Marchesa has a version of this.
    I like Elizabeth’s gown. I love the black/white and the sequins aren’t too sparkly. It’s classy. I just think it needed a thin belt or something at the waist.
  22. Sachi says:
    Christina looked gorgeous.
    Linda’s gown swallowed her body. Yikes.
    Kiernan is a lovely girl.
    Elizabeth Moss also looked great. I like her hair.
  23. themummy says:
    I seem to be in the minority, but Hendricks just bugs the living crap out of me. She walks around pretending that she’s a naturally full-busted redhead, when she’s actually a VERY flat chested platinum blonde. I think she actually thinks we’re too stupid to know about her old Playboy shots, etc. (which I mention not because of Playboy, but because it shows her how she was before she was able to find major success; flat chested and sporting her natural blonde hair–and those are not the only pics showing this). Had she not actually said outright that she’s a naturally massively busty redhead I would have kept on loving her. Plus, those giant fake tits take up half her damn body, they’re obviously fake (you can see the implants much of the time), and it’s painful to look at.
    I think her giant fake boobies make her look so disproportionate that she never looks good in any clothes. She is beautiful, though, that’s for sure.
    I just wish the trend would turn so that women could at least be a little natural in Hollywood. All of these award shows are like the Parade of Plastics.
    • J.Mo says:
      I just posted that above you! Sure, her and Salma Hayek are naturally voluptuous but photo evidence abounds showing they both have big implants.
      I don’t understand the love, when she was doing the red carpet she would slowly raise her head and lower it repeatedly. She looked like she was trying to channel Marilyn Monroe, I could practically hear her chanting “happy birthday mr president.”
    • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:
      Some people just bug you, or they say or do that one small thing that just torpedoes them in a person’s eyes. No crime committed there.
    • Shoe_Lover says:
      She has said in interviews that she isn’t a natural red head and her natural colour is blonde. And some women do blossom in the bust in their 20s, I know people who have, especially if they gain weight like Christina did. If you want to hate that’s your choice but do some research.
  24. smee says:
    A huge rack is a hard thing to dress. This is the way to do it. Flattering V-neck shape, not too much cleavage, some interesting accents at the shoulders and it shows off her hour-glass figure. She should always wear custom-made clothing. Best I’ve ever seen her.
  25. Shelly says:
    Christina looks amazing! I love everything she’s doing here. Gorgeous! (and I want her clutch!)
    Kiernan’s dress is adorable. She looks so pretty.
  26. Maggie says:
    Christina Hendricks looks ridic. That dress looks like she stole someone’s mantilla and used it as a shawl. Pretty face but that’s where it stops for me. Her hair is hideous!
  27. Nicolette says:
    Christina looks great. A real throw back to the bombshells of Hollywood past. A curvy full figure that she embraces and makes no apologies for, love it.
  28. TherapyCranes says:
    She looks fab here. As a ginger with a huge bust I always +1 anything Christina… But she does look exceptionally beautiful here.
  29. Claudia says:
    Beautiful dress on Hendricks, it really flatters her shape. Her husband looks so familiar… is he on a tv show?
  30. Camille (TheOriginal) says:
    Christina looks amazing. The best she has EVER looked- ever! Best dressed of the night.
  31. Hmm says:
    Why has Christina Hendricks not been called out on the fact that she wears wigs? It seems like whenever a celebrity is “outed” that they wear fake hair, they make a huge stink about it, but Christina has been an exception…
  32. Caz says:
    All the featured ladies look great!
